  1. Well I have no problem with the prices going up if we had the games at home!! Four home games and they up the prices /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> now something is wrong with that. amen on your busses to away games because we are going to need them

I just don't see the benefit in going so far from home when it will be so hard for people to come watch the boys play. I'm not the only one complaining about it and I won't be the only one letting the administration at Franklin know our disgust in traveling so far for so many games.

6 away games this year means 6 home games next year. Schedules are played in a home/away format for 2 years. You will play the same schedule next year as this year only the sites will be reversed. You will get the same number of home games in a 2 year span.

  2. It blocks the website it max(put this to get passed the blocking)preps.com

Here's another ranking organization. Apparently they did watch Oakland manhandle your defense. Oakland is #2 and Franklin is #5. http://bellsouthpwp2.net/p/o/powerrater/h-s-foot.htm

Ran the ball right down your throat with no receivers in the game...you knew it was coming. Would do it again, if we played today, tomorrow or next week. You were physically destroyed. You are welcome to scratch out Runner-Up on that silver ball and put ranked #1...even after being physically dominated. Whatever you want to do. Let me know when that #1 ranking includes a gold ball and a ring. Wah wah.

  3. Hey opps i did a typing error an approved website. unapproved website.com.

and did you even watch the game. Even though Oakland won, if there was a re do ,Franklin would win by 2 or 3 touchdowns.

Yes Franklin played their hearts out. it was just a fluke that the best team didn't win.

Can't wait till next year. Like to see Oakland get past the first round of playoffs. Franklin you have alot of talent returning for next year. I know Franklin didn't win state in 08 but Franklin is looking pretty fine for the year 2009

    You lost.

like i just quoted another Oakland fan. if the dolphins beat the patriots, Does that bean the dolphins are better? NO it doesn't and don't give me none of that thats not high school it different.

    In regular season

    Brentwood

and no ranking are opinions if so Franklin would be #1 in the state and Flordia would have been ranked #1 all year. So your mr thinks he knows it all

    You lost.

my opinion is Franklin #1 in state Fact. They are really #2. Fact Oakland is #3. Fact. unapproved website determines who is actually the best team by seeing how they face their opponent and how their opponent faces their opponents from the same or different regions and divisions. Fact. u think your a genius and every is dumber and more less than u.

    You lost.

I didn't even go to high school in Williamson County. Me and other Fans just stated a FACT and your whining because you really know i am right.

    You lost.

  5. I guess you haven't seen every site.

    http://bellsouthpwp2.net/p/o/powerrater/h-s-foot.htm

Franklin is #5 here and Oakland is #2. I'm sure they're wrong, in your biased book. None of these matter. Oakland was also "supposed" to lose to Ooltewah, Wilson Central, LaVergne, and Riverdale in the Massey Ratings.

We've heard excuses all year from almost every team after they got beat. Fact is, they got beat. By the way, that Gold Ball fits nicely in the trophy case.

  6. ok i know if your an Oakland fan you would say they was the best team. I am here to tell you if Oakland and Franklin played again, Franklin will win. Who ever scored last was the team who was going to win that game. It shouldn't have been that close. There is many flukes that happened that Oakland didn't even cause/ If you don't believe me, believe unapproved website.com or any other website that shows rankings in the state.

    Top 3 in Tennessee

    1. Memphis University

    2. Franklin

    3. Oakland

I'll take a gold ball over somebody's opinionated poll any day. Congrats on the #2 ranking and the silver ball. If they played...they did play. Oakland won. What makes you the best is not making those mistakes, whether Oakland caused them or not.

  7. all i can say is im excited... this is going to be a fun game... you can say franklin o line is weak and oaklands d line is just going to man handle them... the facts are this is one of the best o lines in the state if not the best... they have given up MAYBE 6 sacks all year.. with my boys C WALK and BIG I at tackles there isnt going to be any pressure.. you go inside you still arent going to get any pressure.. i think within the first 5 plays once the o line opens up a huge hole and ford gets to the second level.. runs over your "physical" line backer then breaks your safetys ankle and scampers into the endzone.. you all will realize that maybe you arent as physical as you thought... once that happens the doubt will start creepin into your heads.. i hope your safetys ankle isnt actually broken and i wish good health on everyone... congratulations on getting this far oakland...good luck

    Franklin 28

    Oakland 7

Good call. Completely dominant last drive. Everybody knew it was run, but it didn't matter. Physically dominated the defense.

