I will assume you are of High School age. Find the best 12 yr old tennis player in your town and challenge him to a match. He will clean your clock. He will take your lunch money and your girlfriend. Ask the best 12 yr old girl to play and she will clean your clock also. If you want to save yourself the embarassment ask your best friend to hit with you. Each of you stand on the baseline on opposite sides of the net and try to hit 10 balls in a row over the net and in the court. After a few hours you can come back and tell us how easy it was. There is not a game out there that requires the mental toughness that tennis requires. I am not talking about most of the high school players who play two months out of the year. I am talking about the boys/girls that play competitive tennis year round on the USTA jr circuit and are successful.

If you worked at the Racquet Club a few years ago you should know who he is.

It is my understanding that he dominated all of the Siegel players when he was playing. I have seen all of Siegel's players play and I have seen Jones play. The only reason you or anyone else would beat him now is because he has not picked up a racquet since last spring. How do you figure that any of you could beat him if he were still playing when he dominated all of you for years? He and Wishing are the only ones that have had any measurable success on the USTA jr circuit. Their records prove it. You need to back up your comments with more than just personal opinion. The only one that could give him a match is Wishing.

Top 100 in the Southeast I think. The kid playing #1 for Siegel is ranked high also. The method of ranking players changed 2 years ago. It used to matter who you beat but now you are rewarded for playing more tournaments. You still have to be good to get in the tournaments but good players who do not want to travel a lot can't get a good ranking.

Baseball is a game of stats. Don't accuse someone of being only interested in their stats because they want to know there OBP.

You give your coach way too much credit. Oakland has had enough talent over the years to win several state championships. Thay have underachieved if anything.

Hooligan, I respect your opinions. You are one of the few people on here that know something about tennis but you will lose credibility fast if you do not clarify your comment on the kid who decided to play baseball. Siegel #1 and #2 never came close to beating him to my knowledge. He was named the best Freshman in Rutherford County two years ago. I think you beat him in a local tournament last summer after he walked off the baseball field and had not practiced for months. It is a moot point but if he were still playing and practicing he would be the #1 player at Siegel.

There should not be separate divisions (A-AA, AAA) for singles play in the State tournament. Tennis is an individual sport in singles play. There is no division breakdown for wrestling at the state tournament. There should be one singles tourny with an expanded draw for singles. Having a A-AA, and a AAA singles tourny allows weaker players to get in the state A-AA tourny while better players get eliminated in the AAA regions. I asked the TSSAA to explain this two years ago and of course they have not responded.

I agree with Hooligan. The good tennis players are well known because they play the jr circuit. Don't reveal your ignorance by throwing out names from your high school team telling everyone how great they are. If they are really good the serious tennis players already know it.

The talent level has thinned due to the recent openings of Blackman and Siegel. Consistently dominant teams in Murfreesboro high school basesball are probably over. Oakland cannot win on talent alone anymore. If it comes down to coaching I think the other Murfreesboro schools have an edge on Oakland.

I think Siegel makes it to the Spring Fling but they do not have enough to beat Brentwood in the semifinals.

I think all of the current Siegel players are zoned for Siegel. I heard that the best tennis player at Siegel is playing baseball.
