I had the pleasure of getting to know coach Martin when I played (back in the day, right Devil) and he's a great coach.. Became friends with many of his players.. They never once complained of favortism on or off the court.. Never compained about PT.. And he had some very good teams too.. Worked his bench very well.. I don't think the problem is the coach... But I think it most definitely is a selfish player.. I had to climb my way up the ladder from the time I was a Fresh until I was a senior.. Never seen the floor until I was a Junior.. and although I may not have been the best player I gave it everything I had night in and night out and I was proud of myslef even if nobody else was.. So I think you need to look at your game and start workin now and try to improve and prove to Coach Martin you belong on the floor.. I'm sure he won't have problem playing you if just show him you can run with the big dogs! Good luck to DC in districts.. Does anyone know if woody is still involved with the program or what he is doing now?

Haha I think I could find my way around a court! I did my fair share of playing back in the day haha.. Still miss the heck out of it though.. Big Daddy not so sure about selling popcorn /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> haha , but the kid is an exceptional player.. Never seen a guard his size control a game like he does.. If he was a little taller the kid is major D-1 material.. I think he makes his team better every night! Whether its scoring 20 plus or dishin to the hot hands!I think he is very deserving of the MVP!

I don't think Clay laid down.. I think the zone really bothered them.. JC played very well.. Didn't execute on a bunch of lay ups that could've put the game away early in the second half and let Clay stay close.. Clay didn't execute against the zone very well.. JC did a great job of contending every shot and rebounding.. Never let clay get comfortable.. made them shoot shots that they didn't necessarily want to take.. WOW! Just like a PC fan to get complimented on their play and still bash other teams.. I just wrote in the comment above that PC is the favorite.. but you take that and bash JC and Clay.. So I hope you get to stick your foot in your mouth.. I'd cheer for any team in the tourney except PC! So whoever the other 3 teams are in the region I hope they do well.. PC I COULD CARE LESS!

I would love to watch this game! SC has a phenominal player in Jenkins.. The kid can flat out play! But do they have enough to run with LA.. LA has about 9 or 10 that can sub in and out and not lose much talent.. Dunn is an exceptional player as well.. he scores, passes, creates, he does it all well too.. I think if these two meet up it will be a good one! I'm sure BigDaddy will be there cheerin on the wildcats... Good luck LA!

Pickett is definitely the team to beat.. JC and Clay are right there with them.. JC played very well against Clay last night.. Never let Clay get in a rhythem.. The zone seemed to bother them ALOT! I think if JC could play like they did last night it will be an interesting tourney.. But thats only IF! Never count out Clarkrange.. They always seem to find a way to stir things up come tourney time.. knocked off JC last year and still has some talent to make a run.. But I think Pickett JC and Clay are too string.. I haven't kept up with 8A this year.. I know westmoreland was playing some good ball at the Nera White tourney.. but I think it will be 7A show this year! Good luck to all the teams this year.. Hope to get to see some exciting match-ups!

1st of all they put time back on the clock because The Coach told the official if they were to score a basket he wanted a time out.. And he called the time out actually a little before they stopped the clock.. 2nd I don't think coaching had anything to do with the JC players taking shots with a comfortable lead with less than a minute and a half.. Actually there was an instance where #44 took a shot and missed and it led to a Clay Co three and the coach called time out to explain to the players why they don't take shots like that with that amount of time left.. I thought the officials did a decent job.. Still way too many fouls called.. and the Technical was a joke.. Brandon Kerley is a passionate player and he wasn't doing anything disrespectful to that ref he was upset with himslef for making a bad decision and was talking to himself.. I saw several times where a Clay co player threw his hands up in the air and was questioning a clear call.. A reaction that was a much clearer technical call than the one that was called.. I thought that was a very premature call by that particular ref.. But at the end I thought they did a phenominal job of keeping the time and watching the coaches.. AND LETTING THE PLAYERS DECIDE THE GAME! It was definitely a great game to watch.. Kind of a flashback to 4 years ago in Clay Co when Jackson Co won on a buzzer beater.. Good job boys now its off to the Wheel as they call it and hopefully play with the same heart and intensity as you did at Clay who knows maybe SOME PPL UNDERESTIMATED you once again.. Only time will tell and its yours for the taking.. Give it all you got and remember its only a game.. No matter anyone says Basketball is FUN so enjoy it while you can! I agree senator. I guess it goes with being at or near the top each year. I know three girls that have played at jc and none were recruited by jc. Eat your hearts out you, you critics, but the truth is JIM BROWN is to smart to try something like that. Someone would spill the beans sooner or later, and he knows that. If your honest about it if you have a talented child, don't you think they would be a better person period , because they were around jim brown, and his supporters at J.C.. They instill disipline, manners, and prepare them for adulthood, other thanClarkrange I don't know of another district school that does it They just do sports, and when these young people become adults they can figure the rest out for themselves. ok just so everyone on here knows molly heady is not going to move i thought that was funny when i heard it sounds like someone doesn't know their players.....more info on heady HER DAD IS THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH THERE AND LOVES IT!!...end of story and as of coach brown recruiting HAHAHA so funny the parents watch him coach and talk to him after games and fall in love with his work ethic and love for the game and thats when they know this will give my kid not only a better chance to play at the next level but in life! and ive talked to laken personally and she knew if she moved it would only turn for the good and everyone thinks that these players would leave their friends just for a sport no they want a better life too.....and oh yea no one ever said anything about when misti maxwell moved here as freshman from baxter??? and never really started talkin about the twins untill they started showin talent....but as soon as anyone finds out about laken moveing is all over jim brown cheats he recruits.....he is just one of the best high school coaches ever put it in stone.......oh yeah JACKSON COUNTY BY 20+ and emily bowman with a break out game

He may float but last time I checked 5 steps was a walk! Refs should pick up on that in a hurry thats what they get paid for!

