Coach Nix will take and coach then young 8th graders up and beat AE by fitty! :thumb: Watch and see. B)

Lee's Chicken on that !  It won't be no 50 and it may be even closer than what you think.

  2. It may have something to do with the high school coaching.  I mean, the middle school team is always good so maybe an assistant from the middle school go help the high school or maybe an assistant should get the High School coach position.  In my opinion Coalfield isn't too bad in basketball it could be a hit and miss type of program.  I would love to coach out there.  They could win.

All three gone......Alcoa will never win again.....LOL!

They're already on the recruiting trail.  I've already told you that 8th grade team isn't too good so they will definitely have to do some recruiting.

My guess is something to do with his NC school where he is AD

No, its dealing with Knox County not NC..  Hoping to have everything resolved by this weekend and then have the official announcement at the Alumni Game

Football OR Basketball......Alcoa Got them birds number!!

No sir, they're tied 1-1 for the season.  So I wouldn't necessarily say they have their number now the District and Region tournaments is going to be wild.   GP, AE, and Alcoa are all really good teams but somebody gots to go home and not make the State Tournament

This is a football thread about Austin Roadrunners football Mr. Donatello. I am not talking to every basketball team in the state. I am talking to you about Austin Roadrunner FOOTBALL. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

You have talked about Every and everybody and every team/sport and I APPROVE this message!

If a song with the F word is played at Austin Roadrunners stadium and the band plays that song then that is a bad place. Coach Stevens can make a comeback, but Austin Roadrunners will still not mercy rule many of these other teams. Austin Roadrunners will not come close to Alcoa Tornado. Things have changed in the last 20 years on the East side of Knoxville. I guarantee it. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Well, you better get used to it and make sure you tell every basketball team in the State that plays that song during their warm ups it gives them a bad look.   AE will play Alcoa as close as any team in the state if you don't believe watch me.  Alcoa isn't all that!

Stanton Stevens is trying to come back to Austin Roadrunners. Stanton started out coaching for Bearden Bulldogs. He then went to Austin Roadrunners as the coach in 1999. This was when the Austin Roadrunners actually got good. He left Austin Roadrunners to coach Oak Ridge Wildcats. Then he left Oak Ridge Wildcats to coach Lavergne Wolverines. Austin Roadrunners will not get mercy ruled as much if Stanton gets the job to coach Austin Roadunners again. He left as coach almost 20 years ago. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Let's not change on what you said earlier.  I told you that all it takes a proven Coach but you've been saying for the last month, AE is goign to get mercy ruled by everyone stick to that and don't change up because Coach is making a come back.  Like the song goes, "That Get back a Mofo....."  That's going to be the song AE runs out to this coming year and the band going to play it too.

Austin Roadrunners have many good athletes but they do not like to stay and play for Austin Roadrunners because of the location and the things happening around the school. You can not deny I am right about these things. it makes it hard to get a top notch coach too. I guarantee it. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

For one, if you grew up in East Knoxville and went threw all the schools in East Knoxville then it won't be as hard to play for AE.  Like many say, Its HARD TO BE A ROADRUNNER!! If they want to go somewhere else and play there let them .  These coaches can only coach up what they have there and wants to be there.  Another thing, things happen all over the city not just at AE so make sure you mention that as well.

I hated it when Jeff Phillips moved on. They put some points on the board and the following year they completley tanked. His last 5 years they averaged 475 points a year and the first season after he's gone they scored 42 all year long. What in the ale happened. I watched them twice last year on film and it surprised me they find a better QB in Cherry just before halftime in the Carter game but the damage was done. What am I missing Turtle.

Sounds about right but we’ll be ok .  I think everyone will be pleased with the hire that’s going to be announced next week

The good coaches are getting taken up. Austin Roadrunners will have to resort to an up and coming coach. Austin Roadrunners is a very dangerous part of town. Coaches need to be very careful when they go to interview for Austin Roadrunner job. I guarantee it. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

See that's what AE students face daily, the stereotype about the school and community in general.  Don't knock AE nor its community because there's plenty of folks that's live and love that community. Its just outsiders like yourself that makes AE a bad place not knowing its a special place in many eyes.

Also you seem like a smart guy so I'll give you a pass, but comparing basketball to football is not even close. One player can change a basketball team. Doesn't matter if you have Christian McCaffrey at AE if no one is there to block for him he will not do great. If Jared Goff came to AE but no OL and no WRs to throw to he wont have success. Send Luka Doncic to AE and they are a title contender instantly in bball.

Line was fairly young this year … so we good there .  We are 1 or 2 play makers away .  Hopefully, the 8th graders will fulfill their commitment and come on up to AE.

