  1. Oh my goodness...are you kidding me? What he's saying has nothing to do with players...he is merely saying that Halls never gets respect. It is a comparison. I'm from Union County and I understand this. Don't they teach you all reading comprehension in Powell? He is simply saying When Tudor was at Powell there was suppose to be no way in the world for Halls to win...and Halls did. Now he is saying that all the hype is that Cody Watts and Lee Smith and others will go to Halls and win. Well, BigCjones or whatever his name is says that Halls will repeat that HISTORY and win this game, surprising everyone I guess. How hard is it for you to understand? It's pretty plane and clear here what he's saying. And if you still don't get it...he's saying Halls will win.
  2. Alright, it's finally here. This should be a dandy. Watts and company will bring their A game to Halls in my opinion. But I think Halls will be prepared with theirs as well. I think this game will boil down to Halls O'line against Powell's big guys on the D-line. I don't think Halls has faced a quarterback as mobile as Watts..it'll be interesting to see how they play it Friday. Halls is dominating the 3rd quarter so far this season...outscoring opponents 45-7 according to knoxpreps.com (only 7 was to Central I believe) and those 4th quarter points have been against the 2s. Halls is also putting up the points in the second, scoring 63 - 29. That's some fairly noticeable domination of the most important quarters as far as the big MO is concerned. Halls is all about trying to wear a defense down. They've seemed to throw it in timely situations and use that play-action well. I believe I've heard that it's suppose to rain sometime midweek or later and with that factor the game would be in favor of Halls I think. Any angle you look at it, it should be a great game. I believe Halls manages somehow to win this one in a squeaker.
  3. It's unlucky for SD to catch Central after the Maryville game...this could get ugly quick.
  4. Carter is more expected out of that group...they were fairly good in the toughest region in the state in 3-4a...moved to something 3a and having success with the Gibbs', Union County's, Pigeon Forges, Seymours, etc. etc. I'd say Maryville, Halls, and Catholic Maryville- in the aspect that they had to replace practically their entire offense and did so extremely successfully...hats off to them. Halls- noone really gave them a chance to be a playoff team and they're sitting at 5-1 (2-1) right now and looking pretty doggon good. Catholic- Well, with the tallent they lost and the move into a tough 3a region, noone expected them to really have that much success either...and they're sitting at 6-0 going into their huge rivalry with Webb.
  5. I'll go ahead and give a prediction...SC wins this one.
  6. Yeah, they can get recognition from the state, but not from the city newspaper. Knoxville News Sentinnel and WBIR, what a joke. They shouldn't even do a poll. Keep it up Devils...maybe if you can win big enough this week it will open some eyes...but I'd say you'll have to take down the media's favorite team in order to have a passing thought of being good to those guys.
  7. This one won't even be close. Halls will have those 2s and 3s in early in the game again. The only reason Halls won't put up a huge number of points is because it is primarily a running team and Julian won't run up the score. Halls 35 Clinton 7
  8. Great V for the Red. Looked like it was going to be a shootout at the beginning with the Red and Beavers trading scores. Halls D stood tall in late second quarter and Halls was up at half 35-14. Halls O was unstoppable in the first half, scoring on all 5 possessions I think. I know the Red didn't punt until late second half. Halls scored in the 3rd on a Logan O'connor field goal and a Justin Cox fumble return for the TD and then put in the second and third teamer's midway through the 3rd. Karns scored 13 in the fourth I believe. One on O and the other on D as Halls fumbled in the Endzone. Overall Halls looked really sharp on offense in the first half..looked as if they may have relaxed over halftime and came out flat or something. Props to the D adjusting after the first two Karns scores. Next up, Clinton. Let's just hope Halls isn't thinking about that October 7th game with Powell. Take it to Clinton like you should boys and then get after them Panthers.
  9. I believe you went with the '04 simulation...take a peak at that '05 simulation and you'll see they have a murville sweep.
  10. This is how I feel about the news sentinel...Halls beat Seveir County and SC is ranked ahead of them...still don't see the logic in that. Looks like a joke to me
  11. I don't really get what you are saying about playing from behind because in the first half the game was tight. In the second half, the game was "relatively" tight. Halls had TWO TD passes in the first half against Central and opened it up early because it was there. If you can run the ball and it's working, why change? If you can throw it and it's working that's fine, but if you can't throw it as good as you can run it, then running it a majority of the time is essential. Halls is 3-1 and whatever system they're using playcall wise is obviously working. I think most people thought this would be a down year for the red and at this point in the season that they'd be 1-3 instead of 3-1.
  12. 1. Maryville 2. Oak Ridge 3. Alcoa 4. Knox Central 5. Webb 6. Catholic 7. Mo West 8. Halls 9. Carter 10. Farragut The call on the TD at Central was bogus. I've seen the replay time and time again. If they called holding on #42 like they said he did then they don't need to be reffing games. If they're calling it as a block in the back on #78 then they need to learn that the offensive lineman was in his rights to hit him in the back because he was on the line of scrimmage..made contact with and then turned his back to run. The two never were more than a yard apart. Replay showed the call was wrong either way. Any way you look at it, the game was closer than the score.
