  1. There will be no changes made. Expect more of the same next year. They think their doing a good job. Their all patting each other on the back right now talking about what a good year they had.

Let me guess?  Fire GC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Boy this didn't take long.

  2. It's obvious to me that NCboy gauges his responses strictly from the limited amount of information he gets from the coacht boards and that he has no knowledge of anything pertaining to high school football that's hasn't been regurgitated on these boards with someones personal slant on it. Typical republitard.   You can tell by his statements that it is beyond his ability to pick up a book, or a newspaper, or maybe go to a website to get the actual facts. As Batman has found out it's really hard to reason with a poster with such limitations, so you just gotta step back and let them continue to make a baffoon out of himself. So everybody stand back and give NCboy room...

You are the intellectual one.  I am sure if you have a college education it was paid by the republicans that actually pay taxes.....

  3. Art, I am entering this to say "hi" because you are my bleacher buddy. I am going to take exception to a statement you made but  I don't mean ill will toward you. It is my belief that no one wins an argument ( I haven't won an argument with my wife in 44 years so I quite trying )

and so you certainly don't have to agree with what I'm going to say.You stated that the Indians have ''good to great shooters''. Even though you watch a lot of basketball I don't think you've seen a great shooter in a long time, because I haven't. I will tell you why I can evaluate a shooter. When I came out of high school I was recognized as the best shooter in the country. I shot 95 percent from the free throw line. That included making 57 free throws in a row in game competition '' a national record at the time ''. i shot 65 percent from the field with everyone trying to stop me. I made sure my team won or I knew I wouldn't make First Team Parade ALL American.

When Ray Mears was TN's basketball coach, his top recruiter Tommy Bartlett came to Florida and saw me score 55 points against Clearwater H.S. I missed three field goal attempts the entire game. Clearwater H.S. had three guys who played DIV.1 basketball. Tommy Barlett reported to Ray Mears that "my performance was as good as any he'd ever seen by a high school player". I achieved this by waking up at 5 a.m. every morning and shooting eight hours a day. Iwas a "shooting instructor" at Dean Smith's basketball camps for 25 years. If there was a " great shooter" at DB he would be recruited by many DIV. 1 programs because there are very few kids committed and dedicated enough, along with the necessary eye/hand coordination, to be a " great shooter".Kids aren"t worthy of being called "great" unless they've worked incredibly hard to warrant that distinction. I also don't think many ,if any, local high school coaches know how to teach kids the proper way to shoot a basketball. They simply don't have the background to be able to teach a kid the proper way to shoot.

I will offer another opinion. George Pitts is one of the finest coaches I have seen at any level. Yes, I think I know something about how great coaches do things because I was coached by Larry Brown and Dean Smith-obviously Hall of Fame coaches.

Why in the last ten years or more doesn't DB have any kids successfully playing college basketball at some level? When I coached at Volunteer H. S. for five years I had eight kids play small college ball( King, Milligan, Tusculum etc. ) When I arrived there they had experienced one team that had a winning season in 17 years. We went to sub-state two of my five years and won the conference (AA class ) three years. When I coached at Sevier we played Liberty Bell four times a year. Our record against them for 15 years was 58 wins and 2 losses. I see where DB lost to Jefferson County today. That just illustrates my point. If DB has "great shooters" and they are coached to achieve good shot selection how do they lose to Jefferson County? Help me understand. I do hope you guys will do better at some point against Science Hill. They just obviously dominate DB's program . I am sure, well not really, that DB will beat Science Hill a couple times sometime in the future. The odds are not to lose time after time. You should beat this years Science Hill team. I can't understand losing to them at all this year.

    Art,

    Toot Toot!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Art, it is good connecting with you on CoachT and learning that all is well with you.  You are my bleacher buddy at DB, and I appreciate your sharing the nice comments Bruce Tranbarger made about me.  He is a super person, and he comes from a great family.  I was blessed to be able to coach him early in my career.  He could score on anyone, but more importantly he was the ultimate team player.  of course, we never lost to Johnson City when Bruce played for me.  We didn't lose to anyone else either.  Bruce was the leader of my first undefeated team.  If Bruce, DB's all-time leading scorer, designated me as the best coach he ever had, that just shows you how intelligent Bruce is.

