I will take fulton, stone, Livingston, Howard, Marshall, Giles, and BTW. The east Tn schools I am a little uneducated on have only watched Livingston this season. I think the east lit Marshall co game will be very good. Giles can beat sycamore should be a great game as well. Sycamore is as hot as any team in the state. Bolivar v BTW should be good as well. Would have picked BC if it was in that oven of a gym they play their games in. Great H.S. Venue but I think BTW will get em at home.

I have to give it to Sycamore. They played some tough teams early in the season and settled into a great district run. One loss in district and none since. The pundits made the claim they would lose to Whites creek, Maple would and would be crucified by East Lit... Those predictions fell on deal ears.

Sycamore is VERY deep and I think they will be very hard to beat at home tomorrow night.

I would also say that the region games have been some of the best spectator games I have ever seen. The fans are getting value for money for sure.

One last word, I was very impressed with East Lit. It is always great to see players working hard and also showing good sportsmanship, for example, whether its called a charge or block helping the player on the floor up;.. Nice to see and I hope to see them play again.

That's a snappy comeback. How old are you - 10? I never predicted CPA to be state champs, and I never trash talked Sycamore. I posted that Sycamore was a good team capable of winning the region. CPA had a good season, a good team, and should be proud of their efforts.

It's really sad how adults get on here and rub salt in the wounds of a bunch of teenagers who worked hard for months and lose a tough game to end their season. Only one team can win it all, that doesn't mean the rest are bums who should be rediculed. They are hard working, dedicated athletes, and should be proud of their efforts.

What am I missing? 10AA has won 4 games in the tourney and 9AA has won 2, both by Sycamore. I posted about 3 weeks ago that Sycamore was a possible Region winner, along with EL, Maplewood, and CPA. That's how it has played out. Too many 9AA fans are riding the Sycamore wagon and claiming 9AA is stronger than it was.

Maplewood may beat Sycamore but they are NOT getting plastered! Sycamore has too much pride and play too hard to let that happen. Maplewood will have to earn it because the War Eagles arent going to give them anything but a dog fight. Keep doubting Sycamore, I think they like it better that way. The games this weekend turned out as expected. Game of the day (boys or girls) was Westmoreland vs Sycamore.

Sycamore up. Westmoreland rallies back to go up. And then... one of the best finishes (if you're not a Westmoreland fan) ever. Reigning MVP and heart & soul of Sycamore's team came up clutch in final seconds to secure the victory.

 

Props to Westmoreland. Only team in district to beat Macon. Much improved. Quite frankly, should have beaten Sycamore Saturday evening.

 

Would expect Macon to win championship now that Calamity is back.

Your not kiding, sycamore down by 2, about 4seconds on the clock. 21 takes a shot just inside the westmoreland half at the buzzer and is fouled. She shot two, wm called a timeout and she shot the winning shot after the time out. Way to shoot under pressure.....!!!!!!!!

I was surprised to hear whitehouse won last night, but since everyone says its hard to beat a team three times Sycamore wont have to beat macon a third time.. The only team they haven't beaten twice this season is Whitehouse, well at least not till tuesday night lol

In all seriousness, I think the game with Macon Co. Saturday will be a very good one. Both teams are long and shoot well. The diffeence will be who is hot and who is not. The Devils have not had a good shooting game for a while and hopefully it is time to bust one out. At any rate the season has been fantastic and the discussions on this site spirited and civil. Rivalries are great but its always best when you can leave it on the court. I'm glad my boy has friends on most of the teams in the area and they get along great off the court/field. its really sad to hear someone say, I hate Sycamore, or I hate greenbrier, etc. Believe me. i want to beat them every time but still can have a burger with them later. BDP!

before putting in my thoughts on POY or all-district, i would be interested in seeing some stats. Anyone know where any can be found? none of the teams seem to have a good website listing the stats or anything like that. For example, who's the leading scorer in the Dist.? Leading rebounder? etc. Being a Blue Devil, I want to say that Taylor Ward should be up there in the reckoning, but I don't even know his stats, or Froeddens, or D. Grace for that matter.

Hard to get this info. Most coaches just post the scores not all the stats.

