I agree coffee will have a few kids show up throughout the year that might be ready time region tournament rolls around. The main teams in the region with a real shot at the region title this year are Oakland, Warren Co., Tullahoma, Blackman. Each team has a few good wrestlers coming back to the mat this year. I don't always agree with the admiral, but on this topic he is right on target. I happen to be a football assistant and head wrestling coach in tennessee and I have had great success getting football players on the mat. I believe it is all in the relationship that you build with your athletes. I can be a tough old cuss on the football field or wrestling mat, but when your kids respect because you generally care about your kids on and off the field they will play for you. I don't get as many football players out as I may want, but I tend to get 12-15 each year which is better than not getting them at all. Now this can be spoiled if you have a head football coach that will push his kids away from other sports than football. I am fortunate to have a head football coach that encourages his players to play as many sports as they can during their high school career. I believe that wrestling makes better football players no doubt. I am not going to go through all the specifics, but those who are around the sport of wrestling know that wrestling can help kids improve in most sports. I will finish my statement by saying I still can't believe me and rigger are on the same side of an argument, but he is right.
