  1. He let them play most of the 1st half. The previous week they had a week off. They only ran 11 plays in the 1st half on offense. One pass was thrown in the entire 2nd half. Bottom line is that they did not run up the score. They tried to keep the score as low as possible and they tried to shorten the game as much as possible. I was at the game and I saw Lindsey, Warren, Lanxter, and others on the sidelines in the 2nd quarter and that is a fact.
  2. Shiverdecker does not start. And 5 of those are defensive TD's
  3. Nonetheless there is a TN commitment on their team, a Florida State commitment on their team and a Louisville commitment (with more to come). You can't be a player until you have committed. Why would traditional national powerhouses in football recruit these guys if they were not that good?? There are teams in 1A that can beat a 5A team. Just because a school is a higher classification doesn't mean that they are necessarily the best. You ask how good 2A is???? Well it's only speculation. However I do know that in East Tennessee at a small high school (400 students), there are big time college football programs that are visiting players. This includes seniors, juniors, and sophomores. Huntingdon, Loudon, and Westview are all respectable opponents in any classification. You can't sit there and speculate what would happen b/c it's only speculation. Alcoa is hitting full stride and has been since McCallie. Im not sure it matters who they face at this point. Oh yeah and next year they will not be as good but they should go real far in 2A again. Why would Bowden go outside the state of Florida to get a TE???? Warren must be something special and he could be the best all around high school player that has come out of the Knoxville area. Don't be surprised to see Warren and Lindsey in the NFL one day.
  4. Any Maryville-Alcoa game???? This year's maybe but if I am correct Alcoa has beaten Maryville more than any other school. So to say ANY game would be incorrect
  5. beaten yes and manhandled but not at their best (no Brandon Warren). plus no one in 2A has beaten them since 2003 in the semis and that was Lipscomb who is now in 3A. so Alcoa's streak against current 2A teams goes back even further. Riverdale 5A Maryville 4A Fulton 3A Alcoa 2A Jo Byrnes 1A
  6. I think this is a debate that has no definite answer. You can look and see if anyone is a commitment to any university and compare that way but there are too many variables in this discussion. Competition is not always the same and plus many of the backs don't even play a whole game (b/c of a blowout). For example, last year Lindsey (Alcoa) was chasing the state TD record for one season, yet he did not play the 4th quarter of the majority of Alcoa's games. I'm sure there are other examples like this one. I think it would be hard to argue against Lindsey since he will be playing with the Big Orange next year but I admit I am a little biased. I've seen a couple of his runs this year; especially against McCallie he was pretty darn good. I've seen him score TD's on plays that he didn't have any business even getting out of the backfield. Plus, when he needs to he can block pretty well on pass protection which is a big plus for any college team to look at. He's not the fastest back but he is a physical back who is going to pound on the defense for 4 quarters. Tallent is very good; very tough. He's the type of back you can count on getting you the short yards if you need them. After the season this question would be easier to answer.
  7. For myself its kinda like having a brother. I can poke fun of him and wrestle with him, but if someone else does it you better watch out. I think the Alcoa/Maryville thing is similar to that. Maryville can get after Alcoa and Alcoa can get after Maryville, but if someone else does it you better watch out. Agreed the social scene is for another discussion and the comparison should not be made. Both towns are seeing an increase in population and commercial activity. Just happens that Maryville has historically been the larger city. First class people are in both cities and unfortunately both places have their share of not so good people as well (just like everyone else).
  8. Not sure what you mean by the name change. Sounds like someone has struck a nerve. I'm kinda new to all of this. I heard about the website through a friend. So you need to take that first comment back. If you have as you say, given Alcoa much credit then good for you. I see Alcoa winning as well and I think the only team that can stop Maryville is Maryville.
  9. I am an Alcoa fan. I pull for Alcoa as well as Maryville. I graduated high school from Alcoa but I do try to be objective. I guess I get a little irritated when people undermine them just b/c they are a 2A school. They still have talent and skill and can compete with the bigger schools. Historically that has been the case. It just doesn't make sense to me, to say that Alcoa is not that good when they have as many players as they do who are going to be playing at the next level. I wish Maryville and Alcoa people could understand what an awesome pool of talent there is on both teams and set jealousy aside. I mean these teams have combined for 14 state championships!! It's amazing and more are probably coming. Maryville has been dominant in 4A and Alcoa has been dominant in 2A. Its my opinion that b/c of these 2 schools, Blount County is the heart of TN high school football. I just wished we could both brag about that. As for the Central comments. I was just trying to find some info on the game. I had been told Central missed the opportunity to win. Just trying to verify it or find out the truth. GO REBS and TORNADOES
  10. Granted their region is not the best but give them credit for WINNING. Why do you pick on a small school?????????? They play with what they have and they do a great job. You say they are not that great, well you also can't deny that they have went out of their classification and beat some pretty good teams. Credit Alcoa for being willing to play larger schools, private schools, and out of state schools. Geesh, get off their backs. They may be a 2A school but that doesn't mean they have a lack of ability; all it means is that there are other teams who have more players than they do. I will say that their players look pretty good and a lot of college coaches think so as well. I guess it doesn't matter that you think they are not that great. Hmmm...... lets see should we consider your opinion or Philip Fulmer's or Bobby Bowden's or how bout Frank Beamer's??????
  11. Unfair character judgment. I know players who have played under Meadows from 3 different schools and all of them think the world of him. Say what you want about Meadows but everywhere he goes, he turns the program around. WB is probably the hardest challenge for him. The one criticism that I have of Meadows is that he has not stayed to build a consistent program at a particular school. It would be nice to see what he can do if he sticks around at WB for 5-10 years.
  12. Loudon is a physical team and should win this one. CAK is going to have to stop the run or it will be a long night. Loudon is a tough team; a solid team. Only Alcoa is better in their region. Although I think CAK has the ability to pull of the win. Loudon's task will be covering CAK's passing game. I think the winner will be determined between CAK's defensive line and Loudon's offensive line. Loudon 27 CAK 21
  13. it was 42-0 when the starters came out. alcoa received the kickoff in the 2nd half, scored and then substituted
