  1. I'm not even from the area but how can you not respect Maryville... The best team in the state year after year by far...

I agree bulldogQB2. I am from the area and I hear a lot about Maryville. A lot of people don't like Maryville because they win so many games and that is understandable. I have heard it said about them many times, you may not like them, but it is hard not to respect them for the success of their program. I have seen Maryville play several times. It is a first class place.

  2. If the game is turnover free, this should be a good game to see. PF's back is against the wall. They know that this is a make or break game for them. GP will be fired up because of last years loss at Hammonds field. Whoever wins this one, it should be a good game to watch! I hope this series continues in the future. I hear that the rivalry keeps the fire burning year around between the two schools!

  3. Does anyone know what the enrollment is at Alcoa? Are they close to 3A or will they be 2A for a while? If Alcoa ever goes 3A, they would probably be in 2-3A.

    Alcoa

    Fulton

    Catholic

    AE

    AC

    Kingston

    LA

    Scott County

    Did I leave anybody out?

    If not, what a region!

  4. One of the more logical posts I've ever read! Beef, you're dead on brother. If you don't mind me using your take to add a lil somethin, Explain how can PF be so"Young" and have had so many coaching changes allready? Obviously the head guy isn't fooled by that excuse. He thinks PF should make it what, three games deep, or heck why not all the way to the "boro"! :thumb: Was the former coach a football genius? Maybe not, but I guarantee you in a school with more support from the principal and community, his record would have looked much better. This young team you're talkin about, they went to the playoffs every year under him. Maybe "Coach" PS needs to stop listening so much to the voice of certain parents, and look at some facts. When coaches aren't allowed to actually coach, i.e. raise their voice, say the slightest of harsh words, or express disappointment in poor effort, it's hard to develop the talent you are working with. Anywhere in East TN where you find a solid team year in and year out, you'll find an administration that keeps their two cents worth out of the locker room, and lets the coaches COACH! I hope Pigeon Forge can be one of the top teams in the region. Carter, Claiborne Co., Seymour, those teams won't leave any room for error. PF needs to get on it quick if they hope to hang in there. I know this post sounds critical, but I'm truly pullin for the Tigers, just call it tough love.

You and bro beef and are right off. Your post is critical of PFHS. You are bringing up the past again like others who want to see the program fail because of connections or ties to the former head coach who was let go. Let the past die. Let it go for the sake of the football team and most importantly the kids who play. By the way, I have heard plenty of things about the former coach that supports every reason known to let him go. By what you are stating, I am sure that you heard of every reason that there is to keep him, but you and me don't make the decisions. Leave that to the adm and forget it. It is in the past.

If you support PFHS football then say something positive about the here and now.

By the way, I would say that you and beef are Cosby fans. Glad you guys are 2-0. Tough game coming up Friday. It would be great to see the new and improved Cosby team at 3-0.

  5. Not to kick a dead horse while it's down, but you can't use the "young" excuse for ever. Example, their baseball team has played for the state title the last two years, the basketball team is always a region threat, and the girl's basketball team is good year in and year out. PF has a lot of seniors and this will be their last chance to leave their mark of Tiger Football. They have played HS football as long as any one else they play, like I said before...it's gut check time, not time to make excuses!!! B)

I am not trying to make excuses about the team or their performance. I agree that it is gut check time for the team. I am saying that the school is young and the coach is new, etc. I don't see that the negative comments being made about PFHS as being constructive or helpful. It was just another opportunity to slash the program. Your comments, I don't believe were to cause damage.

I would not argue this with you, but I think that there is a difference in mens and womens bball and mens baseball in comparison to football. Much fewer players, logistics, money, etc. is required to make these sports successful than football. It is much easier to come up with eight athletes with the right frame of mind for bball, or 12 or 14 for mens baseball, than it is for 28 to 30 for football. Anytime that you are dealing with more people it is much harder to get everybody on the same page. The memories of the junk that I heard went on with the football team the past couple of seasons is still lingering this year.

Your right, PFHS has a group of senoirs that need to get it going. Forget the past and move on, but when dealing with kids most of the time it is easier said than done.

The knock on the Principal and saying that PFHS is a joke is not needed because it is untrue.

  6. volcamry42:

Looks like you know them (Goodpasture) well.

I know that Alcoa has 4 very good running backs and a very quick and talented QB. Their defense is amazingly fast. They cover everywhere (run and pass) on the field so very well. Alcoa played 4A powerhouse Maryville very close last week. I will be really surprised if they don't make it to the final 2A game.

