  1. To engage any of you guys in a factual conversation is pointless. FACTS ARE FACTS regardless of opinions or heresay. FACT:Your SRO was out of line! FACT:Your Cheerleader did get run over , unintentionally! FACT: Don Embry was not talking trash to your fans! He ignored a lot of profanity and obscene gestures toward him. I probably would be in jail had I been in his shoes.

I realize this website is operated from Lawrence County. I think that speaks for itself to the biased approach to everything being said about this issue.

  2. I heard most everything he said. Most of which was....."clear the gym"...."everyone needs to leave"..etc.... - Now if you would like to continue running him down, that is up to you. I was standing right there and heard it with my own ears. So, if you would like to keep spreading lies about this....i would suggest you be prepared for the consequences.

  3. I will make sure Don is aware of the accusations and i'm sure he will address those issues. I have known him for a long time and I know for a fact he and Whit taylor were on the spot to break up the chaos. I saw it with my own eyes and would testify under oath if necessary. Don is a class act. For anyone to say otherwise is slander.

  4. Coach- Don Embry and Whit Taylor go to most all of the away games for the express purpose of controlling their student section. This has been a standard practice for years among high school programs in the area. I'm sure that if Don and Whit had have gone to the student section and held them back off the floor we would be talking about a different controversy today. As far as fans taking responsibility.....I can't figure that out.. I don't have a dog in the fight other than witnessing a fiasco and the aftermath. Kids are being punished for a lack of adult leadership. No further comments are necessary because I know what is happening here.

Congratulations to Lawrence County for the best year they have had in a long time. Second place is a great accomplishment.

  5. Coach T, I'm sorry to disagree with you..but you need to ask this SRO officer for yourself. He was Standing in front of the LC student section taunting the shelbyville players as they tried to get off the floor instead of trying to control the student section from rushing the floor. So, apparently he was "OFF DUTY. Then he had the audacity to pin Kevin Thomas to the wall as he was trying to get the players through the crowd. The officer admitted that he did not think Coach Thomas intentionally ran over the cheerleader. The facts are...this is ugly...and with the proper administration it could have been avoided.

Unfortunately, the NCAA...oops i mean the TSSAA is flexing their muscles and punishing kids instead of dealing with the adults(or lack thereof).

  6. No one has mentioned the off duty officer that provoked alot of the altercations. What has been done about him? He should be setting an example rather than provoking violence and making threats to coaches. Its seems like the TSSAA is trying to act like the NCAA. Its called Extortion! I'm sure nothing will be done about the two referees that caused a lot of the tense atmosphere.

I'm sure there will be nothing done about the lack of administration from Lawrence County.

I think Shelbyville should just bow out of the tournament at this point and let everyone else have their fun. No reason to continue to be the whipping post.

  7. This was a total embarassment for Shelbyville! Giles Co. was well coached, well prepared and had the best quarterback in middle TN. but, there is no way Shelbyville should have been destroyed like this. Shelbyville has talent and doesn't seem to know how to use it at this point. They have looked unprepared in every game so far this year. When a team has difficulty getting 11 men on the field and can't line up properly , Talent cannot over come that. Maybe this coaching staff can get this straightened out soon. IF not we won't win many games left on our schedule. We are lucky to be 3-1 at this point. Hopefully, we will see a team prepared to play when they roll into Columbia next week.

  8. Your right it's a tiny gym. However, I'm sorry your an ignorant sore loser and you can say all you want from your couch, while I post next week in Mid. Tenn. Sorry we were better at shooting than you thought. And if you honestly think the refs were in your favor your crazy. I'm not saying they were against us, but they called some serious ghost fouls for against us. Get your facts straight while I can use my favorite statement...... Better luck next year.

I thought the officiating was fine on both ends of the floor. The officials didn't change the outcome of the game and thats a good thing.

    Good Luck!

  9. I was at that game (i am at every game) and i can assure you that we had alot more than 50-75 people there. We are only 25 minutes from Murfreesboro and always take a good crowd.

Im sorry but after being at Walker Valley on Monday night i must say this., Maybe it is because of the size of the arena in Murfreesboro. Walker Valley's gym makes it hard for anyone to hide. Please tell me that you guys fired the architect and the people who approved the building of your gym.

