  1. Dear mustangbandie, My feeling about half time shows is that the same routine does get pretty dry after a couple of home games. Sure, I do generally enjoy the visiting band. I also believe the active bands during the game add a lot to the crowd enthusiasm. Eventhough I would like to see something different at half time from the home band, your honest and clear reply shows the realities of why that does not happen. The post is appreciated. God Bless. Dart.
  2. I caught a fairer weather forcast..we will see. Seems to me lacking in all this thread is a "common opponent". When OR won in 91( a long, long time ago), there was Franklin Co. as a common oponent with Gallatin.(That was the game with the Jeff Hall record field goal and some terse moments with a Franklin Co. player out on the field for a long time). Those folks at Fanklin Co said Gallatin would be no prob and it wasn't. No common opponent this time makes for a lot of speculation and a whale of a game to be at in person! The champ game of 91 was at Knox Central. The state game was a wipe up of events. With no common opponent, we are all guessing and that is exactly why I will be at the game. Yelling my head off for OR. God Bless. Dart.
  3. Wow! When I posted this thread I thought it might be pulled for lack of interest. Glad to see some thoughts from you folks. I like band music but get tired of the same routine every home game. Sure, during the game, the active band will generate a lot of spunk and excitement if in tune with what is happening on the field. Still, halftime show repeats every week are a bit much for me at home games. I do repsect the band members and our band sounds great..does it really well but it is the SAME THING each week at home games. A good set of fight song and get with it stuff, even more "another one bites the dust" might help the crowd during the half. I want to think the halftime is more that just another practice session. Great comments. God Bless. Dart.
  4. Well, at least playing at Oak Ridge, the play by play announcer will be closer to within the rules! Anyway, I see a close game. Who knows? I don't . I do know that in 91, Gallitin got inside the red zone and was rebuffed. The same happened with Jeff Co. and with DB the last couple of games. Defense is strong on that side. OR got burned with the pass with DB. Does Riverdale pass? Still, OR ran the road. Look at the stats from the Jeff Co. game and the DB game and see that in both cases the loser did some real stuff. Jeff was a tough team. Jeff is a tough team. The D of OR beat them in my opinon. RD has not faced that D on the run. I ask again, does RD pass the ball? How well do they defend the pass? I will be there. Hope anyone with the time to get to the game can attend. I love this stuff and when the season ends, there will be a down time. This should be a great game..I predict OR but that is on the edge. That is why we will be there Friday night...to see it all unfold. God Bless. Dart. been there for almost 50 years, too young at the time to remember the first few games.
  5. Dear Posters, At halftime at the football game I am at, the band goes through the same routine each and every game. The half time performance is using the time as a "practice field" for band competitions. This is not unusual but is a bore and certainly a band can play for practice at away games and even ONCE IN A WHILE do something more boosting to the crowd who came to see the game! At least, I would believe the band part should be more supportive of the game at hand and not to always use the home field as a practice session during halftime. At your school, does the band do the same thing each game? Is the band director alert enough to actually have some variation and boosting stuff for the fans? Let me know. Is it a rule or something to do the same routine at every home game? Surely, a halftime show can be more of a boost to the fans than the bore it becomes with constant repeat every game. God Bless. Dart.
