Well it seems that people above seeds 5-8 in our bracket are not getting respect from the others rated above us. Tell me about Sequoyah.
They are HUGE on the line! HUGE! Mobile QB, runs better than he throws. They spread it out.
Don't eat on the way, eat at the "chop house" tent in the North endzone,,, bbq and fried potatoes with onions and smoked sausage.....oh my.
-
I don't know much about the Irish but I'd say they just got a 1 way ticket to the semis for a very cheap price.
Polk beat Notre Dame in week 7....
-
Props to the Pounders, the kids really stepped up for their coach. To me this was a surprise, looks like my Chiefs might get a chance see you guys. Good luck in the playoffs.
All I can say is WOW, good job pounders..... Dumdum, that projected playoff placement looks pretty good for them Chiefs!
-
You are clueless. White house beat us, but they were clearly evenly matched turnovers killed us.
Clueless is stating that you were "evenly matched", but turnovers killed you.... So you turned it over more than the other team...? The other team was better at one of the most important fundamentals of the game?....
That doesn't sound very evenly matched..

I agree. My son plays for ND and I love his attitude. I was discussing this playoff scenario with him tonight (he had no idea). He said, "I can't believe someone would not try to win a game intentionally" (which is a little naive, people do that at all levels to get a better seed, draft pick, etc.) What he said next made me the proudest. He said, "we have to beat Upperman to get out of our Quad - might as well beat them sooner than later". This is not my attempt at trash talking nor am I saying ND wins the quad but gosh dang I sure like his attitude.
You may want to have him checked for a concussion, he seems to have short term memory loss..... specifically week 7...
Good luck with Grundy..... and then possibly Sequatchie....
-
Hey Murphy will the game be on radio and if so can I pick it up on the internet? Thanks from A Pounder. PFL.
CHARLIE MURPHY IS NOT A McMINN CENTRAL FAN..... but I think they do broadcast, not sure how far it reaches... or what station it is, or if it's sent over the www.
-
Thanks LCM, I was laughing pretty hard picturing a child of mine wearing that powder blue. Here's my opinion of Chatt central based on what I saw week 1.
Apparently when Polk played them, it was their #1 guy that got hurt very early, so he may be back.
But they don't have anything that the Chargers defense can't handle. They weren't able to throw the ball very well and when they did, they weren't able to catch it very well.
They would have one good play, then two bad ones. I guess if the team that beat Marion shows up, it could be interesting.
And for the Pounder fans, the Chargers will have one of, if not the best, defenses you have faced..... since Polk. And they have a very good offensive backfield, but they can't throw very well either!
-
All Murphy wants to do is start trouble. He is the typical never was and never will be. Best of luck to both teams.
Start trouble? I'm just passing along the things you, fish, and others have been saying on the other threads. .
And i promise you, I am atypical!

Agree with dd, MC should win by a couple Td's. from what them Purple Pounder fans are saying, they've pretty much hung it up...(I'm sure that will get some response)
-
They both have 5 quality opponents, and both have potential for 6, East Ridge and WHH.Interesting. So how would they win the tie breaker to replace ND at the 3 seed (if this does happen) and they both have 7-3 records?
Westmoreland has 3 quality wins to ND's 2.
-
Interesting, wow. Thanks Charlie!
It looks like we might get an ND Polk rematch. That would be an interesting game
If things play out as predicted in week 10, a 2nd round rematch would be a possibility, but both teams have to take care of week 10 and week 11 before they consider that.
-
Well, I guess Loudon wins by 2 TD's because I seriously doubt there will be much deviation from what Polk has done in the previous 9 games this season!
-
Polk should win this game. With that being said, if the play calling doesn't improve, Loudon will win by 2 TD's. As a die-hard Polk fan, they have became way too predictable with what they are running.
Well it was a good run while it lasted... Polk has become predictable after 14 years, 5 consecutive District Championships, 19 consecutive district wins, and a 108-48 overall record....
-
I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about this
If Grundy beat Notre Dame, Notre Dame is still runner up, and 3 seed, but Grundy would move to 6 seed and bump Sequatchie and Smith down to 7 and 8, respectively.
Now if Sequatchie were to beat Signal, that opens a can! If Notre Dame won, they would be District champs, but probably still be a 3 seed.
If Sequatchie wins and Grundy wins, Sequatchie becomes the District champ, Signal is runner up, and ND would fall to a 6 seed............ I think... That one made my head hurt.

