  1. Bearden is a very good and athletic team. They could very well take it all with ease. Their greatest weakness is their chemistry. I ve watched them play seveal times, and they are a very good team. They are the best team, by far, in the East and very well the entire state. I am curious how they play from behind. If they encounter that late, I have a feeling they may turn on each other. I wouldn't be surprised if they won it all when it is all said and done.

You know the game is over and they lost, right?

  2. I'm a huge Bearden fan, but I'm sick and tired of people coming on here saying that the dawgs are going to win state hands down. Yes, they are very good, but there are teams in Memphis that are every bit as good if not better. The state tournament always comes down to who gets hot and who hits a cold spell. That being said, I HOPE that we can win and I plan on being there to cheer them on.

  3. I didn't watch the game yet, nor did I listen to all of it. How many of Farragut's 24 turnovers were actually forced? I mean I guess one could claim they were all forced due to the pressure, but I am meaning did Bearden steal the ball or was Farragut just tossing it out of bounds trying to make something out of nothing? What were the fouls like? What about the free throws? Did Bearden shoot alot more than Farragut? Seemed like everytime I heard that Bearden scored they were fouled. Also, on the radio I heard something about a ref pushing a student? What was that about?

Most of the turnovers were forced. It was mainly due to the pressure, but the majority of them were either steals or Farragut passing straight to a Bearden player. There was a fair amount of Farragut just throwing it out of bounds. It didn't seem like there was that much fouling until the game got chippy in the third quarter, which was when Bearden really pulled away. I don't recall Bearden missing more than a handfull of free throws, but I'm not sure how many they took. The refs looked very concerned with both student sections. They tossed a Farragut kid in the first quarter who had some choice words when it was quiet enough for the ref to hear him and tell who he was, so he was tossed. On the Bearden side, they were right on the court, as per usual, and there were a couple situations where farragut was inbounding there that the refs looked like they were pushing people back. It didn't seem as loud as the tape from previous years did, but this year I guess the principals abandoned keeping people off the floor. Once again, bearden looked impressive, and I can't wait to see them square off with Oak Hill if they bring the same intensity.

  4. Now the question is, can anyone in Tennessee beat Bearden? I watched it on the internet, and from what I saw, they did all this with the usual suspects (Jenkins, Simpson, and Craig) watching most of the game from the bench. Galen Campbell had a great game, as did Nate Parker with two thunderous dunks. I don't know about beating Oak Hill by 10+, but if they play like this it will be a great game that I only hope I can watch from the DC area.

  5. Peter Shankles (#33) was good from West Knox, especially considering it was his first year playing. As far as other teams that we saw, I would have to say the best I faced was Brentwood. You can't really pick out one guy that was good from them, they went five poles deep and all were solid, and as everyone knows, their goalie is incredible.

  6. Congratulations to everyone from brentwook that made it. you guys all had a great season and earned all the recognition you got. Good luck to the returning players next year in D1.

Does anyone know the full teams?

  7. you seriously need to watch the game film of that catch. your wr's feet, both of them, came down out of bounds. the first one on the line, half his foot was over, the other foot was completely out of bounds. heck, find the news guy that was standing right there, he'll tell you he same thing.

I have talked to that news guy, heck I even went into his van after the game to look at it. It was clearly in bounds when he gained possesion of the ball. there was a step where his left foot was half out of bounds so it shouldn't have been a touchdown, but that was definately a catch. The picture that you smyrna people are talking about is about 3 steps later when he had already turned his head around. Unless he caught it looking at the endzone (which he didn't) he was in. That said there was plenty of blown calls in both directions, but we lost so we complain. If you had lost we would be hearing the same things from you.

  8. Well I was standing right behind the field goal (infront of the scoreboard) the whole game so i can hear both crowds equally. Let me tell you that your cheer didnt come close to ours, but your boo sure did. Im really mean it that I have never heard that loud of a boo at a highschool football game in my life...

And I've never seen such bullsh*t calls in my life. There is a method to our madness.

  9. again, you keep telling yourself whatever you need to so you can sleep at night. there was no "home cooking". are you really dumb enough to believe that? you have got to be a smarter person than that. i've already said everyone has their own opinion. if "ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas." the players did fight out a great game. quit ruining the great season they had.

So you think the refs would have made the same bs calls if the game was at a neutral site? I sure don't. Going to smyrna was like going to the bush league. Whoever said something about the band playing the whole game was exactly right. Our principal said that there are rules against it, and our band wanted to do it right back to them but he said no because we had to show a little class. Class-bearden has it, smyrna obviously doesn't

  10. Bearden played one heck of a game. This was definately a hard fought game. I know a few have something about the second onside kick. The smyrna player cought the ball in the air, came to the ground with it, and then it came loose when everyone piled on but he had possesion when he came down. A lot of people will probably argue over this for a while, but hey, everyone has an opinion.

