  1. I guess the same way that Ivan Sanders voted Elizabethton #1 all season last year instead of Alcoa....until CAK beat them, then he gave his vote to them. That's how.

    And you are a homer.

Dang Coach, If your number one in the polls, isn't that all that matters!!! :roflol:

  2. Here I am Catback... Sorry but I have a life beyond a football board so I don't hang out as you obviously do. Cheap shot....not at all. Plenty of cheap shots...late hits...and dirty play to go around from OR. I saw two spears...the one on Horne when he was injured and another in the third period, several late hits in which only one was flagged. Dirty....absolutely! Blade signature....absolutely. Watched Blade coached teams for several years. Call it playing hard or what ever but it is dirty. Were they trying to injure another player?....doubt it but it is dirty football.

As for the game....OR kids played hard on defense and brought some big hits. That's part of football and good for Maryville to experience. They need to be hit from time to time.

Here I am??? What the he*& does that mean?

You won't understand this, but, in my book when you get on message board and belittle 15-18 year old kids, and won't man up and sign your name to it, you are nothing short of a coward. And those that do know you, would probably agree!! :x

Answer this for me, What's worst, a late hit in a football game or being an adult and a coward?

  3. First time to Oak Ridge. After all these years of watching HS football it's hard to believe that I have never been to a Oak Ridge game and their stadium. Great setting and it's nice to visit schools that actually have enough seating. Good game and good challenge for Maryville. Several Maryville kids got some quality time but most of the first saw a full game, something they needed. Thought OR was one of the dirtiest teams I have saw in a while....no surprise though since that is a coach blade signature. That was confirmed by several. Good luck to the ridgers.

I wondered when MLREB would show up again, and diplay his ability to take a cheap shot at Oak Ridge, and he did.

MLREB, you are nothing short of a COWARD, you hide behind a screen name, and insult any and all without any credit. And don't respond with the ol "everybody knows who I am" because not everybody does, thus your post and cowardly cheap shots!!

Man-up Coward, when you make a post of this nature, then sign your name to it!! :thumb:

  4. Up until last night I thought Bradley was just overthrowing his receivers but upon further review the receivers are just loafing along and are not getting to their spot on the field. Then the pass is ten yards too long, not Bradley's fault. But since most of them have hands of stone they couldn't catch a cold if you threw it to them. Am I way off base or am I correct?

I don't think your way off base at all, seems to me, that some, not all of the receivers are avoiding contact (or the thought of contact), thus poor routes are being performed. I think that is one reason you saw the Normand kid playing some receiver last night, the kid is a good athlete, and if you watched him on defense last night, you know he's not afraid of making or tacking a lick.

  5. Quarles always gets the 2nd string QB a lot of playing time . George would rather the 2's get more playing time than to run the score up .

It's too bad that more coaches don't follow GQ's lead on this subject. I think it always pays off somewhere down the line, and it seems he does his best not to embarrass the other team in one sided victories.

I thought the OR defense played a good game, good enough to make a game outta of it, but, five turnovers against any GQ team is gonna result in a loss, I don't know of many teams that have the ability to cash in on turnovers better than Maryville.

I hope OR can turn things around and hopefully playing the younger kids will pay off in future seasons. Can you imagine what last night would have been like if these two teams had been undefeated and both ranked in the top five. Right now, Maryville is doing their part, lets hope OR can reach that same level of play, and the powers to be, make sure this game continues on every year.

  6. Have you seen Brentwood Academy play?

    No

But I do know that based on games played so far. The teams Brentwood has played have a combine record of 8-16, not a very tough schedule IMO. While the teams that Alcoa has played has a combined record of 15-8, with 4-0 Kingston, 5-0 CAK, 4-0 Howard, still left to play. Not to mention that they beat Maryville, who is a top 5 pick to be playing for a state championship in 6-A this year.

  7. When did having the most D1 players on your roster make you the best team in the state? I did not know they handed out Gold Balls for that.

If that was the case this year, Pearl Cohn in Nashville probably has more D1 prospects than Alcoa. But we all know who is going to win 3A.

OK, you really want to bring up Gold Balls, because last time I checked, Alcoa has won 7 out of the last 10, and have total of 11. (Brentwood on the other hand last won one in 2006, then you have to go back to 1996 for the next one)I never made the claim that D1 players equate a gold ball, those are your words, not mine. But, I think it would be fair to say that if you have a team with multiple D1 prospects, chances are you've got a pretty good team. If you've seen this Alcoa team, and I've seen them up close for the last 10 years, this team is loaded and will be for the next few years. The original post was not about gold balls, but, that Matt thought that Brentwood was the best team in the state, I don't agree, I think it's Alcoa, and am surprised that footballDad doesn't feel the same way! :thumb:

  8. first O played 1 play the entire 2nd half, first D played 3 plays the entire 2nd half and the play they scored on was a wide reciever screen(thrown behind the line not down field).

and my problem is with people like you thinking you're all high and mighty and say your team has never done it, when the scores show wartburg has done it 1 time in over seven years. can the great os say that? no. but you can be a hypocrit and trash wartburg.

I'm not sure I follow your post, but let me point out to you that:

1.Where in any of my post did I trash Warburg?

2.Never did I say I was "high and mighty", but, that in Coach Bracketts short stint as the OZ coach, I have not witnessed him "running up the score".

3.By your own remarks "the great os", you prove my point, that you just have a problem with OS.

