  1. All the 2007 TSWA All-State Teams (Baseball, Softball and Boys' Soccer) will be released in late July, following the annual TSWA convention where the final selections are made based on nominations from coaches and members of the organization.

I saw something that said the convention was to start July 21, in Memphis. So announcements should be out next week.

  2. I've seen posts indicating that some teams received an automatic spot in their Region Tournament because they finished first in their district during the regular season.

Do they still play in the District Tournament?

If they do and win it, the then the team that finishes second advances as well, correct? If they don't win it, then they advance as well as the District Tournament winner, correct?

  3. QUOTE(TNsoftballfan @ Apr 2 2007 - 09:38 PM) 826428543[/snapback]Are the teams at Caswell Park considered Gold division and the ones at Sportspark Silver division? Or will this be decided in another way?

After pool play 1's and 2's from all 8 pools go to gold bracket at Caswell. 3's and 4's go to silver bracket at Sportspark.

  4. Here are tonights matchups

    Pigeon Forge @ Unicoi Co

    Elizabethton @ Rutledge

    CAK @ Gibbs

    Alcoa @ Kingston

Which 4 will advance to play Wednesday?

    Friday predictions?

  5. How about a pitcher that hits at least one batter per game? Not saying it's intentional, but it's consistent. Poor control, or poor decision?

What about a base runner that makes no attempt to avoid infielder trying to catch a popup in the baseline?

  6. most of the players not returning at halls didn't "make" the team when tryouts were held last fall.

kee moved to gibbs, will probably be at ss

for those girls to have been solid performers in 05 and not make the team for 06, they must have a great group of freshmen coming in.

or there are some political issues going on.

  7. unbelievable so of the posts regarding this game!!!! and so much childish bickering.

many games have calls that are debatable. everyone, fans, coachs, players, can get caught up in the moment and not agree with a call. from the posts about this game, the umpires were from erwin, knoxville or somewhere else, many posters have different opinions on that! one post also indicates that the alcoa girl was running to first in fair territory which is a violation, if that was what the umpire at home plate saw, that is what he is to call. coaches (including those in the stands) and fans may not have seen that. if you watch a major league game, the officials/umpires leave right after the game, they don't explain anything to anyone. it's to bad that tssaa only sends 2 to a game, which in many situations causes questionable calls. accept the calls and get on with your life.

i'm not an umpire, don't want to be. many of the posts on this topic indicate that several of you should be or want to be.

apply for it, take the grief if you can.

i bet you can't walk on water

  8. From what I heard, the umpires had to be paid for 2 games each on friday and the city had to be paid for the park. Rain or shine. I also heard that the Gibbs coach is refunding a large portion of the entry fees. Gibbs lost money on the tournament.

The city doesn't allow coolers, but each dugout had a water fountain which you don't see often.

No one was forced me to buy a weekend pass, that was my choice. I understand that a line has to drawn for kids, this time it was 5 and under.

The t-shirt vendor was there, she arrived midway through the first games. Got caught in traffic in West Knoxville. Imagine that!
