That was the final score but oz dominated the game through 3 quarters. 35 to 7 start of the 4th. So the 35 21 score is a little misleading. The oz rungame moved at will till they start to self destruct

Snapped the ball over our head 4 times in the first half which we havent done all year or its very close or possibly even tied going into the 4th. Once we fixed that OZ couldnt keep us from throwing the ball on em at all. We won the second half 14-7 once we got the nerves out and fixed the snap.

Cloudlands passing game isnt close to ours though and OZ shut our run game down  completely. Cloudland runs it better than we do and defends the run a bit better. Close game i think with CLand taking advantage of home field and winning a close low scoring game something like 16-14.

By that same standard it looks like Oakdale didn’t beat anyone with a winning record. The best record they won against was 4 win Cosby team that Unaka beat worse around the exact same time.

8 of our starting 11-12 guys were banged up good going into unaka game. Most of our guys dressed and played but we were probably 60% at best. That being said Unaka was still the better team just not by as much as the score said. In my opinion, Unaka is way more athletic than Oakdale has by far the better QB and plays better defense especially on the back end. Oakdale is a tad bit more physical up front and may have a slight edge in the running game. If they played each other id pick Unaka big at home and a close on the road.

Just a guess but I think  Oakdale could finish 3rd.  You didn't get to see the real Cloudland team and Unaka will be better than they were.

If Cloudland is Healthy they have a shot and so do we or Unaka in the 2 spot if were healthy and If oakdale is the 3, BUT  Im gonna say it will be

    1-Coalfield

    2- OZ

    3- Gback

    4-Harriman

Agree. Could give any team in Region 2 a tough game. Same goes for you guys if you can ever get healthy.

Our region will have a hard time winning a playoff game if Cloudland isnt healthy. JMO. We were down several(6) kids at Oakdale friday but even if we had them all it would have been tough. Theyre pretty good and they may not make the playoffs over there.

Big reason why there's a shortage:

$115 per Friday night game ...

3:30-5:30 .. Drive to game (you pay the gas)

5:30-7:00 .. Get dressed, pregame, talk to coaches, go thru all checklists for the game, check equipment

7:00-8:00 .. Kickoff and first half (get screamed and cursed at, run about a mile)

8:00-8:20 .. Halftime (rest, eat a bag of chips and a bottle of water if the school is nice enough to provide it)

8:20-9:30 .. 2nd half (get cursed and screamed at even worse, especially if the game is tight going down the stretch, run another mile)

9:30 -10:00 .. Leave the field with police as security, shower, change clothes, leave the school

10:00-10:15 .. Drive to the closest fast food joint because you're starving

10:15-10:45 .. wait in line and eventually scarf down a dry burger with fries

10:45-12:45 .. Drive home (you once again pay the gas)

Hopefully be in bed by 1:30 am ..

    3:30 - 12:30 is 9 hours ...

$115 for 9 hours equals $12.77 per hour

Oh yeah, take off $20 in gas ..

    $95 for 9 hours equals $10.50 per hour ..

(You've also spent $400 on equipment, officials pants, shirts, shoes, flags etc)

Any idea what a high school profits on a Friday night game ??? These officials are the guys you gotta have to make that money ... They do it because they love it .. not for the money ... While you are watching your kids play, they are away from their families .. Pay em .. they earn it .. and from what they have to go thru, they deserve it !!!!

I agree they should be paid more...however, some small schools largest gates will be 2-3 grand at most! makes it tough to pay em much more. TSSAA should chip in a bit to try to retain good officials.

Winning without those 2 speaks volumes  and it can also speak to the comp you were playing. I,m not picking on Oleeagle or Cosby, they just struggle to field a solid team. I also think Unaka will handle them pretty well.

Think you guys are in for a tough one next week, WG is not a team you can count a W.

We were down a few kids as well, wouldnt have made a huge difference i dont think though. #12 is a stud! wore us down over time. Two huge lineman mashing on us then trying too tackle that dude all night took its toll. We aren't bad at all right now. we have talent everywhere just not a lot of football guys. We have NO youth league and our Middle School program is just now starting to produce ball players. Years of kids playing their first ever football as freshman and sophomores has put us behind in the football IQ/attitude  department. We are on the way up i do believe though. We have got better every year for the last 3 seasons and participation is at an all time high. We won't be a pushover for any 1A schools outside of the top tier programs and they better come prepared for a tussle.

Do you think you can compete this year OleEagle. Cloudland is not the team they were last season but they still play Cloudland Football. They'll play hard and Physical.

We know they will be physical! Thats Cloudland football, has been forever. We are better than last year for sure. Had 9 of 11 starters last year who had never played. Got em all back with a years experience and a good spring and summer under their belt. It will be a good game friday I do believe.

Cloudland has alot of younger kids playing varsity but the freshman class is hurting really bad for athletes.  We'll have a tough 3 or 4 year stretch after next season.

You gonna make it down to Cosby Friday? Its gonna be a fun atmosphere on the Hill Friday night.

Every now and then deputy, dogtruth, fan88 will chip in.  For cland, it's just me and appvol.  A lot of people have come and gone through the years but ole king has stuck around.  In all honesty, I'm chomping at the bit for girls basketball season.  I'm a dad of girls and I still believe if a gold ball comes to cland, then the girls will be the ones to do it.  Very soon, the road to Murfreesboro will run through Oneida and roan mountain.  I'm sure I'm going to meet crow in person

I don't post much anymore but I keep an eye on you guys from time to time. Ole King needs to make his way off that mountain and come to Cosby and see us later this month. I have to wait til basketball season anymore to see pujo and uknoit.

