Coach Kyle doesn't coach Columbia. He has not coached them the past two years. Coach Thais Yancey coached the team last year and this year the coach was Laken Stutts and Kristin Marks helped.

Columbia beat Tullahoma 3-0 tonight in the 8AAA District Championship. Columbia will host the Region 4AAA Tournament.

Region 4 Tournament was tonight with Columbia and Tullahoma of District 8 and Riverdale and Siegel of District 7. siegel easily won over Tullahoma 3-0 in the early match and it was Riverdale winning in a very close match 3-1 over Columbia. Columbia came to Regionals very well prepared with a new coach and gave Riverdale a vedfy good match. Coach Thais Yancy brought the International flavor to the Tournament as the Brazilian born coach raised the level of play at Columbia quite a bit over last year. In addition she brought Maya Hunter an outside who played very good and led Columbia in kills.

The finals between siegel and Riverdale was another one of those legendary matches. Riverdale won the first game easily and after that the next three were Seigels and the Tournament. Siegel stays at home and will play Ooltewah Thursday and Riverdale will go to Soddy and play there.

These Regionals were very good and the crowd was very good and loud.

Name correction the outside hitter for Columbia is sophomore Maya Horner.

Congratulations to all teams! Columbia has been a strong team for a few years now & their coach is very knowledgable in the game of volleyball, I also hope that he received the "Coach of the Year" award! Tullahoma has also been working hard to move up in ranks. Great job for both teams, GOOD LUCK in Regionals! Guess LCH not having any power hitters or seniors on their squad may have contributed to their drop in rankings! Maybe next year they will be back as a contender.

 

Girls have fun at Regionals & remember to keep your head held high no matter the out come at Regionals! All the girls are winners just for their willingness to play sports, keep up their acedemics, social & family life!

Columbia Central won the district 8 AAA tournament. Tullahoma placed 2nd in the tournament.

Then it may be the reason but its been obvious for a couple of years a move was afoot to strengthen the sport. Who is coaching the Club in Columbia Now? Could you tell us the background of Coach Yancy and if she is a teacher there? For those fans who did not know Thais Yancy is the first year new coach at Columbia Central and won the regular season championship for 8AAA this year..

I don't know her complete bio but she is from Brazil and played there and played in college in the Florida. She coached in Florida before coming to Tennessee.

MM, I'm not sure anything happened which is terribly wrong. What seems to have happened is the District has gotten quite stronger. Lincoln is about at the same strength. Columbia is making an effort to run away from the pack but Coach Kyle is also making an effort to raise the level to compete in the Region. That will be difficult but its obvious he is making an effort.

Coach Kyle is no longer the coach at Columbia Central. Thais Yancey is now coaching the team and doing a great job so far. She has a lot of playing and coaching experience.

Does anyone know the schedule for the Sonic Blast Tournament hosted by Franklin High School at A Game this weekend?

I have researched this site. This is a legitiment site and opportunity. The plan is to get athletes exposed to college coaches on all levels. It also gives them an opportunity to train with the best players from TN and other states in a tournament format. I believe it's a worth while investment. Very affordable to begin the process based on other recruiting measures that may not be visible to many schools on a higher level.

Know district 8 AAA will be playing at Columbia. Does anyone know the time & schedule for Thursday?

Lincoln Co vs Lawrence Co at 5:30p and the winner plays Columbia at 7p for the championship

Being friends with the players was not Eady's only problem. His biggest problem was trying to make basketball players out of talentless girls. I have watched Culleoka play for several years now and I can honestly say I only saw 2 players with talent. It wouldn't matter if Pat Head Summit coached those girls they still wouldn't win over 2 games a season. The parents in Culleoka need to wake up and smell the coffee because those girls couldn't beat Whithorne's Jr. High team. The only reason they beat Mt. Pleasant is because their best player was out hurt. And if the girls had all this talent that the parents think they have it wouldn't matter who was coaching them. If they are that talented they can get out there and win no matter what. I haven't seen this talent that they see. Also you can't compare how they played in Jr. high to High School because they never played anybody outside of Maury Co. in jr. high. You have to improve every year and obviously those girls are not improving. I wish whoever takes that coaching job good luck because they are going to need it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that group get runner up to CA when the seniors were 8th graders ( I know it is Jr. high but they were successful) and the Jrs. this year won the Jr. High district and tournament the following year. So yes there is a coach out there that could get it out of them and she won a couple of other jr. high titles earlier. Maybe their answer when Coach Eady left was under their nose all the time. Coach Eady's only problem was he wanted to be the girls friend in addition to being their coach and that just don't work when you are the head coach. It was fine for him when he was Coach Harlow's assistant. I think some one can make a go of the situation at Culleoka but they will have to start way down in the elementary school now cause it is shot unless some of the girls come back that had quit.