Good luck to Goodpasture this season. Good chance both teams will run into each other.

  7. your unsolicited compliment is greatly appreciated from one end of pigeon forge to the other. will you be attending seymour or gp when you start high school?

funny Unitas! I believe that he will be attending primary school at one of the two schools mentioned first. I hope that he graduates kindergarten this spring!

  8. Alcoa played Maryville in a very close game last Friday night. Final Score Maryville 17 Alcoa 14. If you don't know much about Alcoa's cross town rival Maryville, they have won quite a few 4A championships in the past 4 or 5 years, and Maryville is loaded again this year.

Alcoa has to be clearly considered the best in 2A because of how they matched up against a team like Maryville this early in the season.

  9. P.F. cannot keep a coach because of their stumbling, fumbling, bumbling principal who has run off 2 head football coaches and several assistants, 1 basketball coach and several assistants. They are a relatively new High School(5years old). He likes to be called coach but evertime I ever saw him get involved with coaching in the last ten years it has been disastrous. Typical bubba.

Give PS a chance. He has been in the business as long as the football team. Both are new and learning. The football team is taking small steps trying to grow. It will take a while for them to be consistent. They are learning, but it takes time.

I know that you are a Gat-Pitt football fan. Coach Hammonds is a great coach and has a very well established program. He is a class act. I hope his team does well this year. He is deserving. I also hope that everyone remembers that PFHS is very young and consistency takes time.

  10. i know pigeon forge's D will be one of the best in the state because of their line backers. these guys are crazy good. they also have an amazing strong safety in me, john patty, i had to sit out all last year because i tore my acl but im sure everyone knows that if u dont believe me ask texas. heres an example of how good i am...i am the starting running back for pfhs(over brandon guidry who had over 1000 yards last year, he was moved to receiver) but besides that i start at kick/punt returner strong safety and of course running back. but besides me we have 6'3 250 (solid muscle) billy wilson at middle backer, 6'0 215 david gibson, and 6'0 215 dustin "cadilac" campbell...he got the nickname because his mom's cadilac was the only thing we could find for him when it came to max out. im positive that our D will average less than 7 points a game and at least 10 three and outs...... watch out boys pigeon forge is coming for blood this year....seriously

This following cliche is "as old as the hills", but it definitely applies to your statements. THERE IS NO I IN THE SPELLING OF TEAM. The attitude displayed in your statements has cost many other TEAMS in by gone years to collapse during the season, or even have a disastrous season from start to finish.

Heed these words of wisdom. If you are as good as you say that you are, you don't need to tell a breathing soul. You don't even need to think about it in your own mind because what you do on the FIELD will speak VOLUMES. Everyone watching or reading the newspaper will KNOW how good you are. In other words, keep your mouth SHUT and let your walkin' do the talkin'.

This kind of talk can destroy your team's entire season.

By the way, if I can't find texas to ask him, will arkansas or oklahoma know?

  11. Another point i would like to make is that there will always be athletes coming out of the pigeon forge feeder systems. When sevier county and gp were dominant in the 90's most of their big play guys were from pigeon forge. The other high schools with proven programs snatch the athletes from pigeon forge away. Sevier counties best player went to pigeon forge from k through the 8th grade but when the time came for him to go to high school he chose a proven sevier county program instead of the upstart pigeon forge program. If pigeon forge would have had a high school in the 80's and 90's than i believe we could have maybe won a gold football by now. If you would have combined gp's studs from pf and sevier counties studs from pigeon forge than we would have a proven program by now. Until we turn it around and start appealing to athletes from the other county schools we will just be good up front and average at skill positions. I know this is somewhat irrelevant to the topic but i thought i would just throw it out there.

The skill players will eventually come to football, but the success of the program will have to be in place first. PF has had some bad leadership (head coaches) in football since it's origin. Hopefully the new coach will know what he is doing! From what I hear it sounds like he does!

The proof is in the pudding. The skill players are playing sports at PF (baseball, basketball, soccer, etc.), but these sports are the ones that are successful, have good coaching, etc.

PF has had some decent skill players in the past in the football program. The program just did not have good leadership. That dumb offense they ran for three years was a joke! For example, two seasons ago they had a quarterback with a great arm but ran an offense that never used his arm. DUMB! DUMB! DUMB! Last year they had a quarterback that did not fit the offense either. AGAIN....BAD LEADERSHIP!

PF has the skill players and they will come to football, but I don't think that they will jump on board until they see consistency in the program!
