  1. My bad i forgot creek wood, they will be in our district, and camden will be over with Milan and westview

He told you his sources. He said the AD (i assume at Waverly). Camden will end up going west to the region that is basically their baseball, basketball, softball, etc. district this year. Bolivar, Chester Co., Lexington, etc. I agree that it makes more sense to send Cheatham and Sycamore to the other district and bring Camden in to district 11. But when does the TSSAA usually do what makes sense.

  2. Steeler,

Tell us exactly what you think the district will be. Remeber this: part of this whole equation is driving distance. Do you think TSSAA is going to allow Cheatham County to travel to Camden on a Tuesday to play a double header (JV / varsity) in baseball? Cheatham may not be able to get a bus until 3:45 pm. That will get them to Camden @ 5:15 pm. 1st pitch in JV game @ 6 pm. 1st game in varsity @ 8 pm. Game over @ 9:45 pm (if no extra innings). Leave @ 10:15 pm. Arrive @ CCCHS 11:45 pm. Even worse if it is Sycamore. Again, Camden is the missing link in this whole deal. Just my thoughts on the whole situation that has been presented to all AD's and coaches over the last year. Cheatham and Sycamore are less than 30 minutes from Greenbrier, White House, Westmoreland, and Goodpasture. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Camden is not coming east. I know that is what they would like to happen, but I don't think you will see that happen. They are going west. Probably not what they want. However, I hope I am wrong and you are right.

  3. Waverly will be in District 11 AA next season with the following teams: Waverly, Stewart County, Fairview, Creek Wood, Harpeth, Montgomery Central, and Camden. Cheatham moves a little East with: Sycamore, Greenbrier, Westmoreland, White House, Macon County, and Goodpasture. TSSAA will not separate Cheatham and Sycamore again. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I hope you are right. However, I think it will be the three Cheatham schools together Creekwood, Waverly, Stewart, Montgomery Central.

  4. i'm asking all team in Lewis co. and waverly's new region.

    Lewis Co.'s New region:

    Lewis Co.

    Loretto

    Hickman Co.

    East Hickman.

    Spring Hill

    Page

    Marshall Co.

    Giles Co.

    same as basketball and baseball.

    Waverly:

    Waverly

    fairview

    Creek wood

    Harpeth

    Sycamore

    CHeatham CO.

    Mont Central

    Stewart Co.

I don't understand what you are looking for. I thought you wanted to know who Waverly would play region and non-region next year. I don't believe they will play Lewis County next year. I may be wrong but I feel like their non-region schedule will include Camden who they always play. Houston County who is a traditional rival. I feel like they will schedule Perry County next year instead of Wayne County or Lewis.

  5. these non district games are not for sure, and give a prediction of who u think ur non-region schedule will be, Sycamore, Harpeth, Cheatham Co., Creek Wood, Fairview, Mont Central, and stewart Co. put ur schedule prediction

    Waverly will play

    Perry Co.

    Lewis Co.

    Camden

    Sycamore

    Montgomery Central

    Stewart Co.

    Harpeth

    Fairview

    Creek wood

    Cheatham CO.

    Region games

    Stewart County

    Montgomery Central

    Non-region games:

    Camden-traditional

This is my best guest assuming Houston County is able to schedule.

  6. Well I talked to a hand full of people today and I dont think there is going to be a big crowd coming to the game.. I dont understand why people wouldnt want to come out for the game, Waverly makes the play-offs and people just want to sit at home. Littlegar, long time no see..

Hey , JP hope you are well. I am always here. Sorry if seeing the humor in someone's statement got things stirred up.

  7. If you say so there PT /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

The head coach discussing strategy with the radio announc /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> er. Rofl That is just to funny.

  8. GET FIRED UP!!! I tell ya what! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Waverly has put on a show this season... So what is the list of events for the rest of the week? Little Gar, can you fill me in on the times and what not?

Waverly plays the winner of the Sycamore and Fairview game (played at 4:30 tomorrow) at 7 tomorrow night. If Waverly wins they win the district tourney. If they lose I assume a game would be played Thursday but I don't know the time.

  9. This thread has gotten a little off track. So with that I'll throw my two cents in on the original topic of Sycamore pressing so late into the game with it's main players. I watched the entire game. Sycamore was ahead by almost 50 points at the half. They did press the entire first half. Is that the way they normally play, from what I have seen, yes. However, they normally are not ahead by that much while still pressing. Now, would I have done this, no it was a bit much. Why? One I don't see what Sycamore was getting out of pressing a team they obviously had beat. Will Harpeth have these same problems, no I don't see that. Two, pressing the way Sycamore does will increase your chances of injury over basic half court man to man. Why risk it? Three, I just can't see the benefit. Maybe I've just mellowed as I've aged. As far as the comment about giving Waverly good practice for the press. Well, I agree to a point. However, I don't believe by about half way through the second period Waverly was getting a lot of positives from continuing against that kind of pressure. However, the Waverly kids will gain from this experience and I'm sure remember it in the future. Now, why you would want to give a team future motivation, I don't know, but the Sycamore Coach I'm sure has his reasons. Now Sycamore's coach is a young guy and with age many coaches begin to see that it is not always about following the "plan", so maybe in another time he might make a different decision. Finally, I will say the Sycamore student section was very classy in the way the handled the second half. They did not attempt to embaress or demean anyone as the game wore on. Some might say the kids knew when to ease up before the adults did?

