  1. Don't know how many kids/coaches actually get on here and read these posts, but hopefully the word will get back to them. TO ALCOA'S SENIORS: Thank you for 3 great seasons! It's been my pleasure watching you grow these past 3 years. Friday night was an emotional game for you, I'm sure. I respect each of you for the way you conducted yourselves through out your high school football career. You had something to prove this year, and you did it well. You did it with finesse and class. I consider it an honor to have my son be a part of your accomplishments. You are champions, and you conduct yourselves as such. I'm very proud of you boys! Thank you for taking my son into the family your sophmore year and treating him like he'd been there his whole life. I knew you would, for YOU ARE ALCOA. Thanks for being his brothers. TO THE COACHES: Thank you for helping my son grow into the young man he is. We could've done it on our own, but having men such as yourselves helped make our job easier. TO THE JUNIORS: Next year is your year. Take the torch and carry it with respect and pride...I know you will. You will have something to prove next year. TO THE UNDERCLASSMEN: You had a wonderful senior class to look up to this year. Take the lessons they taught you and go forward with them. I'm looking forward to watching you grow just as I did the seniors. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 3-PEAT!!!! BEAT MURVUL!!!
  2. Here's what volcamry stated: "No, I think we have seen Alcoa last year and they might be the same or equal to last year's team and that is about it. " Nowhere did I mention that everybody has underestimated Alcoa, I said "Gotta love it when people underestimate our boys!" And, oknative, at the beginning of the year, I had no idea what to expect from Alcoa because of the "senior stars" of last year. They've proven themselves week after week (yes, even after the 2 losses). Overestimating our kids? No, I don't think so.
  3. Different coach, different team. Remember, our boys are a year older, bigger, stronger, and faster than last year. How can you say that "they might be the same or equal to last year's team" when you haven't seen them this year??? Gotta love it when people underestimate our boys! Win or lose, I'm proud to be a TORNADO!!!! BRING IT HOME WHERE IT BELONGS, BOYS!!!
  4. I noticed you went back and revised your original post. "Or is this the real Alcoa?" is no longer on there. It could be that you were revising when I was posting, but from that one statement, it would appear that it does matter to you what school he's from. He stated his opinion, and that's what this forum is for... opinions. Alcoa fans shouldn't have to apologize for a post that someone else said...the only way I would apologize is if I knew for sure that person was from Alcoa. I've seen much worse posts on this forum than that one... it was actually a bit mild compared to some I've seen. IMO, he's toeing the line, not crossing it. Didn't mean to lecture, just trying to make a point.
  5. Just to be fair, the response you replied to wasn't an Alcoa fan...I believe he's from another school that Alcoa played! The thing is, only the boys know what really happened. Knowing the Alcoa boys, I find it hard to believe that they got together and made the thing up, just like the GP parents know the GP players, and find it hard to believe that one of their kids would do that. Alcoa, just like every school in America, has fans who will harass the referees and will come on and say some really mean and arrogant things and will embarrass the heck out of the rest of us. From the guy in the stands who yells because calls haven't been made (and is wrong 90% of the time) and yells "where's the hanky?" (again, wrong about 90% of the time), to people posting things about how the game's not even going to be close (when they haven't seen GP play since last year), bad fans are everywhere. No school is immune from it. It does no good apologizing for those few, just know that for every one like that, there are 10 of us who realize this is high school football and enjoy the thrill, and let the boys play it out on the field. Hope we have a good, clean, injury-free game come Friday night at 7:00 CST.
  6. Hope everyone has a safe trip to Murfreesboro tomorrow. BE SAFE!!!
  7. Okay, I've just been lurking, trying to stay out of this, but I can't stay quiet anymore. If the incident with the GP boy really happened (and I have no reason to not believe the young men who said it), then I hope he realize what he just did. He just stoked the fire!!! He didn't just disrespect one of our players by doing that, he disrespected the whole team. These seniors are like brothers... nobody better mess with them. I predict an "F5" in the 'Boro come Friday night!!
  8. Haven't seen Hillsboro play, but GQ & Company is amazing. Can take a group of boys that nobody said had a chance of going to the championship (much less going undefeated and winning the whole thing) and turn them into champions. This household will be 5 strong come Sat. cheering on Murvul!!! This will be the first time in my life I've gone to a MHS game and cheered them on! (Of course, the only other MHS games I've gone to are the Murvul-Alcoa games!) GO REBELS!!!!
