That’s the consensus according to the big ones contest.

Yah it was one of two of my last picks.  I kept going back and forth.  I really don’t know a lot of what you guys have returning so I really needed to research it more but just decided to go with Gordy.  Good luck though to y’all.

Good that you have a kid that can take his place. We have had over 10 interceptions preseason so far if not more. And 3 total this first game. We are very sound defensively so far and Sweetwater wasn't a bad team offensively really. We just made them look bad.

Wow that’s really good. I’d like to see y’all win gold this year.  You got a great chance.  The Mount kid he mentioned taking over for Frame is the WR that made that miraculous diving, bobbling, one-handed catch in the end zone against y’all last year.

I'm hoping to see better consistency from an offensive standpoint.  We need to be able to sustain drives and stay ahead of the chains.

Defensively we need penetration, gang tackling, disrupt their rhythm, and create some turnovers.

If we can do this then we have a chance of upsetting CCS on the road.  Yes I said upset.  Make no mistake,  CCS is the favorite in this one.

    GO PIRATES!!

    Be careful Towner man.

    Yes

Reaction I garuntee I will be there.  I went last week to that Andy mans pizza and my ibs flared up after that steak I ate there and I had to head home.  You think im joking but im not.

Well don’t eat at Mr T’s Pizza in St Elmo right past the stadium or you will miss another game.  I ain’t joking

Fayetteville and Peabody are proven champions who both return enough to take home gold again this year, but McKenzie is big, fast, athletic, and hungry. Not ready to predict a Reb win against either, but if (when) they meet, I want to be there.

I believe my SP team has a high chance of making it, but realistically the best games prior to State will come in the quarters and semis in the West.

Problem is if kids are not at school, they are not gonna get educated. Most don't anyway but that home school junk makes sure of it. I'm afraid were just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Give it another week or 2. If these darn masks are as effective as they acted like they were, why not wear the things. I don't care for um but if they are gonna keep me safe and the people around me, what the heck. We've went about this like Idiots the whole time ,why change now. It don't seem like the higher powers wants to stop the spread.

The mask isn’t going to keep “you” safe.  It will only protect those around you if you have COVID so you “cannot” spread it to them.  Masks do help from spreading it as badly, but not help in contracting it.  It’s just odd to me that last year it was all adults and no children hardly getting it, but this new variant all of sudden appears and it has mostly affect kids until recent because now those kids’ parents have come down with it. I do believe the vaccine protects you like the flu vaccine does.  You may still get it but it’s not as rough on you.  Just do everything and I mean everything possible to stay clean and do your part and hopefully it will die down again.  JMO

I'll be honest Mike there's 100% chance that we would beat you this year if we played. Our team isn't worse than last year lol, our offense just isn't as explosive with Meadows gone. It doesn't mean we don't run for 5 yards a carry with our trio of backs. And our defense is stifling this year. We allowed 25 rushing yards this last game and forced them to throw alot and well in the end we had around 3 interceptions maybe 4. The game was 30-0 at the half and we had scored twice before our offense ever got the chance at the ball.

Hence why I put lost “a little” in quotations.  I wasn’t really sure.  I do feel we are better than last year though overall.  You are probably right though.  We do start ALOT of sophomores that see much playing time last year that should have even as freshmen

I always pick them all, Pujo.   I was so busy this week, I totally forgot about the ones at the top of the page.   I really don't understand why they can't just put them all in the list.

So the ones at the top of the list count too???  I only thought the ones in the list count???

You know I am humble pm.  As for former pirates, Starkey returned him where he belonged a long time ago, he was from jasper, as was Sam.  The dc will make or break this year's team.  The defense was the worst part of our team last year and we will go as far as the DC improves.  Do you really think yall are that much better this year or meigs worse since you said yall would fare better?

I believe we are better in some ways.  The style of ball we play all the way around fits better.  I believe Meigs may have lost “a little”, but mostly SP and Jasper have improved.

    You catch on quick.

However, in the late 90s, the place would be even more packed, especially when playing Carthage and Trousdale. Trousdale would be the last game of the season with the region championship on the line.

One thing I noticed last year that in the past made Gordy seem tougher and intimidating was driving through town all the houses had signs saying “Welcome to the Jungle”, and the team usually ran out to the playing of the song too!  I didn’t see, or hear, that last year.  Why not?

I read that you will beat Meigs by 21. Gotcha.

SP?  Or Jasper?  If Jasper I don’t think it will be by 21.  I think it will go back and forth and be a 3 or 7 point game.  As far as SP, I don’t know if we are 21 points better than Meigs.  We should fare better than last season if we were to play each other again, but not 21.

Again, I think you’re spot on. Fayetteville is the real deal. Going in I knew about the running back, but was surprised on how big their receivers were and how well their QB plays.

I myself think their passing game is better than their running game and that’s saying a lot.

I’m my honest opinion if anyone in 1A or 2A can beat Peabody it would be them… not sure it will happen though.

Again, they are loaded with size / speed and though there wasn’t a lot on the sideline they were able to rotate lineman without missing a beat!

That’s how I was in the championship game last year vs Fayetteville.  They were much bigger than they looked on film.  And they executed a really good game.

Game number 10 my man.  We should have a good little run coming the next few years, like we had 5 or So ago.  Hopefully with better results though......lol.  For us it really comes down to defense, can we get stops?  Our dc is a year 2 coordinator so that's where our weakness is. It will really make me feel better if yall beat Westview by about 40.

Y’all will do fine.  Lots of depth at nearly all positions helps.  That freshman group is gonna be special quick too.  With two former Pirates as your OC and DC it seems to be working great for y’all.  And having Sam Pickett’s (former SP all Stater with Starkey on the 99 SP championship team who had 6 TD’s in that game, and is the fastest player I’ve ever seen at SP) son as a freshman, that young man is already making a name for himself.  He has the speed and vision like his dad.  I actually see y’all going undefeated.  Just don’t become an ignorant and obnoxious poster when you do.  Be humble.

Only have 16 or 18 kids. They will be tough for us and CF but wont pose a threat to you all.

Oh wow, what has happened up that way near Cloudland?  I know CF returns a lot especially in the backfield.  Who know y’all may surprise some people.  Boyd is a good team.  All the young guys they played since were freshman and now are juniors and seniors at Boyd.  Same with y’all.  Maybe not this year but next two years should be a lot better.

Yeah I agree with everything you are saying. I believe we all do.  I agree especially about the conditioning part.  Someone told me that East Hamilton coach told him in the scrimmage that he didn’t know what we were doing down here at SP but our guys NEVER got tired.  I don’t want to jinx it but so far I’ve only seen 1 cramping for us.  People don’t know this yet but on defense we only start maybe 4 seniors.  Most are sophomores.  I believe I counted 8 or so sophomores playing at one time on defense, and probably half of that on offense.  That’s why our JV beat Sequatchie last night I believe it was 45-8.  Go Pirates!  #PFL #AllGasNoBrakes

You will find out in a few weeks Gordonsville play Coalfield if coalfield can put it on Gordonsville then that'll answer your question. week five or six Coalfield has Greenback. You will know what the East has by head to head.Right now its Pitts.

My dark horse in the East is Cloudland.  I just don’t know if they play a tough enough schedule to prepare them for the playoffs.  Don’t they return a lot?
