  1. No offence to the other players on South Pittsburg's team, but if you didn't have Antonio South Pitt. would just as bad as they was last year and I know its hard to say one person is the whole team but he pretty much is.........Everytime South Pitt. needed a first down they would throw it to him and of course Bledsoe's defense wasn't helping none by putting somebody on him that only come to his shoulders..........Your coach showed some real "class" by leaving the starters in after the score was 28-0 and it was the start of the 4th quarter and Bledsoe put there JV in mid-way through the 3rd Quarter.........But this game didn't mean nothing, and Bledsoe now needs to focus on Boyd Buchanan...... :thumb:

What you fail to realize is SP already plays most of its sophomores and freshmen, which make up 70 percent of the team. I noticed the only change Bledsoe made in the end of the third was a QB change. They kept their Linebackers in the whole time. I do admit that Bledsoe had an outstanding group of linebackers. In my opinion, that is their strength. And as far as throwing to Antonio!!!! You would be an idiot if you didn't use his height and speed and outstanding catching ability to get what you want, WHENEVER you want. You are just lucky we didn't run Mitchell that much.

  2. Total domination by the Pirates!! Could have been worse if not for a few penalties. Got an interesting stat for you Bledsoebtheboys......the most yards your QB had was at halftime during Homecoming, he managed to walk all the way across the field. Its a good thing that beautiful young lady he was escorting wasn't wearing a Pirate uniform..........good luck the rest of the season. Pirates now 5-0!!

Yeah, CRACK ME UP!!! :thumb: The young lady who won the homecoming was wearing an "ORANGE" dress. Coincidence? Nah.

I do want to say one thing about Bledsoe. If it was me, I would start the 2nd string QB next week. He looked pretty good and wasn't afraid to get hit.

    Good luck Bledsoe!

  3. I think the Pirates come out and avenge last year's loss (of course I don't know if they are even thinking about it).  I think they win big in this one.  Of course I thought they would win this game last year.

Nah, they won't be thinking about last years loss, because the majority are young and didn't even participate in last years contest.

  4. Hats off to Copper Basin. They played tough the first half. After we came out and scored in the 3rd, you could see the "pep in their step" switch sides. SP came out sluggish like they did against Lookout Valley, but like it was then, a few big plays and the game was over. In each of the games this year, the pirates have struggled power-wise (as someone else said), but if you watch the whole game, you see in the fourth quarter that our small, quick line begins bullying the opposing line no matter what size the other team is. Is this a question of heart and determination? in better shape? or just plain athleticism? Either way, no matter what anyone says, we are 4-0, and just like Grace Academy's Coach said in the newspaper on Friday, it is good to win.

I mean, it doesn't matter who you are playing, if you are winning, then you are definitely doing something right. Good luck to all the teams that remained undefeated after Friday night.

Yes, South Pittsburg has a lot of athletes, and will always have athletes because when these kids get older they will have kids who are even better than them and they will continue to play at South Pittsburg. Like someone said in other posts on other forums, IT IS A TRADITION. I mean, even the coaching staff is tradition for the most part. Vic's Dad coached for many years and was successful, and his younger brother is an assistant coach. TRADITION!! Get over it, it will not change.

Anyways, for all of you asking about our line, just check out the Junior High team. That is our line for years to come. Oh yeah, by the way, if you think we have young athletes on this Varsity Team, just wait till you see what will move up next year from Junior High.

As far as Copper Basin, they have some very good players and always will, but like other posts have said, our speed always seems to surpass their size.

And for Lookout Valley, they will be in the playoffs too. They are better than people think.

  6. Different players. I see Skogen as a tight end or H-back in college, if he's 215 now he will probably be at least 235 after another year in high school and some college weight and nutrition training. Robinson is good too, if I had to make a choice I'd pick Skogen since he has another year to get better before getting out of high school.

Good point, and I think Antonio will be a tight end in college also. Just how tough is he though? I see his dad and relatives at the games and when college weights and trainers get him, he will beef up.