  10. The way Harpeth and Creek Wood played tonight was great and TONIGHT I believe that Waverly or Cheatham would have gotten beat by either team. Monday night may be different story. Did you see the Harpeth-Creek Wood game? Maybe I was just too keyed up from it. Just thought some players weren't particularly in the zone tonight and I don't think the teams are playing up to their potential. Just my opinion.

Yes I saw both games. Creekwood and Harpeth are two teams with more pure shooters (especially Harpeth). Cheatham and Waverly are teams that tend to grind the game out a little more. Maybe that is what you saw. Some of tonights turnovers especially for Waverly in the last few minutes had more to do with grabbing and pulling by Cheatham and the officials letting the physical stuff go at the end of the game (Prince being grabbed from behind by the shoulder and then calling the carry in paticular comes to mind). I guess my gripe with your ealier post had to do with the intensity comment. Intensity I don't believe has been a question for either of these two teams this year. Now do they have their flaws, yes, but night in night out they give their all. And I felt both teams left it all on the floor tonight.

  11. I agree the first game tonight was great! Creek Wood was hit with some major intensity coming from Harpeth tonight, but never backed down.. Came out in the 2nd half and gave it right back to them. Hated to see the game end with a shot at the buzzer. Would have been cool to see the game go into OT. But nonetheless.. Congrats Harpeth! As for the 2nd game: I know Waverly was playing without Frankie and half the school has the flu and is closed til Tuesday due to this... but Waverly gave the game away tonight. Creek Wood or Harpeth would have demolished either team tonight. Harpeth will take the district. Where is the intensity Waverly and Cheatham?

You've got to be kidding! I don't know what game you were watching, but to say that either of these teams lacked intensity could be one of the most clueless statements I have ever seen on here. Were there turnovers? Yes, but to accuse these girls of playing without intensity? As far as the comment about either team being demolished by Creekwood or Harpeth, I want even bother with a response. We will see if that is the case Monday night.

  12. Woo, I'm pumped fellas, this fly bug isn't gonna keep me down.

I also don't think Coach Craig was at half court, but he doing some yelling...

O'yeah you gotta watch out for that "fly" bug!!!!!! Yes Craig was almost at the scorer's table when he got T'd. Also Rawlings was screaming for a timeout and the official apparently went deaf. Great hops on Coach Rawlings part though. I was sitting at the scorer's table so everything was pretty easy for me to see and hear. Coach Rawlings was screaming for a timeout and nothing more.

  13. I really don't see what Concerned22 said that is so bad. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I'm not seeing it as some of you are I guess. I mean he mentioned a "rumor" I have heard the same thing said, I mean he pointed out it was a rumor. As far as screen names, we all are hiding behind them, though anyone from Waverly knows who I am. I don't know, I'm just not seeing it as such a big deal. Anyways is coach McCloud a permanent assistant coach, I know last year coach Graves was helping out, now he is the freshman coach.

Well JP, the reason it is a big deal is in your post. The idea of a "rumor" commonly known as rumor mongering. Why bring up the rumor that Concern 22 brought up. What it the purpose. The purpose of this board is to discuss sports, give opinions of teams and games. It is not to spread rumors or take jabs at others. I will say this, the rumor that concern 22 states is a joke. The only scoring record that has even been close to being broken is the record for number of 3's in a game. The young man who had an excellent first half with several three's played the virtually the entire 2nd half. He came out only when needing a rest. But, again if I thought something about you or if I heard a rumor about you, I would have enough respect for you to either speak to you one on one or keep my thoughts to myself. If we all operated that way this board would be a lot better place.

  14. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Well this is a very interesting thread. I will say Leonard has heart like no other. He seems to strait up Love the game and he works his butt off to prove it. I do think the Tigers will improve a lot over the next year or two, as mentioned there are no seniors on the team. Now, I would hate to even give an opinion on the coaching, seems like thats a very touchy topic. I mean this is a place where you should be able to come and give an opinion, in the proper manner of course, and not get hammered by everyone and there brother. I once had a teacher in contemporary issues, we had different opinions about stuff but seemed to get along. How about we try that here guys?..

You are correct that everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, someone who hides behind a screen name and takes free shots at a kid or a coach that is wrong. If concerned 22 has a issue with a coach he or she should be upfront and talk to the coach one on one. That is what is fair. Hiding behind statements like "the rumor in the stands" is wrong in any case. Disagreeing about how good on team is over another is fine, but when you go after an individual I feel you have crossed the line. On the positive. This year's team is a hard working group, who appear eager to achieve. Their coaches are working hard to help them do just that. They are going to have nights where their size and youth will hurt, but they are fun to watch.

