You dont think that this years Alcoa team couldnt obliterate that record? They were 1 point from 700 points this season. Alcoa for the past 5 years had reserves in before the 4th quarter in most "blowout" games.
And now they taunt the other team after they constantly hit them with late hits....Again.....stay classy

Your beloved Scott Meadows would do the same thing...did you team not put up 70 a few times back when you played?? didn't your teams lack of DISCIPLINE cost Alcoa a state title back in 01?? Sorry Devil fans that SOME of us Alcoa fans don't know how to act, but you'll find out next year that our program is 1st class and most of our fans are very respectful....Congrats on bringing another gold ball back east!!

Congrats to Wartburg on a GREAT season, it's not easy for any program to claw it's way back to the top, but, you all did!! You can take pride in knowing that you played a big part of rebuilding your football program at your school for the rest of your life.

excuse me, but #30 had every single right to do something, Yes it might have made OS look bad, but if you people knew the whole story you could understand why he did what he did, so stop judging OS for "rumors", when u know the story...then you can make comments.
I'm sorry Christina, but trash talking on high school football fields is as old as the game itself, even in sandlot games, and it goes on at every game. Does every player do it? No, but every player has heard it more than once! And NO, I don't care if he said something about his sister or mother or whoever, you walk away, no if's, ands or buts about it. You walk away!!
If those things were said, he got the exact reaction he was hoping to get. I don't support that type of trash talking and I think you should let your playing speak for itself, BUT, it does go on!!!
As far as running up the score, was it not 35-7 at half time, how many points did Wartburg score in the second half. Anyway it's the playoffs, you do what ever you need to do, to prepare your team for the next game.

No. 30 definitely lost his cool. I don't think he was trying to get Wartburg players ejected at the end. I just think he wanted to fight anyone in a blue uniform at that point.
The right decision was made to end the game. No reason to chance anything more happening when the game was pretty much over anyway.
The school needs to suspend the kid, bar the kid and his dad from attending any further after school activities for the remainder of this year and next year. If nothing is done, this type of behavior will only continue. There will be some who will try to blame the coaches for having no control of a player, the coaches are not on the field, they can't stop someone from displaying poor judgement or behaving poorly at any given time on the field.
Besides that, if one of my kids acted out on the playing field, it wasn't one of his coaches he had to worry about. They knew they would have me to deal with.

Actually the Tennessee Action Ratings show Fayetteville(????) as the 1961 champs while Litkenhous has the Bears. Anyway, not worth arguing over something that happened 49 years ago.
This Friday's game should be a barn-burner at BCHS. Best of luck to both teams!
Your right, the OR website list it as a State Championship year, but, I couldn't find out who appointed it. Maybe Clary knows who that title came from.

Being a life long Oak Ridge fan, I don't know where some of you think Oak Ridge fans are Maryville haters. We have always respected the program and look forward to the day when our program is back at the same level it was a few years ago. Oak Ridge has had a long proud tradition of winning too and know what it is like to have the bullseye on your back. Good Luck Maryville the rest of the way and we are happy to have you back on the schedule for the next two years.

What it means is even though there are 2 different threads about his team's upcoming game , he chose to post in a thread about Maryville , hoping to take a shot at them ..... I know , pathetic isn't it . For years around this area , all Maryville heard from teams like Oak Ridge , Farragut and Bearden was that we were afraid to play with the big boys .... well last year Maryville did move up , and yes we've lost to Alcoa twice and White Station .... but Maryville has still not lost to a so called "Big Boy " . I guess when you're a Maryville hater you have to be very creative to find things to bash them with , when the best you can do is a "21 point loss on your home field Moral Victory " ( Hey did you see that big hit on that Kick off team Oak Ridge had !)
No, you never "heard from TEAMS like Oak RIdge", etc... You heard from POSTERS who may or may not have supported the "TEAMS" you mentioned. What I find funny is that of all the people (or posters) on CoachT, it's you that has the gawl to get on BR about posting on a thread thats not about the team you support. Look back on all of your posts, and tell me they are on Maryville threads only!!

I would be curious as to the authority of Oak Ridge's 1961 Championshhip since Bradley claims the 1961 Championships as well.
Of course back then they were voted by various media outlets so it is possible for both to be awarded championships by different groups.
For the year of 1961, Oak Ridge was recognized by Tennessee Action Ratings. Your right, before 1969, when the TSSAA finally came up with a playoff system, you could have multiple teams as State Champs.

OK, I've come out of hybernation, so I might as well post what I'm thinking.
First off, this is in no way intended for the Rockwood players, coaches, or fans. I have nothing but respect for your football program.
This is for the posters who for the last two years has bashed OZ in every regard and especially when it comes to their schedule.
OK, we beat a quality team, and won a first round playoff game, even though we were the lower/lowest seed, and had not one, but two kids rush for over 100 yards in the game, and both go over 1000 yards for the year, not too bad in my book!
What is gonna be your knock on OZ now (JetHead)?????

Wartburg has been wanting this rematch after falling 27-32 in OZ. Oliver Springs came out of nowhere and dominated Rockwood in the first round which shocked everyone. Anything is possible in these playoffs. Wartburg lost to OZ due to poor special teams and turnovers. Wartburg has had a week to prepare and after seeing them beat Sunbright they looked like the Wartburg team that they are. If Wartburg comes out and plays to full potential we could see the dawgs heading farther in the playoffs. They will have the home crowd behind them and they will not take a loss. If OZ wants to win they better play off of Wartburgs mistakes like they did in week 9. I see the real Wartburg team that went 5-0 to start the season and ending it with a big win against Sunbright coming out and winning one at home. I want the dogs winning but i know the folks at oz will want their team pulling another upset. Sorry but this rematch will go to the Wartburg Bulldogs.
Yea, we heard the same thing about Rockwood last week, OZ is a better team than folks want to admit. I think this oughta be a great game, could go down to who has the ball last.
