  2. Justin will wrestle 135.
  3. Not that this message board carries any weight, but I do not remember you "boldly" speaking out for any BA family members prior to today. Why do you wait until the decision is made and then aquire a "bold" name and "boldly" speak out? My "bold" accusation is that you are not a BA person at all.
  4. Wow you must still be a little chapped from the Blue Cross Bowl. He is probably talking about the million bucks in Time Warner stock that was actually worth about $100,000 by the time the dust settled. Kind of a crack at Ted not Mccallie anyway.
  5. At the risk of making you puke I will tell you that not everyone is motivated by that. If that were the case, George Quarles would have left Maryville a long time ago. Maryville's facilities are great better than many. However, no where near Brentwood Academy's. BA offered him a lot more money that Maryville was paying him. I may be mistaken (tell me if I am wrong) BA would be a promotion for Coach Potter. THOUSANDS of people are moving from all over the country to live in Williamson County. Coach Potter is a DEVOUT CHRISTIAN. Coach Potter has a son ready to enter middle school. Does he want him entering a Christian school? You may not agree with him, but that may mean a lot to him. Don't look at the superficial.
  6. BA won the tournament and Justin Cash won outstanding wrestler.
  7. I am getting my info 2nd hand. However, I do know BA was missing 3 starters (Wilson, Brooks and Lundborg). So, BA was definitly wrestling some back ups. I have no idea about Clarksville. I do know they wrestled a few weeks ago and it was close with the score going Clarksville's way. I know there was a great match at 145 with Townes for BA winning in overtime and BA brought up an 8th grader (didn't get the name) to upset Clarksville's 125. The last match with the score 32-29, Beki won a major dec. at 160 for the win. I also heard that BA beat Sycamore like 70-9 before wrestling Clarksville. So, I am betting that Clarksville did not wrestle the same guys against Sycamore as they did BA.
  8. Tom Moore was offered a different job. He declined (understandably). Everyone else stayed put to my recollection.
  9. I don't think that stirs the pot. That is a good question. I think that Coach Flatt under achieved in his last few years. The new coach will start with a lot of current talent and plenty in the pipe line. That should lessen the chance.
  10. I have nothing to dispute here - just in case anyone thinks that I blindly defend all things anti-BA. I do think that Kurt Masters agreed with the alum for what it is worth.
  11. Here is what is the 100% fact that is general knowledge and policy at BA: Kurt Masters and Kurt Masters alone makes the hiring decisions. The Athletic Director does not. The current Coach search and decision is 100% his, just as was the last decision to hire Coach Flatt and fire Tom Moore. I feel certain that Coach Flatt gives his opinion (I don't know for sure - this is a guess). Kurt Masters did not hire Tom Moore. Those are all facts. How much Coach Flatt lobbied or not would be speculation and an opinion by me just as it would by any of you. I will not be intellectually illogical by offering my feelings, rumors and opinion as fact. I do not condemn any of you for doing this. This is a message board and we all do it from time to time. However, in the mean time, regarding this issue, I will slurp on the sweet tasting Kool-Aid of what is fact and be thankful that Tom Moore is doing great, because he is a good man.
  12. Redtwin, You have a right to your opinion. However, your opinion can't change the facts. I was "boots on the ground". Your BA player would not be exposed to behind the scenes info. He would have passed on what ever rumors he was exposed to. That evidence reminds me of the typical "I knew a BA player was offered a new car..." kind of evidence. Everyone has a friend of a friend that can brandish a juicey smoking gun. Tom Moore asked for Coach Flatt's help. Coach Flatt became annoyed when his advice was not followed on all occassions. I am not saying Coach Flatt is perfect. Tom Moore did not win championships with very good talent (I know - neither did Coach Flatt in subsequent years). The headmaster, who makes 100% of all hiring decisions - not the athletic director (I don't care what your roommate said - that is a fact), wanted Coach Flatt. I was glad at the time. Not because I did not like Tom Moore, but it did seem like Coach Flatt was the better man for the job at the time to me and obviously Kurt Masters. Did Coach Flatt pound on Kurt Master's door every day lobbying for the job? I don't know and neither does your roommate. I don't blame you for feeling bad for Tom Moore, but he is doing great and Smoothie King is even a sponsor of BA athletics now.