Now for "the hill23" who I heard from in cyber space a year or so ago.  I appreciate your comments about me.  i want to remind you that I informed you more than a year ago that i no longer wear that t-shirt you're referring to listing all my accomplishments because even though it was extra, extra, extra large, I had additional accomplishments and i couldn't fit them all on that shirt.  As far as tooting my own horn, I don't do that any more.  I blow a big ole tuba because it makes more noise.  I hope that you can remember all this.

Sometimes I like to say whatever is on my mind because I just feel like it.  I hope it doesn't bother you a great deal.  I am not a good person because I brag too much and I am narcissistic.  My wife has tried to help me for years, but I only listen to her about half the time.  That is my secret to being married 44 years.  I am a sinner and I tried to repent several years ago, but it didn't work for me.  I have never done drugs, but I grew up in Florida and all that sunshine gave me a natural high.  I just feel happy and good about myself.

Now, let's briefly talk shirts again.  Since you are interested in my wearing a shirt listing all my accomplishments, why don't you buy me a shirt and list all the times my teams beat Johnson City.  You better purchase a really large shirt because it will require a long list.  Please send that shirt to the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce in care of Coach Mo. I promise I will wear it.

I know that you are a good person, and I want to share one more thing with you.  I want to brag about my special visionary powers and you are the first person I've ever told about this.  I can see it very clearly.  You are trying to guard me in a basketball game when I am in my prime and tearing people up on the hardcourt.  I light you up like a Christmas tree and drop 70 on you before halftime.  You start crying on the court and your coach takes you out of the game and accuses you of playing matador defense.  He says, "Son, you let the bull run wild, now sit the bench the second half and relax".  Everytime you tried to guard me, I jacked up that beautiful jump shot and said "In your eye, sucker".  I did miss three shots that first half because I got a little bored and lost focus.

To All have a great Thanksgiving.

Come on over to JC, and look at our GOLD BALLS IN THE TROPHY CASE. I will get a bulldozer to make the door bigger so you can get your head through it.  How about the great coaching job you did at Volunteer, (the year with Roy Richmond, Morelock and that group) probably had more talent than the Hill that year.  Went to the Regional and pulled out the ole North Carolina 4 corner and lost to the #8 seed.  I never hear anything about the Volunteer years.

  5. I understand that this is a football site, but I will post here anyway because there are those who are commenting on DB sports.  It is my opinion that a high school coach has his work cut out for himself concentrating on the here and now and building for future success.  When you talk about teams or players in the past, you should nave nothing but positives to say or you should keep your mouth shut.

I was disappointed when I read the comments in today's basketball edition written by Pat Kenney and quoting Coach Morgan as saying "In the past we've had participants and hot a lot of players".  Coach Morgan was either misquoted or, in my opinion, he made a stupid comment. I thought coaches are paid and responsible for turning participants into players.  As you might know, I coached basketball at John Sevier for 15 years, and we lost to Liberty Bell (a consolidated Johnson City middle school) twice in those 15 years.  Each time we lost I took responsibility for the loss, and the next time we played them my team kicked their ####.  Now that's a fact, Jack.  i believed it was my job to turn participants into players.  I thought we should never lose to Johnson City ever.

If we ever lost to a team over five straight times, I would simply say I sucked as a coach.

My son, jeff, played for Coach Morgan at DB.  He might not have been a Parade First Team All-American, a national high school player of the year, the recipient of every Division I scholarship in the nation, or appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, but he was a player.  He simply always tried his hardest to do what his coach requested, and he wanted his team to be the best it could be.  DB went to the state basketball playoffs in Jeff's junior and senior years.  Each time they lost to White Station who had more talent and was better coached.

My message here is that if you coach, it is your job to turn those participants into players.

Still tooting your horn.  Do you still wear that t-shirt with all you accomplishments on it?

  6. You are correct. I'm so done with this coaching staff. They've been sitting in the same place too dang long. I don't care if we go down hill or not. It's time for some new blood because the blood we've got is bad. Thanks for the many years but this needs to end. Please. I've been a loyal fan for 17 years and I can't take this anymore. I'm exhausted. Even with us being down this year we should have beaten East by 5-6 scores. There were some bad calls tonight but the play calls were not much better. Looking forward to some change. ROLL TRIBE

The coaching, the refs.  At db is there any time in history that the other team has been better than your team :?:

  7. One thing about it. Its going to be exciting. My gut feeling says that DB wins by whatever they want. I'm just finally glad to see a game coming to get excited about. Best Science Hill team ever? Best DB team ever? Were going to find out next Friday night. Two great offenses. Reed Hayes is putting up some impressive numbers and Foreman is putting on show in every aspect of the game. Thia might set an attendance record at J Fred Johnson this week. I hope for a true test to get ready for the playoffs. I going to predict my score.

