Maryville was that much better than them on that night and I guess that is all that matters. And maybe you should do some analysis of your own. To most FLUKE means luck, or a one in a million long shot. Since we have spanked you five straight years that description hardly fits. And after all the talk and hype they were not ready to play? That indicates they have problems somewhere.
Here it is two weeks after the fact and you are still talking Maryville. You have the same problem your over hyped team does. MARYVILLE IS IN YOUR HEAD!

If Cobb is really good why does Fieglar start over him? For a "D1 Prospect" Fieglar looked clueless. I mean his passes were off all night, I expected better throws. On three occassions as I remember it, the Reciver had to wait or come back to the ball. Or was he just having an off game IYO?
Cobb is an excellent quarterback. Fieglar is a joke. He is no D1 prospect. why does he start over Cobb? Feiglars dad is the biggest brownnoser in county and has made sure Joei is one of Reids' golden boys. Have you ever wondered why Fieglar has to go to the sideline to get a play. Its because he isn't capable of taking signals from sidelines. From what I here, he sometimes forgets the play they tell him. He cant look to his 2nd or 3rd read. He knows who he is going to throw it to before the play starts. Example:vs Maryville he threw a pass to Sommers who had at least 3, maybe more defenders around him. Lankster was 20 yds downfield with no one even close to him and fieglar didn't even see him..to play D1 at QB you have to be able to look off first read and look for 2nd or 3rd. Wish they would start Cobb and give him a chance to show his stuff. Sorry you won't see this, God forbid Reid takes out one of his D! prospects . Thought Feiglar was going to commit before season!!! The way he's playing he should wish that he could put it in ink before some schools loose interest because of his play..

see, here we go again. alcoa this alcoa that. alcoa plays like they played against maryville, they could loose 3 or 4 games. CAK has good quarterback and recievers. threw 75% of time against union county. if they see maryville tape, they could throw all over alcoa. all i heard before game against maryville was how maryville would have to run to win, excuse me but hunt kid for maryville threw the ball when he wanted and quite well i think, didn't get sacked i don't think. aloa people get on here and start same thing. alcoa shows up and wins. that is what will cost them state. no one is thinking about fulton.... better think about them.

in my thread before maryville game i said that alcoa would loose because they can not play as a team and reid has no control. i am here to humbley eat crow because later i changed my opinion on who would win. let me say that maryville beat us fair and square. maryville won offense, defence, special teams, and especially coaching. alcoas coaching staff is worried about mickey mouse stuff (bonfire thursday-how much did reids little puppet "coach conners" respect did he loose from players-alot i here) .alcoa has what they say is d1 prospects. prospects being key word. havent seen ink on any player. reid seems to put all emphasis on his d1 prospects and they play I ball not team ball. from where i set, brandon warren would not have won the game for us. we still get beat. the only excuse is coaching. alcoa didn't even know how to line up. they were pathetic. play calling was horendous. i heard two people in front of me say where maryville would go on just about every play, they called game better than alcoa coaches. if joei figlar is d1 prospect then i should be quarterback for new england patriots. he is past pathetic. he also has his nose so far up in the air that he can not even talk to those who support him. he is a joke. duck got most of his yards on 2nd team. not very impressive. alcoa will not win a state title this year. last years team was hungry, this team just thinks that all they do is show up. butt spankins to come on in season!!!!!!!

From what I have been told, only Valentine will not be able to play due to an injury that may sideline the senior MLB for a few more games. All of the named players are near 100% and will play. Maryville is ready I am told by a Defensive starters, they are not thinking they are underdogs and are not overwhelmed by this media hype, because that is all that it is.
No question Alcoa has some fine players in many respects, but If Maryville plays like a team and gets a turnover or two without turning the ball over themselves who knows? Alcoa won last week right? Then why all the crying over the ref's?
HopTown may have not been that good but they still managed to get 6 points and 200 yards of offence on that D1 D. Maryville is no HopTown, they'll get some yards and it will be more than 200 you can count on that. Maryville's backfield is just as talented and capable as Alcoa's is IMO. Alcoa should have an advantage in the passing game, but without BW there is one less threat to worry about. Alcoa did show balance vs. Hop Town last week a plus, note the Scoring Summary from last weeks game:

Note BW was a big part of the game.
I think Field position, turnovers, coaching adjustments and conditioning are the keys in this game. Blaming the ref's before kick off is immature and stupid. Refs do make some mistakes, but mostly they want to get it right.
hoptown scored on 2nd team defense and probably a majority of yards.shiverdecker had 3 td's called back because of penalties. all runs of at least 50 yards

You know I continue to be amazed by the fact that Alcoa is coming off a big win and is getting ready to play their biggest rival and the main topic of conversation for many remains REFEREES. And now you are going to avoid the Christmas rush and start whinning about tonight's before the game even starts? Labeling someone as crooked in their profession because of where they are from is no better than doing it based on race, religion or any other reason. Like I said earlier God forbid if you guys do up and lose a game this year. I guess a lawsuit will be filed because everyone from your coach on down has come totally unglued over the refs last week.

As a Maryville fan , i just want to give thanks that we have GEORGE QUARLES as our coach .