I will give it to Wright the kid can play.. But He gets away with way to much! I saw atleast 5 or 6 times he spun then jump stopped and took two steps to the basket.. Now maybe Allen Iverson can get away with that in the NBA but not in high school basketball THAT'S A WALK! O and another thing they called an offensive foul on Kerley when Capps was smothering him but yet when Capps rebounds and holds the ball like a football and pushes everyone away with the other arm is that not the same thing? There were alot of missed calls on both ends! I saw clear push offs on both loftis several times and Wright several times.. But what really got me was when Kerley was going for the ball and Gibson nearly clothes lined him and Kerley went down they kept letting the game on for another minute! When a player is down thats a dead ball as soon as possession is taken by whoever! That was totally uncalled for! And 7ASuperFan Looks like you are gonna get good treatment at JC and the Wagon Wheel this year.. But the score doesn't tell the game it was alot closer than that!

I think this game may turn out alot differently than people may have anticipated.. Now i've heard from some that Capps is back and some that Capps is gametime decision and Blah Blah.. Well If he is back then Pickett will have a better chance but if he is out then I think J Co has the better chance.. They got Loftis back after he thought he was out for the season.. He's back from a seperated shoulder and may not be an offensive threat but he will definitely be a defensive presence!.. I am excited to go watch this game I think it will be a good game to watch but JC is gonna have to bring their A game to win tonight.

I'm gonna take the boys in blue tonight.. They are hyped and they have nothing to lose.. they aren't supposed to win tonight but they expect to win so I think they are going to put it all on the line and leave everything on the floor!

Watched the game last night.. Thought it wasn't going to turn out in my favor after C-range went on a 7-0 run to start the game but ait seemed after that it was all Jackson County.. Kerley and Crowder played exceptionally well.. As well as Robinson pulling down some nice boards.. what was the deal with Clarkrange though.. Upchurch with a T and another player (#11) with an intentional foul.. seemed as if they weren't there to play basketball instead they wanted to jaw with the ref and hurt someone.. The intentional foul was uncharecteristic and that player should've been ejected.. there is no excuse for that.. I thought JC stepped up when they had to and I think if they keep playing like that they will be just fine.. Good job boys

If you showed up for this one you got a good run down of a great basketball game thrown away by slacking referees.. I've played many games and watched a lot of them as well, but that bunch of whistle blowers was terrible.. What was a walk on one end was nothing on the other.. If it was over the back on Upperman it was a clean rebound for JC.. I mean I can understand you are not going to catch every call (I do my share of calling games) but come on you got to catch atleast one call.. I don't think they called an offensive foul all night! Which is shady to me considering both teams scored 90% of their points in the paint! I was very upset with the turn out! I think at one time Jackson County had 6 or 7 straight trips where they called fouls on them.. I think that with a decent set off refs this games would've been a much better game than it really already was.. I mean even with refs they had it was never out of reach for either team.. They had a really good chance to make it deep last year but they let a big head get the best of them! But yes they have very much potential lying within them.. I watched them play a very talented Oliver Springs team and they lead the ENTIRE game! they never let OS make a run.. I was very impressed with the DEFENSE!! It was all in your face pressure defense! I LOVED IT! Looks like the old ball coach got them boys in shape this year! Good luck blue devils maybe if you stay under the radar this year you won't get the big head.. Got some good talent coming up.. Wish the little Allen kid wasn't hurt so he could get some serious minutes! Senator you are right! I don't think anyone will run the table this year.. Heard J county played good at macon.. Glad to hear it.. But you guys don't need to swell up just yet.. You guys have a favor to repay from Regions last year.. I think everyone is pushing ya'll to the side thinking since ya'll lost so much that you won't contend.. Let them think that.. JC was DEEP last year and they have some players that can flat out play.. And i'll bet coach Flynn and Coach Godwin is telling you the same thing! So play heard and do the talking on the scoreobard! by the way does anyone know how the scoring went for the blue devils last night?

I was just askin the other day when someone as going to get on here and make a fool of themsleves saying that this district is going to be dominated by Pickett.. I think everyone knows that any of the top 4 or 5 teams in this district is capable of being beat on any night 1 through 5..

Given that Pickett has been at or near the top and returning 4 of last years region runner-up team they will be the team to beat..

Clay improved tremendously last year and I said from day one that they would be a solid team by the end of the year.. But they are not going to win the district i'm sorry.. They have the talent and the coach don't get me wrong but they just don't seem to win the big games.. Birdwell won't turn Clay into a championship team .. He is good probably one of the best in district but i just can't see him doing that much this year with the team Clay has.

I still think that everyone is counting Jackson Co. out way to soon.. Remember this is the team that ran the district regular season last year and had 10 or 11 or even 12 players putting points on the board every night. Last time I checked you only need 5 to play so thats some depth i'm pretty sure.. They still have a few big time players and will be a very competitive team this year..

Clarkrange well everyone usually counts them out too but Upchurch is a baller.. I don't think one man can carry a team through the whole season though.. He doesn't have snow to clean up the boards for him this year so i'm sure they will in the top 4 but probably 3 or 4

ok......i hear all these names and they are pretty big schools........im sure none of ya'll have visited Jackson County baseball feild A.K.A. Alex Cassetty Memorial Feild House...but it is so beautiful.....and not to say its a 7a school.....the coach of Jackson County baseball team Kevin King works his butt off everyday to keep it well kept.....it is a beautiful sight when u come over it at night when the lights are on....its just perfect!!
