  1. Let me know if I need to bring you some blue and white to wear Friday night.
  2. Gordonsville won easily against what seemed to be an undermanned Watertown team. I'm not sure about the final score but Gordonsville won by 25-30 points. I kind of lost interest once the fight broke out in the Watertown stands.
  3. Gordonsville 42 - Watertown 32. Gordonsville was very sloppy and sluggish in the first half, but outscored Watertown 27-10 in the second half. Gordonsville looked like they had a little bit of an emotional letdown in the first half following Friday's game with Westmoreland. An ugly win is better than a pretty loss any day.
  4. She slings the best elbows in the district.
  5. Easy there, big fella. When Gordonsville was down four with less than a minute and a half to go, Westmoreland with the ball, I figured the streak was over. I was trying to justify that a loss tonight wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen to this team. About as close to miraculous a comeback as I have seen in a while. Definitely as loud as the new gym has been since it opened. Congratulations to the Tigers and the Eagles on the best game I've seen this year.
  6. Gordonsville won 45-44. They trailed in the second half by as many as 12 but they allowed Westmoreland only six points in the fourth quarter.
  7. Gordonsville won by 29. They led 27-0 after one quarter. Jon Austin might have played a minute in the second half.
  8. From today's Lebanon Democrat: "We can't let our inexperience be an excuse," Lady Commander coach Deanna Teeter said. "We have to play without making bad mistakes and we didn't do that very well Saturday. We have a lot of work to do on Monday." Friendship starts 1 senior and 4 juniors. Gordonsville starts 1 senior, 1 junior, 2 sophomores, and 1 freshman. Who has more inexperience? Sounds like someone is trying to make excuses.
  9. Who won the game between Watertown and Van Buren on Jan 9? If Watertown won that game, both Watertown and FCS should have four district losses (according to the schedules on this website). This game should decide third place in the district. Watertown still has to play Gordonsville, and FCS still has to play Westmoreland. Each team should get one more district loss unless an upset happens. In this region, this year, that could happen. If FCS plays like they did against RBS last week, then they win. If Watertown plays the way they are capable of playing then they win. I don't think Watertown has anyone that can match up with Zimmerman and Hayes. My prediction is FCS by 12.
  10. Gordonsville beat Frienship by 3 or 4 tonight. Forgot to get the exact score. Jon Austin had between 25 and 30. Way to go Tigers. Setter can probably give an exact score and stats.
  11. Gordonsville 61 - Friendship Christian 42. This game was originally scheduled for Tuesday the 27th. It was made up tonight. Good win Tigerettes.
  12. After starting the season 13-3, the owlettes have lost four of their last five. I know all the arguments about 7AA being the best district in the state, but you're not supposed to lose to Cannon Co by 24 at home after beating them at their place earlier in the year. These girls are better ball players than that. Unless there are some big upsets along the way, it looks like they won't get past the first round of the district tournament again this year. I really was looking for them to start to show their mark in that district following last years tournament, and they still could pull an upset to get to the region tournament, but somewhere along the way they have to step up and stop settling for moral victories against the upper echelon of teams in the district. I pull for the Owlettes to win for the girls sake and wish them good luck in the tournament. STEP UP. BTW, did Audrey injure a knee in a recent game. I heard that she did but haven't been able to confirm it. If she did, I hope it wasn't serious.
  13. Why did Friendship cancel the games tonight?
  14. That's funny. I thought only Gordonsville fans got locked in following a Westmoreland game.
  15. I've given my opinion of the game. I'm waiting to hear all the complaining from the Westmoreland kids about the refereeing. But if you want a reply, Muffin, here it is: I've said on this website before that Gordonsville is probably not the best 1A team in the state, but their current record commands respect. They have had two very close games in the last week and were able to overcome any shortcomings they had in those games to walk away winners. To me that says a lot about the character of the team, the coach, and apparently the voters of the AP poll seem to think these boys have something good going. I'm proud of these kids for what they have accomplished, not only this year but for the job they have done in the last few years, building the program to where it is now That being said, the AP poll is a joke. Not only on the HS level, but on the college level as well. The only thing that matters, in the big picture is who is left standing in Murfreesboro at the end of the year. Polls and performance ratings don't mean squat right now. The only thing that should matter right now to the Tigers is that they put themselves in a pretty good position for the top seed in the District tournament with the win last night. The last thing I want to say about this whole deal is this. I propose that CoachT starts another category for forums called "EATING CROW". This would be for the fans that get on this website, spout off, talk trash, and badmouth other teams leading up to games, then when their team loses you never hear from them again. This forum would allow these people the opportunity to post on it, say they were wrong, and be done with it. I've bee guilty of making bad predictions on here, and have been wrong on many occasions. I try to acknowledge the errors of my predictions following the game and take my medicine. It just ticks me off that all the trashtalkers seem to disappear at their convenience. 16. You were close. Westmoreland won by8, 44-36. Sarah Jones kept Westmoreland a step ahead of the Tigerettes all night. When it looked like G-ville might get into a position to get even with Westmoreland, Jones or Franklin would hit a big shot and pull back away. BIG STAT OF THE GAME: Westmoreland forced G-ville into 24 turnovers. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on a big win.