Gerry, what did you come up with on Fairley if they lose?
With the scenarios that Gerry has laid out, I think at 4-6 they could be the last wildcard qualifier. I have them with 5 quality opponents and 1 victory over a quality opponent. It may come down to the 4th tiebreaker (victories by opponents) between them and York, who I also have at 4 victories, 5 quality opponents, and 1 victory over a quality opponent.
This would move Fairley to the 8th seed in Quad 4, @ Lewis Co
-
I think he meant who, not how.
Okay, that makes sense.
-
Central would be 4-6 with 6 opponents at 50% wins if they lose Friday. 7 if McMinn Co. wins Friday as well.
McMinn County plays Ooltewah.........
Like I said, McMinn Central will have 5 opponents with 50% wins......
-
i also agree that the "experts" on this board are in no position to call a team good or bad based on how they played.
So whether a team is good or bad should not be based on how they play?
What should it be based on, how pretty their uniforms are? How good they do pre-game warm-ups? .... Or in this case reputation?

Alcoa's JV Schedule Quad
1 Alcoa 10-0
8 Johnson Co. 4-6
4 Sullivan North 6-4
5 Pigeon Forge 5-5
3 Chuckey-Doak 7-3
6 McMinn Central 5-5
2 Gatlinburg-Pittman 8-2
7 CAK 4-6
Things to watch for in this quad
- McMinn Central would drop to the 8 seed if they do not win their week 10 game
Gerry, Great work, if you have time, please review this scenario....
If McMinn Central loses they would be 4-6 with 5 opponents at 50% wins and no victories over said teams.
Could York replace them in the playoffs with 4 wins, 5 opponents at 50%, and 1 victory over a 50% opponent (Oliver Springs)?
Would this move Polk County to Quad 1?
-
Who would be favored in the McMinn centr game vs Chatt Cen
McMinn Central at home would be. And McCentral probably needs 5 wins to get in, since they only have 5 quality opponents
-
It is almost officially playoff time, this time next week we will be discussing the actual matchups. We have a lot of things that could change between now. Later this weekend I will have some scenarios up and teams to watch, teams like CAK and Tyner could throw a wrench in the brackets. But here is the current playoff bracket if it ended after week 9.
Quad 1
1 Alcoa
8 West Greene
4 Pigeon Forge
5 Sullivan North
3 Chuckey Doak
6 Happy Valley
2 Gatlnburg-Pittman
7 McMinn Central
Quad 2
1 Upperman
8 York Institute
4 Cascade
5 Sequatchie Co.
3 Notre Dame
6 Smith Co.
2 Polk Co.
7 Grundy Co.
Quad 3
1 CPA
8 White-House Heritage
4 Westmoreland
5 East Nashville
3 Lipscomb
6 Harpeth
2 Fairview
7 East Hickman
Quad 4
1 Lewis Co.
8 Fairley
4 Manassas
5 Camden
3 Hickman Co.
6 South Gibson
2 Westview
7 JCM
CAK should handle Kingston relatively easy. And be the top 4 win team, with 8? Quality opponents. That pushes McCentral back to quad 2 , if they beat Chatt. Central.
I think the Tyner v Red Bank game is a coin flip.

Congrats to the CHIEFS!Great game by the Chiefs!! Out played and out coached Clinton tonight. See you next year in Madisonville.
And dragon, write this down.... When you travel to madisonville next season, save room for some fried potatoes...... You're welcome!
-
Some of the Polk fans may still be in the westbound traffic on 24.Thought Polk would bring more fans like the last two times they came here but couldn't have asked for a better game. Polk is really good. SP will be beat up for weeks after tonight
But it was well worth the inconvenience..... Even if it wasn't the outcome I was pulling for. To see two groups of young men leave it all on the field is what HS football is about.
Good luck to you guys the rest of the way, beat the purple out of Mary Ann.
-
Great game on both sides. Thats why I paid the admission to see a good one!
Congrats to the Pirates, good luck the rest of the way...get another gold ball. Congrats to Grider too!
Ps... Please upgrade the bathrooms....!

To comment on a few subjects here....
Tyner is not an ordinary 4 win team, Charlie is a fan, but their final few games haven't been against the best competition. I say they beat Smith but I have no idea how legit Upperman is...
Polk should beat Sequatchie, but one never knows in the playoffs.
As for private school thats playing with the publics.. Y'all might want to beat Cascade first, then you might get that rematch that you are so excited about.
As for week 7 game. Polk won the game, even when they were out coached, out hit, out blocked, out run, out dressed, surely out paid, out everything by this juggernaut of a team.
Regardless, whoever comes out of quad 2, wins a one way trip to Alcoa.
