What a summary. BHS has been shutout in 8 of 14 meetings since 2009. Including a run of 6 years without scoring a point against MHS.

  2. Big night for Sub-state tonight. I think Wm Blount bounces back and beats D-B in Kingsport but beating the defending state champs on their floor will be tough. I think Karns takes it over Sevier County. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.

  3. Finally! This thread picked up some steam this week. I'm looking forward to this matchup tonight. Two veteran teams with scorers getting up and down the court. If nothing else, I'm excited to see some new blood representing region 2 in the sectionals.

  4. Two great games and great crowds on hand tonight. Bearden had a strong lead going into the 4Q but WB battled back to win 54-51. The Govs now 30-4 on the season after beating Bearden for the 4th time this season.
Karns rode the emotion and home court advantage to eliminate OR 78-72. Beavers playing some good ball right now. Regional championship should be a great game between two really good teams playing well at the right time.

  5. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Karns: Region Semifinals

Bearden vs Wm Blount 6:00 PM - Wm Blount is looking to beat Bearden for the fourth time this season. They last played in the district 4 semifinals with the Govs winning 64-41 over the Bulldogs. Prior to this season, the Govs had not beaten Bearden since 2004.

Karns vs Oak Ridge 7:45 PM approx. - Karns is looking for their first win over the Wildcats this season. Oak Ridge has won 26 consecutive games in this series dating back to 2013. The two previous matchups this season have been 54-59 and 67-64 wins for the Wildcats. **Stats have not yet been confirmed and approved by David Clary.

You were right on all 4 teams. Oak Ridge played some lock down defense tonight. A 20-3 3rd quarter shellacking was the difference. Congratulations to HVA on their best basketball season yet.

Yes like I thought. Although I didn’t expect every game to end in lop-sided scores. The Karns-Farragut game was close until half. The Beavers sunk 4 free throws with no time left to take a 31-25 lead into half. Then Karns dominated the 3rd/4th quarters. Looking forward to great semifinal matchups at Karns Tuesday.

If karns loses then it go to central , but if they lose and wb wins then it will be at wb…  karns has lost 2/3 to Farragut this year but Farragut has lost 3/4 recently

Interesting matchups all throughout the quarters. Farragut has beaten Karns twice but that was back at Thanksgiving. They played again in early January with Karns winning by 4. None of the other matchups have played this year. I think WB is the class of the region and OR just behind them. Karns is playing as well as they have all year right now. HV and Farragut are scrappy and capable of winning Saturday. I think Bearden will beat Central but the Bobcats showed they can beat a strong team with the win over OR. IMO, I think Karns, OR, Bearden & WB move on to the semis but anything can happen this time of year.

What would happen if Karns wins District 3 tournament, but loses first round of Region?   Would the Region then be hosted at Central, assuming that they win?

My understanding is that the Semis & Championship will be at Karns no matter whether they lose in the quarterfinals or not.

  9. Karns & Wm Blount win the district tournaments. OR and Bearden win the consolation games tonight. No game was really close either. Matchups set for Saturday’s R2 Quarters:

    Farragut at Karns

    Oak Ridge at Hardin Valley

    Bearden at Central

    West at Wm Blount

  10. District 4 Semifinals:

    Wm Blount 64 Bearden 41

    Hardin Valley 56 Farragut 48

Seeding left to decide on Tuesday but we know Oak Ridge & West will travel to Wm Blount or Hardin Valley, and Bearden & Farragut will travel to Karns or Central for the Region quarterfinals.

Region 2 Semifinals & Finals will be played at the winner of the Karns/Central championship game this year.

  11. District 4 tournament:

    Bearden beat Maryville 50-43

    HVA beat Heritage 63-28

Both will advance to the semifinals on Saturday night

Region 2 qualifiers are set: Bearden, Central, Farragut, Hardin Valley, Karns, Oak Ridge, West, & Wm Blount.

  12. Night 1 of district 3 tournament:

    Central beat Powell 71-68

    West beat Campbell Co 76-62

Central & West qualify for the region 2 tourney next week.  Central will play Oak Ridge at 7:30 Friday while West will play Karns at 6:00 Friday in the district semis. The district 3 champion will host the region 2 tournament next week.

District 4 tournament kicks off tonight:

Maryville plays Bearden at 6:00 at Farragut

loser eliminated and winner will play Wm Blount 6:00 Saturday

Heritage plays Hardin Valley at 7:30

loser eliminated and winner will play Farragut 7:30 Saturday

Man, that is scarry looking at that chart. A bunch of good teams. You're right, 8 teams there that could advance.

Funny thing is, the #5 team in district 4 will be a very good team that won't even make it to region

  15. Big schedule tonight in district 4 to close out the regular season district schedule. Wm Blount and Farragut play for the top seed and regular season championship. But a HV win would give them a tie with the WB/Farragut loser as they would share 7-3 records and split each series with WB & Farragut in the regular season. If Maryville wins then the top 1-2 remain WB/Farragut, #3 HV, #4 Maryville, #5 Bearden, #6 Heritage for district seeding. The top 2 seeds in D4 qualify for regions due to the byes in the district tournament.

    DIVISION I · DISTRICT 4

    7:30 PM  Heritage 12-14  Bearden 15-10

    7:30 PM  Hardin Valley 21-6  Maryville 16-10

    7:30 PM  Farragut 17-10  William Blount 24-4

  16. Final week of regular season contests before district tournaments start in Districts 3 & 4 around Knoxville. I see the race to the Region might well be wide open this year. It's good to see some parody around the region again and not just a 2 horse race. I truly think any of the top 8 teams could have a legit shot of qualifying for the sub-state. Should be fun to follow in the next couple of weeks.

    Rank Team Region Overall
    1 William Blount     24-4 85.7%
    2 Hardin Valley     21-6 77.8%
    3 Oak Ridge     20-3 87.0%
    4 Karns     19-7 73.1%
    5 West     17-7 70.8%
    6 Farragut     17-10 63.0%
    7 Maryville     16-10 61.5%
    8 Bearden     15-10 60.0%
    9 Heritage     12-14 46.2%
    10 Knox Central     12-14 46.2%
    11 Campbell County     9-14 39.1%
    12 Powell     8-18 30.8%
