  1. Now that I got that off my chest. I have nothing against Private or Public Schools. They both have their plus points and negative points. However they are not equal. They are different hence the name Private/Public. Now why not do like the state of Mississippi and have them in a different association??? If that were the case kids woudn't go to a private school for the purpose of athletics but for academics only. I'd bet many of the athletes would go back to Public schools if that happened. B/C everyone likes to win so why not go to a Private school if you're a good athlete and kick around the Single A Public schools who have talent but have a smaller area to draw that talent. So if you change it atletes would not be so attracted to Private schools. OH and YOUR GRADES would probably improve at the Privates if those athletes come back to the Public atleast that's the way some of you seem to think. Also if you did go by the Mississippi model Public/Private could still play one another during regular season play just not during tournament time. But this will never change......Privates have the political pull to keep things just the way they are. Vouchers need I say more!!! This takes more money from the public school system. Yes I agree that the Public system needs improving but for the few of you that leave Public to Private to shelter your kids from life. You're only adding to the fall of free education for all. We need to build the Public system up in all states. No I'm not saying to do away with Private schools. I think they are great for kids that want a religious experience. They provide much for the kids that attend. The Public school system should model themselves much like the Private Schools to an extent.
  2. BOY!!!! Some real great stuff here from all these posters. Some of you guys have really proven your points and shown how trully bright you are!!! Someone mentioned how the Asian children put us to shame in Math.....Wow!!! Those kids come from Coumunism.....You know where not all are free to go to school. Our country's kids are given a free education PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. Sounds like some think we should do away with it.....Hold up that would leave only Private schools where not every child can go??????Sounds a little like our Asian counterparts. But hey maybe then the kids that get to go to school will be good at MATH!!!! If the Public School System Fails that is what you'd have. Plus some of you talk about equal.....What's equal about a school that not all kids can go only the ones that can afford it can attend. The others have to attend the lowly Public Schools where the troubled kids go. I guess what you mean is kids of low income families are troubled kids.
  3. I'm from middle Tn and would like to know the answer to that as well. I spoke of a local public high school that lost their starting short stop (Sophomore) to the local Private school in middle of the season. The kid actually told the year before how the Private school coach wanted him to come and play for him. The Private Coach told the new Public high school coach last summer that if he hadn't come when he did he would have had another one of his players. Then the kid leaves in middle of the season to play for the Private teams JV until next year when he'll play for their varsity. The other weird thing is this kids parents don't have alot of money. The father works two jobs just to pay for their 2 kids baseball esentials. So the question of how did they afford it maybe a voucher???? I don't know. But I'd like to know how that all works as well.
  4. RollRedRoll I respect your opinions. The funny thing you state above about promoting an environment of separation to impressionable kids......How many kids that live in the projects go to PRIVATE schools???? Open up your eyes!! Separation is everywhere to an extent. Most kids that go to Private schools come from upper (Primarily) to middle class families. The Public schools are full of all classes upper to lower. Before anyone mis-takes what I'm saying about classes. We're talking about how much money a family makes. Now back to what I was saying. The Private school kids have a lot more going for them most of the time compared to the Public school kids. So when they play each other and the Private dominates the Public every year it kinda knocks those kids down. Feel a little inferior. So if you make a totally different classification for the Private schools. These Public schools kids will get to experience a little more success.
  5. That's what I've said. The state of Mississippi does have the public and private sports in totally different divisions. Many wouldn't agree with that here in Tn. RollRedRoll said that we shouldn't separate he may have a point I don't know. But aren't we already separated by A, AA, AAA??? My point with separating the Private and Public sports would put an end to all of this arguing. Plus kids would go to a Private school for atheletic intentions anymore. The Private schools would still have atheletes but not as many. Kids would not be as attracted to just go for the purpose of sports. The kids they would attract would be more interested in the academics that they would get rather than like now being part of a dynasty that dominates little Public single A or AA teams. Yeah they may still attract some atheletes to their programs but not as many and thus equal out the talent in all levels. Then the kids at the smaller Public schools would experience more success in athletics.
  6. That's the tough part....I don't want to go to TSSAA until I get the evidence needed to prove it w/o a doubt. Would a kid's statement that the coach of that school was wanting him to go there be enough or do you need more?? Thanks for finally seeing where I'm coming from RollRed Roll. I'm against recruiting period! You never said what you thought about separate divisions like Mississippi. What do you think about that??? I'd like it. I want you to understand that I don't have kids myself as of yet. I also like the Private school system. That is a possibility for my kids and again I'd like the Private/Public separate Divisions. So tell me what you think.
  7. I'm from middle TN and yes you do pay a fee only if EX. Say you live in Sumner County and you work in Nashville you can send you kid to school in Nashville but you'll have to pay I think it is $500 a school year more or less since you do not pay taxes in Nashville. So I imagine that is the situation you are talking about. Public schools have no tuition, if you live in your childs school's district. So yes you would be charged if you live in one school district and send your child to school in another. Oh and yes most Public schools do have books, supplies, lab etc. fees but nothing like Private Fees. So in a way you are right but you are misleading everyone by saying that Public schools charge Tuition every semester or year. You are still going away from my point. I'm against recruiting PUBLIC or PRIVATE!!! I think highly of the Private school system as well. The problem is I know of a Private school who is recruiting and was wondering how the rules are for Private schools. That's all!! IF you recruit kids then you don't believe in yourself as a coach and you must think that the kids at your school aren't good enough to compete. That goes to Public and Private coaches alike!!! I do however believe that Private schools in single A ball have an advantage over the Public schools. So yes I believe that something should be changed like the way Mississippi does it make them separate divisions.
