  1. First of all CAK had to play us because we were in the same district, now that we are in a new one they don't need or have to play us. I understand they want a loss off their schedule. But Webb, who had beat us 17 times in a row at one point, to turn tail when things do not go thier way is chicken...

Never underestimate the ego of football coaches when it comes to Ws and Ls

The rest of the crap on here about recruiting is just that, crap.

  2. First of all, for the public schools you get what you pay for, do not not listen to politicians, fully fund education in our public schools, raise property taxes, build better schools, add technology, pay our teachers better and if you don't like the teachers in your school, elect a different school board, get a different superintendent, and most of all get involved in your kids school.ALL OF US HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN PRODUCING WELL ROUNDED EDUCATED ELECTORATE FOR OUR COUNTRY AND DEMOCRACY TO SUCCEED!!!

With that being said this whole split thing is a joke, people are so driven to have to have a winning football team, they want to eliminate all competition by hook or crook, believe it or not kids remember the Friday nights for a lot of reasons, the dances, the parties, the fellowship, spirit of community, and playing the game. The win is in playing, the lessons learned are team work, sacrifice, dedication.....if all you are telling your kids is win win win and championships are the only things that count you don't need to be in sports

  3. TSSAA is a Joke!!! It is about MONEY and not about the KIDS! Something needs to be done! Someone (maybe me if I knew how to go about it) needs to fight for the kids and get these rats out of never ever land and back to reality and what it is truely about: KIDS

Here is my feelings.....I have nothing to do with Sullivan Central. I don't know their football coaches name, basketball coach, or any sport for that matter. As a fan of high school athletics, here is what I see wrong with this cluster:

In this current bologna format, I understand that someone has to be the small guy. But something needs to be done so it can be somewhat LOGICAL. This current system makes no sense except a little bit in football.

    1. Sullivan Central enrollment is 1017. In EVERY sport but football, they are being asked to compete against schools such as Science Hill (2200), DB (1900), if they happen to beat these two in the region they face: Jefferson County (2150), then in sectionals HVA (1800), Farragut (1800) Bearden (1900). There is no way that this school can compete in any way in all the other sports at this school besides football!

    2. If every sport is done like football and there is 6 classifications then I can see them competing with schools like Ootlewah and Rhea Co with (1400). I understand football makes money!! I understand that if you go 6 classifications in everything it waters it down. But if it is truely about the kids, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!!!!

    3. My case that I would love to see happen: 4 classifications in every sport!

Class A: Low enrollment schools: 0-499

Class AA: Low - Med enrollment numbers: 500 - 899

    Class AAA: Med - High Numbers: 900 - 1300

Class AAAA: High enrollment numbers: 1301 - Blackman (2300)

P.S. I'm not even going to start with the privates and how that CIRCUS is going with the multiplier. I need to go to church and ask for forgiveness before I do that.

Knoxville Catholic High has 695 kids, we were forced to play 5a in a mostly 6a district, our kids go out and compete agaist these same schools, at least you guys have real 1000 kids to compete with.

  4. 1. New Field (Check)

    2. New District (Check) (maybe)

    3. New Coach???????????, ( Check at a later date) I guess two out of three not bad

It seems our expectations have dropped to the basement as we wish for a new district, what will be the excuse then HC????

You didn't play against Maryville, Farragut, Bearden, your mommy and daddy were in the stands chanting "we want Maryville", on night after beating fulton or ae. expectations dropped to the basement? finally get to play schools "our" size, not really just 5a schools not 6a.

  5. I teach at a parochial school, yes I have had to buy kids groceries, yes we have parents with drug problems, Yes we have parents that beat their kids, just because you are catholic and go to a catholic school, does not make you rich, we are not baylor, mccallie, ensworth type school. We should not lump parochial schools with private schools.

  6. My point exactly! The publics are bound to accept the kids with the parents who couldn't care less the difference between an 85.5 GPA(respectable)and a 95.5 average.Same with athletics, some households strive to involve their children in any extracirricular activity possible, including(and especially)sports,to promote a healthy, socialy adjusted childhood, and some who just want their "rugrats" to not bother them while they relax after a hard day at work. Then there are the parents(or lack of them) who's children are left with pitiful little or no supervision to their own ideas about homework, school, sports, and life in general...basicly doomed(with the occasional exception) to the hardscrabble life of undereducated poverty despite the best efforts of school and staff.Guess what...if they "catch the bus" that comes to your public school, that school is held equally responsible for the scores, graduation rates, conduct, and general well being of each child,no matter the support(or lack of)at home.Compare that situation to one in which tuition charges eliminate most uneducated parents' children from consideration,a much larger geographic area from which to "draw" students, and the abality to deny enrollment to "undesirable" students, and if by chance athletics matter...wink;)wink;)...the luxury of considering that attribute as well, and the recipe for well rounded children who participate in sports at a 70% rate(and happen to win state championships)is complete.Hardly a level playing field, multiplier or not.

