  1. Still looking for 8th graders for a good Rush team this year. We went to the AAU State Tournament last year and was very competitive and look to be even more competitive this year....still looking for one or two strong 8th graders. If you are interested contact me at 931-510-8835 or tennesseerush@gmail.com.
  2. Interesting take on the game considering no team has won by that margin all year, and PC has taken two of the three games with Clay COunty... And yeah Clay County did miss 6 free throws down the stretch, but let's not forget that Pickett County missed 10 also I believe it was...either in the 4th quarter or overtime...Don't make it sound like Clay was the only one missing free throws and that is the only reason they lost. It was a good game that could have went either way and my guess is if both teams are fortunate enough to meet up Tuesday night it will be the same way...no one winning by 12.
  3. Any predictions on the Region 4A tournament this week or is there even anything to talk about? Is it inevitable that Clarkrange and Jackson County will meet yet again this year for the fourth time (and possible a fifth to come in March)? #4 Pickett County at #1 Red Boiling Springs #3 Clay County at #2 Friendship Christian #2 Clarkrange at #3 Trousdale County #1 Jackson County at home against #4 Gordonsville Is it possible that Pickett County goes to RBS and wins? They played them close at RBS earlier in the year. Midways through the 4th before RBS pulled out to double digit lead if I remember correctly? If PC were to get the win, my bet would be that the Region Tournament would be moved back to Livingston and a DIstrict 7 sweep would be in the works....again it is a long shot for PC to win on the road in Red Boiling, but anything is possible..it is TOURNAMENT TIME!!!! My predictions...RBS over PC in a close game at RBS, Jackson Co. in a BLOWOUT win over G-Ville, Clarkrange in a BLOWOUT win over Trousdale Co., Clay County by 8 over Friendship Christian at FCS. Semifinals: Clarkrange over RBS by 15 (unless Colter gets hot, but don't bet on Coach Rogers letting that happen two years in a row...my guess is a Region Semifinal exit for RBS). Jackson County over Clay County by 15. Clay County is a very good team, and Coach Sims has always had a nack for the BIG Games in Region so I would not be totally shocked by a Clay County upset here, BUT I think Jackson COunty is way too talented....too much fire power for Clay County to pull it out.. FInals: Jackson County over Clarkrange by 15 for a Region Championship game and don't be surprised to see this matchup again in March... What does everyone else think??
  4. Going to be some good basketball in the Region tournament would be my prediction. I am thinking that a District 7A sweep may be in order this year. PC over Watertown by 11. Clarkrange over RBS in a close one...possibly being decided by free throws at the end. Clay County over Gordonsville by 7 at Gordonsville. Jackson County pulling the upset in Lebanon over FCS by 3. Jackson County being healthy will determine the outcome of this game. They were obviously sick last night, and several of their players did not look too good...trying to gut it out and play but it was obvious they were feeling under the weather. I think all 4 of these games will produce some good basketball..too bad they all play on the same night and we must choose one. Good luck to all the district 7A teams..hopefully we can break out the brooms Saturday night....
  5. The Tennessee Rush AAU Basketball program will be hosting tryouts on Saturday February 26, 2011 at Hilham Elementary School in Overton County. There are two age groups trying out this weekend. 8th grade girls and 5th grade girls. The 5th grade girls tryouts will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday at Hilham, and the 8th grade girls tryouts will be from 12 pm to 2 pm. Both these teams were AAU State Tournament contenders in 2010 and look to be even stronger this year. If you would like to tryout for either group, please email Matt Ferrell at tennesseerush@gmail.com. Also, there is a possibility that the Tennessee Rush team will field a 3rd grade team this year as well. If you are interested in any of the three teams, please email Matt Ferrell at tennesseerush@gmail.com.
  6. Yes, actually the Tennessee Rush program does have a 5th grade team. A lot of good talent on the team too...very competitive at the AAU state tournament last year...if you are interested you can go to the website at www.tennesseerush.webs.com to see our teams from last year as well as to get info on this year. Also, you can email at tennesseerush@gmail.com and get a response quickly giving you information on tryouts etc. Thanks.
  7. There is something we can agree on somewhat..need to correct my earlier post. Should have had to pay for it, which he did. That is the punishment I think that fit the crime. Maybe talked to by Principal or director about being more careful but this was blown way way out of proportion in my opinion.
