I picked Grace to win it all preseason. However, TC has tradition on their side & they know from a coaching standpoint how to win it. Grace's athletes and depth are better than TC but they ALWAYS seem to choke when the chance to break through for gold has presented itself.
Grace's school motto could be "we coulda, shoulda, woulda"!
So far they haven't! TC has- many many times.

Great game and definite playoff atmosphere in possumtown. Dca fell behind 21-6 with 9:30 in 2ndqrtr before out scoring FC 35-10 the next 2 qrtrs to lead 41-31 in 3rd. FC scored with 2 secs from 10 yds out on a great catch for the final 52-49 margin.
Both team's kids played hard but both really showed glaring weaknesses defensively. IMO neither can make it past semi's this yr.

couldn't agree more: "program does not reflect one single yr". This wasn't a thread started by an FC fan rather one from MJ. Besides looking at records from one yr see the facts below.Title says best program in Wilson county. A program does not reflect one single year. Mt Juliet and Lebanon have new head coaches. I think mjca does as well. Wilson central has had a lot of injuries. Fc should know about how that goes. As you said without long FC hasn't won a game. No dog in this fight other than living in Wilson county.
MJCA = never won a playoff gm
Watertown= hasn't won a playoff gm since 1985
WC= 1 quarterfinal appearance ever.
Lebanon= 1 quarterfinal appearance ever
Mt Juliet= 2 consecutive semi final losses
FC= 2 STATE CHMPS in a row & 3 finals since 2007.
Also to set the record straight FC has won without long at qb this yr vs KA.
-
bump???
FC 4-2 with both losses coming without Long.
MJ sub .500
Central sub .500
LHS 1 win
Watertown 1 win
MJCA 1 win

I'm gonna buy you a hotdog and coke at the game this year...you can return the favor in Gtown next.

well said. Good programs rebuild but great programs reload. MJ is rebuilding this yr & next. Blackman dominates da bears in this one.BK is a good person and loyal which is great / thing is after 2 great years they have become spoiled / tend to think the caliber of players remain the same /
MJ lost alot of players and add in a coach that is following his daddy footsteps = disaster
Blackman big is this one

.....trust me u dont want start counting trophys at all . and that a fact-jack!!!!!

. I've forgot more Redneck than you'll ever know. If ya don't believe me, ask Snoballs buddy from hartsville Carlson Reece or his brother Brian. Either can confirm.Isn't the Duck Dynasty too "Redneck" and "Improper" for FC folks? Double standard? ha

if things go as usual you'll probably go 0-2 then!!Great post! Creasy has won with the kids he was given per his county school system. Mcneal went out and openly recruited kids from all over which is one of the big reasons why FC had to go Div II. Should be a good game on the creek bank, I will be rooting for my two favorite teams... Jackson County and whoever is playing FCS
-
I'd say neither fan base would trade their coach for the other schools.
Creasy walked into back-to-back titles with players Clint(as bad as I hate to say it) Satterfield had prepared for him by playing them as Fr & Soph's and taking the losses that so often go with it. This class of Jrs and Srs are Creasy's kids from start to finish. Their legacy & those that follow after them should be stamped as Creasy's. I will add for what it's worth that TC doesn't seem to have the discipline (on or off the field) that you saw from Clint's teams. In regard to 11-11-11, TC WAS a huge favorite to win not only vs FC but the whole thing. To get beat with a team of 14+ Srs on your home field to a #5 seed FC should've been embarrassing. Especially after your coach proclaiming on the radio a year prior (after losing to SM) that TC would win it all in 2011.
The last 2 titles reside in POSSUMTOWN- Reaction can cry all he wants but that's the facts-Jack!

Commanderman, please don't mention a TC fan being "high". You might bring the famed TOOF FAIRY out of hiding!
You know once he's outta bottle you can't put him back. It's akin to releasing the CRACKEN!!
-
really, 3 backs as good as ours? Other than Harper, who are they? Did they play vs sycamore? Did they play vs FC last yr? No matter. This game will henge on the line just like most previous yrs in this rivalry. We start 0 Srs in the line and we're tiny & non-aggressive just like last yr. y'all haven't scored 30+ vs Macon or sycamore. Not sure how you think coach lowes defense is gonna yield 35 to the jackets. Total the last 3 meetings of fc vs tc and the jackets still don't score 35!!We are well aware of your backs! Our defense has been getting in good practice this week considering we got 3 backs just as good or better than your backs! But you can't fool us, your team goes thru A.J.!