  13. I know that the facts in this situation are meaningless to you. However, the newly hired headmaster fired Tom Moore, whom he did not hire. The head football coach serves at his pleasure. The TSSAA issue was resolved and he had the winningest coach in Tennessee High School History at his disposal. In his opinion Tom Moore had under achieved with the talent that he had. Coach Flatt had zero to do with firing Tom Moore other than agreeing to reassume the job. A coach has to bench a beloved senior and play who he thinks is best sometimes. That is what Curt Masters did. He played, what he felt, was his best line-up. I do not think that Coach Flatt or any of his fans will worry about how people like you will remember him (the type of person who is jealous of anyone successful and never lets the facts get in the way of how they want to feel about a situation). He does not even notice you through a field named after him, a beautiful and thriving school that he helped build and the thousands kids that he impacted and molded during his career. Those are the people that he sees everyday - not the people lurking in their dark holes.
  14. I am told that BA wanted Coach Quarles badly. They were all but positive that he would not leave, but they offered anyway of course. Coach Brothers is LOVED by all at BA. They were not going to offer him the job, however. As a courtesy they told him so he could gain from the situation. BA admin wants nothing but the best for him.
  15. Kotas 6', Garrett 6'1", Murphy 6'9", Stallings 6'5", Brown 6'7" (based on tonight's introductions vs. Giles Co.) Not sure about their avgs. Wright out hurts bad. They are super scrappy, but not solid vs. speed. Their press crushes teams that can't out run them. Several solid players off the bench and they sub a lot.
  16. Una express is devotion to the school - not the coach.
  17. This is sheer scraps but: 103 Cumberland Co. 2nd Place BA 125 Clarksville N.E. 3rd Place Clarksville 130 Rossview 2nd Place Clarksville 160 BA 189 Fairview 3rd place 215 BA HW Dickson Co.
  18. Excerpt from today's paper: Nashville City Paper, December 18, 2006 "...Ravenwood Coach Brian Rector is also said to be high on the list."
  19. I respectfully disagree. I have heard from reliable sources that he was contacted and considered. Also, please refer to this interview. He "did not deny" that he had been contacted by BA. This isn't overwhelming evidence, but I am pretty certain that he was contacted and considered. http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cf...p;news_id=53665
  20. Wow, that is interesting. I had heard that Rutledge was out of the picture. That would take a lot of $$. MBA compensates very well. With that news I think an annoucement may not be for several days. Also, Curt Masters goes to the hospital Monday for surgery.
  21. A couple of his players have done well on the professional level. Kent Austin was just named the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League. Mike McIntyre is the defensive secondary coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
  22. You may be right, but he is eating dinner in Brentwood tonight after spending all day on campus. He would not have come all the way to BA if he was not interested. I feel pretty certain they want Coach Rector. You couldn't go wrong either way.
  23. Big John is a Metro Police Officer and a great man! His son graduated from BA, then UT-Martin and is an exec for Nissan, now. He is a former BA dad and true fan. John has recommended BA to many families. "Steered" is a word that I would agree with. However, he never promised anything to anyone other than the BA experience. He does it for love of the school and love of the kids. It is not about money in anyway. He was investigated closely during the recent TSSAA/legal inquisitions and just like BA, he was found to have done nothing wrong. I realize that many people like “Sweep Left” will always trust their suspicions and rumors much more than the results of any investigation and/or hard facts. I think anyone that is affiliated with a successful program, such as John Patton will have to take the good with this bad.
  24. Well finally one of your suppositions is correct! I did play for Coach Flatt! I base my opinions and observations on countless hours that I spent around him and Brentwood Academy. My "admiration" was earned - first hand! Where do you get all of your hate? (This is the part where you tell me about all of the people you know that were offered cars and money to attend BA).
  25. You assume way too much. I did not say you were jealous of Coach Flatt. I said that you spewed venom and jealous drivel, which is routine from someone who had their butt chapped a few times at his hands. Ringing any bells????
