  1. Only if you answer how 1 school (a public school) wins the VAST majority of the championships first.
  2. I'm sure the bank sees it the same way when the mortgage payment is due too.
  3. Here is a post that is relevant to the title of this thread: Liberty Tech is ranked #18 Nationally in the SI.com poll. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/high...rankings/1.html Hmmm ... How does that happen so quickly? National prominence in just a few short years.
  4. It would be the Salem Private ... err, Witch trials all over again!
  5. Looking deeper ... 6 out of 9 years during that period were public domination years. That is 66.7%. Yikes! Private ... err, Public domination. I'm failing to see the private domination.
  6. That still doesn't change the fact that they won 4 of 9 1A championships that they were eligible to win. 44.4%. Nothing else to say really ... that is domination ... no one private has had that kind of domination. 44.4%. Does anyone know if they lost in the championship game on the rare years that they didn't win it? I'm asking because apparently some private haters have argued in the past that just making it to the championship game is apparent domination (see Goodpasture and Lipscomb "domination" threads).
  7. Huh??? All the privates had the multiplier applied at the same time. The just happened 2 years ago for all of them. JCS and FCS just happen to be so small that they still fell in 1A. I highly doubt any 1A teams would have beat TC most of those years including the 2 years they were put out very late in the playoffs ... like semifinals by 1 point by Fulton.
  8. Ok ... let's look at it this way ... TC was "out" of 1A for 4 years. Again, I'm not a math whiz but that means that TC has won 4 out of 9 of the championships that they had a chance to win - or 44.4% of the time. I suspect they would have at least won 3 of 4 they were in 3A since they had extremely strong teams those years too. 44.4% of the time sounds dominating to me. Not one single privates has been remotely close to that kind of domination. Don't get me started about Alcoa, Maryville, and Riverdale.
  9. I'm not a math whiz, but by my count since 1993: Trousdale - 4 Championships South Pitt - 2 DCA - 2 CPA - 2 JCS - 1 Boyd - 1 Ezell - 1 BGA - 1 Who is dominating again? Ha.
  10. Hmmmmmm ..... I wonder when a private has the same attributes they are automatically labeled cheaters? And I love how public supporters hang their hats on TC losing to a private for the first time in no telling how long as the world ending ... as if TC could not possibly be beat by a private unless the private is cheating. Ha.
  11. I can name some of those schools: Alcoa Maryville Oak Ridge Hmmmm ... do I see a winning pattern there? Privates are the "debil"! (My bad attempt at Waterboy movie humor)
  12. That is almost correct. It isn't a state specific organization, it has schools in GA and AL too. I can't remember the name of it either, but it is the same league that MJCA used to play in.
  13. That's not what I'm saying at all. BUT ... once the publics have ZERO say in how privates operate ... the publics really, really won't like the rules they develop to self govern themselves.
  14. We "could" and I'm guessing at some point "will" have our own league and rules. However, those rules WILL affect public schools. Once out from underneath TSSAA rules, don't you think the privates will be officially recruiting public school student-athletes? Look at some of the privates in Texas as reference. I don't doubt that Marco Daily is getting some looks by some college schools (the kid is a beast) ... but could you imagine a private without any TSSAA ties or rules visiting him in say junior high or even into high school and saying "we can get you a shot at a SEC school AND make sure you have the academic training to succeed in life in a structured environment." That is what all the public schools are signing up for with a forced split.
  15. Uh, Temples schedule was weak and the reason for the lofty record. Trousdale was down big time from their normal standards (for heavensakes they lost to the Night Chickens finally). Giles County made a huge turn around. So did the likes of Mt. Juliet. Both went deep into the playoffs after very mediocre years previously. Heck, Giles was one stop in the final minute of the game from putting 3A finalist Lipscomb out.
  16. So now just making it into the playoffs is considered dominant? Sounds like you have a rather fickle definition of what "dominant" means.
  17. Your comment about MP going 0-10 to 8-3 says it all. The problem is that you its OK for a public to make that kind of turn around with transfers and hard work ... but a private doesn't have that right. And Temple wasn't a threat to win a state title either.
  18. I don't remember either Knox Catholic or Notre Dame winning a state championship. Nor do I remember DCA or EH progressing beyond the first or second round of the playoffs since moving to 2A. Really? I don't think so. Maybe it's because the "dominant" privates are being cherry-picked and the week privates are being left out of the discussion. How about the Temples (yes, historically week), MJCA, Zion, and on and on.
  19. Well aware of it fellow FCS alum. Just using historical info to question the so called private school "dominance".
  20. Publics DO win more than privates already when you talk shear numbers. Head to head games (which is how we play in the real world) takes the shear number of publics out of the equation and makes it a 1:1 match on a game by game basis. So I'm guessing that you should have said was that publics should win more head to head match ups. I have 2 responses to that. 1. Why? and 2. They probably do. People don't take into account that only a few privates are dominant still playing in D1 now. FCS, JCS, and a fluke year by Temple this year (a usual whipping post). Then you have Goodpasture and CPA in 2A ... the rest mediocre. Then you have Lipscomb in 3A. That's pretty much it. And it is discrimination if you exclude a group. I don't remember Baldie playing any race cards or calling anyone uneducated. Funny how that card is played by the other side when he has great responses.
  21. We'll have to define open-zoned. My definition is that there isn't a strict boundary whether 100 ft or a county line where kids from outside can not attend under any circumstances. Using that definition, the following are open zoned: Maryville Alcoa Melrose (and all of Memphis including the dominant basketball schools) Hillsboro All magnet schools including basketball powers MLK, Liberty, and football power Tyner Funny how their programs are dominant huh?
  22. That's the case everywhere. Kids are kids and they do make mistakes from time to time. Often times, it takes a big mistake for something drastic like that to happen. If it is true, hopefully the young man will learn something from the situation.
  23. Dear Rosie - I don't know ... but it goes to show that athletes don't receive preferential treatment if it is true.
  24. I guess that makes you Rosie. Which is hilarious since I know who you are too. How's your daughter? I think you forget that I have relatives that are recent graduates (several over the last 6 years) from Night Chicken land.
  25. Actually, his older brother (who is tragically not with us in the world anymore) spent the night at my house for 3 nights when that little rugger was born. So I'm pretty sure that I know the family very, very well. You can spin it how you want (and he was not dismissed) ... but a Donelson to Hartsville "move" seems weird since his parents still live in the same house huh? Scores ... there are tons and tons over the years. I can guarantee you that there are folks that could name 3-4 at Maryville and Alcoa right now. Run that over a 4-5 years and we are quickly approaching ... :gasp: ... SCORES! Addition ... something I think a certain school zone should think of adding to the curriculum I think. I agree. Certain publics shouldn't be given a pass when some of the others have limitations. But I do disagree that it is a HUGE advantage. It is the one and only reason why Alcoa and Maryville are as dominant as they are.
