1. QUOTE(BwAnG @ Mar 18 2007 - 12:43 PM) 826416296Guess I have something better to do. Maybe you can tell us about them.

DB with their senior class should go all the way. Should and doing it are two different things.

  2. QUOTE(23hoops @ Mar 18 2007 - 10:06 AM) 826416173PowellFan, you are one of the classiest on here. Where is MaxusHRking, CobraFan90, etc., etc., now? In hiding? All the Science Hill, Bradley Central, Whites Creek, and Clarksville fans who talked so much smack, aren't you a little embarassed? I am embarrassed for you. The Maryville basketball team and coaches are a class act as are MOST of the fans. I am so proud of our team for never giving up when very few thought we would EVER get to state, much less win it. WAY TO GO REBELS!!!!!!!

I eat my words. Hats off to Maryville they deserved to win based on what I saw of the championship game. Some of the foul calls on Basile and Maples were terrible. Seems like they were targeted much like Omar was in the Science Hill game. So much for the TSSAA. Once Basile fouled out Clarksville made their run. Not having Maples and Basile in there at the end/OT and in foul trouble changed the game. Clarkville didn't stand a chance with them in there.

Based on that , don't think Maryville will be the same team next year ,without those two defensively.Unless someone transfers in or is recruited? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> That point guard in the second game from Liberty is what a point guard is all about. Maples is an incredible athlete and look forward to seeing what he can do for the Vols. He has to be one of the greatest all around athletes ever in East Tennessee history.

Now there you see I ate some humble pie...was that classy?

  3. QUOTE(jimmy dolan @ Mar 9 2007 - 08:10 AM) 826405870maryville would win in football regardless of class. your statement is asinine!

The difference is that Bradley is loaded with D1 Basketball players and Maryville with D1 football players. This game is over unless they decide to play on turf???

  4. QUOTE(GovMan @ Mar 6 2007 - 10:09 AM) 826401918Has anyone heard from MaxusHRKing? He must be out at batting practice or something.

I never expected the refs to effectt he games like they did. I can tell you this at the Boro

there will be the best refs and you and Powell won't stand a chance. Wait and see what happens when

Maryville faces Oglesby and his supporting cast. It won't be a pretty sight. Don't embarass yourself

Maryville and Powell fans and stay home this time for sure. Mark my words and refs won't even matter

this time. Add Lee Humphrey to Maryville and Lofton to Powell and you still lose.

  5. QUOTE(bradleybears2004 @ Mar 7 2007 - 06:49 AM) 826403138is Maryville fans out there?

Don"t worry they are way over rated. Don't believe me just ask Powell. Besides with Mr Basketball (Oglesby) and your two

big guys you should beat them easily. Good outside shooting will kill them like Powell. Don't think SH had any. Oglesby will carve them up and don't think they have anyone to guard him. Has anyone been able to guard him? Don't think they could beat you even if they added Lee Humphrey on their team /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

  6. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Mar 5 2007 - 02:29 PM) 826400624I wanted to say good luck to both Science Hill and DB tonight…and a note to the seniors of these two teams, leave it all on the court!!! I'd like to see both games...but since that's not posible, I plan to go to see The Hill...and for once actually get to legitimately cheer them on /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> .

It was great to see the Big 9 cream of the crop yesterday evening …players that have been fierce competitors all year long, come together as comrades and break bread together at the Big 9 banquet. These players and coaches truly admire each other, and it’s great to see how they all get along and fellowship despite anything that has happened during the season. I’ve been fortunate to be present at several of these banquets and it is such a great idea. Hat’s off to Coach Dyer and company for what has become a celebrated event. Congratulations to Players of the Year Danielle Montgomery for the girls, and Omar Wattad for the boys. Also… kudos to Coach of the Year Coach Charlie Morgan whose teams’ success has shut a lot of mouths on here…including mine! /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

SH will beat Maryville easily. As I said in my other thread too fast, too big and too much Omar for Maryville

  7. QUOTE(BwAnG @ Feb 26 2007 - 10:57 PM) 826390990Dobyns-Bennett, with a new fence going up(to replace the 30 year old wooden one), and in a couple of years the city of kingsport has approved of putting artificial grass on the football field/baseball field. I believe its just like the turf Arkansas and Louisville have on their field. Also new dirt has been put in the infield and brick dust will go on the warning track giving it a college like atmosphere.

Agree with DB and Scince Hill is up there too

Sounds like you are Homophobic Translated that means you are really gay and trying to hide it so you trash gays. Have not seen you on the baseball boards and I dont think you play bball either. Or maybe you are good friends with the NBAs Hardaway another Homophobe?

  9. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ Feb 26 2007 - 11:16 PM) 826391038You're in a dream world. SH already "touched" Greenville. IF (as in big if) they win Region, that's as far as they go. TN High, SH, and DB are all very capable of beating Greenville. Wake up and smell the roses. Some of us would just love to see that dream end tomorrow given comments like that. To put a positive spin on it, good positive thinking there bub.