  8. Untrue????????? In the county where I live the Private school has kids from all 4 high schools. The 4 high schools only get kids that are zoned for their school. That's what I mean by Mississippi's way being the right way. Public schools can only get kids in their zone where Private can get kids from all zones in our County. So therefore Private and Public are different. Therefore they should remain different in sports as well. Private schools should have their own division. That's the my point. I'm not saying one is better than the other academically or atheletically. I agree they are different and should be in different divisions. So you are wrong as what I said being untrue.
  9. Well if the kid went to the Private school for several years and the Coach of the Public school approached first about playing ball for him. Then I'd say that he was in violation of recruiting. If he left the Private school for the Public school without first contact being from the Public school Coach then that is fair. Recruiting is not fair but hard to get caught on. Some people might say that the Public School in the situation you stated above is not recruiting if the kids are zoned to go to his Public school. Then to those people who say this, you would say that that wasn't fair for them to not be in violation. Then they'd say that it isn't fair that any kid in any zone can go to any Private school they want but any kid can't go to any Public school that they want. Private schools can get kids from anywhere when Public schools can only get the kids that are in their zone. You can go back and forth with this but the fact is like WJBDEVILS said the best thing to solve all problems is to do like Mississippi and let Privates have their own Division separate from Public.
  10. Good point in there somewhere! You're right if that is the parents intentions. I have no problem with that. But isn't it ironic that most of the kids who transfer are stand out atheletes??? Plus I don't think this coach recruits students for the good of the school. He doesn't approach kids and say hey I saw your name in the paper for making the Honor Roll. No he approaches kids that are stnd out atheletes. And it helps if the parents have a good income for him to work with as well. Come on man!! You can same song me all you want. What would the atheletes do if we were like Mississippi where Private schools are in their on division. They would probably stay in the Public school system. And no I don't think a kid belongs to anyone but their parents!! Anyone who thinks differnetly than that is an idiot!! I also have no problem with parents doing what you said. Private Schools provide excellent academics and have other positives as well but I only agree if it was the parents and the kids choice without any contact from the Private School's Coach!!! Now do you understand my piont??? I'm against RECRUITING!!!! PRIVATE OR PUBLIC!!! thumb thumb
  11. Then there is no worries!!! Most A or AA schools will have a few kids that could start on a AAA team but this particular Private school has almost 9 (baseball) that could start on most AAA teams. I wouldn't have a problem if the players attended the school since they were in elementary school but these kids come in from public school during their middle school years. I'm not saying all PRIVATE schools do this but I know this one does. The public A teams never stand a chance against this team and most AA teams wouldn't either. Their team is made up of AAA talent kids that would be playing AAA if they weren't there.
  12. Well public coaches can't persuade a kid from another zone to move to his zone to go to his school. If a school is guilty they can be punished by forfeiting tournament play for a year or years it depends. I have known of some public school coaches trying to persuade a kid to live w/ a parent that is zoned for his school (the kid's parents were divorced and lived in two different zones) The thing is I know for fact that a local PRIVATE school has for years been persuading kids from public middle schools to transfer to their school to play private ball. Just this year a local AAA high school team lost their starting short-stop in middle of the season to a local Private school. That's a little strange RED FLAG!!!!!! The same kid told his public coaches how the Private coach was trying to recruit him out of the 8th grade!! The kid started as a Freshman 2nd baseman then Short Stop Sophomore year. Then out of the blue the kid transfers to the Private school????????
  13. What punishment do Private Schools face for recruiting atheletes??? Also what would one have to have to present a case against a school??? Please don't use this to bash a school.....DON'T NAME ANY PRIVATE SCHOOLS....PLEASE!!!
  14. I tried to start this yesterday but it has disappeared from the boards. So again don't mention any schools just state rather or not you think it is fair. I live close to a Private school that always dominates its single A counterparts. Most of their players have not attended their school since kindergarten they transfer from their public schools just before their freshman year. Their teams are made up of AAA players so they dominate public schools who usually have 2 or 3 kids that could start on a AAA program. I just don't see it as fair for those coaches at the public schools. What do you guys think???? Again don't name any schools just give opinions on this topic.
  15. So 32 games and that is including tournaments. So when making out a season schedule a team is allowed 32 games max????
  16. RUBlind!!!

    Question

When a coach makes out a schedule, how many games can he schedule for a season along with tournaments???? Just wondering.
  17. So what would one have to do to make a case of it???? Do you need word of mouth to investigate?? Do you need a player to tell you that a Coach approached him about transferring and playing ball for him???
  18. Thanks Riverdaleman!!! Sounds like a hard thing to get caught. Does the same rules apply to Private Schools??????
  19. Guys DON'T NAME ANY SCHOOLS!!! Just give me an answer if you know the answer. Germantown has been great for many years. A kid moving is not a recruiting violation. My question again is how is a team guilty of recruiting and what is the punishment if they get caught?????
  20. I just had my topic removed and don't know why. This is not to name any schools just asking question as to what happens if a program is caught recruiting and how does a school get caught??? Again DO NOT NAME ANY SCHOOLS!!!!! Just want an answer to the question......PLEASE!!! I looked on TSSAA and couldn't find the answer to this question. So someone please answer my question as to how a school is caught and what happens?? So don't kill my topic. I just want an answer. Thanks!!
