  1. CONGRATS ANN !!! What a great opportunity for you and a great hire for siegel. Hate it that you won't be at Lipscomb this fall (REALLY HATE IT) but I know it was something you had to do. Good luck and I wish you all the best. Love you....

  2. Mullins signs with Tennessee

Ellen Mullins has committed to Tennessee. Marie is currently playing at Austin Peay. CONGRATS Ellen...... you would still look real good in purple /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> You know I love you !!!

  3. Well, the ceremony is likely over and tonite Kaycee Greens jersey and number was retired and the #10 will be put somewhere in the school never to be worn again by an active player. Kaycee has won many awards, won quite a few District championships, Was an all stater, was an All American and now its fitting that her number was retired but many of you will be able to see her if Lipscomb University plays in a venue close to you for she will be playing there next year or on the Nashville 1 Club if the team is playing at a site close to you. A very distinctive player with a distinctive style, Kaycee Green is a go to player and one many of you will like to watch if you haven't seen her play. Good Luck kaycee and the #10 I hope hangs in the rafters for all to remember and from all of the 7AAA schools who's heart you broke many times during the years, "We sure are glad you are leaving" but we wish you well in your college career.

Thank you PHargis for your very kind words. It was a total surprise to Kaycee and a very emotional night. Its been a great 4 years (actually 8 since my oldest was at CHS the 4 years before Kaycee). Now we get ready to move on to the next level and hopfully bigger and better things. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  4. Congratulations to the following players for being named PrepVolleyball.com High School All Americans.

    Kaycee Green - Cookeville

    Heather Parman - GPS

    Sam Serley - Independence

    Nicole Smith - Page

    Rebekah Smith - Hutchison

    Honorable Mention:

    Kayla Arnold - Greenbrier

    Alison Woods - Centennial

???To be a High School All-American, you must have made a massive impact on your high school team. "Massive" is subjective, but at a minimum requires that you be the best player on your team and one of the top 3-5 players in your state regardless of class, except for volleyball hotbeds like California, Texas, Indiana and Illinois, where you must be among the 10 best HIGH SCHOOL players regardless of class.??? PrepVolleyball.com

CONGRATS to all of them. This is a GREAT honor.

  5. According to PrepVolleyball the finalist from Tennessee were Heather Parman and Jasmine Brown (GPS), Kaycee Green (Cookeville), Bekah Smith (Hutchison), Sam Serley (Independence) and Alison Woods (Centenial). All great and qualified candidates. All should have great success at the next level. I believe most have signed or are close to making a decision to play Div I volleyball. Congrats !!!!!

  6. Congrats to siegel and Blackman for handling things as well as they did. To the TSSAA I truely hope you realize after this week that a high school gym is no place to hold a State Championship. A high school gym with 2 courts set up allows no room for fans to come and go. Teams playing on the first court at siegel had to stop their games to allow for fans from the 2nd court to file out when they were done playing. Talk about a momentum buster. Officials were constantly having to play traffic cops instead of concentrating on their job as line judge. There was barely enough room for players to step back and serve let alone jump serve, then to have the fans right on your back, lets add a little more stress to these players. One other probelm I felt was unfair. Div II played their championship games at the same time, while AA and AAA had the luxury of playing on center court. It is an unfair advantage to Div II players to have had to play their Championship games in such close quarters -- walls less than five feet from the court, screaming fans right on top of you. Maybe they enjoyed it but I think they deserved better. Congrats to ALL of the participants of this years State Championships. TSSAA I truely hope that some day you realize that volleyball should not be teated like your forgotten stepchild, the players, coaches and fans deserve better than what you gave them this year...... For 2009 why don't you start looking at Lipscomb and Belmont now, don't wait till a month before next years tournament to start planning the tournament.

siegel coaches, players, parents and all other volunteers -- Thank you, you done good!

  7. GPS did a nice job today of beating a nice ECS team. The game scores were like 25-19, 25-15, 25-17. ECS and GPS both have a lot to be proud of. ECS is very young and will be a force in DII-A next year. Hope we make the First round match of Hutchinson vs GPS. We have other Black and Blue games to watch and cheer at. Wonder who the other team will be at State. St Ben or Ensworth. Good luck to all and Go Bucs, and Lion's as well.

CONGRATS GPS. Look forward to seeing you play again in the Boro. You have such a gifted team and they are so much fun to watch.

  8. What do you expect? Greenbrier pushes Kayla Arnold and nobody else. She gets all of the sets, and the offense is run to make her a star. Who has Greenbrier beat this year? Anyone that they shouldn't beat. Smith from Page is twice the player that Arnold is and she is only a junior.

Greenbrier fans on this board (That is you Mr. Arnold) openly talk that Greenbrier better win it all this year because when Kayla is gone Greenbriers run is over. Why act surprised that only certain girls get recognized? How many sets does she get, 2/3's. Then if she miss hits a ball what does the coach say, give her a better set?

Page and Greenbrier play first round of the tournament. Page wins because Smith is better than Arnold, and that is not going to be an upset.