  7. yeah, good luck to all, it has been a great week for both teams and will continue to be. SC has a great chance to race in the playoffs far.

SP just be ready next week for LV

After seeing the news on the LV vs TT all I seem to think about was a great Basketball game from the players names being called out. haha. Anyways good luck to all, see ya next week.

  8. Well, first of all, from what I have seen you fire around the outsides leaving the tackle positions wide open.  You play one deep safety, well, with speedy receivers there are many areas of the field directly over the linebackers that are perfect sit down spots for hooks.  Unless you double team #6, he will catch 90% of the balls thrown to him.  The other 10% is on errant throws.  When you decide to double team him, you leave the middle open, as I said before.  If you drop the linebackers, then any decent running team will eat you alive 4 and 5 yards at a time.  Slowly you will wear down and then begin making mistakes.  Our quickness will take advantage of those mistakes.  Of course, this is what can happen, but as I said before, we aren't the players, well, you may be.

Well, I am not going to trash talk on here, but I would have to say I pretty close to being right about everything I said. The ONLY THING I was incorrect on was the passing/catching %. The one thing I am proud of that I said was that our defense will do fine. I said if you make it through the line (if), then "Wild Man Malone" will unleash all 165 pounds on you, and he did. He probably had (not sure) 10+ tackles himself.

Two more things.... I have to add to piratetom's remark on the sportsmanship of a couple of sequatchie players. It was poor. The one penalty we got for pushing and shoving after the play was in retaliation. But anyways...................last thing.............The SC defense has been awesome in holding it's opponents to 14 points in 2 games. Well, SP hasn't done quite that good, allowing 16 points in 2 games. The only difference is, we left the field knowing we just shut out a team picked to beat us by 14 by over 60% of the pickers on here with our fullback. A sophomore who ran for just over 100 yards. We just don't have a number 1 tailback, we have at least 3 of them.

  9. And that weakness would be???????  Please dazzle me with your expert oppinion on what Sequatchie Co. is doing wrong!  14 Points allowed in two games, we better change every thing that is just awefull!

    cameron Posted Today, 08:39 AM

      what about sequatchies defense again

You have got to be kidding right?  Did we allow too many points in two games (14)?

  10. This kind of talk is what is awesome about High School Football. Funny thing is, we aren't the players. Imagine if we all still played. There would be major bloodshed, but anyways. I agree, SP does and has had problems in the middle, but when you a have a group of coaches like they do, and a group of talented kids, you will find a way on offense to do just the same. SC has weakness, and one thing SP coaches are good at is taking those weaknesses to the house. It will be a close game because SP does have weakness on defense and opponents will score when they choose at times. They will have to fight for the yards at times too. The group of talented young players that SP has and will have in the next 3 years are a whole new generation of some the greats in the past (since everyone likes to make reference), so be ready for another great game.

  11. I am a newbie at this site, so I say something wrong I apologize. I noticed lots of references to SP and them not being as good as they were in the past. I hate to be the one to say it, but the past is gone. The Pirates may not be very dominant this year, but they will suprise many with their YOUNG talent. I watched Temple VERY sluggish at the end of the first quarter, then that was FINALLY when SC was able to run all over them. Little freshman #1 for Temple ran all over SC's defense before having hamstring problems. If you thought he was quick, wait till you see the freshman backs for SP. And don't worry SC will see them, after Matthews gains 100+ yards himself. Temple's QB was a pocket passer, then if he had to scramble, it wasn't long before he went down. That won't happen to us, trust me. I bet Greenback will be in the playoffs, they are a good team, we are young and make a few mistakes, but I guarantee, the one player you double team (#6), will only open the way for another talented back. Go ahead, and blitz from the outside as you did vs Temple, and we will eat you alive. Try to run off tackle and our defensive tackles will bury you. If they don't then be ready to take a hit from wild man Malone at linebacker.