  8. Sure was 66..but someone as knowledgeable about LA as mtndew should have known that right? ha ha...never said I personally was an LA "fan," but maybe a good basketball fan in general...I like watching their girls play because they always have good teams and a good program..and in the last 5 years the boys were the same...now not so much. Loss of interest I guess...Anyways, yeah I like to watch the LA program play when they are worth watching, I also have watched Clarkrange (girls), Jackson Co., Clay Co., RBS (girls), Upperman, etc., OH and of course PC. I think it may be okay to have an overall respect of the game, and to like watching the game enough to go watch these teams play when they're good...I'm not sooo brainwashed to think that LA is almighty and all that because they are not, but they were alot closer a year ago or two months ago then they will be two months from now, or a year from now. And actually yeah I support the LA girls program a whole lot more then you know I am sure... OLDCAT...I did not need anyone to answer any questions for me..I'm capable. The truth is nothing should have been done. The truth is that they were going to suspend a good coach that they did not like in the first place and would he have ever coached again at LA anyways? Doubt it. I don't know anyone that would take a suspension for not doing anything wrong, but that's just me. And whoever said the board members were not all wrong is correct...but the ones that are the worse have about 3 people that vote for them EVERYTIME...they control the votes so unless they are ousted sometime soon...the same kind of behavior will continue...That is the truth and anyone that isn't in on the Livingston politics, and actually most people that are know that's the case....don't ya think it's wild that there are so many people outside of LA that love the coaching change...outta be a clue.
  9. Where are all those jokers questioning my statement of a sub par district the other night? Everyone in the area is thankful that Overton county board of education is so out of control because it has made everyone else's life so much easier. Coach miller is a good coach and will be ok if he continues but LA is on it's way back down. This whole situation reminds me of an eminem song "what happens when karma turns right around to bite you? And everything you stand for turns on you to spite you? Well I think overton counties board of Ed can possibly answer that question. Might wanna call coach Melton back, double his pay, fire the director and board members, and maybe they can salvage something out of this season...but since we all know they're too proud for that to happen, guess it is just gonna be a long long rest of the year....I always heard that it is a long painful fall from the top....guess la is finding that out.
  10. Actually...just as was said a minute ago, there was nothing to be suspended for..broke a radio..wow..he paid for it. Get over it. What should have been done is the egotistical power hungry director and board of education should have sit on their thumbs like they do on most topics that matter, and not got involved. He was hired to coach basketball and in 5 years no one else done it like he has at LA (in a 5 year time look it up..the stats say it all) and if they wanted to do it themselves they could have not hired him and just had all 10 of those goofballs sit on the bench with the director at the head and the bench could have been the entire front row of the LA bleachers HA HA...They could have even saved having to pay a coach therefore cutting into the budget deficit everyone seems they have...maybe that's a plan for em. Part 2: Sub Par district? Absolutely in Double A. LA won the region 3 years and how many state tourney wins? 0. Memphis has the stout districts and regions we have the weaker ones. That is not fabricated, that is absolutely fact and everyone that is real with themselves knows it. As far as letting it die, I agree completely and most likely it will die with the LA program...simple facts..this year they'll be ok..the next year a little less...then a little less...then eventually they will be back like they were..nobody on the boys side and a girls powerhouse...most LA fans that are Coach Melton haters better just hope and PRAY that he does not end up somewhere else in the district and come to LA every year and absolutely wear em out...but then again that would be KARMA kicking someone right in the mouth wouldn't it? DID I ANSWER ALL THESE QUESTIONS TO YOUR LIKING??
  11. LOL..that is really funny. Give your friend some advice. Tell him he should have his vision checked or maybe just pay attention to the game one... midten your Jackson County team is really good..they don't need you on here attempting to make everyone else look bad, but actually only dumbing down yourself and your team. PC hasn't gotten any favors at home, on the road, or anywhere else this year. They did not play particularly well at JC and both teams know that...Did JC play as well as they could? Probably not. Did PC play good against Clay? Yeah. As good as they could have? No. Did the calls get out of hand? No. Did Clay get lots of charges? Yeah. Did Clay do a lot of charging? Yeah. Did Bibb get T'd up quicker for doing less than anyone else? Yeah. Complaining against a bad call that he did not say much about...BUT THEN he gets a T because Bubba could not back up his call. That is a fact. People from Clay County will tell you that call was blown. It was an obvious charge. Everyone in the gym knew it. I have talked to several of em who did. If Clay's fans are not on here complaining and PC's are not on here bragging then it must have just been another game with no reason to get on here and question this or that...especially not a Jackson Co. fan that has no concern with this game, was not there, and apparently wants to watch everything through a pair of big blue one sided goggles...Get a grip man, your team is good and you hurt them by making em sound like whiners like yourself.
