  1. Bradley Central and Cumberland County will come out of this region....one will lose to Riverdale at Riverdale. If Bradley hosts Stewarts Creek, that may be the game of the tourney prior to the state tournament....I will take Stewarts Creek in a close one..

  2. Hardy did't play in last game . Huge difference in the game . Jackson Co losing got them out of Picketts brackett .. Hmm , i wonder !!!!

Exactly...that third place district game meant NOTHING. Jim will have them ready next week...They'll beat GP and play Clarkrange a tight game. Not sure they can ever beat them again, but they will give em all they want!

  3. Region 4A Tournament to start on Friday night...the biggest question of the hour...will District 8A steal a win from one of the lower seeds?

    My predictions:

Trousdale at Pickett----Pickett wins BIG BIG

    RBS at Clarkrange----Clarkrange by 15

    Clay at Watertown---Clay by 15

Jackson Co. at Goodpasture--- Jackson by 8

Replay the district 7A tournament at LA with seeding being:

    Pickett vs Clay--Pickett by 15

Jackson vs Clarkrange-- Clarkrange by 5---This has been a great game both times they have played and JC has the best matchup for Meadows in Hardy. This will be a great game to watch if it ends up happening.

Finals: Pickett vs Clarkrange---too close to call.

Good luck to all the District 7A teams in the Region Tourney first round on Friday night.

  4. If I am not mistaken Sparta has been the Best Upper Cumberland Team the past 4 or 5 years & I don't watch Girls Basketball. Especially Single A Girls. Sure their is some good girls that play in Single A, but I just prefer a faster game. That being said Upperman has a Girl that can GO

Just wanted to clarify a small side note here. Actually, two side notes. #1 Pickett county girls play as fast a game as anyone in the state and if my math is correct average more points per game than any boys team in the area just about.

Secondly, white county wasn't the best team in the area last year. Pickett beat them double digits a year ago and Sparta found a good excuse to cancel the game at Pickett to avoid the stomping they were gonna receive. Also, let it be known that Pickett isn't on white county's schedule this year for a reason.

Other than that, Carry on pretending that clay couldn't win 8AA this year by all means...

  5. Clay would not beat Upperman. Clay did not beat Livingston. Clay would struggle with Magnet big league.

Clay did lose to LA but it was the first game of the year, and it was arguably the BEST LA has played all year long. Clay could beat Upperman if Macon has beat em 3 times...Clay beat Macon 2/3. Clay would DEFINITELY beat Magnet. Clay would be the 8AA favorite. That being said, the favorite doesn't always win, so there ya go.

  6. Thank You for the Compliments. I know that Celina beat Macon, so that means Celina beat Macon, regardless that does not mean that Celina would win the 8 AA district, 8aa is tougher than the League that Celina Plays in but 8AA is not a tough district. If Celina had to play Macon, Livingston & Upperman consistently it would be doubtful if they would win, different deal, and they shouldn't win because they are a school with what?? 300 or 400 kids. Sometimes it doesn't matter in certain areas but most of the time it does, Celina is a good Single A team & their region isn't very tough at all, if it was they would advance after they get to state Tourny . It's a wonderful accomplishment to get to state tournament but if your district & region is tough then it will show when you get to the state tournament, that IMO explains why schools from the Upper Cumberland Area rarely get past first round of State (boys). Some areas are just easier than others. Pretty simple really. Celina is a Good Small School Team, Macon is a Decent AA team, Cookeville is a Horrible Big School Team. Upper Cumberland as a whole is possibly the worst boys basketball district in the State. Sorry but as they say " It is what it is"

Incorrect on many fronts. #1 The south middle area that includes Moore County, Community, etc is far and away a worse area of boys basketball than the Upper Cumberland. If you don't believe that, please travel that way one night of the regions...I promise you won't want to go back. Secondly, Clay County might be in a weak district...however, they would have won 8AA this year. I would almost bet you that the 8AA coaches would absolutely agree with that assessment. If you don't believe so, please contact one of em and ask. Pickett split with LA, who finished 4th in the district I believe...Jackson County lost to macon twice by around 12 if memory serves me right...it was all Macon could do to beat Clay once...For anyone to argue that night in, night out, Clay wouldn't have been the best team in 8AA this season would just be wrong.

  7. That is how it works to my understanding...I also understand that there was no freshman of the year on the boys side. May be wrong about that but that is what I was told by some of the area coaches. As far as how the all district stuff is voted on, Pickett's team has several kids that can score and therefore don't put up the numbers on average that some of the other teams best player or two does....luckily it is a team game and individual awards will be collecting dust in a  couple of weeks and really don't matter. The team trophies are the ones to be sought after...the rest in the grand scheme of things, really don't matter.

