1. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 21 2007 - 03:20 PM) 826419513Unfortunetly it was me, Matt Baltimore and a guy from Riverdale in the mile. I ran even splits but the other two took off leaving me after 2 laps.

And the 800 I just ran slow as usual.

Just run a 1:10 first lap and then pretend you are anchoring your 4x400 team. That should set you up pretty well. I know it is hard after a mile and not much rest, but remember that there will be much more time in the imporatant meets for recovery. Training yourself with little recovery at regular season meets will definitely pay off on May 10th. Happy trails....

I'm going to send Coach Parks the results from our meet tomorrow, so watch out for the "sick" factor. I actually don't even know if Clabo will run tomorrow. He was feeling pretty rough after 7.5 miles today and a busy week. I may put him in the 100 just to confuse everyone. Being a track coach is a lot like being a teacher...it's all about messing with minds.

  2. QUOTE(AEtheridge @ Mar 21 2007 - 09:17 AM) 826419199In Section 1 AAA, I'll put my money on Stuart Chandler and Maclean O'Donnell at the front. Other possibilities: Tom Gilmartin , Josh Vazquez, Emerson Peacock, Ben Shassere. There are surely others, as well. I don't think Sonnenfeldt will run it.

I definitely agree with your top picks. You have to be scared of Gilmartin and Vasquez. I would love to see Sonnenfeldt run it, but my gut instinct says he won't.

    4:53 and 2:19 today.

awesome. any competition or was it all you?

  4. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 20 2007 - 06:40 AM) 826418174You'd let me go mid-season?

Not going to lie if I had to transfer (cause I'd rather not) I'd end up choosing Oak Ridge.

Sick Coach GPHS? This intrigues me. Tell me more.

Don't blame you. I would go to OR as well. I'll elaborate on the sick thing once we work out a few kinks.

  5. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 19 2007 - 08:58 PM) 826417916Add a couple more miles and maybe I'll just pull out that 3:55 I ran in my sleep.

Once Clabo and Owens are gone, I may share some training secrets with you. Until then, just keep to the mantra of "long slow training produces really phenomenal runners." We're gonna be sick this year, Conig. Sure you don't want to transfer?

  6. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 19 2007 - 06:23 PM) 826417813Matt Coniglio

    CCS

It was at a race over last summer in China.

But I run distance so you panseys don't have to deal with me.

With that kind of speed, you should work on your endurance. I bet you could run a 49 in 400 if you added a mile or two into your workout plan. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  7. QUOTE(etowntrack21 @ Mar 18 2007 - 06:43 PM) 826416566well im sure gphs has some good quility teaching too and what place did you finish last year in regionals and i dont even remember youall being any competion and did gphs even have anyone in sectionals

we finished 4th at regionals and 6th at sectionals, with just three athletes competing. our team is huge this year. last year at state, we had a runner-up in the 3200, edged out by your own josh jaynes at the finish line. no disrespect, i just can't see you guys dominating without jj to score 40 points for you.

    best of luck.

  8. QUOTE(etowntrack21 @ Mar 18 2007 - 12:48 PM) 826416191o we will make it to state and beat us at regionals and sectionals good luck ok and i dont know who was talking crap bout 14 15 year old leauge shutting down but that is sad but we are confident thaqt we will win regionals and sectionals cause weve been working our ###### off since football season ended and i dont see nothing wrong with that so good luck to you all

well, if you guys run half as well as your English department teaches, I'm sure you will win regionals, sectionals, and state. you may even may some noise on dyestat.

    may the best team win.

  9. QUOTE(crazzyness @ Mar 18 2007 - 05:04 AM) 826416049Maybe you should look into things before you talk about something that you have no idea about. These etown track pricks have been on baseball and softball boards talking crap to other schools in the county. They even went as far as talking crap about 14 and 15 year old babe ruth kids saying that no one cares that their leauge got shut down. So don't you give me a friggin lecture on sportsmanship or class.

And "a tad over confident?" Please! Once (more like if) these brats get to state, they'll be embarresed by some REAL athletes from middle and west tennessee.

All I'm saying is don't stoop to their level. Be better than they are.

  10. QUOTE(crazzyness @ Mar 16 2007 - 04:19 PM) 826414314Nobody cares about Elizabethton track. Ecerybody hates you guys. Elizabethton track is more feminine than two gay guys fighting over a tube of lip gloss.

Show some class, please. Yes, Elizabethton is a tad over confident, but cut them some slack, they have a strong tradition of excellence and egos.

We all have the best team in the state, right? Don't forget about sportsmanship and keep the boards clean.

  11. QUOTE(TrentDilfer? @ Mar 16 2007 - 07:44 PM) 826414524haha, I like that. 4:35 and 2:07 are both very solid times early in the year. Is he going to try and triple with the 3200, 1600, and 800 or was he just running the 800 to see what he could do?

He has run the 3200, 1600, and 800 as well as the 4x400 in every major meet for the past 3 years. He hasn't been as successful in the 800(didn't even make a sectional qualifying mark his freshman year). His speed has improved a lot...ran a 56 4x400 split at Gibbs on Monday after a 2:05 split on the 4x800 and that 2:07 800.

I know he wants the double title in 3200 and 1600, we'll wait and see about the possibility of the 800.

  12. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 15 2007 - 11:06 PM) 826413603Nice to see Clabo running quickly early on.

yeah. i think he is a little burned out on the 3200 after indoor season. he's focused on speed right now. get scared. how are you doing conig?

