  1. You may be right - I don't know what Maplewood has back or new; however, CPA was a little better than Maplewood, IMO, last year, and they have 90+% of their scoring back, sophomores who now have a full year's experience competing, and a couple of new additions. CPA will be much better, and is hard to imagine Maplewood keeping up with that.

And, even with Lindsey getting a lot of hype, Bradshaw will be the one who will impress everyone with his play his senior year. He is doing very well for the Travelers in nationwide tourneys this summer.

Hasn't CPA supposed to have won it the last 3 or 4 years but the seasons tend to end early? Why?

  2. I think it is funny that when Franklin was 9-0 nobody was complaining. They lose a few and it's coach Johnson and the defense, and that he can't motivate. So who got the credit when Franklin was 9-0?

I love how email and message boards give people the "hidden freedom" to voice their opinions about coaching and playing time, as if complaining about playing time and how the coach operates is going to get your kid on the floor more?

If I can give you one piece of advice.....

Please don't use message boards and screen names to throw backhands at what the coach is doing, who he is playing, or how he motivates.

It's obvious you don't like the way coach Johnson is coaching, you have 2 options, to deal with it and move on or to remove yourself from the situation.

Questioning who plays.....what is this pee wee basketball?

  3. I am not sure who you are, you either changed your screen name or you are brand new and trying to stir stuff up.

It's evident you don't know much about basketball. Relating coach Webb's football defense to how coach Johnson teaches defense is like comparing Bobby Cox's defensive philosophy to Dean Smith's. Comparing football and basketball, that's funny. Coach Webb does a great job, but seriously, lay off the paint chips.

I guess the the 1-3-1 had nothing to do with beating Maplewood last year, And this year Siegal, Overton, and LaVergne, 3 teams in the top 10.

Since you know so much, you should know that the 1-3-1 has man principles, but it gives teams a chance with lesser god given athletic ability to compete against teams that out-athlete you.

But, I am sure you know that....

Tha last two losses Franklin has held the opponent in the 50's, and Franklin has scored in the 40's, If you would have been complaining about offense I could see why, but anytime you hold a team under 60 points in high school you have done you job.

So, I think offense is the issue right now.

Like I said, it worked against 3 of the best teams in the mid-state...and with Franklin's substate run last year.

Heck, lets go get Monte Kiffin to help with coach Johnson's defense.

  4. From a Franklin fan, let me say congrats to Hunters Lane. That was the most disciplined Metro team I have seen in a while. Coach Sewell did a fine job and his kids nailed some big shots and free throws down the stretch.

Still proud of my Franklin squad, they still have a one game shot to make it to state!

Franklin at Beech Monday @ 7:00.

Hope the Franklin students make the trip!

  5. Big time congrats to Jay Johnson and his Rebels. Some had written these guys off heading in to post-season play. All I can say is Franklin is playing for a Region title on Thursday, with a one game chance to head to the state tournament on Monday. Hard work has paid off for seniors Young, Henry, Miller-Mac, Haddix, Glover, Starnes, and Lindsey. Also have to give props to Pace coming in off the bench last night!

Should be a fun Region title game with Hunters Lane.

Coach Sewell does a good job with his kids, and they play very hard and fast!

Congrats once again to the Franklin players, coaches, and fans: WELL DESERVED

  6. I have no kids of age to play at Hillsboro. But I do have ties to a few players on the team. It would be foolish of me to "out" them and ruin their remaining career. But all is not happy at Hillsboro.

And to the prior replies; I'm sure you want Rodney to stay at Hillsboro. You have ties to Williamson County schools and his style is just like you like it. If they played more up tempo and used their athletes properly I don't think you guys could hang.

Hang with who? Franklin has won the reg season district 5 years in a row? You are way off base.

  7. For years everyone has known that Hillsboro is playing with a loaded deck. OPEN ENROLLMENT. How is it that their basketball team never wins anything (save district tournament 08')??? They always have talent but always seems to just get by. The truth is the mens basketball coach can't coach. People have been dancing around this issue for the entire time Rodney has been there. He stinks. He is without question the worst coach in metro. With the talent he has, he seems to only win on talent. In the games I've viewed, talent has carried that team. His coaching is a hinderance to the schools talent level. AM I WRONG? Tell me; Is it time to find a new football and basketball coach??? People always say that Hillsboro doesn't have great community support. Has anyone noticed that their coaches don't get out in the community? Nearly everyone knew Coach Blade (former football coach) was using Hillsboro (and its talent) to work his way towards Knoxville (his dream job... UT STAFF). He didn't care about the workings of the Hillsboro community. And that was ok because he TAUGHT football at a high level. WIN-WIN. Hillsboro could have hugh support and gates if the coaches and faculity acted like they wanted it. It has Green Hills, Edgehill and Antioch (where most kids come from). Hillsboro deserves to get coaches who can capitalize on the great gift it has; TALENT. It is the jewel of metro and should be treated as such!!! Getting coaches who can coach is a start!

I do not include the girls basketball coach in this statement. SHE KNOWS HOW TO HANDLE TALENT AND CAN COACH!!!

    Wake up Burros!!!

Another classic case of someone hiding behind a screen name to oust a coach. If you feel this strongly, be a man and stand behind what you say, don't hide behind a message board screen name. Wow, you should be proud.

  8. Whitlock at Ravenwood has done a solid job. These people saying Ravenwood and Hillsboro need to make a change have NO clue what they are talking about. Ravenwood has a very solid young group. I love it when people hide behind screen names to "oust" coaches. Posting on coach t is fine, but when you start calling for coaches to be fired be a man don't hide behind screen names. Whitlock and Thweat are fine coaches and should be left alone.

  9. Brentwood 58 Franklin 51

Franklin led 30-20 at one point in the third.

At the end of 3, it was 32-27.

Brentwood then exploded hitting 8 threes in the 4th and the extra frame combined.

Krow hit 3 of them that got Brentwood rolling.

Franklin played solid D for three quarters but could not score down the stretch.

Both teams played hard, crowd was good, but Brentwood hit shots down then stretch and Franklin did not.

  10. You may be right about beating Franklin 3 times in a row, but please enlighten us as to how Brentwood was "fortunate" to win the first two.

As a franklin fan, I was very impressed with brentwoods last 2 victories over franklin. I do not feel brentwood was fortunate, they just flat out played better and beat the rebels. Round 3 should be fun, with a number 1 region seed on the line.