    4. You can call me a hypocrit on a message board, because your hiding behind a screen name.

    5. Judging by your post, I'm not sure your a dad, or some kid still in school.

  9. check scores of os last couple of years vs Hancock Co,Oakdale,Coalfield,Clay Co, etc... os is who runs scores up and those are the facts for you catB

You want some cheese with that wine SoreDad???? :roflol:

Funny, while checking past OZ scores, I ran across some scores for past Kingston, Alcoa, CAK, and even Loudan games, where 50 or more points were scored on OZ , yet I didn't find any OZ game where OZ scored more than 50 on any team. Maybe mine and your take on 'runnng up the score" is different. If you have your starters in the fourth quarter and your up by more than thirty, and your throwing the ball down the field, that is running up the score. If in the same situation, your running between tackles, and not trying any trick plays, that is not running up the score. With that though, if a defense can't stop a simple run play and the offense scores, so be it. The coach should not have to tell his second string players just to lay down. In the case of last years Oz vs Coalfield game, that's what I saw alot of in the second half, poor tackling by Coalfield. You just have a problem with OZ, get over it!

  10. Says you, I too have a CD of every game that both of my sons played in High School, I watched last years game last night. The only starters OZ had on the field after the 3rd quarter were position players that he did not have a back-up for, and everyone of those kids was either a juniors or Soph. You need to view YOUR tape again, then throw out those sour grapes!

  11. 2009 coalfield vs os

    coalfield=====2

    os============48

i never saw backups for os, so if you don't think every team has done it, your wrong. I'm not saying it wasn't wrong. what I'm saying is people that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Sorry SoreDad, but your dead wrong!! My son started on both sides of the ball last year for OZ, and he and two of his fellow lineman, never saw the field in the fourth quarter of the Coalfield game, and the back up quarterback played most of the fourth quarter. Please try to get your facts straight before posting. You can say what you want about Coach Brackett, but, I NEVER witnessed him run up a score on any team with starters, once the game was in hand. Not that anyone would have blamed him considering some of the lop sided defeats he took in his first few years!!

  12. RebelRon,

You probably already know this, but, if your going to Big Ed's, go early, like 5:00 early.

This game will be alot like the Florida vs Tennessee, Maryville has too much talent and depth, I'm hoping OR can make a game of it. Enjoy the surroundings, it should be a great night for football!!

    Go Wildcats!!!!

  13. Cat. Seems you have something personal on your mind.

You leave this message on two different threads so spit it out.

You are kind of vague, so I will be too and say that I was a "part of" all Alcoa state championship teams except for 1989 when I was off defending our Great Nation.

    Holy Cowabunga!!!

APB, you must be a little paranoid or something, your reading WAY to much into my question. I thought that you may have played on one of the previous years state championship teams. No hidden agenda, just wondered. But, after reading your response, I'm not gonna lie, you peaked my curiosity a bit. I'm still trying to figure out what angle you thought I may have had though!! If for some reason you don't want to answer the question, that's cool! :thumb:

  14. To the Panther fans that are now feeling their oats and posting on the PrepXtra site that they want a piece of Alcoa, be for real.

We rolled you up in the preseason and nothing has changed.

We do, however, need to schedule four games next season, so make the call, and The F5 will huff and puff and blow your house down. :popcorneater:

APB, I was just wonderng what championship team were you a part of at Alcoa?

  15. Twenty four kids on the freshmen team is not a good sign. It is imperative that Robertsville and Jefferson have good programs. I know Robertsville is holding up their end of the bargain, but Jefferson needs to pick it up a notch, they have been allowed to flounder for years in both numbers and wins. If both teams delivered 15 boys per year to the freshmen team, twenty of those would play as sophomores. You would think that in a school of 1400 we could keep 25 kids per class out for football, especially with the facilities, tradition and support. Apparently that is not the case.

As for the community, you can't lay this on them. If you saw the fan support at Farragut, Central and again at Blankenship, the fans and support are still there, solid. Oak Ridge supports it's football team as well as any community that I know of, especially for a town of 28,000, the support is exceptional.

Let's face it, everybody wants to be a part of a winner. We have to stay the course, keep working hard, and hope for a good group of freshmen or two to come through and win the region. It all starts there. Our goal right now should be just to win our own region. Right now we're not even the best team in our own county.

It is not the time to start pointing fingers and blaming everybody. Just do your part and let everybody else do their part. Everybody wants to win.

    ORKAT,

I agree with your post except the last part, I know you don't like to read on CoachT about so called finger pointing, and for some reason you take that as an act of not supporting the kids who are in the program right now. But, it is time to finger point and hold the people who are responsible for getting OR football back on track to take some positive actions. It's not one person's fault, but, a group of individuals who are in place to make a difference. The school board, the principales and vice principales and the football coaches at each middle school and the athletic director and head football coach at the high school. The members of the community, parents of players and the boys club should be working together for a common goal, restore and replinish OR football. The problem is, this is never going to happen if people do not speak up about the problems, thus the kind of posts your seeing on CoachT. The problems can be fixed, but, they must FIRST be addressed, or nothing is going to happen or change!

Look, this doesn't have to be a witchhunt, get the folks mentioned above (minus community and parents for right now) in a room and brainstorm on what can be done in a POSITIVE WAY to improve every program in Oak Ridge. Then include selected parents and OR residents for their support and involvement, and start making positive changes in each program. Start off with small steps and build on those. It wil take some time and effort, but, it can be done. The first step is to set a goal!
