  1. she played for the shooting stars for several years
  2. saw s.g. in action last night very impressed giong to be a real strong team
  3. did anyone hear how the scrimmage with unaka and hv went
  4. I get a kick out of players and parents of players in this area calling people from other counties names. Sullivan makes fun of Carter… makes fun of Unicoi… makes fun of Sullivan and on and on. I’ve heard “it’s no wander they act that way; you know where they’re from?” We’re all from East Tennessee and I hardly doubt that the name of the county on our license plate would make one any better than the other. Rednecks and hoodlums are in all states and counties. There’s a fine line separating all of us…called county lines and most of us cross them daily going to and from work and to visit friends and family. So, let’s try to be nice! Several of the games have gotten out of hand; I honestly don’t think parents can point the finger at the girls or their upbringing. I think all of our girls are wonderful students and beautiful young ladies, but girls are girls are girls and as the old saying goes, give them an inch and they take a mile. The referees for this summer league are any Jack or Jill who can blow a whistle. They have allowed the roughness to get way out of hand. A girl gets mistakenly smacked or nudged, no call, she retaliates, no call and in a few minutes you have an out of hand game and tempers of both the players and the parents start to flare. We can’t expect to pay a dollar to get in the door and have WNBA refs call the game, so let’s all try to have fun. This summer league is just that, a summer league and is meant to keep the girls playing, involved and active.
  5. I've also had a child heckled at and her team referred to as the "Bad News Bears" from behind the backstop at Unicoi County, but also at many other schools. Anybody that can say stuff like this only happens at Unicoi is blind. Please stop trying to take away from Unicoi to shadow the losses suffered by other teams. Unicoi gets the heat from others because they're winners. If Unicoi fans were making harassing remarks and Unicoi were losing...you guys would be laughing, making fun and brushing it off. GIVE IT A REST! As a parent of basketball, football and softball I've witnessed fans come watch and yell that don't know anyone on the field. Our girls were always treated with respect from the Unicoi players and parents. I don't care where you live, we all have rednecks among us. Sometimes the pot is calling the kettle black!
  6. Boy...that opens it back up. LSUfan quoted Section 8..." An eighth grade student is eligible to participate for a member school if he/she is enrolled at the school." Enrolled at the school could be the key! This may mean under the same roof/administration as stated by CoachMD.
  7. Thanks for the guidance. It seems like you ask 10 people and get 10 different interpretations of the rule.
  8. I would like to know if anyone has a definite answer on the number of years/semesters a student can play softball. I know some schools are allowing 8th graders to play if the middle school is on the same campus. I think if they can do it...this is great; however, I would like to know of the specific rules. In one particular situation our school has a special education student on the team. We asked about additional years of eligibility (because she could likely be in high school for more than 4 years), we were told that students only had 8 semesters/4 years of eligibility. Does this mean these 8th graders can't play a year of high school ball? Any guidance?
  9. but is it really the lenght of the highschool season that is the issue or is it that kid in general play more travel ball should this season be the one cut instead of the school season
