I don't know who they will get to be the next coach, but, the bigger problem at Oak Ridge is Mullins, and has been for some time. I really don't see that changing, which is a shame for the program. There are plenty of quality coaches who would love to come to Oak Risdge, lets hope they get the chance.

Hey, Stars....Was Danny spradlin married to a woman named Carolyn or Caroline? Idk how she spelled it, but i grew up in OR playing football and baseball with their son Josh. I can't remember Josh's dads 1st name, but he was from Maryville, and if i remember correctly was a star baseball player for the Rebs years ago.

Danny and David Spradlin are first cousins, I worked with David at one of the plants in Oak Ridge.

Don't think it was a ploy. When Joe came back to OR for the 20 year celebration that was held for the 1991 State Championship team he stated that he was looking to come back to TN.

I never stated it was a ploy, I know Joe wants to get back to this area (as I stated in an another post), but something must not have been to his liking to turn the Kingston job down. I'm a Joe fan and still wishes he was at Oak Ridge. I miss his energy and his style of coaching, he knew how to get the most out of his teams!

Best wishes to Coach Brewster, I don't know or want to know the details of why Oneida chose to do what they did, but it just proves that when one door shuts God opens another one. And congrats to Coach McKamey at Grace for making a solid hire for Grace.

Don't disagree but have heard from sources that personally know Gaddis that he's looking to retire in 2-3 years and don't think that is what Kingston, or most programs should be looking for as a HC. My previous comments weren't meant to discredit him just because of his age. Just the stability part of the program that would have been a concern to me if I were a fulfledge Kingston football fan.

No doubt, this may just have been an opportunity for Joe to get a little raise in pay from the school he is at now. Get another offer from another school then the home school has to counter to keep their coach. He wouldn't be the first or last coach to use this method to obtain a bump in pay. Ask Alcoa! LOL

Heard that Gaddis was offered the position but has since turned it down.

Understand Gaddis has an outstanding resume' but why would you go with a coach that is pushing 60 knowing that he'll be looking for retirement very soon. The kids deserve stability, not a quick fix.

Don't be fooled by Joe's age, he is a fit 60 year old and an type A personality, he has a higher energy level than a lot of 40 year olds. If Kingston could have gotten 7-8 years of Joe, it would have been worth it.

Congratulations to Garrett Miller and Jordan Romero for making ALL-STATE in football this year for Oliver Springs. Very deserving for both!

If Kingston does indeed hire Gaddis, it would be a home run hire. Gaddis was the last coach to win the State at Oak Ridge, and would have won more had he stayed. He was the search committee's first choice at Oak Ridge after Lussier left. But was denied by the admin. powers in charge at the time. So they hired Stanton Stephens instead. I do know Joe has wanted to get back to this area for some time. My only concern for Kingston would be that this would be a stepping stone to another big school in the area eventually. Still, it would be a great hire for Kingston.

Hey, catback old buddy. I just wanted to say that I was at the game Friday and want to say job well done to OS. FC was probably the MOST physical team I've seen in a long time and they had a lot of depth to boot. Os hung in there and never quit, so that says a lot about their team and coaching staff. I think that team represnted their school and community very well.

The team made a great run and have nothing to be ashamed of, it was a great year, they peaked right at playoff time, FC was just a better team. This class of seniors was special, kinda my last connection to the team and school. Yet, I'll always support the Bobcats and the coaching staff, no matter where their careers take them.

I've just heard it all for 35 years and kinda get sick of all the whining. Trousdale, Alcoa, Signal Mountain, Riverdale. Can you honestly tell me they don't recruit? When FC starts dominating you can complain. But these are good kids and don't deserve all this.

I only stated that based on the past history of high school football in Tennessee, once you get deep into the playoffs, private schools usually fair better against public schools in the lower classifications. Those are FACTS George, not an opinion. I'm sorry if you have taken offense to those facts. If your so self rightous about good kids being mistreated, then you need to read this entire thread, you would see that the OS kids and fans are getting the majority of crap and cheap shots from FC posters. Show me MY post that stated that FC kids were not good kids or that FC cheated. I never posted that the FC kids were not good kids, nor did I ever post that FC was cheating in any way.

It's also easy to take a shot at another poster on CoachT, while hiding behind a screen name!

Facts:

1) Private schools in Division I may recruit but no more than the winning public school programs.

2) Most D1 private Schools couldn't give a scholarship if they wanted to. It's all they can do to raise enough to run the schools. There isn't any money there for scholarships.

3) Recruiting isn't prohibited. Scholarships are.

4) If FC is recruiting, they ain't doing it very well. The big college prospects go to Mt. Juliet, Lebanon and Wilson Central. And they have never won a football state Championship.

5) Private school families pay the same county taxes as public school families...and they pay tuition, too

6) Most FC players have been there since elementary or even Pre-K.

 

So get over your ugly, petty jealousy and find something else to complain about.

Reading throught this thread, enjoying the comments about the game and how each school respects one another, and how the Oneida fans, players, and coaches are among the best around (which I agree with totally). Then I get to the last page and your posts! What gives, the cars broken into is a shame and disgrace, but, you don't know who is responsible for those actions, it could be anybody from anywhere, and even if it were OS residents who are to blame, that doesn't mean the whole community is to blame. Unfortunately, these types of people LIVE EVERYWHERE even in the Oneida community. I do know that the school has cameras posted all around the outside of the school, I'm sure there are, or can be reviewed.

Good Luck to Oneida next year, I'm glad OZ and Oneida play every year now, win or loss, it's always a great high school football game.

Croz has seen region 4 football all year...OZ will get creamed. FCS has some of the best athletes from all over northern middle tn. I'd be surprised if OZ even scores in this game.

Even the village idiot can watch alot of football, yet , he's still an idiot! As far as the talent, I have no doubt about that, when you can recruit, you should have some talent on the team.

Looking at Oliver Springs' schedule. They lost bad to some not so good teams.

Spoken like a true football fan who knows very little about high school football. (judging a team who has advanced to the 4th round of the playoffs by their schedule and not ever having seen them play a down of footbal). Had you seen those games you spoke of you would have known that OZ kinda shot themselves in the foot in those games, except the Sunbright game, who has a QB that would start for any 6A team. OZ is peaking at the right time, has a ton of senior leadershp and is playing at home. I will give you this though, it's always tough for a public school to compete with a (recruiting ) private school this far into the playoffs in any classification, but, especially in the smaller classifications.

Good win...Heard we are still content on trying to throw the stupid football...Idk why we continue to do something we convert 25% of the time...Just makes no sense...Anyways this team atleast didn't lose to a average team....Going up against "The Real Deal" next Friday....I look for us to get smacked in the mouth but I wouldn't miss it for nothing just in case....Look forward to seeing us in action....Again good win...I will post more when I get to watch some of it
