  1. You forgot to mention what a "humble" guy he was. There are a lot of posts on here talking about how players have been "offered" from all these different great D-1 schools. My question is, if all these offers have been made by the best football programs in the nation, then WHY haven't any commitments been made to the school of choice? I mean come on....there's a big difference between being on the "mailing list" and having the one letter that says "grant in fool."
  2. My question is, are you from TN, because if you don't know who Powell High School's Jared McGaha (6'7, 265) and John Bruhin (6'5, 290) are then I guess you will soon find out. In addition to having those D-1 offers on the table, Jared McGaha was chosen by ESPN analyst Tom Lemming as a top prospect in the state and met with him in April along with others from this list who he considers to be the top prospects in the state and yes, the McCallie QB is missing. John Bruhin is one of the top defensive linemen in the state. Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised someone who is putting out a Vandy preview would be unaware of these two especially since Vandy has expressed a lot of interest in Jared McGaha. It's not that I doubt any of the guys listed deserve the attention or that the person putting together the preview has done the work. But what's even more strange is the fact that no one else other than Tyler Maples on the list is from the region of the reigning state champions, Maryville. Just my thoughts.
  3. Ok, here are my predictions for the upcoming season. Terribly sorry to have been away for so long, but I've had to "re-evaluate" my views about Powell 1) Powell will be number one this year because they have a ton of talent coming back and a new, energetic, coach who is obviously the most brilliant mind (as stated recently by even his own player and his former coaches) when it comes to football. Yes, he may be new, but he knows the system and has great assistants coaching with him who with combined experience and knowledge probably knows a lot more about football than any team in this division. Let's just be honest, a Knox County team is due a championship. 2) Maryville, simply because they have great coaches and some returning players who have already committed to great D-I schools like UT. 3) Alcoa---oh wait, they aren't even in this division are they? But with that great, new head coach (man, I didn't think there were anymore out there) and all that talent, I guess I just thought they would fit here perfectly. 3) Oak Ridge---dang, I know they aren't even in this division either. 3 and 4) This one is hard because I think Central and Halls may break even this year. Seems Central may have some "chemistry" problems, while Halls is continuing to work on and upgrade their program. 5) I'll give Clinton a break and put them above the rest if they don't change divisions. Like Central, they probably have some "chemistry" problems, but I think the changes in their assistants will improve their standing and they may even beat Halls this year. 6) West....maybe if their basketball coach considers helping out the football team? 7) Lenoir City 8) South Doyle-I'm still waiting for Clark Duncan to step in and step this program up. Now I could be wrong about any of this, you know, but I do believe I won't be wrong about many. Afterall, there's no harm in wanting the best, playing the best and being the best. Nonetheless, I certainly wish every team the best of luck in the upcoming season.
  4. Like I said before, you don't know me nor do you know my family and I'm not Denise. As for any bragging, all I can say is it's probably best to check your sources of info. As for the things I've said.....it's nothing anyone else hasn't already said. Best thing for you to do is worry about what goes on in the Fountain City area and accept that you are no longer a part of the Powell community. I expect nothing more to be said regarding this situation.
  5. I do want to say that I've heard nothing but good things about Tony Lambert coming outta Anderson County. Word has been that he was the brains behind Kerr's success. I just wanted to add too, that based on what else I've heard, this guy deserves to be a head coach and I certainly believe that even if Powell doesn't get him, then surely some place like Alcoa might scoop him up.
  6. maybe you should direct that to the guilty party.
  7. First of all Kelly Robinson (by your own admission), you don't know me, nor my family so please stop posting messages as if you do. No one really appreciates you coming up here posting material that isn't relevant to the topic. Secondly, regardless of how "honorable" your intentions are by attempting to "stalk" people online to see if you can find out who they really are, you aren't right about me being "Denise" either. Having said that, why would she care about any of this to begin with? Your actions of exploitation are malicious and I suggest you back off. Furthermore, whether you agree with my opinions or not regardling Matt Lowe, it does not justify your accusing me of "bashing" him. If Lowe is attempting to obtain a job where he has responsibilities that pertain to kids, then I have the right to voice my opinion. And if you believe for one moment that your attempts to find out my identity will keep me from saying that Lowe isn't qualified, you're mistaken. He isn't and there are PLENTY of folks with your so-called "PhDs" who will agree. Don't try to include me in your good ol boy banter or club. Like I've said before, this isnt a popularity contest of who likes who the most, it's about who is qualified and what is best for the football team.