DB 63 Science Hill 21. And I would love to have the #1 seed and potentially get a home game for round #3 against Maryville. I just don't know how it will play out. Beating S Hill should give us some points to secure it. ROLL TRIBE

You need to move out of Riverview, that crack has fried your brain.

  8. I don't think Central cared either way. Ia it any different to get beat 69-0 or 169-0. Either way you got spanked. You have to reward kids. This is more about Clark sending a message to the TSSAA than anything. Expect the same next week. Maybe 84-0. Roll Tribe.

And you bunch of clowns wonder why people get on here and bash db!!! It's jerks like you that they do! Is this the same Clark that the city was ready to ride out on a rail last year (and the same one that they will this year). What kind of message would he be sending, trying to get a #1 ranking. This is 2012 and they don't give state championships based on rankings. And you said you played at db, I doubt if you ever seen the field unless if was a game like db played friday night. Either db was down 50 or up 50 in the game was the only time. Just another internet cowboy with a keyboard.

  9. Most the officials in the Arbys classic are college referees, and I have been up there 2 days and can say this-they are doing a good job.

I have also watched some of the ladies classic, which is officiated by a diff association, and the refs there have been less than impressive.

Some good, some bad...but at least from what I have seen they are consistent...

You sound like a ref to Me.

  10. I would like to take this opportunity to invite some of you NET football fans to come to Greeneville Friday night. We can use all the support that we can get. It should be a good matchup. It is a rematch of the 2009 State Championship game. If you don’t have anything else to do, then please come down to Burley Stadium this Friday. Thanks.

They don't have anything to do... :roflol:

  11. You can do all kind of things with bologna-slice it, dice it, puree it, etc. Here I come on this message board with my bologna.I was hired in 1977 by KPT. City Schools to coach and teach at Sevier. That was a very fortunate thing for me at that time because I have felt lucky and privileged to have taught and coached at Sevier for fifteen years. There were terrific administrators and fellow teachers to work with. The students and athletes I worked with during those years were outstanding. I received $250 a year to coach basketball. I realize I was overpaid. When I first came to KPT. I was in a parade downtown. I fell off the back of a turnip truck and hit my head. However, I have never felt disadvantaged in this area. You don't have to call me stupid because my wife does that at least once a week when I piss her off. I have no problem with DB fans wanting to win championships. Most fans want their team to win and some fans vicariously think because my team beat your team therefore I am superior to you.I do think it is important to instill in high school student athletes that they do their very best in everything they do.Your coaches do a great job of this. You do have good coaches in football and basketball who work very hard. It is obvious to me that DB doesn't know how to win state championships in football and basketball. If you did you would have done so.You are good locally.I would like to see the basketball team win one game at the state level and the football team to get past the third round. I think this is achieveable at some point.

Truly talented teams that are well coached win championships. When I coached at Sevier we won 91% of our games in basketball for fifteen years. There were three undefeated teams. It was my fault that we lost any games. We lost twice to Johnson City in fifteen. That was also my fault because I never thought we should lose to those potlickers. We should have been undefeated for fifteen years but a few times I got a little complacent. Some of you would have liked to have been a fan because you could have talked smack.

There is a lot of politics in high school coaching.I always enjoyed playing. I worked very hard to be the best player I could be in high school. I also realized that to be nationally recognized I had to play on a great team. I made sure my team won. It resulted in my being voted the high school national player of the year. To my knowledge this has never been done in the state of TN. It was fun being on the Ed Sullivan Show. I enjoyed playing on two state championship teams in Fla. I hope you get to experience that in football and basketball. I also ocassionly enjoy talking smack. In your eye, sucker.

