  1. Everyone here in Cumberland County is scared to death about violence and danger stemming from a Stone Memorial High School and Cumberland County High School rivalry. But people in the sleepy little town of CROSSVEGAS need to wake up and realize how awesome it is to have this county wide competition. Just think about the pride and sense of school ownership this gives to the students, the athletes, the teachers, heck--- everybody involved with either school!!! This is great!! it gives kids a great inscentive to be the best they can be at all times. And hold the phone if you think this rivalry stops on the fields and courts!!! This is headed into the classroom, and even out into the community. Pride and tradition is something the entire Cumberland County School System lacks!! And the battle of being the best side of I-40 couldnt be better. If you ask me, its just what the doctor ordered for both schools, and Cumberland County shouldnt be worried about it. They should be excited about the great things that will come from this rivalry on and off the playin field! ;)

  2. It is a good situation for Coach Reeves. I hope it worls out for him.

Reeves is out! he left the panthers in the cold for a better position in GA. But a veteran local assistant: coach Marty Davis will be taking over. Coach Davis has been coaching in this system for years he deserves this job. And heck, he'll work harder than anyone to make his team a winner!!!

  3. I think Cookeville and Lincoln Co at the top. The rest is anyone's guess.

What do u boys wanna bet cumberland County will be better?!! The administration made a great move by hiring coach Tony Schultz. Hes a tough hard nosed guy, who believes in creating talent. The team is in much better shape than they were in last year, and there schedule has them at home for most of the season. If you ask the expert (aka ME) the jets finish third in the region and go to the state playoffs for the first time since 2003!! Jet football is on its way back coach Schultz is the REAL DEAL!!! :thumb:

  4. Alright, Listen Up everybody! Here's the most accurate scouting report on the Lady Raiders. The Oragenge team has had trouble with their back court. However, it's not due to lack of tallent ( These guards are tops in the state), But the girls just havent had the opportunity to gel. This team does have some size in the paint with 2 5'8" big girls, these two work very well together in coach Gardner's 2 post system. Out on the wing there is some absolute pure tallent, the hassler kid is as athletic as it gets. Deffensively- these girls wont be blown out by any team this season and that is accredited to some great deffense. This team hussles that's the bottom line. The Lady Raiders dont match up well with a big team that runs the floor. These girls dont have trouble getting back but the size ( not only hieght but strength) really hurt them in the phi slamma jamma c-ship. The one thing that will bring this team certain success is balance. The pressure has been on the post play throughout these first few games. If they can get some scoring out of the backcourt to go along with their great post play then these girls are a sure thing!

  5. WOW! number 1 ranked Cumberland County goes down and misses the big dance again! Looks like Shelbyville owns the Lady Jets as usual. A couple yrs ago we changed coaches because 3 substates in five yrs wasnt good enough. We wanted more so we got someone all the "experts" said would take us to the next level. Unfortunately he couldnt do any better and now he's leaving to go to Stone and we will be left looking for another miracle worker to take us beyong that point. I wonder which is worse, being number 1 and choking in the substate and not making it to the state tournament or being an underdog and upsetting teams ranked ahead of you and making it to the substate before the magic ends? I think theres more fun and excitement in being an underdog pulling upsets than choking. The underdog isnt expected to win so each time they do there is magic. When number one stumbles it breaks fans hearts.

OH YEAH! really good idea sportznut it's always better when you're expected to lose!!! What's up with that??? If any intelligent individual were asked to choose between the 2, i think they would chose to have 30 wins and then lose in the sweet 16 rather than suffer through yet another losing season and lucking our way into the sub-states. You can't knock whatt coach Smith has done with the program at CCHS. He took a team with an on average losing record and brought them to being recognized as the #1 team in the state!!! What the heck ru thinkin with a statement like this one??? Nobody wants tobe the underdog!! :thumb:

  6. This might be the most uninformed group of people posting on this thread than any i've seen this season!! This is a serious thread and you people are treating it like a showcase for your favorite player!! I'll admit, i am a homer on every subject but this one. Casha foster is a bigger asset to her team than anyone in the state. The point stat is the one that Casha is supposed to be lacking in, but just in case you uninformed spectators didn't notice: Casha had 20 points in lthe other night's lady jet win over White County. Foster is the best defender in the state unarguably!!! and to top it all off Casha'a team is in the state's top 5!! You all are ignorant for not givin foster more mention on this thread!! Hey, coach T vote for foster!!!

  7. Cleveland had 22 of 34. Yes it was like a prison team, #15 for Cleveland had 4 (HEAD RIPPING) fouls in the first half. She is a monster on the court. I think the calling was a little better than most of the games I have seen up here but it was a long night. Not to mention Cleveland point guard getting hurt and Central girls upchucking in the nearest garbage cans while waiting on foul shots to be taken.

