1. QUOTE(Jim Harrick @ Mar 3 2007 - 12:57 PM) 826398250Well, your theory has holes. Clarksville had every starter back, so they didn't need to "find themselves".

While that statement is true to some degree, its still very inaccurate as people dont realize Clarksville lost thier starting PG. This is Caldwells first year as a full time PG. Greg Bronson was the starter and Caldwell played wing. So you are very wrong when you say they brought back every starter. They also didnt have Shawn Dowlen who was thier starting post player the first time they played Franklin because Clarksville was making a deep run in the state football playoffs. Dowlen missed the first 5-7 games including scrimmages. Now that Dowlen is back he is the teams sixth man and not the same player he was a year ago.

Also anyone that knows about basketball can tell you that especially in high school, you still have to gell at the right time. Look at Florida who brought back everybody from a National Championship team. They still havent quite figured it out yet but with a new season arriving they will most likely get it together. So lets not say that Clarksville is a given to win this game especially playing a very solid Franklin team with mostly seniors. They're obvious favorites because of playing at home and them being ranked one of the top teams in the state. But people that have watched basketball will tell you that Franklins good enough to beat this team.

  2. QUOTE(Bates Water Gardens @ Mar 2 2007 - 02:00 PM) 826397028Is Whites Creek as good as Clarksville? How will MJ match up with them?

I think its 50-50 with Whites Creek/Clarksville. Both have excellent guard play. Clarksville relies on the inside game more than Creek. Creek shoots the three in transition better than anyone in the midstate from my understanding. At Whites Creek, that will be a tough game.

  3. QUOTE(timhaus @ Mar 2 2007 - 08:34 AM) 826396599I saw a lot of poor class with Clarksville fans last night.

Their just kids having fun with no harm intended...They clapped and cheered when Mt.Juliet's players were announced during awards at the end of game especially when Dixon and Craig were called. Those two played thier hearts out.

But overall the fans were just showing their support to the Clarksville Team..I've never heard anyone say the fans in that program.

  4. QUOTE(OaklandGrad @ Mar 1 2007 - 10:46 AM) 826394868Ill take MT. Juliet in the upset, Troy Allen's teams always seem to excel this time of year

This same Clarksville team minus one beat a better MJ team a year ago to eliminate them from the region tournament. MJ had more a veteran team last year with Clarksville playing young kids. I think its a up and down game and both teams excuting.

  5. QUOTE(MJ AND BEYOND @ Mar 1 2007 - 12:41 AM) 826394468I have not seen Clarksville, but I know MJ is a balanced team O and D that is also very atheltic. The Bears are playing the best ball of their season!

    MJ in a close one!

I didnt say MJ wasnt athletic but no one will argue that Clarksville has an overall TEAM athletic team advantage. Not sure if that will translate into a victory but it does make a difference in tournament games because of how physical they can get. Obviously MJ is a very physical team and has been that way since Troy Allen took over. I think thats the stamp that he puts on his teams.

Well Clarksville is winning..Not sure if they're really playing as they were in Jan but at this point in the season you just win and advance. Not sure who I will give the nod to because both teams have solid PGs in Caldwell-Craig. Dixon-Merriweather matchup should be a good one.

  6. QUOTE(RARip @ Feb 28 2007 - 10:47 PM) 826394321fanchs, with an outlook like the one you have, it's no wonder your team never gets past the first game of the regional tournament. Unlike you, good players learn to play with other good players. Although the one you root for, is probably overated anyway.

FANCHS could be talking about the fact that for one, Evans-Bronson playing on the same team would never happen..For two it would just be a bad combination because both players are very offensive minded and probably wouldnt mesh like they should.

I think both players have totally different personalities.

  7. White Station, Bradley Central, and Whites Creek are the only programs year in and year out that anyone can really depend on to make serious runs to the AAA State Tournament. Those three programs always seem to be in the mix..Even their down years always end up good.

This was probably the best post this year..Good information

  8. QUOTE(Bates Water Gardens @ Feb 28 2007 - 10:04 AM) 826393052How do these teams match up?

This was the preseason picks for the region title game with Clarksville probably favored to win. I think MJ has more of a advantage inside with Dixon-Payne combination. But Clarksville's big guys have an obvious overall team athletic advantage..Expecting a good game.

  9. QUOTE(watcher16 @ Feb 25 2007 - 10:22 PM) 826389450clarksville high has a very good chance of going and making a run.. they will walk through the region with no trouble.

Not sure Clarksville will walk through the region..They've obviously had a tough road to the championship. Anytime you can beat a Gallatin, Lavergne, and most likely Mt Juliet to win region then have to turn around and host Whites Creek, Franklin, Antioch, or McGavock thats tough. Then to top that off the winner of the substate game gets a Memphis team first round of state if I'm not mistaken. So Clarksville will have a tough road to travel.