  8. hey I've said nothing personal...if you take it that way then I guess that's your problem....I could easily say youre a classless bunch as well to come on here and personally attack specific players from Powell....but that's not backwoods is it? whatever....and trust me, I have a life.
  9. Haha, I believe Greeneville is the one who started this thread, not Powell fans. And if you think you're gonna come on here and talk smack about the panthers, then just remember there's always someone here that will throw that back in your face. They've had a much more difficult time getting where they ended up than you have (need I remind you from 5th place to region runner up), and you need to respect that. But do you? no....you come on here and talk about how great you are and how bad they are. Get a clue. As far as eating crow? maybe you should remember that when you start talking about how you're gonna beat Hamilton. We'll all see how "great" you are your next game though. Best thing for you to do is start your Greeneville/Hamilton thread. yea well maybe you need to read some of the posts from Greeneville....then you might know what an insult is.
  10. and you really need to get a life and move on.....lol, like I said before GOOD LUCK!
  11. In spite of what you MIGHT think, basketball isn't "life" lol and I'm sure that the panthers would have loved to have gone, but I'm pretty sure with the way they've played the last two games, even they would admit they don't deserve to go. But like I say....good luck in your effort of striving to be the best!!
  12. and "yep" youre right too....all things happen for a reason...kinda like offering some folks the opportunity to get out of the back woods and see the big city...lol....I will say this though, I'm sure the panthers would rather be beat by 12 points than by the 50 that Greeneville is going down by in the state.....still good luck though!! We're all "rooting" for ya!
  13. what's so funny about this is that if you're referring to this post, I don'think anyone is being blamed for anything nor have I commented on anything that was not true about your team during the Land Air tournament. I suggest you direct your attention to your teams next game and stop giving a team that is obviously disappointed and play-weary a hard time. I said my congratulations, what more do you want?
  14. FURTHERMORE, hats off to the panthers on a long, hard fought season.
  15. yea whatever jerk.....just shows what you know. At least have enough class not to come on coacht and talk smack about the other team. Furthermore, hats off to the Powell Panthers on a long, hard-fought season. To the Greeneville Devils, congratulations on the victory and best of luck in the state. Represent East TN well.
  16. Who cares whose beat Powell. Fact of the matter is, guess whose here and guess whose not. Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, the panthers have proven that they don't have to win all the time to be the best...only when it counts! Go Panthers!!!
  17. uh yea, like it or not, it counts as a big W regardless of what you think. The thing is, if Powell's guards had been hot that game....it would have been a different story, but they weren't so no excuses.
  18. I don't think Powell is the one thinking they have this wrapped up. You all keep saying that Powell can't hang with ya, but I think you're gonna be surprised. That's all there is to it.
  19. dude, if you think you've got a 3 pt shooter anywhere near the player Tony White Jr. is, you are sadly mistaken. The score is misleading in the sense that White had help from Sibley, who was hot as well from the perimeter. And by the way, we beat Bearden in the season without Whilte. Bottom line, PRAY your outside pts are falling because if they aren't the panthers are going end your season tonight. And as far as who is going to guard Wiggins? He'll be taken care of. You better worry about how you're going to guard a barrage of rested panthers.
  20. DA?.....lol. That the best you got? Seems to me that's 50% with less playing time...yea, I'll agree it's March Madness....from 5 to 1 should tell you enough about Region II's "madness." Good luck!
  21. yea and if youre dumb enough to believe that junior can't be handled then you should be filling up a lot of balloons with all that hot air. Your boy best be staying out of the lane tonight because McGaha aint afraid to foul especially when he's got Conner and Smith to take care of the rest. Oh, and by the way...Powell's girls are already on the road to state....we'll see about the boys tonight. Guess both teams have that in common.
  22. and I think whatever type of game you want to throw at them, they are pretty capable of adjusting to it. Good luck to both teams!!
  23. First of all, Lee Smith is a D-1 football signee...but not for basketball as ironic as that is he is equally good in basketball but prefers football. "Old School" are players who can play a 1 as well as a 5 position. ...kind of like the way Powell did in their season...from 5 to 1 (but I'd watch out for back door cuts, you know how that goes.) "Position" players as the name implies, play positions. Anything else you need to know?
  24. I don't think he plays for Powell, does he? lol But not to take anything away from Powell, they have several players who are very good. Based on their height, they have a strong inside game playing two post who handle the ball as well as guards. Powell plays "old school" ball for the most part. They also have a strong bench with position players.
