  2. How good will Central be this year now that some of their youth will be older and more developed and from what I have heard is that they have gotten quite a few newcomers(as inn transfers) that will help them this year? What do you all think honestly?

Schedule appears favorable for a pretty good year. The bobcats return good ballplayers and that certainly will help. Central was not a bad team last year, just a few injuries and unlucky breaks cost them the playoffs. Who is transferring if you don't mind me asking?

  3. whtatheheck -

    - You make some really good points. My comment at the "mystery" LB was at uknowme, who claims the PrepXtra LB's were a joke (implying their stats were not as good as others, thus they couldn't be as good). I claimed I thought the players were deserving at that position.

    - I agree that great players can be on weak teams. But I also believe that QBs and LBs can be great without great stats, simply by leading their teams to greatness. I know I'm old fashioned, but I like the old days when peolple would do their jobs and allow others to make the tackle - not seeking personal glory but team success.

I must have missed something. I never claimed that PrepXtra LB's were a joke. They are all really good athletes, so please do not put words in my mouth. I simply inquired about the process. Again, let me ask in another way. How does it make since that the same people that nominate and often select as their pick week to week defensive players of the week, pick 1st and 2nd PrepXtra all KIL players that weren't nominated or selected as frequently, and in some cases not at all, as others? Sure, to an extent this is possible, but multiple week picks that weren't on 1st or 2nd team? Come on, anyone can see the system has problems. It's not as if only one LB was chosen; there are several total that make up 1st and 2nd team. Is it possible that players are recognized for great defensive play throughout the season, but aren't even on the radar in the final picks? If the panel thought these were the best linebackers and put together their PrepXtra teams, why didn't some of them ever get selected during the season as the pros' pick? These are the same people, you know? Finally, without mentioning names, you stated that you thought the players were deserving at that position. Then please explain why one of them didn't see a single snap at linebacker in the KY TN Border Bowl. Surely, he's not one of the best linebackers in the area. It doesn't make him a joke, just not one of the best. Please help me understand.

  4. uknowme-

    - I have to agree with sx123 - stats are for losers (my opinion).

    - I'm not sure which region your son plays in, but my son plays in reion 3-4a (for Halls). - We palyed against Maryville, and scored 7 points. We played against Central and scored 23 points, South Doyle and scored 38 points. Thus - Maryville's defense was MUCH better than either, hands down, bare none, no where close. However, according to the stats Central and South Doyle both had 4 players each with more tackles for the year than anyone on Maryville's team.

    - How can anyone in their right mind think that these two teams had 8 players better than anyone on Maryville's defense? Truth is, we had many 3 and outs against Maryville(not many tackles), as did most teams. That is a sign of a good defensive player, not how many tackles he made.

    - Cody McCoy made All PrepXtra from Maryville. He was by far the best linebacker in our region! I saw them all. Many - maybe 5-8 had more tackles. That means nothing. Cody sacrificed himself against us, drove himself and our lineman into the ground, and helped cause his TEAM to stop us on many three and outs. He played TEAM defense, didn't worry about stats, and got the job done. That my friend is what defense is about.

    - By the way, I have no idea who McCoy's family is and would not recognize him if I saw him on the street. I just get tired of this generation of stats.

    - I can't think of anyone better at LB in the prepxtra area than those listed. Maybe you can enlighten us. Three players played in the clinic bowl - can't argue about those selections (like I said, few points allowed by team defines good defenses, and good defenses are made up of good players). That leaves Cole Lail (over 300 takles in the last two years - showed what he could do on a phenominal defense last season) and Tyler Richardson (team went a few rounds in playoffs).

    - Like I said, I can only speak for region 3-4a. In our region, they picked the right guy. (I saw them all) No one else was close.

Winning football games is actually a sign of a winning TEAM, not individual players. The kid I'm talking about actually did play in this region, but he did not play linebacker against your Halls team. He was definitely the best linebacker in the region no question about it. I saw them all, too. You can disagree if you wish, but you are simply wrong.