  17. Gordonsville wins 57-51. I would like to hear comments, especially from Catalyst, Contact, and x-player. By the way, I thought Bonner had an outstanding game and Custer hit some big shots, but the Tigers kept fighting back and won the game in the last three minutes. Way to go Tigers.
  18. Get through Tuesday night before you start thinking about Friday.
  19. Let's get down to brass tacks. First of all Harville is bigger and stronger than anyone you have in the post. Your 6'4" backup center should matchup well with Gordonsville's 6'5" backup center. I was "selective" about not mentioning Westmoreland's wins over RBS the same way I was "selective" about not mentioning GHS's win over Clay County. Last of all don't go by what you hear, go by what you know. Every player Gordonsville has is a role (that's how it is spelled in this context) player. They understand what their role is within the structure of the team. Any player they have in the starting lineup could be the dominant player on any particular night, not just Austin. That's where the difference is in this year's GHS team and last year's. I've seen Westmoreland play a couple of times this year, and they have looked impressive for the most part. If they can shoot over Gordonsville's zone defense (especially Custer) it will be a great game to watch. As far as your comment about no other team in the district having two dominant players, I don't believe that Westmoreland has two dominant players. They have some very good players who can hurt you, but I don't believe that there is one dominant player in the entire league. At the end of last year, Ford from Trousdale County was dominating games but there is noone in the district that is playing at that level right now. Unless your definition of dominant is different from mine.
  20. Well yeah catalyst, they have played several teams like Westmoreland already. RBS, Clay County, Gordonsville, and Westmoreland are all very similar in style. But let's compare the results of similar matchups. GHS beat Smith Co twice, and Westmoreland got beat by SC at the Nera White Tourney. GHS beat Van Buren handily, and Westmoreland got beat by VBC early in the year. WHS has a loss to RBS, RBS has a loss to GHS. Gordonsville's loss that counts came to a very good Clay County team. The losses in the hall of fame games came to Clarksville NE, and Pickett Co. Westmoreland has lost a couple of games to Station Camp and one to Portland. What does all of this mean? NOTHING. Gordonsville has to get past Trousdale Co on Tuesday before they can worry about Westmoreland, and WHS has to play Macon still. Friday night will get here soon enough. Everyone has said all along that these were the two best teams in the district this year and no matter what happens this week, they will probably meet again in the district tournament. That's when it will count.
  21. Rich got ejected from the Carthage game last year for kicking someone. I've seen her kick chairs, cuss other players, sling elbows, and backtalk Sims. CCHS will be much better off without her next year. She has absolutely the worst attitude of any player I've seen. Having intensity is one thing, being out of control and trying to intentionally injure another player is something totally different.
  22. Any thoughts on the outcome of this one? Both teams were beaten by Van Buren withing the last week, and both teams beat Friendship within the last week. All the results were pretty similar and the two played each other to a two or three point game in last years district tournament at Watertown. Should be real close. Gordonsville by 3.
  23. I've seen Gordonsville play every game this year. While I agree they probably aren't the best team in the state, they are deserving of being in the top 10. The AP polls (or any polls for that matter) don't matter in the least because the whole thing has to be decided on the court in Murfreesboro. I will say this. David Watson has to be considered one of the top coaches in Class A. When he took over this team this year's seniors were freshmen. The coach that was there left over the christmas break and Coach Watson took over. That year they didn't win a game until the last game of the year. He instilled a concept of team play and hard defense that the boys bought into and it is paying off this year. For the last couple of years they have depended on Jon Austin to carry them, but now other players have matured and have been able to step up and they have several players that can hurt you. Regardless of where they should or shouldn't be ranked doesn't matter. What Coach Watson and the Tigers have accomplished over the last few years is commendable and should be noticed throughout the state.
