Thank you footballguru. However, I read that the score was 14-6 when Bishop Byrne made critical errors on special teams which led to Davidson touchdowns. This happened the first time they played. No excuses, it's part of football, but I would not say that Davidson dominated.

I was at the Hillsboro game two years ago, and Melrose had a lot of trouble defending against their Wing-T. Although, Hillsboro moved the ball on the ground effectively, they had trouble against Melrose defense in the red zone. Also, it snowed that day. I think it will be warmer weather and Melrose offense will be more effective. It should be a great game.

It's about the money. TSSAA gives games to the highest bidder, with virtually no consideration of the players or fans. Why do you think the Spring Fling was in your town the past several years? Because it's so convenient for the rest of the state?

It agree the previous post which said that the state championships should be rotated.

I think that is a given. Riverdale will be in the championship game again. I think Ridgeway will pull it out over Ravenwood. But it will not be easy for them. They moved up in classification this year and was in 3A three years ago. They do not have a history of performing well in the playoffs. However, Melrose stood in their way in both classifications.

Overall, I think Riverdale will get one for the thumb. They are just like the old Brentwood Academy teams.

Lost Old Dad, I totally agree. I think Tennessee can compete favorably with teams outside of the state as well. I know it is hard to do in football. It is being done all the time in basketball.

Also, The Squad..I'm not bored, and since I'm from Memphis I will be around for awhile.

Lost Old Dad, thanks for your reply. I'm not from South Panola, I'm from Memphis. I think it is a game that could make alot of money. Being from Memphis, I find it interesting that most people who post on this site don't even know about most teams in our own state. Anyway, your points are well taken.

Of course you care. You care about how you rank nationally. No, you don't have to play them to win the state, but you could play them. Germantown played them. There was a thread, why isn't Riverdale ranked. How do you stack up nationally?

Most people in Memphis are aware of the best team in Mississippi (Bastesville's South Panola High). Most people in Mississippi refer to them as South Panola U. The Tiger has outscored foes 1,584 - 379 in a 40 game winning streak. They have been ranked in the USA Today Super 25 top ten for the last 3 years. Can Riverdale beat them? (Take a look on Germantown fared against them this year.)

In in next hour and a half, I will be on the road leaving Memphis heading for The Rock. Although, I'm a Fairley Class of '79 grad., with my son attending East and my daugther attending Whitehaven, I'm pulling for Melrose. It's all about Memphis baby! See ya at The Rock!

I was at the Bishop Byrne vs SBEC game. The only thing in question after the first quarter was if their were any chilli dogs available.

VG I was hoping for an East - Melrose match up. My son is a senior at East, but I enjoyed my trip to the Rock two years ago and I'm looking forward to returning!