I will take DB or SH over Greeneville

  10. That may be why there are so many bad ones....the "pool is too small"

My advice open it up to non teachers and improve the quality and the training of the kids. And I am sure most non teachers could care less about the pay! :thumb:

After much thought I think it is better not to judge someone else unless I want the same

  11. The "best players" are those that put the team first no matter where they fall on the totum pole.

It has nothing to do with the best scorer. It has to do with the guy who is willing to take charges, screen to free his teammates, dive for loose balls, play good defense and yes make the open pass when his teammates are open. They could care less who scores the most points but most that their team plays the best possible.

Selfish players who want to score all the points and jealous players who won't pass to open players is the best way to destroy a good team. I think that is what you were talking about Bradley Central?

  12. Right on.....The coaches that allow this kind of selfish play are part of the problem.

If a guy "doesn't see an open man" or can't make a decent pass to an open man , then take him out and let him sit on the bench and maybe then he will figure it out. There is nothing worse then watching a player try to drive against four defenders when one of his teammates is open under the basket or ready to hit an open shot. That kind of player will never make it to the next level and his coach will never make it to the post season.

In basketball a great pass is always more impressive then a great shot. When was the last time you saw a coach take someone out for not making a good pass or failing to make a pass. Not often. But they will take a player out for making a foul or missing a shot. Lack of team work is unfortunately really a COACHING PROBLEM. Allowing selfish play is a lack of discipline!

I too have observed teams with much less talent put it to teams with more individual talent. That is because basketball is a 5 man sport. This is not just a problem at the high school level. Good coaching makes a major difference in basketball and influences the outcome of the game more than other team sports.

Coaches that allow this to go on in the regular season even when winning will see their teams come unraveled in the end.

    ditto

  15. Wow, atleast someone doesn't like to make excuses....NOT...

    WEST WINS.

    TROJAN NATIONNN!

My Point is West is not as good as they think they are and also that they would not be nearly as good if they didn't recruit players from the East side

I agree with you. Anything can happen in this rivalry - you can throw the records out the window. But I think West is too strong and wins by 34-20. Good luck to both.

  16. When it is East vs West all bets are off. I believe the game will go to West, but the separation will not come before half time. East is going to be pumped and will play on pure emotion in the first half. However, the West offensive line is going to control the line and the backs are going to run all over East in the second half. The West defense is going to be solid and stop East from moving the ball.

The bad thing for East is the fact they won last year. The West players are out to prove that was a fluke and will not happen this year. Coach Woods will not pile on the points, but there is not a West fan who does not want to see a big win.

It dont much matter I hear some of Wests best players should have gone to East. I wonder how they get away with that ? West will win easily but get shalacked in the regionals..........

  17. Bigr35, it seem to me you are being a little hard on the East High Coaches.

Morristown West had the same problem last year,(young offensive line).

East High has a good head coach in Mr. Smith, let's wait until he has coach

some of these players for 4 years. It took Coach Woods at West a few years

to build his program. I think East will give West all they want friday night.

    good luck canes!

West may beat up on the little guys like MoEast but wait until they play some real teams....they won't make it out of the region. West has some great individual players but lack depth and killer punch

  18. It is part of a coaches job to post stats. Those who don't do it are telling you they are not interested in promoting the kids. Don't expect those coaches to contact college recruiters to promote their players. Recruiters are dependent on coaches  as they only have so much time. Rarely will a kid get noticed in a small town like Morristown when the newspaper is read only be the local yocals.

The (team concept) is just an excuse for the fact they could care less. Don't believe it for a minute. I have known a few recruiters and they will be the first to tell you how important coaches and stats are in the process of selection.

Palazzola , Francisco and Simpson (with grades) come to mind as  kids who should have been highly recruited. I consider that a failure of the coaches and the athletic department to prepare and promote these kids for the next step and that incudes academic mentoring. Who was the last Division 1 athlete recruited or coming out of East? Blake Garretson should be an ACC/SEC recruit in football, but I doubt he will even get a look because of the lack of preparation and promotion at East. Mark my words and wait and see.

Team concept Now that is a real good escuse. Like you said these guys could care less about the players. Whatever happened to those three?

  19. Rockwood has a lot of good freshman.. Zach Breazeale and Zach duncan are two of the best freshmen pitchers possibly in state. They have both shut down Harriman, who has been ranked as high as 2 in the state. They also have two long ball hitters, Shane Doughty and Bryant Allen, both who are freshmen. Look for Rockwood to be a major force in a few years... GOOD LUCK TODAY....

    825676774

  20. I heard from a parent of the Canes that Coach A only nominated the 3 kids that made all district and no one else. I thought there were at least 4 others worthy of at least being voted on,but that is just my opinion.

    825675660

Do you know what the final stats were? Alos stats for the tournament? Which should count for more. Why does East High not post stats in nothing but football?

Who is the athletic directer? Who keeps the stats? Looked in the Knoxville paper today and it was the only game not reported. Go figure
