No need to apologize. When you have a vested interest it's hard not to feel it. Have you ever seen the movie Varsity Blues? Sometimes it is a tough one to swallow for the parents. It's hard for the kids to lay it all on the line and have nothing to show for it. I played a little in Unicoi and know a little about losing. I guess maybe I just became accustomed to it. South has no reason to hang there heads. In life there is always a winner and loser, but I feel every kid on that night came away a winner.

You guys are correct. I need to stop whining. It's normally not my style. I just was so frustrated with this game I guess I was looking for any excuse to justify it. Bottom line is, we didn't take care of business and we have to pay the price. The parents take it harder than the boys I believe. If McMinn can hang onto the ball then they can make this game a close one. They have done a good job of limiting the turnovers the second part of the season and it has shown by going 4-1.

I like the fact that DB is not all that big at least when compared to Ooltewah, Farragut and Bradley becuase that gives McMinn a chance to slow the pass rush. When Ables has time he is effective but when he is hurried he tends to panic but has improved as the season has progressed in reference to the later.

I say DB will see many formations from the Cherokees and some they may not have seen on film as this offense has more become more complex as the season has progressed.

Sure the favorite is DB but McMinn is excited about the opportunity to play a team that is rich in tradition like the Indians and are confident that they will make this a competitive game.

I don't have to speculate that somehow a team that beat me 44-0 would somehow fall to my all white county team. C'mon now...South has always had players of color. Maybe not the color you are alluding to but currently we have that color also. I guess American Indians, Latin people, and yes Asian people are not the color you speak of. Fact is, some of our more celebrated athletes have been "non-white" people. We welcome people of all nationalities at South. We don't have issues with that as you imply. And it's not waiting 15 years for the right group of "boys" as you say...it has been many years waiting for the right coach. Let us give you our previous coach and see how your program does after about 6-7 years. My friend...make no mistake you have a wonderful tradition with accolades abounding. Most of the state is in awe. But look no further than Science Hill to see what happens when your football coach is substandard. How does SHHS do in other sports? Do not sit on your throne on high and assume that you are holier than thou and that you have superp genetic research producing the uppercrust of the best Top Shelf athletes in the state. No no little one, I'm not angry at all. I like winning. I don't have to wait 15 years to hope the right group of boys come through to give me something to cheer about. I don't have to speculate that somehow a team that beat me 44-0 would somehow fall to my all white county team. I don't have to pretend that I've ascended to unknown heights because we knock around Morristown East, Greeneville, and Tennessee High. Rather, I have enjoyed semi-final trips to watch my Indians play the likes of Murfreesboro Oakland, Riverdale, and Chattanooga Red Bank with a UT tailback. I've enjoyed watching the Indians end a 34 game winning streak for MBA and epic contests against Oak Ridge. Then I spend the remainder of the academic year watching our basketball team go to the State Tournament, or watching our baseball team advance to the final 8 multiple times in the past few years.

Yep. What about the girls that are treated badly and not such a good catch? Why is a specific school 'attracting' mistreated and gifted players? I know one girl that played at 3 high schools in 4 years. What's up with that?

 

AAU is the biggest culprit. The grass is greener because these girls have seen the grass on the other side. They've been invited to play with other girls from different schools and the rivalries sort of melt away. Hey. I could play with those girls and win a gold ball or have a better shot at a college scholarship or (insert reason here). I won't say it's right or wrong. It's just sad. I'm disappointed more than anything else I guess about the death of small community basketball in alot of places. It's more of a business now. What can you do for me?

tenn. girls basketball , was at it's best from about 92 to 98 always 3 or 4 teams ranked in the nation (oakridge, livingston acd. shelbyville, south greene , and white co. to name a few) even some netenn school could compete with them . sullivan east ,greeneville and kingsport. but it has changed the talent level is down all over the state