  8. I think people truly expected that he was out for the rest of the season. When I was asking around, the general consensus was that he was done for the season. Apparently, he is either insanely tough or it is just an ACL sprain instead of a tear.

Torn ACL and a tough kid.

  9. Best defense in the state? Region 4-5A is tuffer and Oaklands D dominated and nearly shut out the back 2 back state champs! We have the best defense in the state.Ooltewah has gven up 100 points this year and Oakland has given up 107. Both have great defenses .

    Oakland-10

    Ooltewah-7

Oakland played one more game than Ooltewah. Both teams are very tough defensively.

  10. Guys,

Couldn't believe I did not see a thread about this topic, so here it goes. This situation is pretty dadgum comical to me.

    1. Quarterback comes off the field mouthing off at the coach.

    2. Coach puts him in his place using a "little" force.

    3. Kid goes home and tattles.

    4. Daddy gets all PO'd.

    5. Dad goes into administration.

    6. Coach and player get suspended.

Does anybody else here on the board that is over the age of 25 or so, and played high school ball, find this absolutely comical. Look, its not OK to be beating on kids and stuff.

HOWEVER, if a player comes off cussing at his coach, there used to be an unwritten rule that you were placing your own life at risk at that point.

Look, I'm biased. I know Arcentae Broome, I like Arcentae Broome, and I KNOW he loves coaching kids. He probably needs to pick a better way to deal with this situation next time by placing Mr. Spolied Brat on the pine, and let that do the beating for him.

This pandering of teenagers has just got to stop somewhere. It was not like he slugged the kid or anything. I would have loved for this kid to play for a Doug Mullican. Warren Dunn, Tommy Owen, Cornelius Ridley, or some of those other old school guys and seen what would have happened. Those coaches would be in jail today for some of the things they would have done to him!

Parents have completely sissified football at Mcgavock High on this one.

    What do you guys think?

I played for Warren Dunn and we had a "cussing incident" at an away summer scrimmage. Coach helped to "break up" the little altercation and when we got back to Blue Hole Road, he ran the guilty party, in uniform, for about an hour on the track. Things have certainly changed.

  11. WOW, I was flabbergasted to see that Wells is already back at Blackman!! I hope he takes it easy!

Scrimmages are opportunities to teach, and for kids to learn to hit others besides their teammates. I disagree, scrimmages need to help build confidence to YOUNG inexperienced players. I have seen many a PLAYER emerge from them that might not have gotten a good look at a practice.

    [/quote

If you are not getting a "good" look from your opponent, the success you achieve is fleeting. It is only my opinion, but if you want to prepare for a challenging season you have to work against good people. Keep in mind Riverdale hasn't lost a region game since Clinton was president. It is different with Oakland....they are the ones who should be scrimmaging the weaker squads.

    Good call Blueraiderfan.

    Good call.

  13. I think part of it is that the perception is that teachers dont make any money so they look elswhere for a job coming out of college..you know ..teachers do not do that bad...they make a pretty good salary for onyl working 10 months a year...if i had to do over again i would go to school and be a teacher but i am a 37 year old man now and the last thing i wanted when i was an 18 year old punk was to do more school...if we can get more of our kids to really see the benefit with working with the youth and the benefit of coaching a team and watch those kids grow from the lessons they learn on the feild or court more of the young ones would become teachers and coaches

I coach two sports and I hate to break it to you, but I have never seen 10 months a year, much less 8 hour days. Everybody who thinks it is 8 hour days and ten month years needs to give it a whirl.

  14. All I can say about Coach Whit was he was a great man and he truly cared about all of his players. One of the funniest things I remember is when he and Coach Wilson would "get after" each other. They would make fun of one another during practices and we would all try not to laugh. Coach Dunn, Coach Wilson, and Coach Whit made a lasting impact on my life. I now coach high school football and that staff is the one that made me feel as though that was my calling. Great men.

Heartfelt sympathy from Knox. Halls goes out to Barbara, Derek & all of the Blue Bear Nation.

Coach Whit was all about the kids. He showed his players & grapplers every practice, every day.

His loyalty to Coach Dunn & the Antioch program was second to none.

Heres something personal; my fondest memory of Coach Whit's caring for his players.

We were at a multi-team summer football camp.

It was after lunch break. Weather was hot, hot, hot.

We were supposed to be dressed & back on the scorching field at 1:00 sharp.