I say that with no disrespect and i wish you guys good luck in the State.

It seems that all of the newer schools are going to a small gym size for some reason. I can think of several new gyms I've been in recently that are way too small for the school. For Instance: Franklin Co., Blackman., Wilson Central., all of these have small gyms for the size school they are and have fairly new buildings. The older gyms like Shelbyville, Columbia, Tullahoma, Lincoln Co. etc..... hold way more people and have a lot of room for a crowd. I think its just a sign of the times.

  10. Thanks to you also. I enjoyed it as well. I don't get on here very often at all. And about next year? Who knows? WVHS is losing 4 senior starters. Both Cleveland (District) and Red Bank (Region) will be hard to beat next. But you never know, that's why they play. The kids off the WV bench this year may be stronger then we know. With SC's returning players, you guys should have a really strong chance at a State Tourney run next year.

Don't under estimate your younger guys. Its amazing how some of these kids grow in a year. You will be surprised. Good Luck

  11. My bad on the statement of confidence and focus. Knowing what you meant and remembering more of the game now, I beleive you are right. Maybe WVHS took Twilley out of his normal environment. He seems to be a really good athlete. I am sure he will bounce back nicely and make someone a good ball player at the next level. Best of luck.

Thanks for the dialogue on this thread, maybe we can do it again next year. Good Luck

  12. Great showing at Walker Valley last night. I was very impressed with the number of folks(especially students) that you brought to the game. I was pretty blown away.

Now, let me ask you this. A few years ago, Shelbyville probably had 50 to 75 fans for a semi final game at the girls State Championship semi-final game a few years ago. Just wondering if the girls still get little support(despite being a power house).

Typically the shelbyville girls and boys draw the same number. Starting in the early 80s until now the girls have taken huge crowds all over the country. I remember one year in the late 80s we traveled to Altoona, PA for a holiday tournament and out numbered the home team and that was 650 miles away. I'm not sure of the game you are talking about.

  13. You guys just can't even get close to admitting that WVHS had anything to do with Twilley having his worst game ever. I'd say it had to do with Brice Sharp and good general perimeter defense by Ware and Burrell as well. You just don't come into a sub state game over confident and a lack of focus.

The defense WV was similar to what we have faced all year. Twilley is use to a lot more pressure than that. My statement about over confidence had nothing to do with the way they came into the game. They were preparing for a close ballgame and a good team. They were focused for the first quarter and a half. I think the over confidence and lack of focus started at half time and I believe it was from one player....the key leader of the team. (Twilley) Your guys did a good job on defense, but it wasn't anything he hasn't seen all year. I think the difference came down to Twilley getting posted up down low. I believe he lost his offensive focus during that streak of time. It was a good tactical move to have your guy post him up because of the height advantage. You have to play both ends of the floor and Twilley wasn't there in the 2nd half. The way WV stayed with their gameplan and the execution of it was the real difference. They played a good solid defense but Twilley has handled the toughest of defenses all year and a lot quicker people guarding him. He didn't distribute the ball like he typically does and everyone that knows him will tell you he wasn't focused. Then WV made those mistakes costly. They put the ball in the hole when they needed to...and we didn't. End result you win... a good solid effort from your guys. Not taking anything away from them at all.

    Isn't Marable a senior also/

Marable and Starnes are both seniors but didn't start. I meant that our only senior starter was Deonta.

  14. I wasn't sure because I (we) have not seen Shelbyville play. I am surprised anyone would be over confident playing in any sub state game anywhere, against anyone. With your returning players, you should have another strong run at it next year. You are right about the draw. WVHS beat Science Hill in an early season play day (can't draw any real conclusions from that). WVHS beat Red Bank 3 times this year. It would be tough to beat them a fourth. That leaves Clarksville NE and Beech. It seemed like Bradley Central never got a good draw from this sectional.

I think they will keep RB in the opposite bracket if I heard correctly about the process. A middle TN team will probably be the draw.

  15. We had a YOUNG and NERVOUS ball team that slacked on defense! that's all u can say... plus a mismatch with twilley guarding someone over 6 ft. tall half the game didn't help either.

jtrott- I agree with your assessment about the mismatch. I didn't understand why twilley was guarding him once he started posting up. It was a huge mismatch and cost us some points in the paint. To me it looked like our senior and junior was the nervous ones.. Bobby Wilson and Seth Jarrell played their hearts out. Bobby ended up with 21 points and 18 rebounds- not to shabby for a sophomore.