  12. I would agree with some things a disagree with others..Did they set the bar high? Definitely. Could they have done it again or maybe even been better? Absolutely. Will they now? No way. LA's program has been sabotaged by a school board that does not care about athletics other then them wanting to control the sports programs, AND by a bunch of power hungry old guys that need a BIG BOOT in a certain part of their body if ya know what I mean? Anyone notice that those college players that you speak of were coached by who when they were little? Coach Melton. Who at 5/6th grade? Coach Melton. Who in middle school? Coach Melton. Who in high school? Coach Melton. AND who helped them get scholarships....you guessed it Coach Melton. I don't know for sure who the third player you are talking about is but I know for sure that TJ Smith and Chase Dunn were all coached by Melton all the way up. The talent was not down before this year started and it is not down now. The kids will do what the kids can do and get away with..whether it be do little and get away with it or be forced to do a lot. They will live up to the expectations of the leader and Coach Melton expected to win that GOLD BALL every year and every year that they didn't, was a let down. That being said I think the record he had spoke for itself and still does with it being the winningest 5 years ever at LA. Anyone else ever heard of a coach leaving on 5 out of 5 district championships? 3 sub states in a row? and 2 state tournament appearances? Me neither and that would only happen in a place like LA where people have short memories of their mediocre past and what will be their mediocre future...LA struggled to beat single A teams like Pickett County a few years ago and between 02-05 only beat Celina/Clay Co. once and that was playing every year so 1 out of 4 beating a single A team was the norm. And yes it was just that THE NORM. Everyone expected championships out of the girls and get to region in boys was a good year. Anyone that is honest with themselves knows that is the case. Coach Melton's 5 years at LA changed the entire mindset and attitudes of the LA Boys Program and again, like him or not, everyone that looks back at results previous to him knows it is true. The Overton Co. Board of Education is running out of control and the people refuse to vote them out...simple as that. They call the shots in areas where they shouldn't. If you want to coach the team, why pay someone else to do it...let's just let the entire Board and director of schools (can't forget about him) sit on the bench and call the shots..group decision or something. Hate to see a good coach go BUT LA deserves to go back to the way they were...losing in a sub par district and that's where they're headed. Is it also coincidental that in 5 years LA lost 2 district games I believe (DeKalb Co. and Upperman) and in less then half a year they already have one? Hate it for the kids because they have some good kids at LA that I would love to see go on to great things but the people that is behind this and the parents that are happy about it (whether secretly or openly) deserve EVERYTHING they get..a mediocre team..with exceptional athletes that perform to mediocrity and end up falling in the Region tournament to other mediocre teams...That is what's on the way for LA..
  13. The James C. Haile State Tournament brackets are posted on mtcscougars.org. The tourney is divided into small and large divisions as always. There are several teams in the small division that I was wondering if anyone knew anything about: South Cumberland vs South Fentress is a first round matchup with the winner playing Middle Tennessee Christian..anyone know anything about any of those? Also in the tournament is Thurman Francis (i think), Carroll Oakland, Liberty, and Swiss memorial. Does anyone know anything about Swiss Memorial, either of the South teams or MTCS who I am assuming is once again good...wondering why they decided to play small division this year instead of large like normal. Thanks for any info on these teams.
  14. Yep...Huge breaking news is right! Overton Co. Board and director finally accomplished what they have been trying to do since what 05? believe that is when he was hired 05-06 season...Since then this has been in the works and they finally got it done today...Sad day if you love basketball because a great coach was lost....
  15. We are strongly considering going to the aau national tournament in branson, Missouri from June 27-July 2 and are looking to pick up a couple of players to go. We are looking for a strong post to be one of the players and the other is still up in the air...if interested contact Matt ferrell and tennessee rush basketball at mgferrell21@tntech.edu...
  16. I can't believe that it was that lopsided between KGC and Tennessee Elite in the pool game. Championship game sounded much closer but that was a surprise to me that they blew them out the first time. TN Team Pride (the one out of South Middle Substate) should have been in the 3/4th place game I believe..not sure who the other one was. My guess was the TN Trotters..not sure if that is right or not..does anyone know how that one went?
  17. I second that motion about the American spirit. The folks at Cheatham COunty done an OUTSTANDING job this weekend running this tournament. The 12u tournament had several very good teams there, but in my opinion KGC and TN Elite definitely stood out..would like to know the final on that championship game though..They were both very good teams and will represent Tennessee well in the AAU National Tournament...
  18. We are looking for a tourney or a play day on may 8 or 9...anyone know of anything..? We have a 9u girls team that needs a tourney. Thanks.
  19. I believe that the 9u favorites have to be tn trotters and tn flight select..12u I would say team pride and kgc lady pride...11u team pride and tn flight select...don't know a whole lot About the 10u division or the older groups other then 14u and i would say team pride wins that one..
  20. Just wondering if anyone knows about any middle school team camps in the the middle Tennessee area? I know about the one at Upperman high school, but I am looking for a second middle school camp to attend? I know that ttu usually has several in camp for the high school but i have not heard when or if they are having any this year or if they are having any for middle school teams?? Anyone with info on any camps in middle tennessee please let me know. Thanks.
  21. Anyone know about the other substates..such as the ones in east, west, and north middle?? In the 10-13u age groups?