You keep talking about these "wrinkles" and "adjustments". If Alcoa is that loaded why do they have to revamp everything because they lost one player? What about this ungodly depth we have been hearing about? I hope they do make changes because at times Reid tends to "over coach" IMO. I left the championship game last year almost feeling like they won despite the coaching they had that game. I can assure you the Maryville staff has anticipated everything under the sun. Remember we were preparing for Alcoa last week while you guys were in KY crying about the referees.
mhs - the way alcoa is treated we will be the ones getting bad calls at home..just look at the referees tonight and recognize who they are and which city their affiliated with. anyway we beat hoptown and their five refs, we will beat maryville and their five refs

the saddest thing about this situation is that alcoa doesn't even care that the player from hopkinsville who got ejected gets to play this week. your so called fair official, in his judgement (what a joke) was under no obligation to report this to tssaa. the way we here it is that he could not wait to report this. we will see you again next year...bring on the refs...leave the team at home..even with their yellow flags, i think we can take them

so friday,aug 26th, alcoa vs. maryville.no brandon warren. shame tssaa would take judgement call from kentucky ref if he saw whole game. shame on tssaa. anyway we play without brandon and still win. with the abscence of bw i have seen this team pick up intensity in practices this week. alcoa will be ready for the test. remember, bw is just 1 player off of a fine TEAM. would have been nice to have bw. we will come out and executeas if bw were not a part of this team. look for people playing in unusual places this game..really looks better than with bw on defense. alcoa wins 28 - 7

to end this post...hoptown ain't nothing...scrub team...if not for inbred refs score would have been 58-0. they know tn football now..they know we can beat their 11 plus five refs...hoptown is trash...their coaches are wimps..crybabies...so we play without bw..so what..he didn't play that much at maryville last year..watch out for 88...not a bad player and he will have 10 to get his back..hoptown i spit on your town, football team, coaches, and especially your refs....i think we get to come up there again next year to spank that butt...bring 10 refs instead of five...you still LOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for GQ and staff It wouldn't matter if he was the best player in the world, his butt would be sitting, no appeals and no reconsideration. GQ has proved time and time again that his kids are and will be disciplined.
Remember GQ kicking potentially his best player off the team a few years back prior to the start of the season? An let me assure you that all that kid did was break team rules twice. He didn't violently slug an opposing player.
Remember the three our four staters, and one was the QB, that GQ suspended the first game against Alcoa a few years ago? Nawwww...I'm sure you don't.
Bringing GQ into this discussion is a huge miscalculation on your part.

were you there..did you see Brandon VILONTLY SLUG someone. and the players that were suspended in 2000 - wasn't that for making counterfiet money!!!! players on any other team in blount county would have went to jail..if i am not mistaken counterfieting is a federal felony offence..look at the last name of these players and you will know why their were no criminal charges. no i don't owe you an apology. but i will give you one if you come to me at the game. i will be on the fifty about 4 rolls up.. come get your apology

everyone says we were playing under TSSAA rules. wrong. in rule book pg2 of 4, rule n. If tennessee team plays in another state they will play under that states sanction. if that the case tssaa should have nothing to say in this mess. bw could not play next game played in kentucky.

if you rebel posters that say brandon should sit out game and that we were all whining about officiating..let me tell you this..if maryville had played that game in ky..and saw what happened...george quarles and your athletic director would have left sunday night so the could be at the tssaa office when it opened..you know they would fight for their player...especially if he was #1 player in state..say different...you are a liar

I just took a nationwide poll and it's offical. The WHOLE WORLD knows Shiverdecker would have had 200 yards and a handful of touchdowns if not for those mean old referees!

Just some random thoughts addressing some previous posts.
Does Alcoa have more talent or at least athleticism than Maryville this year. Yep
Did they last year? More than likely and anyone who was there knows it was not near as close as the score indicated.
However
This could be Alcoa's year. They do have a great team, which should be the case when you have the senior class they have and they have started for four years. Couple this with the fact that Mayrivlle is thinner than they have been in at least five or six years and it becomes quite possible. I think if BW does not play it hurts on both sides but possibly more on defense because Sykes becomes less effective if they can run away from him. And that is taking nothing away from Warren's replacement, but I am sure he is no Warren. Brandon is NOT an idiot. He is human like all of us, and the reaction he had under the circumstances is quite understandable.
Let's just have this week be an exciting one for the kids and hope they all stay out of trouble so they can go to the game. And lets remember we are all one big community and work and worship together and see each other almost daily. Regardless of how many times certain people want to toss the word HATE around lets all try to keep our perspective so that these two great schools and teams can get the recognition they deserve.
shiverdecker di have over 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns called back. you will see friday night. any long run and flags flew in ky. they even called a clip on our defense. maryville would be saying the same thing if it were them in ky. we come away with win but officiating was horribley one sided

All I hear on here is Alcoa's D1 prospects. Well that's all they are. I've not seen any ink on paper. Lindsey is to dumb to play D1 football. That is why he moved in with coach Reid. What a joke. Feigler makes so many "F's" I don't see how they even let him dress out for games. Feigler has done nothing this year. Someone told me that he was holding his breath for an offer to sign. The way he is playing, don't see him playing D1 except as a punter. OTHER D1 prospects have the grades, but this team is not playing like last years team. Until it is put in ink, all you are is a prospect. Every team could have D1 prospects. This D1 prospect thing is what got Alcoa's butt spanked by Maryville. And yes i think Jon Reid is a joke and should have someone else calling offensive plays. Butt whippings are coming.