  5. Let me quote somebody who taught several young men in knoxville for several years how to play the game,

"If you need a piece of paper to tell you who can play, you probably don't know much about the game"

no knock on the kid, but, stats, specifically tackles, can be very miss leading information. A tackle made 20 yards down field counts the same as a tackle made at the line of scrimmage on paper, but in reality, we all know it doesn't. some voters/sports writers realize this, most don't. that is why he may have made one poll but not another.

Wow. I feel so stupid now I didn't realize this before. Unless you know who I'm talking about don't make assumptions about tackles 20 yards downfield. He had 9 sacks, 16 TFL and was easily the best linebacker in the region.

  6. check the KNS

How could a kid who was nominated twice for prepxtra defensive player of the week and actually won it once be left off of all- prepxtra? Maybe one of the experts who picked this team could explain that for me. This kid was TACA allstate and led his region in tackles and he's not even 2nd team prepxtra. Congratulations to those who made it, but you've got to wonder sometimes what it takes to get selected for these things.

  7. It would seem that someone who is an expert in everything would know how to spell a persons name that he thinks is the answer to the OR coaching search. It is hard to have an intelligent discussion with someone that knows everything and it is time to move on to something more important than reading about a person patting themselves on the back. This person is out of here. The horse is dead and the meat is rotten.

"I think we all (or most of us) know who the jerk and idiot is in this conversation. Move on to something else."

Well, aren't you just a modern day Judge Ito. Or should I say Barney Fife. If you're finished with a live thread, leave. Don't go away mad, just go away! Who are you to make such determinations? If you have control over a thread you don't like, close it. Otherwise, let people fuss if they want to.

  8. And now I am done ( or is out a Hipper term)

For future reference, "out" is a military term used to end a radio communication (i.e. "red falcon out," or B14 out"). It has nothing to do with "Hip" lingo; it's simply standard military radio protocol. Because Rome and others use it doesn't mean they use it correctly. I apologize for failure to break old habits and for confusing you. Please accept my sincere request. You have your opinion; I have another. Remember, opinions without compassion equals ruthlessness. Now, I'm really out.

  9. See you DONT know me or the amount of time I put into my job. I am in the line of fire and not sitting in the stands. I do not have a negative attitude just because I dont like Ronnie carter. I volunteer more hours than your precious Ronnie Cartert or you ever did or will You are an idiot and you have NO idea what I do or the quality of my work. So JERK YOU CAN JUST BLOW IT OUT YOUR EAR!!!

Oh, so now I'm an idiot and a jerk? You don't know me either, yet you make judgments about the number of hours I volunteer like you would know. You, Mr. educator, are classless. I'll bet you are wonderful at your job. I still stand in support of Carter's work regardless of the negativity of those such as yourself. The support on this thread speaks for itself, but I guess no one knows him like you do. I'm out.

  10. Perhaps, you are one of those kiss butt lackeys that have been part of the elitest biased supporters of Carter.

And I do have an opinion and a right to say what I think on here. I pay my $ 12 just like every else so I say what I please. I have identified myself on coacht sevreral times so I am not hide behind a screen name.

I have had my issues with him as a coach and an administrative person. But I will not air out all the dirty laundry because I do wish to use kids names.

So if you support him, say so. But if you are like me and glad to see him go, feel free to say so as well.

As far as that ocean front property, I couldnt even afford it in Flintville with my paltry salary as an educator. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

First, you chose to be an educator just like many others; however, many of us don't complain about the salary because we chose the profession. That statement just shows your negative attitude! Secondly, I did and do support him. Finally, I kiss no one's butt; I simply support and respect hard work when I see it. There are three kinds of people in this world: those who do, those who watch it get done, and those who don't even know it happened. You are the kind that watch it get done and then complains about it. If you don't like it, get involved to change it. Don't sit in the stands and object to every call. Get on the "field" and demonstrate how to do it right.

  11. wrong and wrong

Know him and watched his actions abd decisions for over 30 years.

and yes I have told him what I have thought.

Sure you have! I guess you have ocean front property in Blaine too. If you've known him for 30 years, you would also know that there are no easy answers or solutions to the problems and issues he faced; therefore, you would not have the opinion you previously voiced. Your argument doesn't hold water. Folks with your opinion (mostly disgruntled pretenders that think they have the answer for everything) are in the minority; I assure you of that.

  12. GOOD RIDDANCE YOU POMPOUS ARROGANT JERK!!!!!

It's easy to make bold statements about someone I'm sure you don't know personally when you hide behind a screen name. First, if you knew him, you wouldn't make ignorant statements (ignorant because you don't know what you're talking about); second, I'd bet a double cheeseburger that you wouldn't say it to his face. Thanks, Ronnie, for all you've done. Your leadership will be missed!

  13. Congrats to Kier and to Devin from Powell on making the list. I really thought the panthers might get one more on defense, either Cardio, Phillips, or Barnes. All had outstanding years and led the Panthers to their best season in recent memory. I got the chance to see Kitzmiller and Fletcher at the South Maryville game their JR years. Both those kids can play some ball. I was especially impressed with Fletcher, hard nosed tailback who really stuck it up in there well. I thought Coach Carter kinda got away from what got them there against Maryville that year and just tried to rely on Curt too much. I'm a firm believer that Knoxville football is a cut above NET football, but for sure, Fletcher could start for the majority of the teams in this area from what I saw that night. And from everything that I heard out of that area the Beadle kid and the Davenport kid had great great years so congrats to those guys as well. As for Barnes, according to Prepxtra.com he recorded 92 total hits (54 solo and 38 assists) as well as 7 sacks and 2 interceptions...for a defensive end that is an incredible year. Further, not that voters could have considered this, but Barnes plays in Powell's 3-3-5 stack defense which makes it a little bit tougher to make plays for a defensive lineman, but I'm sure that all the kids that made it were well deserving. I'm just trying to get Barnes a little pub. Watch out for the Stone kid from Clinton next year he's going to be special next year and that team will have plenty of success to get them the press coverage too. Oh and lastly, the Revis kid from Rhea County can really play as well, I'm a little surprised that his teammate (don't know his name but i believe he committed to MTSU) is a physical freak. Huge kid who moves really well for a big man. I think he'll be an impressive college lineman and has a chance to get paid to play if he works hard enough. Thanks to all the high school heroes who made this year a whole lot of fun. Let the countdown begin.

I agree completely that Barnes deserved to be on the TSWA All-State team. He had a great year. It would have been nice to see Central's Wolfenbarger (166 total hits, 8 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries) on the team. But he did make the Coach's All-State team and will play in the KY/TN Border Bowl. We need to congratulate all who made either team.

  14. You appear to know allot more than anyone else on here knows. I agree about the good ole boys club and politics. How sad the ones not choosen but where told 3 weeks ago they were in, then in formed this monday they were not. guess all that bull they learned in school about being the best you can, being a good example was there mistake of believeing adults who are in charge and supposidly respondsible. so much about being a good parent and being an example. How sad these children must realize the truth of life. no wander theres so much hostility coming from the American people and gangs. guess the Gangs have it right after all. are u one of the politically correct informites. must be ,the way you allude the above respondes with your comments you must be a recruiter and a poor one at that. come on lets here how you are going to take up for the bowl now. The national guard chooses, well right, look at how they potrol our national boarders. how much money under the table did they make from the parents or coatches of the players choosen?

    What???

  15. Pretty close to an All State selection. The backfield is spot on. That would take UT back to the days of a real running game.

How about Wolfenbarger from Knox Central at LB. 166 tackles, 9 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, several tackles for loss in a tough region 3.