  15. well im a junior at waverly and i don't miss any of our game. go ahead and rag on me for not posting alot of stuff keepinit real but i've played ball with these kids and they are good. i have no idea who you think you are to post bull sugar about this and mention stuff about them when YOU clearly have no idea what your talking about. coach t was made so that ppl can talk about sports not rag on someone fro there posts.....you are a sad excuse for a man if you are gona set here and talk big. the "triplets" are good players but they can do better. i play travel ball with them and we play alot better players than they have so far and we had an extremly good record. o and ill be on that team that plays you and ill drop some points in your face. just go away and don't critise ppl about there fan hood when you don't even know what that means

I think if you will go back and take a second look at keeping it real's post you will find he is not being critical of any Waverly player. He even states they are good players. However, I feel fairly certain he is jabbing, and for good reason, at Concern 22. It is pretty apparent the true nature of Concern's post is to take shots at Waverly's coach. What makes it even lower is to bring some of his players in to the picture by giving an "evaluation" of their ability. All three young men have heart and give great effort. There is no denying that. However, if Concerned had stopped his post by giving his commentary on these three that would have been fine, a little over the top, but fine.

However, Concerned chose to attack the Coach. If anyone needs to go away it is a poster with nothing better to do than take shots at someone trying to work with these young men to be the team they can be. Now having said that this thread should be allowed to die and positive posts about Waverly's team should be the emphasis.

  16. I grew up in Waverly, attended Waverly high, played basketball there and was lucky enough to haved played college basketball. I still continue to watched just about every home game and have for past 20 years.

I have tp say that I'm very excited about this team . Waverly has some very fine ball players, some of the best to come through the school in years. Most nights they are lead by their two starting guards and small forward. They also get strong play from a rotation of players at the power forward position. They are a little smallest and undeveloped at the center position but I think by next year they will show a lot of improvement.

This year they have made some noise and will continue to do so, but next year the triplets as I like to call them, (Justin Vogel, Cody Gilbert and Ben Leonard) will lead this team to a division title. Not to take anything away from the other players because without these guys the triplets could not do what they do, but these 3- players have a mix of talent that screams out championship. These 3 guys look like they been playing together since birth, they know where each other is on the floor at all times, and they play as if their brains are connected. Below is my breakdown of what i see in them.

SF -Justin Vogel = points, can shoot from anywhere on the floor and has never seem a shot he didn't like , he has good ball handling skills and knows how to play the game. He's the youngest of the three but you would never know it.

SG- Ben Leonard, another sharp shooter that we kill you with a 3, or drive the baseline and pull for a 2, Ben also is a great guy with the ball, he makes very few mistakes and you can see he loves the game. He works hard every game and leaves it all on the court. Bens older brother played for Waverly and was a good player himself. Look out JL little bro is making a name for himself.

PG- Cody Gilbert, This is the engine that makes to train go, he is the most unselfish high school player I have seen in a long time. He could lead his team his scoring most nights but prefers to keep his team mates involved with a steady flow of passes that are as sharp and on time as you will ever see from a high school player. His ball handling skills are as good as they come, and his court vision and passing skills are that of a much older player. With all that he still manages to score close to 10 points per night and more when needed.

My only concerned is the coaching staff , thier coach who also attended Waverly High and was a above average player. But there contnues to be unrest in the stands over a rumor that he pulls players out of the game if they get close to tying of breaking one of his scoring records that he holds at the school. From my view I think he has done a ok job with this group, and I think he knows and sees the talent has and will continue to try to get the best out of them each night. I have watched him play and coach, does he have a big ego? YES but I don't think he would cost his team a win just to keep his record alive.

    At least I hope not.

WOW!!!! What a post? Now let's look a little deeper.

    1. This is your first post on Coach T.

    2. You joined Coach T today.

    3. Your very first post has makes references to negative comments others have made about the head coach, and of course you feel he has done "ok."

So I would say you are either

    1. A disgruntled parent with a delusional evaluation of your son.

    2. A disgruntled member of the community taking his shot at the head coach.

    3. Just plain clueless.

    4. Or on something.

So I don't know what your issue is, but do us all a great big favor and find some other ax to grind, or just say no to whatever it is your taking.

P.S. Don't go away mad, just go away.

  17. GEEZ.....Rankin was in HS and college in the 70's , tdntn. He wasn't coaching yet. Then he was at Smith County as HC when Coach Barnes was whooping it up and winning in WC. He was not instrumental in that success at WC. At that time football was very important. Then they became known for basketball, baseball, and great bands. I remember watching a game in the late 80's or early 90's and there were more folk in their band than on the football team . In fact, they probably had more in their flag core than on the football team. Yet, Barnes still won games. To my knowledge, Rankin student taught at WC and helped there only one season. He applied there as a coach, and was not hired.

Rankin did coach at Warren County for three years (played for him) He was hired right out of college. His wife is from Warren County.
