  1. Well, first off ... if you look at the paper's website, it says ... The Jackson Sun First In News Serving Jackson and West Tennessee Since 1848 Secondly, Jackson Central Merry is NOT "the premiere program" in West Tennessee. That is a laugh. Now, if you want "premiere program" material ... go look at Brentwood Academy(9 x Champions), Milan(4 x), Maryville(8 Championships), Montgomery Bell Academy(8 x Champions), etc. I could go on and on with programs that are far better than JCM. Granted, JCM has done well but I am faltering on remembering the last time they were in the Clinic Bowl or the Blue Cross Bowl. In fact, as I look down this list of first place teams, I don't see JCM on there anywhere. And mark that word "premiere" ... it truly means "first in importance, quality, or size". As I am looking, I see that JCM has lost 3 of their last 5 games. Might not have lost those if you had an extra point kicker. Most premiere teams have an extra point kicker. Just a thought. As far as the poll goes ... I really only see one Jackson school because this is what it "should" look like. Not saying it is in the right order ... but pretty close I believe. There are at least more "west tennessee teams" and not "jackson teams" in there. 1. Westview 4-0 <plays Gibson Co. next; GC is playing well> 2. Huntingdon 2-1 <lost a close one to Westview; plays Dresden IN Paul Ward!!> 3. Covington 3-0 <plays Haywood @ home; decent effort could go either way> 4. Lexington 3-0 <play Bolivar @ home; playing well - should be 4-0> 5. JCS 3-1 <play @ Fayette Academy; should be a good test> 6. Dyersburg 4-0 <play Crockett Co @ home; first true test> 7. Peabody 3-0 <play @ Humboldt next; close game?> 8. Milan 2-0 <play @ USJ; Milan plays 3 games in 8 days; Milan should be 5-0> 9. Haywood 2-2 <plays @ Covington; close game?> 10. Crockett Co 2-0 <play @ Dyersburg; should be interesting> 11. McKenzie 2-1 <play @ Greenfield; should be 3-1> 12. Brighton 3-1 <plays Henry Co @ home; Brighten pulls it out in the 2nd half> Maybe it's right ... what do you guys think?
  2. 12yr ... Heard the QB for UC wasn't hitting too many targets? What was your take on the game?
  3. Y'all stop arguing like little girls. I am imagining y'all sitting there like a bunch of would-be cheerleaders .... "Oh no you didn't! You gonna make me hafta go and get all medieval on you." Good grief. I don't know about Riverdale, but Maryville spanked the defending 2-A State Champions in Alcoa a couple weeks ago.
  4. I understand that Humboldt has several key players with injuries. The anchors they were hoping for on the line are having knee problems. Another of their fellas broke a wrist last week. Honestly, seems to be a sinking ship. Lexington should enjoy this one like I enjoy a good meal at Baudo's.
  5. Redbird, again, have you seen Westview play? "one man team" is not accurate. As far as Huntingdon goes ... they keep on going. Huntingdon 'should' end up at least 6-1 in the region. They have a lot of talent. Someone asked about Humboldt ... Well, let's see. They blew a 21-0 lead. THEY ALSO HAD THE BALL UP BY A TOUCH-D AND AND AND THREW THE BALL. What in the heck were they thinking? You do not throw the ball with 3:00 on the clock ... up by a touch-d. You got two good backs in Donald and Wardlow .... let 'em run. That is all I will say about Humboldt. As far as the rest of the region goes ... the dark horse this year is going to be Trenton. Everyone be weary. If the Region fell tomorrow ... I would dare say that Gibson Co, Humboldt, Dresden, and USJ would not be in the final four. And to think that USJ wouldn't make the play-offs? Interesting. We'll see in another 6 weeks.
  6. 12yr, If I am correct ... don't they pull the names from the staff writers?
  7. Redbird ... did you go to the Westview vs. Huntingdon game? Milan is well coached and no matter what happens, you'll never take that away from Coach Morris. He could <exaggerating> probably take a group of middle schoolers and have a pretty decent season in some regions in high school football. I didn't say they would win a championship, but Coach Morris is a very smart fella. Milan will be smart too. Union City looked like a different team last week against Lake County. Much different than the game against Westview. They have some speed and some good blockers up front. If Union City has something that kills them more than anything ... it would have to be their frustration level. When they get flustered ... things just fall down. I hope they control that tonight. I don't predict games. That will be decided on the field tonight.
  8. Um, well, it amazes me still to this day ... Westview is good. Grant anyone doubt that. I didn't say great, perfect, or awesome. They are going to be "aight". They've worked really hard to overcome that 1-9 season a couple years ago. And trust me, they haven't forgotten that year. McNairy is struggling right now, like any team in this state at the juncture in the season, they are working the kinks out and gearing up. They started out sluggish again their first two teams, but I figure they'll give it a game either way. If they were scared, they wouldn't be playing football in the first place. They'll do well. I Corinthians 9:24 Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. You run the race and the winner is the winner.
  9. Cardinal ... I am confused. I've always been taught that they team with the best team would be the best. Players are great, but if they don't work together ... the machine don't run so good.
  10. I know several of the kids over there in that program and they are superb. They work hard and believe in God.