In the boy's game a Cleveland guard had a massive cut to the head and had to delay the game for the court cleanup....... no foul called on that one.

Cleveland's point guard got gurt?? U talking about Angie Wells and how bad was that injury???

  8. A decent Cleveland team? Cleveland is very good, they are just as good as Cumberland. Don't have to worry about the pressures of #1 anymore.

Yep that's right decent!!! When you've seen the top teams in the state play you realize that Cleveland will not touch a state tournament this year, unless the lady jets give them a free pass. The Lady Radiers aren't even as good as some lower division teams the lady Jets have blazed by this season. I'd like to see the lady Raiders take on a clarkrange or a Jackson County-- 2 single A schools that would give the lady Haters absolute fits!!! Cleveland has some very talented ball players but the top spot in region 3-5AAA is Cumberland County's to lose!!! :thumb:

  9. For that matter, Bradley-McMinn-and Walker Valley are all very good. Cumberland has been a little lucky in the fact they haven't lost a region game sooner. That is no knock on them, just a testament to this region. Any of these 5 teams are good enough to win the region tournament, only problem is that one of five won't make it. As it stands now WV and McMinn would play in 1st round of district with loser being done.

You're so nieve Johnny! Do you actually think Luck is what got the Lady Jets this far??? You may be the only one who thinks this way and after the District and Regon Tournament you'll probably change your mind as well. You don't get to top 5 in the State by being "LUCKY"!!!!!! Wake up and smell the hardwood johnboy. It's time to seperate what is real from what is just someone's fantasy!!!!!!!! :thumb:

  10. ALRIGHT!!!! This is enough!! I'm sick of this entire thread and this needs to be the end of it! The Bottom line is that Clarkrange Lady Buffs fans are so shocked and deflated by a 5 losing to the Lady Jets that have to find something derogatory to say about our school. The excuse making is over at this point: it's a given that the home team will get the calls (which was evident at Clarlkrange also), and the Lady jets just beat you at your own game! Secondly, you're all being big babies about our CCHS fan base. Clarkrange has a student following that is almost non-existant, the people that follow Buffaloe ball are parents and the old guys from the local co-op. So lets end it here by saying the Lady Buffaloes have become inferior to the Lady Jets and the fogie fans are crying about it in every way they can think of!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

  11. They think they look big,but they really just make there program look bad.Its one thing to get hyped up,and chear your team on,I like to see alot of support, but its a whole different story to act like this!

It's obvious what's taking place in these last few posts; you outsiders are just jealous of one of the greatest student sections in the state of Tennessee!!! Your teams lose at CCHS, that's just the bottom line! The Lady Jets are undefeated on their home floor for 2 seasons in a row. There's a reason for that. Jut because youre not used to seeing students that are fired up and passionate about supporting their teams doesnt mean you can blatently bash a good group of kids!! :thumb:

  12. Hey Buffalo Heads!!! Remeber when you thought the fans that made the trip to Clarkrange were a little out of line?? Well, when you set foot on "The Landing Strip" it's a whole new world. There won't be a couple of rowdy die hards in the stands; your lady Buffaloes are goin to be looking at a sea of Columbia Blue we like to affectionately call the "CROSSVILLE CRAZIES". So bring your hard hats buffaloes cause it's gotten even louder at the home of the Blue and Gold!!!! <_<

  13. The Cumberland County High School Lady Jets are enjoying some time at #1 in the state's associated press pole. However, is this more than the blue and gold can handle?? Since arriving at the top spot a couple of weeks ago the Lady Jets have beaten a mediocre Rhea Co. team twice, banged out a couple of tough wins on the road, and lost a double OT heartbreaker to a decent Cleveland team. Is the pressure of being in that top spot going to effect the Lady Jets in a good or bad way?? In this situation, although i hate to put on added pressure, I must say the answer is in Head Coach Tim Smith's hands!! Every night from here on out the Lady Jets will see the "A" game from their opponent, and will this team be able to take the heat?? These are just a few questions that must be lingering in everyone's minds at this point in the season, and im interested in what the wrest of the state has to say about this. Of course, I have all of the confidence in the world for coach Smith and this special group of girls, but does anybody else think they have what it takes?? <_<

  14. Alright, it's time for me to re-enter this fray. first off: no I havent seen every player in state of Tennessee play. However, I've watched the candidates mentioned on this thread throughout their Senior year!!! (Jackie Pickel, and Allison Butler) I've seen Casha go head to head with these girls and shut them completely down offensively. Sure, scoring might be a big stat, but is there a better defender in Tennessee than Casha Foster??? Also, if your reasoning for Foster not being Ms. Basketball is because she goes to Cumberland County High School then your argument is absolutely absurd! It shouldn't matter if you go to school in a cardbaord box! If you're the best player in the state then you're the best player in the state. Oh, and as far as having the "credentials", I just want to know. If Casha doesn't have the credentials to win this award then who does?? and what does Foster Lack? Tell me that and then you might change my mind!! :thumb:

  15. Theres a lot of excellent players in all divisions expecially AAA. You must have a hatred for Pickel or something. your girl has scored 1000 points and bradley's girl 2000 in career. You can't always say what they did against each other becauseI think Pikel outscored your girl every game last year and maybe this year too. you may have a better team but it is a individual award. Last year Holly took lady raiders to the state but she didn't average alot of points so she didn't get any recognition. casha is the same way. Thats just how it is. But you shouldn't go hating on anybody in your district from bradley cleveland or anywhere. you should be proud and supporting of them. It doesn't matter where you are going to college. Rogers is at Vandy and going great. Belmont had the winner last year. but I think Insel got a steel in Pickel whether u want to admit it or not. KeKe is the winner so it really doesn't matter who else is in it and if Cait hadn't got hurt we wouldnt be having this conversation anyhow. But u probably think your girl is as good as cait. haha...

I apreciate you opinion Lady Raider, and believe it or not i'm in partial agreement with you. However, I don't feel im being a homer in this one. It wouldn't matter what team I was affiliated with I would think of Foster as being a front runner for the award. Im also being very consistent in that I felt the same way last year about Holly Rodgers. If you have the ability to carry your team on back all the way to the State tourney you deserve consideration. I like the Foster-Rodgers comparison, and I feel that Ive been very consistent in my opinions. Most of the time im an admitent homer, but not on this I just feel that night in and night out Foster is the most consistent ball player in AAA. Oh, and I wasn't about to even begin compariong anybody to Cait Macmahan so lets not falsely illustrate the opinions of others! K?? :thumb:

  16. This entire thread is sickening to me, as well it should be to everyone that actually knows women's high school basketball in Tennessee. It's absolutely rediculous how much the team u play for effects your chances of being known as one of Tennessee's best!!! If you play at a highly recruited powerhouse like Bradley Central or any where in the Roane co./Knoxville area (Cuz we all know how important women's b-ball is to this region) you are going to get all of the attention, but if your team is a recent success you don't get a fair shake. This is where i'm leading with all of this: Casha Foster is ,without a doubt, the most talented player in East Tennessee, and the Pickel argument stinks!! Foster and Jackie have gone head-to-head throughout their high school careers, and time after time Casha has proven to be a much better deffensive player than Jackie. However, many will argue that Foster isn't an offensive power like Pickel; this seems hard to justify seeing that Casha has amassed over 1,000 points in her 4 year career at CCHS. Lastly, the scholarships signed by each player may be an issue for those that haven't actually seen Foster play. This is my explaination for that: What schools get recruited?? the ones that haves major D-1 signees every year or the teams that sign maybe 2 every other year??? Carson Newman got the better player!!! Coach Insel at MTSU will regret not getting in on a player like Casha quickly as CN did. I'd take Casha over Pickel any day. So when talking Ms. Basketball let's get our hand out of the Pickel Jar and become a Foster Child!!!! :thumb:

  17. Now wait just a minute Buffaloe heads!! I think the people of cumberland county as well as everyone else in the area have lots of respect for coach Rodgers and girl's b-ball in Clarkrange. However, i don't know how "respectful" or "mature" it is for a group of proffesional adults to use this thread as a bashing point for school spirited students. You can argue all you want, but that is exactally what's taking place here. However, i'm sure that anyone from the outside looking in can see that the student bashing is only a result of a bitter fan base that is not only dissapointed about a 4 game losing streak to the girls from the CC, but also dissapointed about a lcak of student support in their community. I don't know what everyone else observed, but i watched the few students that did show from the "range" sit quietly with in their overalls with a dip in as their team lost a basketball game that the officials tried to give them!!

:rolleyes:Hey guys this is a great rivalry, and thanks for listening!!

  18. Radiojet,,,, What did he do after the last shot of the ballgame? If you said it was inexcusable it must had been bad......Please let me know so I can share it with everyone down here. Most didn't go to the ballgame and I would really like to know what he did. I am sure most of the parents do not or would not like their coach to act anyway that would be bad to us....

The Lady Cherokees were only down by 3 at the with like 8 seconds left in the game and the CCHS head coach Tim Smith called a timeout. coming out of the timeout McMinn with the ball they get the inbound pass down the floor to Frazier out on the left wing she takes the long 3 and misses miserably. well Frazier was being guarded by chelsea brown of CCHS, Frazier did a nice actin job to fall to floor after the shot. The entire McMinn coaching staff wanted the foul ( although it just wasnt a viable argument). The foul wasn't called and the Lady Cherokee head coach threw his clip board across the floor and furiously chased the officials off the floor!! Not very proffesional if you ask me!!
