  1. I've seen both of SCs TV games and have not been impressed with them especially given the multiple D1 athletes. It makes me wonder why Packer chose the show 3 SC games this year. I'm taking Motown by 14

Agreed 100%. The sum definitely doesn't equal the parts.

I know what I believe is the problem but I'll refrain so as not to rile up any of the SC band parents that are lurking. Gonna be some really lean years coming up I'm afraid as this staff is going to have a lot less talent to work with then they've had the previous couple of seasons.

  2. You saw us in a loss. What makes you think we have superior line play on both sides? Although I think the score in the Farragut game is misleading. We make a few plays earlier in that game it's a different story. I'll take 2 Bears fans picking against them, though lol

You definitly had your chances against the Ads for sure. In fact, it looked like you were going to blow them out the first quarter. Got to give Farragut credit for gutting out the win.

We are young in the O line and Deuce has been under constant pressure against the better defenses we've played. From what I saw OR should be the best defensive line we've seen so far.

As far as our defense, DB ran the QB option read from the 2nd quarter on against us and we couldn't stop it. That puts a lot of pressure on our offense to keep up and play flawlessly. OR has more weapons then DB and our best lineman is out so I don't see how we're going to get enough stops to win. Hope I'm wrong but that's the way I see it playing out.

The better defense always wins these type of games and that aint SC despite what band parents like "Govbears89" say

  3. Obviously have seen SC several times and also the OR/Farragut game. Wildcats have superior line play on both sides of the ball and the better defense. SC will be able to pass some but just like DB the defense will struggle to get stops which puts too much pressure on our offense. OR by two TD's

  4. First things first. Congrats to SD. They were the hungrier, better prepared team and they deserved the victory. Rollins is a warrior. Good luck in the playoffs.

Now on to SC. Not sure why everyone is so surprised by their performance last night. That's the exact same way they've played all year. The Bears have got some dark days coming with this coaching staff. If this is the best they can do with a division 1 QB and an experienced senior laden team how bad is it going to get when they're all gone.

  5. Passing or lack there of decides this game.

Just don't think SD will be able to slow our passing attack down enough to beat us. No one else not named Maryville has been able to this year (though we've shot ourselves in the foot plenty with dumb mistakes and penalties). Plus I don't believe they will be able to pass enough themselves to take advantage of our poor secondary. Doesn't help neither that Jocquez Bruce is not 100%. Noticeable limp last week against East.

  6. Agreed. Bears better learn to cover the middle of the field or we'll have more losses before we play SD

If we were playing competent teams I would agree with you. However we are not. Outside of SD the rest are just plain bad and should pose no real threat. If we lose to any of them then the Lingenfelter/co-rookie coordinators experiment can officially be deemed a failure.

  7. WELL...ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKIN IN....THE TEAM AS A WHOLE IS BALANCED...BUT THE DEFENSE IS STANDING OUT A LITTLE MORE SO FAR THAN IN THE PAST IMO...LET'S SEE IF THIS GAME ENDS UP IN A SHOOTOUT.......AND THAT WILL TELL YOU ABOUT THE DEFENSE....

This will not be a shootout. At least not on SC's part. Maryville never has had any trouble with our style of offense in the past and their defense this year is just as good (especially their front 7) if not better then previously.

  8. Congrats to DB............once again. They played better and were better coached.

In the grand scheme of things all this loss did was really just shorten our post season by a game. Maryville will just get to beat the stuffing out of us a round earlier is all.

  9. Well I have dropped that from my program. There was a certain DB "fan" that got so upset over the poll that he quit posting on Coach T.

and the poll always looked like this:

    The WaCoJaCo 100% correct 6A TOP 10

    1) MARYVILLE

    2) first loser

    3) doesn't matter

    4) who cares

    5) no hope

    6) over by halftime

    7) practice drill

    8) playoff fodder

    9) over before it started

    10) tackling dummy

    Fixed it for ya

  10. If this is a normal SC offensive line, getting a pass rush with the front four will not be an easy task. That leaves DB with picking it's poison .I just don't think we can sit back and try to cover unless we want to give up 400 in the air. When you do bring the house it's a 50/50 at best. Not trying to be smart but I'd say the best defense is keeping SC's offense on the bench and manage the clock to our advantage '' if we can ".

To be fair to Clark, I have only seen one team be able to consistently slow or stop our passing attack and they reside in blount county. Honestly, most high school coaches just can't teach their players to properly play the secondary against a good passing offense. DB does just about as well anybody with their blitzing strategy. It's worked pretty well at times in the past and will again tonight if our coordinator and line are not up to the task.

  11. Your receivers will be running wide open all night. DB hangs their pass defense hopes on its pass rush. Hoping to put pressure on the quarterback and force him to make a bad throw to a wide open and out of position defensive back.

    A coach Clark staple

Deuce is not the most mobile QB we've ever had so it will be up to our offensive line and coordinator to give him enough time to throw. Hopefully he and the receivers are a little more in sync than last week.

  12. Thunderstorms this afternoon, clearing out early evening. Gonna be a good game, hope it stays clear for it

Hope you're right but that's not what the two local weather stations are calling for. Their hourly forecast has the most severe weather moving through between 6-8. However we all know you can bet the house on a weather, gobears86 and the late, great beano cook prognostication.

  13. Well looks as if dolly might wanta bring a waterslide for everyone to enjoy because with the rain that looks to be coming it could be mighty slick and could run into a delay...A running game will be key and DB has been doing very well at stopping the run!!

Yea sounds like there is the potential for some nasty storms according to the weather folks. Fortunately, they're

about as accurate with their predictions as gobears89 is with his.

  14. Have seen both teams play - DB/Farragut and SC/ME

DB looks to be more balanced offensively than past seasons. Have their usual stable of good running backs but now seem much more capable passing the ball. Kicker is a real weapon too with a big leg. Defense looks solid with the exception of the secondary. Let's just say If the Farragut QB had been more on target I don't think the Tribe would have gotten that win.

SC is still running the no huddle spread offense but with a renewed emphasis on running the ball. Don't know if it's to give the defense a little more rest this year or if they just don't have the quick strike capabilities as previous teams. Outside of Matthews it looks like we are a little short on dynamic playmakers at the skill positions. Maybe getting Bailey back (the fastest player on the team) from his two game suspension will help with that some. As far as Deuce, he is a solid QB but to be honest he is no better looking to me then our previous QB's. Defense is running a new 3/4 scheme and looks to be improved but haven't faced an offense like DB will bring. Finally, we've got to eliminate the stupid mistakes or we will get hammered. Two blocked field goals and four personal foul penalties will get you beat against better competition.

  15. What in the name of Devrin Young has happened to Bearden!?!?!?!?

Reading all this gloom and doom about Bearden puts a little bit of a damper on the season opener. Was really hoping they would rebound from an unusually bad '13 season to give some stiffer competition. Sounds like they're so down now that we could make them a honorary member of the IMAC.

That DB/Farragut game down the road sounds like a much more intriguing matchup to possibly take in

  16. Really surprised that long time offensive coordinator Tony Linginfelter is not getting a mention as a possible replacement. Maybe he just likes being in the background? Meadows would be a really good hire but he scares me with his nomadic coaching history. Jonathan Brewer may turn out to be a good head coach but as a young coach he is obviously a much bigger gamble.