We all know that AE is loaded with talent every year. Sure they have the best youth league in the county. They won a lot of knox county youth league championships. The ones they did not win I think they were at least in it. Turtle can correct me where I'm wrong. He and the other AE faithful also know that the  youth league teams do not make their way to AE for HS. Stevens was able to keep kids there but recruiting wasn't the same as it is now by any means. I don't think AE will ever be back. Too many parents living through their kids, taking hand outs of all types.

AE Baby Roadrunners had a team in every youth league championship besides the 10 U because they didn't fill a team. 7u Runner Ups, 8U champs, 9U champs, 11U /12U (6th and &7th Grade) Champs, 13/14U Runner Ups.

I disagree with your statement about AE would never be back, I think with the right coach in hand (Like Stevens) they will be back and be able to keep players home.  I think the Cherry's have shown others that it can be done at AE if you just give AE a chance.  Look at the turn around the basketball team has had since Shane has been there.  With the right Coach, the football team can do the same.

Many of the outside coaches uses the killing inside of AE as a recruiting tool.  I know a player that was told to tell the KCS transfer office that they were having nightmares of that incident and can't get an education at AE because of it, just to get the transfer approved.  Did it get approved, "Yes" but the coaches that did that recruiting didnt talk to the guardian so it backfired in their face.  Its Hard Being a Roadrunner and with the right coach, they will make it even harder to recruit AE's zoned kids.  I'm telling you the 8th and 7th graders from Vine Middle that's zoned for AE right now are all thinking /talking about going to AE and bringing the State Titles back in all sports. So never say AE won't be back because they will be making State runs sooner than you think.

You said it best. Pretty much every city Knoxville school is a feeder program for the upper tier of Knoxville schools. The sad part is I don't see this dynamic changing until something is done by Knox County. Once the one time transfer rule is approved there will be little chance of a school being able to break through the glass ceiling and get to that top tier imo.

All it takes is the right coach to get land there.  Just continue thinking no changes will happen at AE.  You see how the basketball team has turned around, now its time for the football team to do it.  All it takes is the right coach.

The game was on rivalry Thursday… AE had like 10 yards in the first half before scoring on a broken play and a long scramble by Cherry before halftime. They also scored a TD when carters JV team was in late in the 4th.

i don’t think we watched the same game. It’s no offense to AE but the two aren’t comparable right now. Hopefully AE makes a good hire and all of their youth programs kids stop going to other schools.

Yea I'm pretty sure we were watching 2 different games because Carter was winning that game 14-13 at halftime.  Then Carter went up 35-13, then AE scored to make it 35-20 and then Carter scored one more.  42-20 was the final score if I'm not mistaken.  3 bad years at AE and yall think they've been in the gutter for so long its funny.  I hope Graham or Stevens gets the job and we run rule all you haters out there. Halls, Carter, and anyone else that wants to say AE is lame.

Austin Roadrunners have as much talent as Alcoa Tornado most years. Austin Roadrunners do not develop their talent as well as Alcoa Tornado. Alcoa Tornado could beat Austin Roadrunners by 50 points if they want too just like the other teams in the region.  The 60 applicants that applied for the job a lot of them had never been a head coach. They only applied to try and get their first head coaching job. There were some coordinators in Knox County that applied for the job as well. They want to use it as a stepping stone to a bigger and better job. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

So you're telling me that all the opening jobs in the state of Tennessee, AE is the stepping stone for first year coaches?  AE is such a downer program that no one wants the job and its a laughable job?  Is that what you're saying?   I'm pretty sure there's been a lot of first year coaches that have applied at other schools.  As one of the AE basketball mottos is, "Everybody vs US". AE will be back just give it time, the youth program had a few struggling years but they bounced back.  Now its time to get the High School to bounce back.  If you don't believe me just watch its success in the next few years.

Austin Roadrunners are having a hard time finding a coach. Most coaches do not want to coach Austin Roadrunners because they know they will get mercy ruled by Alcoa Tornado. Alcoa Tornado can beat Austin Roadrunners by 50 points every single year if they want to do it. It would happen. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? Turtle and Captain Guru will both be pushing up daisies before Austin Roadrunners make it back to a state title game. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

    1.  Not having a hard time hiring a coach, this snow has pushed everything back because School hasn't been in session.  By the way it was over 60 something applicants that applied for the AE job.  The AD is narrowing the numbers down and will probably hire a coach before Central hires one .

    2.  Alcoa has mercy ruled everyone team in our region , don't just point fingers at AE if you can't mention the other teams in the region getting mercy ruled

    3.  Reaching the State Title game is going to take a lot with Alcoa in our region, no team has touched them even came close to beating them in years.  Let's be realistic here!

    4.   Alcoa will not beat AE by 50 points every single year, you just be talking.  AE is probably the only team that don't bow down to Alcoa.
