which SP running back impressed everyone the most?

My picks:

1.) SP

2.) Temple

3.) Whitwell

4.) Lookout Valley

5.) Silverdale

6.) Copper Basin

7.) Grace

I think TC will be in the playoffs again, but it was obvious who the top 3 teams were. TC, Friendship Christian, and South Pittsburg.

TC loses a bunch of seniors, but Friendship and South Pittsburg lose only a couple.

I will go ahead and say there will be no repeat for TC. Friendship or South Pittsburg will beat them in the playoffs.

But congratulations on the State Championship.

Well, here is my take. FCS and SP are both young teams and most like will be right there again next year. I hope so. Playoff rivalries are GREAT!! I am proud of SP. They played so hard all year long considering the inexperience and youth.

My opinion--- and with no disrespect to Vic, but COACHING in crucial situations put WAY too much pressure on the team.

FC second RB is only a lil ole 8th grader. There is no way he can compete against the almighty studs grown in S. Pitt. However, he did manage to rush for over 120 against your rival Whitwell and scored 2 times. And against TCHS he scored FC's only TD.

 

Our sophomore only rushed for 5 TD's against Whitwell and over 260 yards.

 

We will run sideline to sideline, we will throw on you and we will score 20 plus. Question is can you guys score 20 on our DEFENSE that has posted 5 shutouts in 11 games and destroyed WHITWELL which you guys managed to barely hang on against. You will have to play 4 quarters in this game in order not to get embarrassed in front of your home crowd!

Uh, OK!!! Think what you want and I will think what I want. Bring all of your defense. Rush our QB all you want. You will soon see that you haven't played a team with speed like ours. And no disrespect to Whitwell or any team for that matter, we will play all 4 qtrs when it really matters. Whitwell is pretty good, you just jumped on them early and they made too many mistakes.

Oh and not mention, a middle LB that beats most speedy RB to the sideline. so if offense is all you have, then good luck. I am changing my prediction now.

All I can think about is how SP beat Friendship a couple of years ago at Friendship when SP was actually pretty weak. I think Friendship will strike first but that is it.

Watch out TC, temple will suprise you. They don't have much in numbers, but give them a couple of years and they will be competing even better than now.

My pick is Cloudland by 3 TDs

This is not about TC or FCA, this is about LV and Gordonsville. My pick is LV by 7. I don't think Gordonsville can match the speed.

Whitwell will try to run on SP like jasper did well at, but it won't last. I just think Jasper plays with more UMPH! than whitwell. I mean, the whole game people's heads were getting knocked off. Even, if the game is close, SP will win, because Whitwell has never seemed to have that extra gear late in the game.

99 South Pittsburg. In my opinion, no one in 1A, 2A, and mostly 3A could have beaten them that year.

first of all, great game. In a couple of years Temple will be dominant in football too. Anyways, 2 guys were KINDA guarding seth. antonio covered him when he went deep and the little 5 foot guys covered him short. Josh Smith will play D1 before any other temple player. he is a junior. the little skogen is a freshman and will be the man for years to come. we didn't have to pass, we ran all over them.

I think the winner will be the team with the least mistakes. Even though the rain might be gone, it will still be wet. Personally, I don't think that will stop Smithson from throwing or that good receiver from catching. I do see Whitwell producing some numbers on the ground against Temple though. My pick:

That is a good point. This was my reasoning though:

The Coach T strength of schedule rankings and the Strength + Success are not always reliable. When analyzing teams, it is more advantageous to look at specific matchups rather than the overall schedules. For example, Huntland def. Lookout Valley 34-7 (which is worse than SP beat Lookout Valley), so why is #12 Lookout Valley 1.25 ranked higher than #13 Huntland 1.23? That's not right.

 

Also, Huntland will likely end up 4th or 5th in Region 6. Are there 6 or 7 teams in Region 6 better than the #2 Lookout Valley in region 2? maybe. does that region seem shaky to me? Yeah, but you really never know until the season plays itself out. I think region Region 7 and 8 in the West are just as good as 6. The West is stronger top to bottom. But the East has TC, FC, and SP who I would put in my top 6.

 

Also, SP has a tough draw in the playoffs. Possible FC and TC back to back in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

 

Having said all that, I believe 1A is pretty wide open. I do not think any of the teams I mentioned are head and shoulders above the rest, except maybe TC, and I believe they are beatable. It is a very interesting year in 1A b/c of the changes.

I agree, and I understand, but to be honest, if we end up in the playoffs, I would rather play TC than FC. We beat FC a couple of years ago when we shouldn't have, so I know they will be thinking of that. Good luck to all teams in 1A

3. Jo Byrns (great win over East Robertson, dominating region 5)

4. Mt. Pleasant (moderately tough schedule, good results)

5. Friendship Christian (Only loss, a blowout to Ezell, solid schedule)

6. South Pittsburg (great results, but weak region, schedule is suspect to me)7. Union City (Very physical, tough team, very tough schedule)

8. McKenzie (Tough Schedule)

9.Coalfield

10. Columbia Academy

11. Cloudland

 

I'll bet the eight quaterfinalists come from this group.

SP, weak schedule? Last time I checked the CoachT strength of schedule rankings I thought SP was higher than most of these teams? And since you seem to base your thoughts on strength of schedule, here is your top 10

I agree, it will be close just because of the rivalry involved. I believe that the Pirates depth at speed will be too much for the Warriors. Pirates by 3 TDs

Antonio Robinson for South Pittsburg (1A) 6-5 195 is also a standout in Basketball. All state in Football too. Top prospect, and could play both in college for a D1 school, but will definitely be playing at least one in college.

Can anyone tell me in what quarters did grace score they're TDs? Was it on SP's first string or on their second?

the first one was against the 1st string, but the second was against 2 and 3 string.

I wonder what the Pirates' individual stats are for the season?