Now look at it from the flip side, Public schools do not charge tuition, free books, free bus, kids are automatically zoned for public schools. All the public schools have to do, get tax payers to fully fund their schools, put a good product out there and you would not loose as many kids to private schools. So don't blame the private schools, blame the "we can do more with less" attitude a certain political party preaches. You get what you pay for!

  7. Come now, AC strong? all the coaches in the building refer to them as "apple turnover county" have we ever lost to them in football? If I am not mistaken we even payed Chucky-Doak $2000 to play us at home! Pemberton was the master of scheduling But that does not take away from the fact you beat very good fulton and AE teams and Pemberton did beat Webb 5x in a row, but don't dis our kids playing who they are playing.

  8. Who is complaining, I said we updated our competition, we are no longer playing: Stone Memorial (1-18), we are no longer playing Wartburg (0-20), we are no longer playing Sequoyah (3-17) The last 3 seasons Pemberton Coached the teams he faced were combined 144-153 record. The first 3 years of Meadows he has faced teams with a combined record of 172-127. Like I said No one is complaining. Yes Pemberton played Fulton and AE, but that was about it in his 3A district. Yes Livingston was good for one season. What you guys did then we are still proud of, but you can not compare apples and oranges.

  9. Wow great news for the players and the school, to bad we are spending so much on up grading our field and still have the same direction with our program, if your up grading the facility go ahead and up grade the coaching, I guess suitcase will stay to ride that check as long as possible.

First of all parents are donating all the money, so I guess they are pretty happy with how things are going.

Second of all we up graded our coach when we replaced the last one. Just like we up graded our competition when we went to 5A (while playing in a mostly 6A district)

  10. The program has underachieved in his first two season at Catholic in a big way. More kids go on to play at the next level out of that program than any other in the area during the previous two seasons, and you you can't get out of the second round....in 5A. I don't think playing a 5A schedule gets you much. Powell, West, Morristown West, Morristown East, Lenoir City, Anderson County, Seymour, South Doyle are improving at a greater rate than Catholic. You're on par with Central. You'd get past Halls, Clinton, and Cocke County. The only cycling going on at Catholic is a counter clockwise flush. You won't beat Webb for at least another four years based on program direction.

The program is in shambles. Period. The fault lies with the administration. Period. Not Pemberton, nor Rankin, nor Harbaugh can fix it unless and until the administration gets out of the way. Period. No coach who does the appropriate due diligence prior to accepting the job would take it given that both the previous and current coaches have had incompetent staff forced upon them. Meadows can't fix it, and nor does the administration want him to. Catholic has fundamentally decided against being perceived as any sort of "football factory" and that is fine. Just set the expectation there. 3-7 is OK, 3-7 is OK, 3-7 is OK.

Say what you will about Pemberton, but he got you past Livingston Academy, Fulton, AE, Webb, Baylor, and Memphis Mitchell for crying out loud. He apparently learned from the mistakes, corrected course in spite of the administration, and won championships. The concept of learning and correcting is something apparently lost on the current administration as well as yourself KCHSCoach. Learn to reinforce your argument rather than raising your voice son.

  11. The man does not make the playoffs for the first time, and you arm chair coaches act like the sky is falling, everything goes in cycle, the big wheel turns, KCHS will return to the top, but right now the cards are stacked against KCHS. We played a full freshman schedule, a full jv schedule, the kids hit the weights...what do you want? KCHS is a high school, we are talking high school sports, we don't recruit, we don't give scholarships, we are not a major university. In all of KCHS history we have only beaten webb maybe 10 times total. But for you people that think Pemberton walks on water....what happened when he played BGA the second time, or the year we played ND first round and got spanked, or the fact we beat LA the first time but again lost the second time, both at home. Kids are here for an education and to learn life lessons by playing sports....guess what you not always going to win. I am done talking to you armchairs, so go ahead say what you will, until we get moved to a 5A schedule all of our teams are going to have to fight an up hill battle..but our coaches and kids are going to give it their all.