When I coached at Volunteer and we beat DB in basketball I know I wasn't a good sport. I didn't want to be. I rolled around on the court with Ronnie and repeatly said 'Whose Your Daddy Now'.Good memories for me. No wonder DB dropped us in basketball. If I was at DB I wouldn't want to experience that again, either. Payback can be distasteful. My wife doesn't approve this message but I really don't care.Good luck to all of you.

Yeah I remember the t-shirt you had made and were wearing that had all your accomplishments on it!!!!

  12. That's exactly what would get the point across, boycott the Season Ticket purchases. Leave the seats empty. DB must bring in $200,000 a home game counting all the tickets, merchandise sales and concessions. Hit 'em where it hurts.

I say lets start being vocal about it at Home Basketball Games.... I can get a chant going in no time.... bring some signs... make some noise, then Daniels will come to you and ask you to keep it down, then let him have it.

    FGC

This is the biggest bunch on nonsense I have ever read in my life. You and Waco need to get some signs and go down to db and have an "OCCUPY DB SIT IN", instead of getting behind a keyboard. I would venture to say some of the parents of the players would stick your signs up "where the sun don't shine". This is HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, just an extra-curricular activity of the school. This isn't the Dallas Cowboys and your trying to get rid of Wade Phillips. And the most ignorant statement of all " Leave the seats empty". Who are you hurting? The city "no", the coaches "no". The city has plenty of money, the coaches get paid if no one is in the stands. The only ones it hurts is the KIDS that put in all the time, weight room, summer practice, etc. You are an idiot. If I was a parent of a player to be there next year, I would say to keep your sorry a-- at home.

  13. We both had great running Qb's last year and we were very similar in a lot of ways. I just happen to think we were better than you. I mean, i know we were. Thanks for playing along GvilleDevilsFan, i knew i could get a rise out of you.Lol. Roll Tribe!!!!!!!!!!

Can't you see the problem GvilleDevilsFan, NOBODY in this area are allowed to win a gold ball in Football except them. You will never convince them that Gville was a better team. One week after the regular season is over their threads will be DEAD.

  14. To say that ETSU football failed because there is not enough talent in the area is funny. All other sports at ETSU seem to be fine. The problem is, that dome. Nobody like it for football. Face it, the dome is crap for football. The most people ever there for a football game was TN High vs DB way back. And to say the area does not have enough talent (as you say) is a direct slap in the face to the 2nd largest high school in the state with almost 800 more students then DB. Really, this is sad

No, according to all the DB faithful they should be able to fill a team with just their players. This area is just terrible for football (DB & SH included). There is hope every year but it never happens. Please don't go back to the national champions at TH or DB is the most winningest program in the nation! We are not living in the STONEWALL age (Oh i meant Stone age).

  15. Oh good grief! This might be the most embarrassing thing I've ever read rolling out of Johnson City and that's saying something. "Science Hill?? Science Hill???" ....talkng any smack about football at all? Really? You've been btch slapped for two decades, you can't keep a Southern Conference college program in your own town, you change coaches like George Michael changes boyfriends, and you even mention football?? Then, the icing on the cake, you challenge us to come over to JC to look at "real gold balls"..........and they're from BASKETBALL!!!!!!! BWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I can't even begin to put into words what a tool you look like. You personifie exactly what D-B fans think of when they picture a topper football fan. I'm thinking that a collection of Elton John and Boy George albums aren't far from your bed. Priceless, absolutely priceless!!

No, you are the most embarrassing thing that came from Kpt. Back when football was dropped from ETSU, there wasn't enough talent in this area (as it is today) to recruit from, including the mighty db. I don't care if it is basketball or marbles, you db fans would get on here and crow till the cows come home if you ever won a state championship. Oh! they did win some back in your days, GENERAL JACKSON. Also, sounds like you know about these guys you're talking about. Didn't I see you walking the JC mall with your boyfriend. HMMMMMMMMMMMM. :roflol:

  16. I was going to let it go.When you start "BANKING" on Science Hill against Dobyns-Bennett in football.Don't forget that you have already written 17 bad checks in a row.

Our football program is heading in the right direction, I know it and you will soon. It won't take Stacy long to get the players to buy in. It's probably time for yourself and WhackOff for a comeback of "winningest program" in the nation and all those MYTHICAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you need to see what a Boys State Championship trophy looks like, come on over. We have 3 gold balls in our trophy case. Oh and by the way they are not back in the 1920's. :roflol:
