These are just those who attended college in Tn and played at least some games in the NBA. There were a lot who played in the ABA from TN.

Runrdad, this is a great list you compiled here. Where do we stand as far as the Tennessee High School which produced the most NBA players? Does anyone know?

  2. Tigersteve44...I use to watch a lot of memphis state basketball on TV and even went to a few games. Were you the guy that always sat in the student section and wore a white jersey? Seems like it had #44 on it.

VolunteerGeneral, I received your message. It's been awhile since I logged into the site. No, I'm not the guy you are thinking of. However, I was in the student section alot between 1981 and 1986. Sorry, for the long delay in the reply. I hope everything is well in Jackson.

  3. Goodpasture lost the quarter 3-2... :D The only way Goodpasture had a chance of winning was to play zone and hope for a run at the end,and it didnt work...

I thought I would never see a Memphis team hold the ball...

Congrats to Mitchell on the win.....

You don't see much Memphis basketball. Wooddale was known to do this throughout the entire season three years ago. This has been done many times if a team is in a zone and the winning team wants to pull them out of it. I was a high school basketball statistician from 1976 to 1979. I have attended high school basketball games since. Yes, many Memphis teams like to play the uptempo game because of the type of athletic talent available in the city and the kids like to play that style. But there are many teams that will slow it down in district 16 and 15. Fairley is a prime example. Although thay have the talent to play uptempo, Coach Ford perfers a slower half court game.

Mitchell was successful last night because of the popular sterotype that Memphis basketball is not well coached and is always uptempo. Don't believe the hype. Take a look at the past state championships won by Memphis teams and the style they played. If you don't know that then you haven't attended many state championship games.

  4. I agree Bolivar should be favored because they are the defending champs. However, the coach at Mitchell, whom everyone says can't coach, has a state championship ring. (He won it with a Kingsbury team that only loss one game.) A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then? There is another nut out there!

It looks like that blind squirrel is finding that nut! :D

  5. Stop hating on Whitney Houston. She DOES have a 4.0 GPA and is a sweet, sweet kid. You guys have a great team and are state runner-ups and you should be proud of that...talking bad about Houston is not going to change that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see anyone on this board insulting your star player, Gwen Delk, and anyone with any class wouldn't do that. Who cares about what you doubt...Whitney doesn't have to prove anything to you...WHO ARE YOU!!? You're not anyone in regards to her future or success. As an English minor with a college degree, I could judge you based on your post and say that you are a moron and are not intelligent since you used clauses in your entire post. However, that would be extremely petty, irrelevant and make it seem as though I'm just looking for something, ANYTHING, to nitpick and hate on you about because you have something that I wish I had or some quality that I desire, but lack. Who cares?! Point is, I'm no better than you are and you are no better than Whitney Houston or anyone else. Get over yourself...

Well said Carmel, I couldn't agree more. :)

  6. Ok I want to say something about this game. I haven't see Greenville play but I've seen Hamilton play. Frankly I don't care who wins because I'd like to see RE win since they are in our district. All I hear from the Ghs people is Wiggins this and Wiggins that. Do ya'll have other players to play with him??? Hamilton is a very good team and they are deep. One thing i'll say is they try to dunk way to much. I will say that the only way Ghs has a chance is if they have pretty good gaurd play. The only reason I say this is because of Hamiltons guard size. They are tall and long. If you have good enough guards to break their press then yes you have a chance. Also i think if Ghs will make Hamilton work on "D" then i think your chances increase even more. They do not want to play "D". To tell you the truth their big guys didn't impress me much and the reason i say that is because when i saw them play it was against an undersized Melrose team. For the most the HHS guards are what killed Melrose. I just hope Ghs has more than just Wiggins to play with HHS. Good Luck Greenville and Hamilton. I will make a prediction since that is what was asked. Just going by the way ya'll talk about Ghs, I will say Hamilton by 10. I think ya'll will play them close but they will pull away later in the game.

One last thing to the Ghs fans. Ya'll keep saying that rankings mean nothing and i'm not saying this to talk trash or start anything. One other thing that does not mean anything is looking at scores from who hamilton has played and comparing them to other teams. Looking at that doesn't tell you anything either. Just bring your A game Thursday and you'll make it respectful and never know could pull it off.

Oh come on Coach! Hamilton doesn't like to play defense???? You based this on one game against Melrose. Ok. I watched them play JCM. Let's ask their coach and players if they like to play defense. Lastly, Hamilton likes to dunk. This has been going on for 20 years. This is a bad thing if they miss the dunk or get called on a charge. In the JCM game this wasn't the case. If Bartlett had the players with the same ability, you would be dunking also. It will be Hamilton and R/E in the finals. I predict a R/E win for the gold ball. B)

By the way, the last time we chatted didn't you predict that R/E will finish fourth in the district tourney? So much for that. Coaching without tallent will get you a little better than .500.

  7. I personally would rather see Hamilton win that way Siegel can play them and we can prove that Hamilton is all hype and that they are not the best team in the state sure theyve had a great season but all great things come to an end

Didn't Siegel lose to Ridgeway last year? Have they gotten significantly better? Also, don't they possibly play R/E before getting to Hamilton?

To lose by 12 points to the #6 ranked team in the country on their own home court is nothing to be ashamed of. It`s clear that JCM came to play. Awesome season for the Cougars!!! We are proud of you. :thumb:

I was at the game. Hamilton was never threaten. I was falling asleep, but the dunks kept waking me up! JCM was just undersized. They did show heart and played a good game.

  9. WELL SAID BROTHER THE ATMOSPHERE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT JUST ASK LAST YEARS HAYWOOD TEAM WHO THUMPED MITCHELL AND GOT TO THE BORO AND LOST TO MLK ONLY SCORING IN THE 40'S AFTER PUTTING UP 91 IN THAT SECTIONAL GAME THIS IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR WHERE COACHING SHOWS UP

I agree Bolivar should be favored because they are the defending champs. However, the coach at Mitchell, whom everyone says can't coach, has a state championship ring. (He won it with a Kingsbury team that only loss one game.) A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then? There is another nut out there!

  10. With a week and a half to break down every possible matchup of players, fans, team schedule, coaches, etc. I'll go ahead and say that this thread makes it to 30 PAGES :thumb:

Bolivar wins because they've been here before and done it while Mitchell has not. Experience of playing in close games matters this time of the year and for anyone who thinks that Mitchell is better for having thumped FW tonight well YOU ARE WRONG!!!!

Bolivar got to experience a tourney type of atmosphere tonight against a hungry Lipscomb team that played great. That makes them better in the long run and gets them even more prepared for how to win in the clutch. Beating teams by 50-POINTS is not good preparation for what's going to happen in Murfreesboro.

    Keep wishing!

  11. I think Timmy "BIG DOG" Wilson out of the Chatanooga area is someone that no one is mentioning. Are you guys serious!?!? He's the best pitcher out of TN since Reggie Harlem was lightiing up the record books in 1971. Wilson went 15-1 with a 0.34 ERA last year and this summer hit 97 on numerous occassions. He puts anybody and everybody to shame. He was the Tostitos Doritos Fritos Cheetos player of the year, a huge honor and will soon have his jersey number retired at his high school. He is ranked the #1 player in TN and the #2 player in the country according to ESPNDeportes.com. He is by far the best pitcher in the state.

The Tostitos Doritos, Fritos Cheetos player of the year! I love it. I needed a good laugh this morning! Thanks. <_<

  12. Raleigh Egypt has reached the thirty win mark for the fourth time in seven years and for the third season in a row. Records for the past seven years are:

    1999-00 33-6

    2000-01 28-8

    2001-02 26-7

    2002-03 28-8

    2003-04 31-5

    2004-05 33-3

    2005-06 30-1 (so far)

    Total of 209-38

    Avg. of 29.7-5.4

Pharaoh Tradition...we build it one game, one season at a time.

The most impressive thing about Raleigh Epypt's run is that this year they moved up in classification and is having their best year of the seven. Jimmy Adams is a great coach. <_<
