  1. Game is over. Can't sit on here another week and talk and how Westview almost beat Milan. Move on

If you win by 3 or by 500 it don't really matter, you still got beat!! I hear the basketball fourm calling Westview!!! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I find it hilarious that Westview fans, and others, are laughing at Milan because Martin lost by 3. That tells you the state of the two programs and how great the Bulldogs are. You say Martin played a complete game? If you call Martin's offensive performance a complete game, then you need to go watch football for another 17 years. Milan turned the ball over not once, not twice, not thrice, but four times and still won. Teams that are minus 4 in the T/O dept. don't win, yet Milan did. Milan must be the greatest team ever if Martin played a complete game, Milan loses the turnover battle by 4, and Milan still wins. Hey, you got your moral victory now go watch some Lady Charger Basketball!

    /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> The Guru says......There are NO moral victorys in football....ever. A win is a win. A loss is A loss. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

    This should help ... http://www.abcteach.com/directory/reading_comprehension/

I don't whine. Cheese costs too much.

Like I said, Don't water-down what happened on that field last night because the results weren't what most(either Milan or Westview) thought they should be. Wonderfully fought game. Both teams worked hard last night. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I will be praying for Milan this week. Jesus loves you.

  2. seems like the bad weather always affects the favored team when you think it's gonna be a blowout. all i can say is WHEW!!!!!!!!

He was out of range. They would have had to have made at least one more play. Where he was, it would have been a 48 yarder. He has a great leg, but that would have been alot to ask kicking into the wind on a soaked field from that kind of distance.

And it wasn't the weather that affected Milan. It was Westview that affected Milan. I been around high school football for 17 years and last night I saw Westview play a COMPLETE game.

The turnovers were not "give me" turnovers. They were earned take-a-ways.

And Hyuntae could have made a 48 yarder. I have faith in him.

Don't water-down what happened on that field last night because the results weren't what most thought they should be. Wonderfully fought game. Both teams worked hard last night. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  3. Watch the play in the 3rd quarter where Lee Whitaker passes to #4 Casey Ivie for a TD. He got nailed in the back a couple of steps after the pass was off. I was for sure there was going to be a penalty but yet no flag came out.

I watched the game again. Those two Refs had 88% of the flags in the game. They missed a lot of calls they should have made and saw calls that weren't there on other plays. They did get 4 right that I saw. Even the announcers for Channel 11 were questioning their calls. But on that note, we only have to play the 11 from the other team ... and tackle on Defense. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

I am going to shut up now. I ain't been on here much all year and probably will try not to get on here any more this year. God bless, GCPioneer. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Speaking of bad calls,Camden got one the other night that Baffled everyone.Gaskin made a ball fake to the fullback, fullback was tackled and play blew dead.Looked down the sideline and Travis had the ball in the open field 30 yards past the pile going for the endzone. The call didnt matter eventially but it could have against a different opponent.

That happened a couple years ago at a McKenzie game. QB for the team playing McKenzie faked a hand off to the running back who was tackled ... Refs blew it dead and the ball was 40 yards away ... "repeat down ..." Yeah. Coach Ward taking lessons lol /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  4. fg1, those refs were clueless last night in different parts of the game. They were bad against us as well as against ya'll. The point in me saying that is the fact that the one ref told our coaches that he was not in position to be able to hear a time out but yet he was half way in between our sideline and where the play was occurring, lol. There was also some pass interference calls against Westview that were REALLY iffy but there was some that were legit.

I have been to a few games this year. Last nights game was for the most part ... there were only two Refs calling 76% of the penalties last night. The Ref you are referring to was one of them. It's not the Ref's fault though. Refs are out there to make the calls that they see. Last night, apparently, there were players making poor decisions just in those certain parts of the field. The teams have to ignore the Refs and play their game better. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Well, as I remember the qb last night was hit in his chest a great majority of the time. I will check when I watch the replay on Channel 11 tonight.

  5. id say the rule is pretty up in the air. my oppinion is if you have to take MORE than ONE step you should pull off, 1 step is fine. but if you can take more than 1 step then you have time to get out of the way. unless the qb is running the option and is pitching it, then you punish the qb!