wow, a Signal Mtn fan who quotes the TSSAA rule book. Where were you in 2010 & 2011 when they were playing illegal players? If it hadn't been for SM in 2010 either TC or FC woulda had another 2A gold ball that season making it 5 yrs in a row for the former Region 4.too observations
1. @snoball5278 and @Volzchamps need to get a room
2. If he did have a concussion, his eligibility/availability ain't up to him. It's up to the M.D., who has to sign the medical release clearing him to return to play. http://www.tssaa.org/concussion.pdf
-
touche' Snoball, good to see your perspective as I always respect your opinion on all things TC. This game is very evenly matched. I traveled to sycamore to watch and compare TC to FC this yr. this game stands to be a good one in this rivalry.great thread, not a lot of quanity, but outstanding quality.
high points include;
-doyle and slim should just get a room.
-as usual oldpirate has said nothing and used several hundred words to do so.
-kingofcool has summarised the recent state of sp's program bluntly, but soundly. (and has done so with less words than oldpirate probably uses for his password)
-volzchamp remains the only fcs supporter that i pay any real attention too. (until isaac yankum d.d.s., shows up.)
-georgebailey continues to amaze me with his ability to type and post while being nailed to a cross.
as for my contributions... i have heard 2 things regarding fcs's qb,
a: he has had a concussion and that his eligibilty/availabilty is up to him.
b: he is approaching this season with a tempered enthusiasm due to his impending collegiate career.
i know neither to be true or false, but both were told to me by people that have been known to know commonly unknown things.
what i do know, with certainty, is that fcs is now recruiting (ferociously, i might add) in the area and i am less than surprised to see that it didn't take them long (no pun intended, ok maybe a little.) to learn the ropes. now, i am not saying that they shouldn't be, by way of their over-night more than zealous switch to dII, they have every right in the world. i'm just saying that i'm more than impressed at how fast they were able to hit the ground running, especially at the earlier stages of jr. high. and even moreso with a coach that doesn't seem to have an exorbitant amount of spare time to learn the rules/techniques/strategy/protocols/do's-don'ts of the recruiting game, not to mention the scouting of
prospectsrecruitsfuture student athletes, all while coaching multiple sports.tifwiw
regarding the game; if qb1 doesn't play, i believe it tips the scales to tc's advantage. mcneal will still have a more abundance of athletes, but tc has athletes too. this game should come down to coaching. creasy is a better coach than mcneal, that isn't a slight to mcneal it's just the way it is. jackets find a way to win.
As I've stated many times before TC is one of the main reasons for FC's recently found football success. When you can play & compete with the best you learn how to become the best!
My son, who plays for FC, first words Monday morning were " TC WEEK & I'm already anxious for Friday night!" This will be his last trip to the creekbank as a player. we all know there are certain games in every players career you never forget. I've heard numerous FC players say that the 11-11-11 win was their fondest football memory. Even more than the title games. What more can be said about the significance of this game to "TRUE" FC & TC fans, coaches, & players. Kudos to Creasy for keeping FC on the schedule when so many other rivals from region 4 ran & hid. He's a winner but not this Friday!!
-
HE says hello!! Wanted to ask what happened last yr? No excuses?Tell Touchdown Jesus I said hello.
-
true, but consider the district. How many state champs have come outta that district region in the past 5-10 yrs? Compared to new district 7&8's or the former region 4 & their 5 titles in the past 5 yrs.they also beat st georges and usj i am keeping it in perspective. especially when you realize adamsville hasnt lost a district game in about 4- 5 years.
TCA is good this yr no doubt. The st George's victory is impressive!! I hope TCA can make the title game. Just remember, tca's depth or lack of could become an issue. Not to mention Mitchell's speed & athleticism.
-
i wouldn't base success vs adamsville's defense as a measuring stick. Remember they gave up almost half a hundred in last yrs title game. I know that FC had two sophomore RB's in that game who ran for over 100 yds apiece.TCA will probably come out of the west. the qb is a surgeon and they have very talented skill position players, the big question about tca this year was would they be able to handle a big physical running team with strong defense...i.e....adamsville and they answered the call. i know its still vurrrry early but tca looks like the standard out west to me
Nice road win but keep it in perspective. Good luck TCA, Grace, Boyd, Goodpasture & TC.
-
Easy now George. The reason red rage is perturbed is he knows that was Adamsvilles one & only shot at a title. Now this season has already started for them with another loss to a lil ole private school with 1/5th their enrollment. To add insult to injury it was in Aville.
Truth be told regarding last years state championships: Adamsville wasn't even among the top 5 teams FC faced. Marion Co, Boyd, Cascade, TC, and Gville would have all beaten them. Guess that woulda made them the 4th best public school in TN, huh?
-
My top 6 contenders in 2A would be as follows:
Knox Grace
Mitchell
Marion
TCA
TC
Huntington
Anyone not mentioned in this group is not capable of winning the title. Just an opinion from a 2A fan who has seen the past 5 2A state champs up close & in person.
-
FC quarterback AJ Long didn't play last Friday & isn't likely for the next few wks with an upper-body injury. Sophomore price Cochran will start & played well last Friday.The Jackets will have to put pressure and disrupt FC s QB that guy is a heck of an athelete.I'm pulling for my Jackets in a close one.GO JACKETS!!
-
for what, 3 qrtrs? Those TC stands were emptied half way thru the 4th qrtr. Place looked like a ghost town when the final horn sounded!No need to warch the video silly boy....I was there in the stands watching.
-
me too, remember FC's last trip to the creek bank? Nov 11, 2011. Watch the you tube video & enjoy!TC will definitely have a win.....no doubt about it. I am ready to see next weeks game against those sweatervests.
-
MC is not the best 1A team in TN. Having seen Gville's STATE CHAMP team last season & watching FC vs MC earlier this fall there is NO comparison in those teams level of play.
-
Send him east to FC, those other MJ transfers like their rings. He could even play multiple sports there.I didn't say it was a good decision. If you know him; you know he is all about team. Some times young men face a lot of adversity and when they have worked so very hard and all of a sudden things go the other way; their emotions get the best of them. It is a hard life lesson to learn.