  10. Have not seen Bolivar play this year. I know they have some really good athletes. Seen Harpeth several times and I just think the experience factor will benefit Harpeth..They're playing more SRs and JRs who have big game experience vs Bolivars more Freshman-Sophmore based team. But Bolivars athletic ability and talent could give harpeth big time trouble.

  11. QUOTE(ut18vols @ Feb 22 2007 - 10:30 AM) 826384398Everything is of the past and we, as a district need to focus on winning regions. Good Luck to all and you can find me on the region 5-aaa board

You are so right..Just bringing up the fact that refs make mistakes and for the most part the 10-AAA championship game was called pretty good.

I hope its a 10-AAA sweep, highly unlikely but hopeful. I would like to see another CHS-Springfield championship game in the Region. With both teams going to state.

  12. QUOTE(ut18vols @ Feb 21 2007 - 01:57 PM) 826383048I think the refs made some calls that should of been made and shouldnt of been made. Towards the end Hendricks was running around trying to get open and a CHS guy stopped and gave Hendricks a shoulder out of heck and knock him down, so SF passes it in, CHS gets a turnover on the pass in and Hendricks chases the guy w/ the ball and goes to hit the ball but hit his face. Their should of been a call when Hendricks was hit. Does anybody remember seeing it, I DO!!!

Also, CHS congrats, but forget yall cause its my most hated team. Overall the game was cool, but the refs simply made SOME BAD CALLS....yall can say a person of a loser team blames the refs but its was true.

Dont forget in the first half Corey Stanton steps on Clarksvilles #30's head. This was suppose to be "unintentional" as well but do we really know? It could have been called because the play was dead for a while. I dont know the kid personally and dont think he would do anything like that because I know Darden, his coaching staff, and the program are high character people but in the heat of the moment people will do what they have to do to get an edge. Thats just life, so you cant really say anything about a shove that was made.

  13. QUOTE(Lambchops @ Feb 21 2007 - 12:02 PM) 826382841Since you asked it was not pretty again. I am not blaming this one all on the refs though. Springfield had their chances and should have put this one away despite the refs. They missed keys free throws and had two horrible possessions that lead to critical turnovers. On that "intentional foul" though, John Mark got fouled first and then he ran the floor and did get ball when he went up. All in all it was another game in Clarksville for the Yellow Jackets.

I thought for a championship game it was called well. I mean there are always gonna be points in the game when calls could be made but I dont think either coach could complain about the officiating. The "Intentional Foul" was the right call and Darden would agree. I think thats why he never made any ruckus when they called it but Hendricks completely wrapped his whole arms around the kid from Clarksville enroute to trying to get ball. I dont think he was trying to hurt him intentionally but in the rules of NFHS, that was the correct call. I think you have to give Clarksville alot of credit because they werent anywhere close to being at thier best. Monday night vs Northeast seem to have taken alot out of them and to play another physically athletic team back to back was tough. The championship game was what you could expect, hard nosed to the very end.

  14. QUOTE(bellgo @ Feb 21 2007 - 12:03 AM) 826382285OH NO!! Springfield loses a close one and almost pulls the big upset. I saw the box score on The Tennessean website and it sounds like it was a nailbiter. Somebody must have had a good game plan going in. If someone was at the game, I need details to how it all went down.

Clarksville's Tyrone Caldwell had a rough night. Got good looks and was able to get to the rim but just wasnt hitting. Turned the ball over at times. Clarksville was probably tired from playing a very physical game with Northeast. Springfield made enough plays to hang around and eventually take the lead late in the 4th quarter but anyone who saw the game has to credit the kids from Clarksville for making every play needed to be made down the stretch.

Utley was a stud for springfield. Barnes made some key plays for Clarksville. Both teams should be in good shape for first round region games. Clarksville split with Gallatin so this should be a good game. I look for Caldwell to bounce back and play like his usual self. Played his butt off on Monday night vs Northeast, maybe he was tired.

  15. QUOTE(Midstate @ Feb 16 2007 - 08:31 PM) 826375171

    Friday, February 16th - 7:00 pm

    #8 Kenwood 54 @ #1 Clarksville 84

    #7 Dickson County 39 @ #2 Springfield 48

    #6 Rossview 58 @ #3 Henry County 55

    #5 Northwest 46 @ #4 Northeast 65

    Saturday, February 17th @ Kenwood

    #4 Northeast winner vs. #1 Clarksville - 5:30 pm

    #6 Rossview vs. #2 Springfield - 8:30 pm

    Tuesday, February 20th @ Kenwood

    Consolation - 6:00 pm

    Championship - 7:30 pm

I called the RV-HC upset. I figured Rossview's inside game and defense would prevail over the Patriots. Rossview always plays HC tough on the road.

  16. Traditionally Henry Co has always been a very tough place to play. The home crowd mixed in with the pep band right by the visitors bench is tough. HC has alot of tradition and usually have solid teams. I cant remember a time when HC hasnt been top 4 at home. Rossview probably has a better win percentage since they've been open than any of the other teams in the district playing at HC.