Personally, I think the qb is part of the field of play. If he does not want to get hit, then he should sit the bench. There are 11 people on offense and 11 on defense, sometimes depending on if the Refs are playing as well ... so statistically the qb has to get hit sometimes. 1 step or 4 steps ... he is on the field and has to take some hits. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  6. What is the rule on a late hit on a QB after a pass is off? Last night against Westview, our QB was getting pounded into the ground by late hits. I saw one of the Westview players take 3-4 steps after the ball was away from the QB and still leveled the QB. The ref told our coaches that after a pass is off, a QB is live play for 1 second. Is this correct or was the ref wrong?

Not sure on the rule, but the kid that kept tackling the qb to the ground late in the game was Freshman Colton Nanney. I watched all of those and I can tell you that the Ref in the white hat watched each one cause I was wondering if he was going to throw a flag.

I would also be very upset if I were that qb. Nobody picked up those guys that were pounding him in the padding of 3 inch grass. A qb unprotected is a qb that will not be playing very long. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  7. ......the Chargers "drop" Huntingdon to add Henry County.......Huntingdon ... did it for them! Yes, WV COULD have payed a Memphis team to come and play for an easy win ...

To be exact, Martin WV ... contacted HC's administrators to ask if the Patriots had the date open .......... they did and that's how this game came about! [/color]

Trust the Advisor............he's in the know!

Good Luck to the Chargers ... Everytime ... Patriot fans pull for the Chargers ...

    Ok.

  8. MILAN WILL WIN THEIR GAME.

(sorry, i had to enter their name in this thread, it is in all the others on this subforum).

Humboldt has a chance, they just REALLY have to come together as a team to function correctly. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  9. I may be from westview but i go to every single Camden game. They are my favorite team!!!!!!! Camden is about to /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> over Milan then take them to /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

Nice use of emoticons. But if you are going to take them out to eat, you might want to bring a bigger vehicle and a credit card. Milan has a ferocious appetite.

  10. .......stay off this JV thread!!

...over where the big kids talk!

They ONLY did it because they only had 9 games previously scheduled and needed a 10th.

... dive back in to the grown folks talk!

Didn't Westview drop Huntingdon to add Henry County? Seems to me to be a sign of respect. Westview could have easily paid a Memphis team to come up and play in Martin for an easy Homecoming win.

JV threads ... big kids' talk or grown folks' talk. It's like this huge puzzle that needs to be put together.

  11. Not sure that'll be the case this year. Westview lost a lot of major players ... Can the young Westview squad pull another upset?

Didn't Westview Football graduate 8 Seniors last year?

Westview is young and good but NO MATCH for Henry County.

This could get a little ugly!!

Henry County has this game circled on the calender, revenge is a motivating force.

Revenge for what? Henry County has nothing to prove by beating a team that is "NO MATCH" for them.

I like Milan this year. I think Milan may go all the way to meet Alcoa in the State Championship.

Very possible, but not on the right thread.

There's a WV v.s henry county thread on the 3A-4A-5A classes page too. but anyway henry county is very fired up for this game. I think the big red will definately win but will have to play a great game. westview is always tough so i look forward to a great game.

Actually, it is on the 4A-5A-DII forum. This is the 1A-2A-3A forum.

Westview doesn't have their own stadium, and the run for the money will last about 5 minutes.

That + 11 minutes will get you 13 points.

Henry County puts a pounding on Westview. Milan wants no part of Henry County as Teague and Allen are too much for most teams to handle. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Isn??™t Milan??™s Stadium the dog pound?

  12. Especially that one in 2006 where Gibson Co. defeated that Martin Westview team by a score of 34-31 while Martin Westview was ranked #2 in the state. Man, I could watch that one all day!

Yeah. That 5 minutes would be the only thing that would keep you sane. Seriously. I was thinking more along the lines of the 0 - 50 years.

Coach Dyer is doing some good things and trying real hard over there, but from what I hear some of them boys on the team aren't. They possibly should spend more time studying and less time at the parties. They might get something accomplished. You can't serve two masters. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  13. If you played against JCS you played against TCA as both were on the Gibson County schedule last year. Better get your information straight there partner! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

You know, if it were legal, we COULD lock GCPioneer in a room and make him watch Gibson County Films continously for days on end. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

  14. I'm sure all of us in 8-2A will miss you dearly... /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

I have no doubts that USJ will continue to play a few of the teams that play in 1A and 2A if they have that option.

Hey, GCP, remember how in the other thread we were discussing how you're always wrong?

I would be be remiss if I didn't defend GCPioneer this one time. I have seen him get several things right over the last few years. That said, there weren't many. Do not get a swollen head on me GC, this is out of love for free speech and respect for the sound of an expressive mind. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