BruinBabe I don't know who you are (and I don't have a dog in this fight) but you are CRAZY. FYI Mr Arnold has NEVER posted on here, 5Sport is NOT Mr Arnold. Kayla is not the only star on the Greenbrier team. I have seen them play and all the athletes on this team are VERY gifted. Kayla's sister Kaysi, Nina and Riley all are very capapble of putting the ball down with force. I don't think there is one rotation that they do not have a player on the front row that can finish. I am assuming you are from the "Wood" let me tell you - your lovely team is the one that will have difficulty in the boro this year. If you are from the "Wood" I also don't understand why Greenbrier is tearing you up so much. You won't even have to try to beat them. Maybe your just upset that Greenbrier is getting more publicity on Coach T than your team of choice. IMO Greenbrier is probably under a lot of pressure to repeat as State Champs but they are very capable of getting the job done. Good luck to Greenbrier and ALL the teams that have made it to the Boro, including the "Wood"

  9. Congrats Lady Cavs. Kaycee, Haley, Savannah, Samantha, Tori, Selena, Kayla, Cody, Taylor, Julie, Tat, Emily, Courtney, Coach Brooks, Coach Cherry, and Coach Cox you are just awesome. I am soooooo proud of each and every one of you. You could not have made it this far without everyone involved. Relax, play your game and by all means HAVE FUN !!!!!!! Enjoy the ride you deserve it.

As usual it was a battle between two great teams. CONGRATS Lady Cavs, keep up the good work, get ready for Regions. One step closer to your final goal. Keep pushing......

  12. First round of 7-AAA is about over. Cookeville defeated Warren Co 3-0, Siegel defeated White Co 3-0, Lebanon defeated Oakland 3-1, Blackman defeated Riverdale 3-0. The All-District teams were announced tonight so that all the teams would be represented instead of waiting to the championship night when only two teams would be there. Sorry to say I don't have a complete list but I will list who I remember:

MVP - Kaycee Green - Cookeville

  14. GREAT TOURNAMENT. Great competition, great hosts, but VERY long day. Cookeville did have a very good tournament, beating some of the top teams in the state. Keep up the good work girls, your season is just starting.

I try very hard to stay positive on here but I must say there was one thing this weekend that really disappointed me. Brentwood has a long history and tradition of winning and until this weekend I respected that. In the eight years I have been watching Tennessee high school volleyball I don't think Cookeville has ever beaten a Brentwood team until yesterday. Our girls played very hard and with a lot of heart and beat Brentwood in 2. Needless to say they were excited. After the game their Head Coach would not shake the hand of one of our players (somebody tell me how ADULT is that???) and then one of their parents made a comment like " have you all never won a game before?" IMO this was so uncalled for. Yes the team and parents were excited about the win and they had a right to be. If the Brentwood team has such "CLASS" then I suggest you show it at all times even when you lose.

Thank you Blackman and Siegel for hosting such a great event. We enjoyed it. A BIG CONGRATS to Father Ryan for winning it all. You played great and earned it.

  15. It was senior night tonight at Cookeville and Cookeville wins against Lebanon 3-0. Congrats to all six seniors, you have had a GREAT regular season. Now its time to get down to business. Good Luck to all 7-AAA teams. We will see you in "OUR HOUSE" next week.

  16. Not taking away from the fact that Cookeville is playing great vb which they did against us on Tuesday and Siegel has performed well all season. All the teams in this district have two games left and if either of these two teams drop a match you won't have to worry about the tiebreaker. I believe Oakland has the upperhand for third and there is a battle for fourth, fifth and sixth. I wonder what teams Cookeville and Siegel don't want to see in the second round given they take care of their first round business.

Who does Cookeville and Siegel have left in District play next week?

Cookeville plays at Blackman on Tues then hosts Lebanon on Thursday. Believe you me they are NOT assuming anything as far as their finish in the district. They are taking it one game at a time and to quote Coach Brooks "You remember what 14-0 got us last year". Blackman, Lebanon, Oakland and Riverdale are all capable of beating Cookeville or Siegel on any given night. Remember the only thing you get out of regular district schedule is your seed for the district tournament. The tournament is what counts - you only move on from there. 7AAA has always been a battle come tournament time and this year will be no different.

  17. Cookeville does have 6 wonderful seniors. They will celebrate senior night next Thursday when they play Lebanon. Congrats on a great season so far to seniors: Samantha Mayberry (setter), Selena Mullinax (DS), Tori Macke (Libero), Haley Fitzpatrick (MB), Emily Hannah (OH - unfortuantely had a season ending knee injury before the season even got started /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ) and Kaycee Green (OH). Keep pushing and never stop BELIEVING !!!

  18. Looking forward to seeing you at the Mid-Tenn Classic, it's been a long time /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

It will be good to see you too. Looks like WC has been getting the job done this year. Congrats. See you next weekend.

It appears that Cookeville is really cooking. I believe a little bird stew is to their liking. What kind of bird, why Seagull of course. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    I LOVE IT !!! And might I say it was quite tasty /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

  19. BIG 7AAA match this week Cookeville vs siegel. Cookeville wins 3-1. Always a great match between these two schools. I think scores were 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22. Cookeville played great, they wanted it bad, they really hated losing in 5 at siegel. Kaycee Green 25 kills, great blocking by Haley Fitzpatrick and Savannah Skimmyhorn, Kayla Oliphant stepped up at setter and played an AWSOME game. CONGRATS LADY CAVS !!!! 2 more regular district games then game on at districts. Good luck to EVERYONE this next two weeks. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