Like I've said in other post, this game seems like a 4 vs 5 because of the matchups. Both teams matchup well so I think it will go down to the wire. After seeing Rossview play them tuesday night I think they win this game by 2. Inside game should win this game and if they hit thier free throws they'll be in good shape with that being said HC wins the guard matchup. Their guards are better than Rossviews, but the little guard for RV was solid last game.

  17. QUOTE(Jimmy-just-doesn't-miss @ Feb 14 2007 - 12:03 PM) 826371585

No, no dampening here. Just giving details to the guy who started this topic and asked for them. Rossview played a good ball game, not to take anything away from them at all. Just mentioning that kid because he did have 20 against Rossview the first time they played, but it may not have made any difference...Not trying to take anything away from the Hawks.

Yea, as it stands right now..This is probably one of the most balanced matchups in the first round. To me this game seems more like a 4 vs 5 matchup just from the standpoint of what they did in the regular season. Both teams won by 3 at home.

  18. Well its not like HC blew out Rossview the first time..They only beat RV 3 at home so to me it seems like both are about the same based on matchups. Rossview hasnt been consistent this year, but they're not a bad team.

  19. QUOTE(Harlow @ Feb 13 2007 - 09:06 PM) 826370803

Is this correct and does anyone have details

YEP, RV wins at home by 3. HC was up by as much as 10 from what I could remember before rossview stormed back. HC couldnt stop the inside play of Rossview as well as the little guard.

  20. QUOTE(butter-bean @ Feb 12 2007 - 03:57 PM) 826369013

surely there will be an upset somewhere, just not sure where.

after the first round games are played at the home site of the higher seed, where are the rest played?

Kenwood HS will host the rest of the district tournament with Beech HS hosting Region 5-AAA.

Like I've said I'm biased with Clarksville HS but I think people will see a CHS-Springfield Championship. But that 4-5 vs #1 will be tough. We'll just see what happens.

  21. QUOTE(PatFan20 @ Feb 12 2007 - 02:17 PM) 826368866

If my post seemed like I was attacking you that was not my intent. You were just stating the facts, but most people are crowning Clarksville. My beaned friend you state good things and I have no problem what so ever with what your comments and again if you feel attacked please accept my apologies. I do agree with Red Dawn that Dickson is a scarier team than Rossview althought I think the she/he is implying the HC lose to get the other. By the way Red Dawn are you a boy or a girl?? No disrespect but either your a girl or a bad 80's movie?!!? lol Well gotta run big ups to my boys Triple and Jimmy too bad neither of you can shoot the three like me Also I'm a stone cold killa in HALO lol

I dont think anyone is crowning Clarksville. But when you're top 3 in the state and have two kids that are legitamate D1 prospects as well as a underfeated district record and averaged margin of victory was 18-20 in conference play then that says alot. Last years team is completely different than this years. Not to say they wont or couldnt get upset this year they're a year better. Keep in mind they were just sophmore and Jrs last year meaning they were that much more experienced than everyone else. DC, NE, and Springfield were all picked over CHS.

    I think its pretty simple:

CHS is the favored coming in with Springfield 2nd.

NE is a team that is probably alot better than their record and should win the 4th-5th place game to possibly play CHS in semi-finals. Everyone has pointed out how well they've played them thus far this year so on a neutral court it seems like NE will have a chance. But I think HC will obviously bounce back to make a region apperance. DC is a scary team but I dont think they have the firepower on offense to make a run.

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding this but Rossview will be a 7 seed if they lose but can move up to #6 if they win? I was thinking that even if Rossview and Kenwood both finish with 3-11 district records that Rossview wins the tie breaker because they swept them in head to head..Let me know if I'm wrong.

  23. QUOTE(Ticket @ Feb 9 2007 - 12:31 PM) 826365100

springfield and the other teams in the district don't have a chance against henry - i heard hc players told clarksville in their last game that, "they would see them again in the district championship game / so i guess they think they are going to beat everyone else???

the patriots are going to win it all!

Yea, the kid who said it was the coaches son(#11)..Very classless and something I dont think you can expect from the HC program. I have alot of respect for that program, lot of tradition running around. But I guess when you're the new kid on the block and you play for your daddy he feels he can do what he wants.

By the way, this is the same kid who stepped on #10 for Clarksville when they played at CHS and then intentionally fouled #34 while going up for a layup at Henry Co. He did this while he was in mid air, it just so happens #34 weighs about 200 pounds so it didnt faze him at all. Then to top it off he walks by the bench and tells Ted Young "We'll see you in the tournament"...WOW!!!

  24. QUOTE(ScoutOne4U @ Feb 8 2007 - 11:34 AM) 826363482

Any still available? Where will they all go of the prospects? Did Wiggins sign anywhere?

No one in Basketball signed because this signing period was for fall sports only...Basketball spring signing period will be in March or April if I'm not mistaken.