I recall several years back a player broke a district 11aa rebounding record. The reality was her coach kept up with it and posted that info onfline and kudos to him for pdoing that for his players! . Its a pity all the coaches dont do this for their players so the stats tell the real story not just the scores.

Why a clean sweep? You don't think the #1 seed of 9AA could win a game against the #4 seed of 10AA? Last time i checked the top 3 in 10AA were ranked but the #4 was still a mystery. I think you underestimate the 1-3-1/shooting ability of White House. Macon county is long and athletic and well coached- Coach Welch is one of the best. Sycamore is undersized/presses and pressures the ball as good as anyone; but deep in rotation and that wears people down.

You are exactly right! Everyone is beatable. I didnt see where anyone said Sycamore was "unbeatable." They have 6 losses.

Only district loss was to whitehouse.

It only stands to reason that when you play decent teams preseason and non district you are going to lose a few.

It was also said the WH coach was jeering Sycamore players like he was a fan. Since when is it acceptable for a head coach to tell a player he can't shoot or dribble? Regardless, the player in question (#2 Froedden), hit 3 three's and scored 18 on the game, making the coach quiet by the end and apparently taking his frustration out on the fans? I'm not sure of the full detail or reasoning, it is only what I saw and have been told, but that is certainly not professional to taunt a player on the opposing team when you are the head coach.

Well, when you play defense by crawling into the other guy's jock, the refs are liable to see it. Seems to me the tables were turned in the second half and SHS got an awful lot of charity whistles. Doesn't mean WH would've won the game, just pointing out that what you apparently considered to be over-officiating worked in your favor later.

When the Devils won at Sycamore, Kiwi's logic was that we only won in the 3-point department. Whatever that meant. I guess by that same logic, we only lost in the 3-point department last night. If Sycamore had made 5 fewer 3's it would've been a tie game. Whaa?

 

They beat us by 15, we beat them by 13. Clearly it's about whose shots are falling. SHS caught fire in the second half. Up until then it was a pretty even matchup.

If you look at the stats you will notice whitehouse won the second quarter, pity no one takes the time to call in the full stats. Whitehouse went to the free throw line at least 8 times in the quarter. They won the quarter from the free throw line not the flloor.

The tournament should be a very good one with No clear favorite. On any night, macon, white house, sycamore, or the westies can win against each other. The tournament will be decided by which team wants it the most and playing together the best. Sycamore seemed to have addressed the one man show issue when I saw them play last. They were hitting threes and white house wasn't.

Wait kiwidad, not sure that it was easy. Came over and saw the game- WH was up at half and the war eagles were in foul trouble the whole first half. I thought Sycamore showed alot of heat in the win. SHS hit 14 or 15 three-pointers if i counted right. Shot it really well, especially #25 and #35.

Should be a really good tournament at Vol state- question is can Macon Co beat White House in the rubber match? You know what they say, "it is tough to beat a good team 3 times"

The foul count was a bigger deal for Sycamore than WH was I thought, the one Ref seemed to worship whitehouse (or hate syacamore). REfs called 25 on Sycamore and 15 were in the first half. If not for that and a better Free throw performance it would have been a 30 plus point win.

I have heard folk say that its tough to beat a team three times for years. My observation have been that its far easier to lose a third time than win when you have already lost twice.

I look forward to the games at vol state where SOME teams wont have the advantage of having their student section behind the visiting teams basket in the first half either....

Sycamore easily handled whitehouse tonight, final score 80 to 65. I feel so bad for wh losing on homecoming and senior night lol

White House beat Westmoreland by 20 at WH, and Goodpasture by that or more (I don't recall the exact score at the moment) at GP. But I don't recall WH needing OT to beat Sycamore. I think we all know anything can happen on any given night.

 

Play a team once and they learn something about you; makes the rematch a little tougher. Add to that shots not falling as usual and of course you're gonna be in for a tougher game. I expect a much tougher game from SHS next Friday for that reason alone because the first one wasn't in doubt after the second quarter. And, as somebody else posted earlier, Froedden can't do it all by himself. (Eventually he's gonna need a passport because he travels a lot.)

Whitehouse only beat sycamore in the 3point department. Score wise three points better in the first three quarters and 4in the fourth.