Caught it in the air and came down with it? How about caught it in the air got layed the ###### out, flipped, dropped the ball, and bearden came up with it. But the refs couldn't get enough of that home cooking and had to let smyrna win. On a more positive note, I thought smyrna played a heck of a game and did what no one has been able to do this year, shut down torey works. I don't think that anyone who was there could deny that the bearden team had the most heart. They never gave up down 17 0 and should have came back and won. And the cj gunn TD catch that got called back, I was talking to mark packer and he said his camera guy rolled back the tape and he was clearly in, more home cooking. The hardest thing I have had to do all season as a senior fan was go out on the field and physically pick up the players who gave every thing they had and came up short. All we could do was tell them that we were proud of them and they had a great year. This will be as far as bearden will go for a while. All said, I hope those refs never do another game again in their lives.

  11. Ummm how can I compare them? Let's see, William Blount and Ooltewah were supposed to have 2 of the highest powered offenses in TN. And if you think that the jump balls to Rod Wilkes are going to work like they have against the bad teams you've faced, then you're in for a long night. Our DB's are both very athletic and have very good hops. I saw Wilkes only had 1 catch last game against Wilson Central (who idk about), but if they can hold him I really believe we can hold him. And about this 4-5 capable WR's, I have very rarely seen a high school team with that many WR's that are playmakers. Bearden has 2: Madison English and Aaron Gray. Enough talking though, I'm ready to settle this on the field rather than message boards!

Only 2? Madison and Aaron are two of our best, but you're forgetting about ocho cinco Cory Eicholtz, Logan Maynard, and Matt Williamson (if coach taylor ever puts him in on offense).

  12. Just tell me one thing.....who does Bearden have that can stop Wilks? ????????????????????????????? Thats what I thought.....NO ONE!!!!

Ok how about sean cunningham. If wilks has size, sean is about 6'3" and bigger than any reciever I've ever seen him play. On speed, just look at the 4x400 relay from two years ago and you'll see that he's faster than just about everyone on our team. Don't get me wrong, I don't see one on one coverage because the reciever almost always wins, but if we roll over one of our two very capable safetys, Dawson Halliday or Cory Eicholtz i say bearden gets the job done. Bearden by 8.

  13. If you want to know how Andre acted after the game, I'll tell you. He walked off the field without shaking hands at all. He then preceded to the locker room, where the word is he was throwing things. After that he went into the parking lot and when people were honking their horns to celebrate the victory, he got mad and punched windows. I wish he had broken mine because then I could disgrace his attitude on more than a message board. Don't get me wrong, Andre is a great football player, just not last night. GO DOGS!!!!!!!!!

  14. I have said it all year. BEARDEN IS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is true. Last night bearden shook their mental block and beat Farragut. Not to mention that the defense held the Mighty Andre Sterling to under 100 yards for I believe the first time all season. And that's just the defense. Torey Works ruined the farragut D for four touchdowns and around 150 yards. This will be a close one, but the BEARDEN bulldogs will pull it out just like they have ever since Sept. 14.

  15. I don't think that this one will be as close as the last ones have. I go to bearden, and the team has been very calm and focused this week. The problem with the first game this year was that we peaked too early. This week look for us to hit the field hard and dominate Farragut. Stopping Sterling is not even possible, so bearden will just contain him as much as possible. The only problem with Farragut is that they are a one man team, and If Sterling were to go down with an injury or get kicked out for running his mouth (again) it would be over. Bearden is very multi-dimentional and can attack from all angles. For those who are talking about Madison English being out, he played the entire game last week, and is almost completely recovered from his knee injury. He was slowed in the Ooltewah game because he was sick. Look for him and ocho-cinco to have huge games, and if logan maynard can catch a pass we will roll. I wish that coach taylor would put logan on the pine pony and let matt williamson play. I think that bearden will reverse history and win this one 35-24.

  16. QUOTE(cavlax17 @ May 5 2007 - 01:10 AM) 826452254[/snapback]Both of the Webbs have good faceoff guys, but I was refering to Knox's face off-scoop duo. They just killed us on most of the faceoffs, and congrats on the win vs. West

Ya they killed us too. I think the face off guy is Zack Barton, a senior, and the wing is Will Tullock, a junior. Tullock is the long pole, and I think that is the way Barton was going with it.

  17. This is my fourth year playing with Rob and he definately is one of the better goalies in D2. He does tend to lose it late in games when things don't go our way, but when he is on he is the best without a doubt. From what I have seen, he is amazing when people are on the doorstep, and if he could keep his composure a bit more there would be no limit to what he could do. Don't count him out because of a few bad games. And centennial is in D2 .