  16. Seriously Dead Eye. It is obvious that Andrews and Twilley can and have had better games. And it appears that you have followed them all year and more, was WVHS's defense or defensive scheme different or better then the Eagles planned for, or was it just another tough road trip (travel, gym, etc...)?

From your's and other's posts, we were worried about the Eagle's aggressive style of play and of course, Andrews scoring ability. But, the defense was not much different then the top teams on our schedule. We were fortunate to get a win against a quality program.

I think the bigger surprise was Red Bank beating Oakland. What happened?

I don't think the travel or gym had any bearing on this game. We had a decent crowd there supporting the guys. The defense WV played was average compared to what we have faced all year. I think it came down to overconfidence after the first quarter of play. Twilley (our only senior) has faced people riding him like a rented mule most of the year. Last night he looked like a Sophomore. He was very careless with the ball which is very uncharacteristic. He has averaged 2 turnovers a game the entire season and had 9 in this game. His focus was not there. Our main concern was guarding the perimeter and we never really pressed until late in the game. You guys played solid enough defense to win this game. Bottom Line was execution. Good Luck next week. Raliegh Egypt, Bearden and White Station will be tough. Hope you guys don't get them in the first round. Another middle TN team or Science Hill would be a better draw for you.

  17. Not much on here from "OaklandPansies" and "DeadWoodDave" this morning.

    1. I guess the mediocre Region 3 stepped up last night. Congratulations to Red Bank and Walker Valley for representing East Tennessee and making it to AAA State.

    2. Shelbyville played good D, but no better then Red Bank, Cleveland, or even Tennesse Temple and Chattanooga Christian and I think the latter are single A.

    3. I was at the WVHS game and it looked like Andrews was rattled a little by seeing good D (2 3's, best shooter in the state?, David Ware made 5 3's).

    4. Twilley, quickest human in the state? He's quick and he's good. 5 points, costly technical, Burrel got 3 steals guarding him. Brice Sharp was the best point guard on the court last night. Makes you wonder???

You guys got to get out more often and watch a little basketball outside of your region before you get on here and start posting bs.

    Good Luck next year.

Deadwood Dave is here. Congratulations WV on a good win for your program last night. Mr. Twilley played his worst game in his high school career last night with 9 turnovers. Your team played their gameplan and it worked. 8 for 27 from the 3 point stripe will win a lot of games for you. David Ware played a great game and kept you guys in it during our first half run, he was the difference in the game in my opinion. Good Luck in the state tournament. I do think Shelbyville could win this matchup 7 out of 10 times , but you guys did it when it counted. Your coach did a great job and the players did well by following his lead. That says a lot about your teams approach. I hope you guys get a good draw in the State Tournament. Bearden and those teams from the west tn. region are tough. GOOD LUCK and thanks for the hospitality. I hope we can do it again next year. We started 3 sophomores, 1 Junior and 1 Senior last night so I think we will be pretty solid next year. Hats off to WV!

  18. Some of you guys are just plain idiots. Walker Valley isn't ranked three in state for no reason. They're good. Now, I'm not going to be as ignorant as some of you guys and say Walker by 40 or Shelbyville will win easy. It will be an amazing game and it will come down to who wants it more. Walker Valley hasn't lost a home game going back to three years ago. They can play. Now, I"m not saying Shelbyville wont play great defense cause I haven't seen them play. But four of our starters (Walker Valley) can make anything unless you block it when they are on. And FYI, Walkers gym is tiny. I hate it. When they built the school they expected less than 1000 students to go and we're well over 1400. The visiting side is rediculously tiny. It's kinda sad actually. However, don't make stupid comments on how Shelbyville has the best students (section) in the state. Has your team lost in your gym the past two years......I think they have.

I'm sure it will be a good game. Shelbyville has lost a couple of times at home in the past two years but the competition that comes in there is pretty tough. Invasion taking place Monday >>>> Walker Valley take cover ... us Shelbyville rednecks are on the way! LOL