Stupid sophomore me was talking to my girlfriend on the phone & lost track of time.

1:08 pm & I remembered. I was in deeeeep trouble.

I quickly hung up (no cell phones then) put pads back on, ran across campus to the field where we were practicing.

No one but Coach Whit saw me running back toward the field.

Then I saw Coach Whit get several other players to quickly line up, shoulder to shoulder, to block Coach Dunn's view toward me so I could sneek back over without him seeing me.

I just knew I was in for a big discipline session or two.

    It never came.

To this day, I do not know if Coach Dunn ever saw me or if Coach Whit ever told him, but I forever after held Coach Whit in the highest esteem. I owed him big time.

This may seem like a trivial thing to others, but it made a lasting impression on a certain young sophomore thirty something years ago.

I have tried to emulate Coach Whit's compassion when I am involved with kids & at work.

I am sure other of Coach Whits players & grapplers have thier own stories similar to this.

    Now thats COACHIN!

  15. very funny

If you really want to go back, my Dad and uncle played for the Kenton Warriors in the 60's. My Granddad was the bookkeeper and the announcer. Doug is my Dad and Ren is my uncle. My Granddad is Finley Linnell. I even have a t-shirt from the school when I was 12 in 1983. They have all since moved away. My Dad was the 10th highest scorer in the state during his senior year in 1968.

  16. lol looks like the slingin pup got busted.

I don't know what your problem is. I would assume that everyone knows who I am. I have never tried to "not get busted" if you're talking about someone trying to keep their identity secret. I have answered any questions anyone has asked me. I would think it was pretty obvious, considering I mainly post my opinions on the OHS and the Antioch threads. I guess if it's a problem, I won't post any longer. Sorry you have such a problem with me stating my opinions.

BTW, you're right about Moose. He is one of the best coaches I have ever been around. I would say he is a near genius as to how to stop the opposing offense's favorite plays. It is amazing to watch.

  17. Go get certified and apply at Cane Ridge, depending on the coach. I think it would be a good fit for you. Don't wait long to go get certified, it will be easy to talk yourself out of going back to school. While you at it, start your master's as well.

RTB, I put a comment on your profile.

  18. He can and will win. We have all the ingredients to make it happen at OHS with him at the helm. He has proven he can beat teams in our region already. Great work ethic, disciplined, teaches fundamentals, demanding, and fair. Plus he has the respect of other coaches, fans, and his players. I have raved on and supported him and his team on here for yrs. Two of my old CoachT buddies were past players of his and they would STILL go to war with the guy. Both will be happy to see him come our way b/c they know I will fight for him on here.

Has he been in this region before, beaten teams in our region from a different region, or both? I have a guess that puts this guy in a different county right now.

  19. Well it seems like all the "old timers" know the answer. I just hope the "young pups" aren't disappointed after such a big buildup. One of the best coaches in the state??? I guess that description depends on your viewpoint. As long as he can win..........BRING HIM ON!!

I heard a lot of different things this week. I mainly heard that the new guy's team is still playing.

  20. 2 much emotion=hothead=flags=you??

great relationships dont always = respect 4 a coach

imho only 1 asst. coach earns the rite 2 stay

    coach moose

    my cuz needs discipline

    coaches aint in hs anymore

    u aint there 2 b their friend

    clank clank

I never saw one flag on the Patriot sideline during Ferg's entire tenure. Maybe there were some, but I didn't see any. Emotion does not necessarily equal hotheads. I didn't say the coaches needed to be jerks, but if that's how you read it, sorry. My oldest child goes to school there and I would just love to see them get back to the winning ways that I saw before we became involved with OHS. My high school coach was very laid back and we won a lot of games, but I don't know if that type of coaching works with today's players.

  21. Well to be honest, when you have a great coaching staff like Oakland does, its not just Randy King, Gary Johnson and Kevin Woodson, both of whom who very successful as head coaches deserve just as much credit. But when you have a great staff like Oakland does, it offsets alot of shortcoming that you could potentially have, thats not say that Oakland's success is all about coaching, the players have to execute no matter how good the gameplan is. I do like the young talent that is coming up for the Patriots, instead of having a so-so season I think were going to have a good season by our standards with a chance to go back to the glass hourse every year for a while. But I think we find out in these next 4 games how good Oakland really is................

Speaking of young talent, I saw our freshman boys play for the first time against White County this past Thursday. All I can say is WOW! There's a bucketload of athleticism on that squad.