PT says he's sure it's meniscus...ACL is good. Fought that knee and shoulder last few games....Get it fixed and be ready for a lil baseball Lol

I watched the game on tv. I was very proud of how Hampton represented region 1...tough hardnosed football , kids playing their guts out for each other and a large  passionate hometown football crowd followed em down. I know your proud of your boy. He showed everyone that a QB can be a FOOTBALL PLAYER and get his team to the big game. Loved his heart and determination and his teammates followed suit. Nothing to hang your heads about. Ive said for years Hampton has one of the best programs in the state year in year out. Westview is still sore I can promise you that. Win or lose when you play Hampton EVERYTHING hurts the next few days. Congrats again from Cosby!

Great game....hate to see officiating play such a big role. Whatever college gets the Johnson get is getting a steal and a stud.

officiating plays a role in every game good or bad ..its part of it. Got to move on learn from it  and get better. If NG is as good as advertised I think we proved we can play with anyone. Put this one behind us and get ready for Harriman.

  12. 6 hours ago, RodgerDodger32 said:

Exactly my thinking. NG bigs are athletic and can take you off the bounce. Cosby big can only turn one way and score and is a liability on defense. Johnson will have to have a big night for them to win. There are no categories I’d give an edge to Cosby over NG except maybe the Johnson kid. NG coaches will definitely have a plan in place though. With NG at home I’m taking them

    by 10+

My take from the first half...we are more athletic than NG but NG is bigger. I like our chances with a two point lead at the half but we better stay aggressive and out of foul trouble. Anybody’s game right now!

NG by 10 or more from what Ive seen. NG is to big and playing at home gives them a huge advantage.

We have a couple bigs that can play, and a couple of smaller kids who can play big. I think we can give NG all they want. If it was at Cosby I would be very confident we could get em. No one is bad at this point. Hampton was a very good team. Should be fun!

Is this pretty much the same boys as last years team. If so I think you'll be tough to beat at Cosby.  Agree about North Greene ,they look pretty tough to me.

We returned 3 starters from last years team but we look a good bit different. We will be tough to beat as long as we’re playing at Cosby. I think us Hampton and Hancock all have about the same chances to win the region and NG is the favorite.

You definitely don't want to go to Cosby.  Old24eagle is always beating people up outside the door and eagle3314 charges double for popcorn

LOL..I'm well beyond my "beating people up" age. I tried to beat up pujo and uknoit when they came to Cosby back in the fall but the worst I could do was get uknoit to work the chains and pujo had to sit next to  my skillet slinger!

Cosby is a tough place to come get a win this time of year...I think we are all chasing NG right now though. If both 1 seeds win out in the region where is the championship game played?

Hate to be this way but coalfield’s middle school team would win this game. Hancock will play their guts out but they just don’t have a whole lot to do it with. A lot of the times they play some 8th graders due to low numbers.

I believe Hancock is starting a couple 8th graders right now! You’re right they will play hard, they always do.

That was the most fun I ever had on here with you and eagle3314, Big blue lb36,  Jody Crow and cody blow :roflol:You guys could go toe to toe with the trash talk.  You all came to rm in 2006 and smacked us pretty good.  Got another win up here in 08 but you have to admit it, its hard to get wins up here my friend

Some of our proudest moments was beating y’all up there and beating Hampton in 08, because Beating Cloudland at home doesn’t happen much and we were the only region team to beat Hampton for many years running during that time.

Cosby has never been good at football

We had a stretch from 2005-2014 or 15 there that we were very solid and had 3-4 good teams. Playing 2A ball with 1A numbers the last 6 years at what’s traditionally a basketball school has hurt us bad with trying to get kids out to play and really buy in. The move back to 1A will be good for us especially if we can stay there for a while.

I agree BUT it isn’t gonna matter! Plus y’all got scheduled for Homecoming

Trust me theres no disrespect there scheduling them for Homecoming. This year has been crazy and we kinda just have went with whatever. Also the people who run homecoming for us schedule when they want to do it, They know nothing about whos good or bad nor do they care. Last year I think homecoming was HV.

  20. 2 minutes ago, uknoit2 said:

And I'm speaking of the "drive" to Cosby....Not the experience of a football game there...Just to be clear

We’re having homecoming and honoring a recently passed player , coach , and friend before the game. We’re planning on it being a good night with a good atmosphere and positive vibes no matter what. Make sure you come holler at me!

I knew it had to be something.  No way jellico should beat you that bad but we shouldn't have lost as bad as we did either.  It was 8-8 late in the 3rd and i witnessed the fight go out of our guys.  We only have a handful who do anything during the offseasons so it's expected when we play a physical team

We still could’ve beat em. Sounds odd but true. 16-0 at half and we were inside their 20 twice and came away with zero. They recovered two onside kicks on us too one that went 5 yards but they got the ball????

We had all the backups we had on the field with 3 minutes to go down 46-6 and they’re throwing it in the end zone with their starters then kicked another onside kick?

We could have beat em by 80 last year but we let off the gas in THE SECOND QUARTER and only won 50-6.

  22. 2 hours ago, THE KING said:

I love old eagle too but man I'm disappointed they got smacked by jellico

Jellico played well we didn’t plain and simple. One of those nights were a penalty or turnover stopped every drive we had and aided every drive they had. We had a two way starter transfer and 4 more two way players out last night too. On a team of 24 to start with that makes it tough. Been a rough year on the hill for sure but we will bounce back!