  9. They'll have to find a way to stop Shivy and the passing game if they expect to win. Even if they stop Shivy, there's Tate and Hodge waiting in the wings. Thompson is always a threat, too. I'll have to agree with you on one thing, though: We all hope for a good, clean, injury free game.
  10. Count 5 in as staying on Sat. to cheer on the Falcons and the Rebels!!! Let's make some noise!!!!
  11. May God be with the family and friends during this difficult time. More prayers from Alcoa.
  12. As tornadogold stated: "Most of the posters on this thread saying Alcoa's gonna hand GP its footballs on a platter are not Alcoa fans."
  13. Okay, people (who at least have an 8th grade education) misspelling words on this forum is driving me crazy! I believe you mean "lose". Also, when someone comes on here and gripes, it's called "whining", not "whinning". If you're guilty of this and you don't have a 5th grade education, then you're excused. If Alcoa loses, most of us will come on and admit we got beat by a better team. But, until that happens: IT'S GREAT TO BE AN ALCOA TORNADO!!!
  14. Gary Rankin Buck Coatney George Quarles Need I say more??? Come on, East Tn.!!! Bring 'em home!
  15. Congrats to Fulton on going to the 'Boro!!! Knox area teams will bring the gold ball home: 2A: Alcoa 3A: Fulton 4A: Murvul
  16. Good luck Fulton!!! Can't wait for a good football weekend: Friday night: ALCOA Saturday: FULTON MURVUL Lipscomb got beat by a 2A team??? Fulton beat Alcoa by a measely 3 points; close game. Fulton takes this one!
  17. No, instead of having "two stud" defensive tackles, we have 4 that rotate in and out: Marsh, Cooper, Keller, Sykes. Cooper & Sykes are the bigger of the 4, Marsh isn't tall, but he's big. Keller is close to Cooper & Sykes. They've managed to get the job done! Owlsuperfan89: The quickness on our d-line is definitely an improvement. Those 4 may not be as big as White or Avery, but they're a lot quicker and LOVE to hit! (And I'm not just saying that as a parent!!!) I LOVE it when people underestimate our boys! I have no doubt Goodpasture is better than last year, but parts of Alcoa's game is, too. Go ahead, contain Shiverdecker, but who's going to contain Tate or Lanxter or Hodge or Sommer or "JUICE" (JK, everybody loves Juice!)!!!
  18. "Nobody else really did anything????" Shiverdecker can't do it by himself! Hats off to the offensive line for doing their jobs! kudos to the defense for some great playing. This TEAM is just that: a TEAM. I don't think you'll hear any one person taking all of the credit. That's a big difference between this year and the last 2 previous seasons. Smith County was a great football atmosphere: the crowd, the noise. I was pretty impressed by how many fans stayed in their seats until the end of the game and never gave up on their kids. I agree with Tom: the train whistle was a bit much. What do you try to do, deafen the opponents so they can't hear the play calling? I know it's a tradition, but can they turn the volume on that thing down some??? The fireworks (the ones that worked, anyway) were a nice touch. Carthage looks like a really nice place, just like Alcoa, a good place to raise kids and let the kids be kids. Good luck on your season next year. Thanks for having us down. We appreciated the Gordonsville and Westmoreland fans we saw on our side of the field! Alcoa: WE'RE GOING TO THE 'SHIP!!!!
  19. Thanks. We plan on being there when the gates open! Sounds like how our Murvul game is every year! We love it!
  20. What time do the gates open??? "do you think the sc visitor bleachers will be able to hold the alcoa fans..they travel pretty well" My point exactly! Can't wait to get to the game and into the hs football atmosphere!!
  21. From the picture it looks like your visitor's side goes from the 30 to the 40. Ours goes from the 20-20 (at least...I'd have to look at a tape of the game or run up to the field to be sure...sorry, it's not worth it!). We should have NO problem filling up those stands! You may want to tell somebody to bring in some temporary stands!
  22. Thanks for the link. It sounds like Maynord & Rankin have the utmost respect for each other, as well as being "brothers". Should be a great game!
  23. We may need to run in & get the paint there instead of waiting to get home!