  13. Logan O'connor from Knox Halls looked pretty good Friday night. Great poise while he was being rushed and punting out of the endzone was huge. Ball on the 4 and he boomed it to the 50 or so and they had a block in the back penalty which pushed West back. He also nearly dropped one inside the 5...just a couple yards in the endzone and it kicked back like it was suppose to, but the wind carried it in. He looked as if he was kicking it 45-50 yards each time from the line of scrimmage...not where he kicked it...so I guess 55-65 yards total through the air.
  14. This is definitely going to be a quick game. Both teams are running it 30,40,50 times a game and doing it successfully. The question to me is, which coaching staff adjusts correctly at halftime. I'm sure both teams will come out next friday with something up their sleeve, but who adjusts at the half. Halls is outscoring their opponents 45-20 in the second half...just wearing them down. Opponents appear to be jumping on Karns in the first and third quarters where the Beavers are being outscored 42-21. Look for Halls to move the ball up front and stay in between the tackles and Karns to run the option and try to get outside more. The edge goes to Halls up front on the defensive side of the ball as they are just big and definitely to Halls in the passing game. Any way you look at it...it's definitely going to be a great game. The question is...Is Halls big headed and Karns hungry after their loss or is Halls riding high and carrying the momentum while the Beavers are thinking about last week? I think Halls schemes it well and wins this one 17-14.
  15. No no..do I play the one that the team respects and rallies around or do I play the less than 50% pass completion superstar?...hmm...tough decision.
  16. I'm not saying they should replace Central...just to be sure everyone read's that part... Halls played Central to a closer game than the score indicated. 2 plays go Halls' way and Halls wins. Halls beat the unbeatable Catholic in preseason scrimmages and I'm not counting the 2nd teams. Halls was physically better than Catholic and mechanically. They beat Sevier County who beat William Blount who is ranked ahead of Halls in your pole. They beat a scrappy and talented West team(who has SPEED). And Halls beat Gibbs like they should have. I'd say they deserve a little bit more respect, but who am I?
  17. It's hard to believe that it's week 4 and we're already talking about games having playoff implications, but you better believe it. West is a team that doesn't throw it much, looking to run it right at you. They have some real good running backs and a quarterback that can drop back and throw it fairly accurately. Halls is the same way, but has opened up the passing game the past two weeks which in turn has opened up their rushing attack. Lucas, Boruff, Dayton, Ferguson and Reese have all looked good for Halls on the offensive side of the ball. Halls' O-line is much improved compared to previous years and those holes are really nice for the running backs. Look for Halls to put the ball in the endzone 3, 4, maybe even 5 times this week, but in order to do that, they better not have those costly penalties on long plays or turnovers in key situations. I think the Halls D will be able to hold West enough to ensure the victory. I'm going to go with Halls 31 West 21
  18. I think it's knoxville and surrounding counties
  19. maryville's running game is too good...their coaches too.
  20. I believe Halls had over 150 yards passing and over 200 yards rushing against Central if my estimates from watching it on tv are correct. They had 247 total yards in the first half against the Bobcats and that I know for sure. It was a very evenly played game, the only difference was basically the scoreboard. Although Central's got the speed, Halls' size and efficiency of running their plays looked fairly crisp, thus I can see where BBS had the idea Halls could win and perhaps should have.
  21. If Gibbs scores 13 on Halls I'd be amazed. Gibbs merely scored 16 against Union County, which I would have to say is no where near Halls' tallent level. Halls did give up 26 to Central, but Gibbs is nowhere even remotely close to Central's tallent level. If Halls can throw for 2 TDs against Central, I'd love to see what they can do against Gibbs. Halls by at least 3 TDs
  22. I wouldn't say they're in the toughest region in the state. 3-4a is definitely tougher with Maryville and Central at the top...also, in case you hadn't noticed Halls came out and had the opportunity to beat Central Friday night, the game just didn't turn out for them. Powell is pretty doggon good too, I just think the Panthers need to lay off the mouth. West appears to be decent along with lenoir city..although Powell ripped right through them. South Doyle and Clinton are Ws on just about everyone's schedule...sorry, but it's true. Catholic is a very good team and I wouldn't be surprised if they win the region this year. Fulton better watch out for Alcoa or they'll be 0-3 easily. And we know what Maryville did to Alcoa. So, let's just wait for Friday night and see how Fulton compares and you'll have part of your answer I'm sure.
  23. One suggestion I might say is to not rank teams based on years past. You got to look at this year, not last year. Also, don't let the influence of the media effect you because we all know that the media loves Powell and look at what that has done...put the media to shame, yet, the media still sticks with the Panthers on Friday night. What was it like in those highlights? I'll tell you how it sounded last Friday night. Cody Watts on the run. Again, Cody Watts on the run. Cody Watts to Lee Smith. Oh, by the way, Webb beats Powell 13-12 or whatever the score was. My statement is...you can't rank Powell in the top ten after a loss in the opening week. To quote BBS..."'Nuff Said"