  9. No at Prescott boys game.

But was it the Pickett at Prescott boys game I meant? Bcuz the film definitely didn't show anything malicious on that. If that's what you're talking about I remember the specific play. It was a weird play, but nothing intentional about it or anything like that. But, that's off topic as to what this thread was about. I was just curious.

  10. Did you ever hit that on the head. The officiating in the Upper Cumberland is as bad as I've ever seen. The way they will single out a player and make themselves front and center is terrible. The calls and no calls. I saw two officials that do high school games working a middle school game where a player was lying on the floor and another play stomped him in the chest and no call was made. The level of ability and desire to be front and center is terrible.

Just curious but was this in a Pickett vs Prescott middle school game? Because if so, the film doesn't support your argument.

  13. 1. Upperman

    2. Macon

    3. Smith

    4. LA

    5-7. York, Dekalb, Cannon

    8. CM

5-8 are all dangerous this year...Smith and LA will have to play well to earn a Region berth this year no matter who it is...I would think York with a couple seniors would have an advantage because they probably aren't ready for it to be over yet, however I don't know if they can ever knock off LA or Smith. Dekalb and Cannon are both young and that might be dangerous this time a year...maybe they don't realize how big the situation is and just go out and play. Should be an interesting tournament next week at TTU!!!

  14. Disrespected the game completely...look up the game film/highlights...30-39 from 2..most of those 30 makes were layups. He didn't cross half court half the time on defense and they would rebound and throw it long for him to score a layup. 147-123 or something similar to that was the final score and from what I could tell on the game film that I seen...it didn't resemble basketball like I am used to watching...no reason for a kid not to make it back to the defensive end half the time....

  15. District Standings heading into the tournaments:

    #1 Clarkrange

    #2 Pickett County

#3/4 Clay County-Jackson County (winner of their make up game on Thursday is third)

    #5 Monterey

  16. Please someone answer this! At each of these TRUE Exposure events there are hundreds of teams that participate! So 1000's of players so lets narrow it down to just Juniors and Sophs because unless you are 6'5 or one of the Elite athletes in the Country they are not watching Freshman and its a joke Showcases even allow 8th grade teams! So I realize in each age group there are different divisions maybe like A,B,C with that being said with these BIG Exposure events how many of these 1000's of young ladies will honestly get offered a full scholarship? Just Curious!

Just pointing out since no colleges are looking at 8th and 9th graders...Stone Memorial has a 9th and 10th grader that both hold offers from Tennessee Tech and interest from several other schools...they were noticed this past summer between 8th and 9th, 9th and 10th...just saying, it does happen.

  18. I'm still unclear what actually happened here as it has not been addressed in this thread.

    Article II, Section 13 states:

"If a student has been ruled eligible as a result of a change of residence, and the parents or guardian return to the former residence before the student has been enrolled in the new school for one complete school year, the student will be ineligible for twelve months from his/her last participation date."

The article says "an older family member still resided at the old residence." Is this "older family member" a parent or guardian? I so, then it's more than likely a violation (unless the parents divorced and the mom got custody). If this was a non-custodial older sibling, aunt, uncle, extended family member, etc., then a parent or guardian did not return to the former residence and no violation occurred.

If there is another scenario which is not covered by these two possibilities I've addressed here, I've not thought of it.

The ruling is unclear about how this was a violation. Just hate to hear about something like this from a school, program, and coach which be all accounts are doing things right and above table.

My understanding of the rule is if a player moves and switches schools, they must shut the power off basically at the old residence. No one can stay behind living there. Reason behind that is that a family could simply rent in another zone, never move, and be eligible. However, I think I heard this young lady had a sibling in the old zone that continued school there.

  19. If a student athlete lives with both parents, how the HE** can this bunch of idiots punish a family member / student for this. Why does the TSSAA not take a look at the private schools recruiting over the summer from public schools....happens all the time...ask CPA....The public schools in the state of Tennessee need to form their own organization. There are plenty of retired leaders / coaches that could govern better that this bunch. Let them make some rules for the private schools and enjoy the league no one cares about. Segregated tourney "held at at private college"

Put CPA, CAK, all these others in one league and let them cheat it out every year. I'm sick of the rural schools getting the blunt ends of this crap.

It's not like this doesn't happen elsewhere as well. A team in district 7A currently has a kid FROM CROSSVILLE playing...who moved in between freshman and soph year...and who has a brother still in Cumberland county schools.

    Hmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔

  20. I'm still waiting on you to elaborate on

    her disappearing act..

Just curious what is her averages? I am sure they are on the flier that the school will send out for her Miss Basketball nomination push, but just wondering what the official averages are? Im guessing mid 20s PPG?