  13. QUOTE(etowntrack21 @ Mar 15 2007 - 10:34 PM) 826413529p.s. we will stll be good just keep looking over us we love it just ask Dobyns bennet science hill and tennessee high /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm not looking you over, I just think it will be hard to win a title without distance and field events. Sure, you have Jordan Ray in the shot, but what else do you have? A guy that high jumps 5'0"?

  14. QUOTE(Wareag1e @ Mar 15 2007 - 10:12 PM) 826413494He has a younger brother Taylor, probably a better 400 runner than a 200 runner. The boys only had freshmen and soph. and the girls were all freshmen. Our 4x8 should be strong again, probably faster this year.

4x800 faster? very scary. best of luck. can't wait to meet y'all again. i just wish all of our girls could get healthy and injury-free. good luck.

  15. QUOTE(etowntrack21 @ Mar 15 2007 - 08:33 PM) 826413357well buddy i thought he did it says on tennesseerunner.com he did ok and what place did u all finish in state we finshed 5th with 5 people

p.s. josh jaynes and jordan peters graduated.

  16. QUOTE(Wareag1e @ Mar 15 2007 - 09:59 PM) 826413462I was impressed with how you all ran the other night. I was kinda hoping that Clabo would run the 3200 at Gibbs, I wanted my younger guys to see him run, but I'm sure they'll get more chances later this year. He looks really strong, I'll be rooting for him, as long as one of my guys isn't running against him of course. BTW Mitchell didn't run Monday, he was in NYC with the rest of the seniors, and the Juniors were in D.C.

Does he have a brother, because there was a Moran listed on the score sheet?

I'm glad to know you guys were holding back...I was worried for you. Especially in the girls 4x800.

  17. Just got back from a meet with Pigeon Forge, Cosby, and Cocke Co. GP won by 102 points (without completing the 300 hurdles, discus, or triple jump due to rain). Clabo only ran two events: the 1600 in 4:35 and anchor of 4x400, 3:57 (same team ran a 3:49 on Monday).

Things are coming together nicely for the highlanders.

Ryan Robertson won the shot with a throw of 43'5".

Bo Owens won the 3200 easily with an 11:22 and then went on to win the 400 in 56.12 and the 200 in 24.69 before running the 4x400.

These were the only 3 competitors we had at sectionals last year and finished 6th. Just wait until we are fully loaded.

Jeremy Jester is on track to be a strong contender in the high jump. 5'8" on Monday at Gibbs (I made him stop after he won at 5'2" today). He also won the 200 on Monday, beating Mitchell Moran from CAK(2nd at sectionals last year). He crashed on 110 hurdles today, so I made him call it quits for the day.

    Our 4x800 team ran a 9:03 on Monday and Clabo rocked a 2:07 800.

I'm not trying to be like Elizabethton and talk trash, I just want everyone to be prepared.

    Happy Running!

  18. QUOTE(uchsdecatholete @ Mar 15 2007 - 11:36 AM) 826412805who is Ryan Williamson? what is his best events?

His best events are the 400(:51) and long jump(20ish)/triple jump(40ish). I think he is high jumping about 5'6" right now and hurdling around 16. Last year at sectional decathlon he ran a 4:44 1500 never having trained for it. Believe me, he's very good.

  19. As far as decathlon goes, my money is on Ryan Williamson from Seymour. He finished second at state last year, only learning to pole vault the week before. He had a fantastic indoor season running with Knoxville Track Club. He will win.

  20. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 7 2007 - 05:42 PM) 82640386410:02. One of the girls isn't running track this year (the one that went 12:04 to be runner up in the 3200). She had always hated it all along. She's a beastly soccer player too.

    Haha on Duble.

    1 Christian Academy of Knoxville 'A' 9:47.76 10

    2 Chattanooga Christian School 'A' 10:02.08 8

    5 Notre Dame 'A' 10:15.15 4

    7 Anderson County 'A' 10:27.37 2

All four of these are from East. I dunno if she could do that... but if she could... I hate it for the state. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

East girls should be tough. CAK is hands down the team to watch. I think their team last year was all freshmen and sophomores. I hope my memory serves me incorrectly. Plus, that time is sick...I wish I had boys that could run that fast! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  21. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 6 2007 - 10:25 PM) 826402943What 4x8 team?

Seriously. We may not have one. At least until our 2 mid distance girls (both are new sophs) can do it. I don't think Duble wants to do 2 or 3 legs of the race.

We have a meet thursday verses the middle school. They will have handicaps.

I really hope I lose. And I hope I lose even if I try a little bit (I have the whole month of march to just chillax and not race but only a bit). That'll show our MSers are coming up strong.

didn't you guys have a hella tight girls 4x8 last year. maybe i'm dreaming, but i swear i thought you did. and by the way, duble could probably run all four legs and go to state.

  22. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 6 2007 - 07:08 PM) 826402632Well since I'm not running anything hard all of March except maybe only 1 event I'll have lots of time for speed work.

Fingerle doesn't handle distance in the spring. That belongs to the dad of former CCS runner Patrick Hall.

Two great workouts the past two days. It seems I have more speed then I ever thought I could have.

That's great. We haven't gotten much speedwork done this week. We have two meets next week. Monday will be tough. Gibbs, CAK, Lenoir City, Carter, Karns, and Pigeon Forge. It will definitely be the ultimate test of what we are starting with. Thursday should be a cake walk with Pigeon Forge and Cocke Co. I'd say everyone will be doing just two events on that one. Good luck.

How's your girls 4x800 team looking?
